Traveling south from Traverse City, we stopped to grab lunch downtown GR. We were not disappointed when we found and ate at Two Beards Deli. We each ordered a different sandwich; The King Tut, The ZZ Top, and the Anchor. All were full of flavor & large portioned. The wait was not long and they brought it to us when it was ready. This place is amazing! We went while in town based off a friends' recommendation and it did not disappoint! I loved that i was able to get my sandwich in a wrap as I'm not a big sandwich person. I ordered the George Clooney and my husband ordered the George Carlin and both were delicious!! I highly recommend going early (around 11am) as it does get really busy at lunchtime, especially during the week. If we're ever back in Grand Rapids we will be sure to stop by again! read more

We left Chicago by car heading up to Canada, through Michigan. Three hours up the road, we pull into Grand Rapids (all eight of us) looking for a place to freshen up and have lunch. Well, Two Beards sandwich shop popped up with a staggering 150 variations (or more) of sandwiches. Now, who could pass up a place that can offer that? Each sandwich had the name of a celebrity or theme. I chose The Anchor, which was stacked with turkey, white cheddar cheese, bacon, parmigiano cheese and a herb mayo dressing done panini style. It was very good. My wife had a George Clooney, that had roasted chicken, bacon, red onion, Austrian Swiss cheese, cheddar cheese, tomato and Romain lettuce; she really enjoyed her sandwich. The other six people we were traveling with chose a variety of meats with combinations that were endless. One of the best things about "Hitting The Road" are finding little gems like Two Beards in Grand Rapids, MI that just suprise the hell out of you. read more

Flippin fantastic. Really one of the best sandwiches ever. Their extensive menu covers every hankering you could possibly have. We ordered the Freddie Mercury & the Zeus. Both came out fast and warm. The Freddie, dripping in chipolte sauce was so good but we both preferred the Zeus with it's sage sausage and feta cheese. We ordered both sandwiches full size and I was glad because I didn't think either of them were over sized and for it's higher end price point, you don't really want to miss out on half a sandwich to save a couple bucks. As a vegan, I am always on the lookout for vegan restaurants and restaurants with vegan options when i travel and I was pleasantly surprised that I came across this restaurant. When I walked into this unique deli shop I was immediately greeted by the cashier & informed him I was vegan and he indicated they have tons of vegan options and proceeded to suggest the vegan special which was "The Joseph Gribble." It has Smokey garlic greens, vegan bacon, red onions, broccoli, watercress, sriracha, veganaise, grilled on 9 grain wheat bread. This is the best vegan sandwich that I have EVER tasted. It came out hot, fresh and bursting with flavor which had my taste buds SINGING! I really hope that this will become a regular item on the vegan menu because it's way too good not to be. After a visit to the Frederik Meijer Gardens, my very hungry German guest and I stopped for lunch at Two Beards. The sandwiches were fantastic. While my friend was enjoying the "Salvador Dali," a very loaded and melty grilled cheese sandwich, I had the "Bluto:" shrimp salad with red onions, roasted red peppers, and Muenster cheese. I am not lying when I say that I enjoyed every last morsel and that if I lived closer, I would eat that same sandwich several days a week. (Sadly, I live two hours away.) We arrived at peak lunch hour on a Saturday, around 12:15, finding two people ahead of us in line. It took about ten minutes for our food to be delivered to our table, and in the interim, the place filled up. I'd say get there early if you're as hungry as we were! It gets very noisy in there (high ceilings, little in the way of decor), but the food makes it worthwhile. There is a huge selection with something to please everyone, including my vegetarian friend. I am writing this review from a Take-Away/Take-Out POV only because the times I have had Two Beards have been take out, and I must say that I can't imagine the food being any better in person because these sandwiches are TOP TIER, even as take-away! Every flavor combination I have had, of all the options that are offered- it is ALL so delicious!! Though their online portal for ordering takeout is down, it is not hard to call and place an order. Every time I have, despite reading how busy it gets here, I have always been able to get my food in good time (within a half hour!). I recently tried the Hayao Miyazaki wrap, and I must say, the flavor combinations were absolutely delightful. The curried tofu, the delicious and unique veggie accoutrements, and veganaise had me drooling!! I couldn't believe it was VEGAN! The menu offered a plethora of options, each more unique and delicious than the last from my experience. From classic favorites to inventive creations, the variety was so impressive. You can't get enough of the naming conventions used, and you can tell they enjoy great music and entertainment! ;) The quality of ingredients shone through, making every bite a burst of satisfaction. The atmosphere was very hip and trendy. Cement type walls, rock music blasting. The service was great for a counter style deli. The young man working the register suggested a sandwich to me and I wish I had taken his suggestion. Instead I got a Reuben. It was good! Not the best I have ever had and I had pretty high hopes. I do think they have so many options on the menu it may be hard to make every sandwich something to write home about. But if I am in the area again I will try another sandwich off the menu of about 53 options. read more

Above average deli with so many options on their menu. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. They take their time to help first timers and to explain some of the items. Multiple vegan options as well. They usually have great soups as well which is perfect with a sandwich. If you order a half sandwich, it's still the same size, just less meat. I was really looking forward to my first visit here. Sad to say, it'll be my last. Got the Ewok and The Hulihee. Both sandwiches were lacking in the amount of cheese and Mayo. The Ewok had redskin potatoes which I thought was unique. But they must parboil them and throw them in the sandwich, because it added a watered down likeness to it. That accompanied with the flavorless sausage, burnt "caramelized" onions, and lack of any horseradish flavor at all, despite advertising fresh horseradish and horseradish mayo, and you're left wanting a lot more. The Hulihee sounded promising. Pastrami and corned beef, with smoked cheddar and caramelized onions? Yes please! More like no thanks. All the meat was dead center of the sandwich in a giant clump. The onions had no flavor. And the cheddar wasn't really there either, as mentioned earlier. All in all, this just did nothing for us. I ended up taking all the toppings off the bread because the bread was just meh. read more

The sandwich has blackened chicken, feta spread, roasted red peppers, mushrooms, onions and chipotle mayo. I did get a whole sandwich, aka as a huge sandwich! I ate this over the next 2 days. This is such a great sandwich shop! We happened upon it when we searched Yelp for "food near me" and could not have been happier. The HUGE menu was a little overwhelming; however, I am sure I could have closed my eyes and pointed to something randomly and would have been just as impressed.
