50-100 Never again, don't choose this place for any kind of celebration. Made reservations months ago for a birthday.. arrived at 6:55 just to be told at 7:15 they never checked us in. Worked on getting us a table for another 15 minutes, then service was incredibly slow. Do you think they ever acknowledged my birthday of which I mentioned several times in my reservation? Of course not! While all the tables around mine seemed to light up with candles, they never said a word or offered a single thing. Selected menu items were okay. Servers were attentive, helpful, and courteous. Dining room was very noisy .. making table conversation difficult. Drinks were alright, this restaurant had a Old-Fashioned that was different than that I usually, nonetheless wasn't that bad. I wasn't aware of the hype behind their caesar salad, until I tried it. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND. Their caesar salad has a sort of southwest twist that gives a different flavor, and I am honestly not mad it. Steaks were delivered on cart along with sides which I liked (Decent quality steaks) The server was very punctual and respectful. Great service overall, manager greeted us during our dinner and thanked us for dining. I will comeback soon, maybe this time wearing jeans instead of dress pants. The whiskey bar is impressive here, even offering an 18 year Yamazaki, 12 year Glenlivet, and Johnny Walker Blue Label. Their specialty is easily the Filet Mignon, a melt in your mouth experience, superior in quality to almost any other steakhouse in the area, I highly recommend pairing with marrow butter. The mashed potatoes here are what one would expect, however an elevation of the experience comes by adding bearnaise to really make the flavors sing. The Batter Dipped Lobster is a nice addition to the steak dinner, and the thick yet soft batter impresses. Overall Twisted Tree is fantastic for a nice steak dinner and whiskey tasting. We celebrated our anniversary at this restaurant tonight. This is an unassuming restaurant. It's pretty when you arrive and does offer valet if needed but it will not strike you as an expensive place. You do not feel pressured to dress up. Most are dressed business casual or comfortable. It has a nice rustic feel on the inside. This is like a $40-$50 a person place if visiting at dinner time and well worth it! They do have a very reasonable lunch menu. All of the waiters or waitresses have assistants so the service is outstanding! You never have to wait for a refill or look for someone. They are always checking on your needs. The food is really good! The salad is to die for! It's probably my favorite STL salad! It's served family style. It has carrots, cucumbers, red onions on the lettuce and in separate beautiful containers are hot croutons (which I could make a meal out of), feta cheese and 2 homemade signature dressings that are super delicious! The white dressing is a pear tree vinaigrette and the red is a madam French dressing that has a small kick to it! I can never decide so I have half on one side of my salad and the other on the second half of my salad! I love them both although I may like the French just a tiny bit more. We have had the crab Rangoon, the onion rings and lobster bites so far as appetizers. They are all super tasty! My husband had a chef's surf and turf special tonight. Which was an 8oz filet and a lobster tail. You can have the lobster tail grilled or fried. He had it fried. It was unbelievable! They brought out little candles with a tiny skillet of clarified butter in it for the lobster. It was a nice touch! I had the 16oz ribeye which was the small one. I only could eat half but they box it up nicely. The steak comes rolled out on this cart. The baked potato is opened in front of you and tastes so fresh and the steak placed on the plate. They dip the au jus onto the plate around the steak. I really don't know how to describe the steaks! They are in house hand cut and wet or dry aged. Don't ask me what that means but you can taste it!! Wow! I love the jumbo baked potatoes that they serve with butter and sour cream on the side. I tried the au gratin potatoes that are considered a premium side but the baked still remains my fav! Their signature dessert is their wedding cake. My husband loves white wedding cake so this is his jam. I have had the cheesecake which was delicious but tonight I had the German chocolate cake. It was not the traditional German chocolate. That will help you during their business dinner rushes. As for the food, it started with some complimentary bread. Then we got the house and caesar salad. We had many entrees that we shared several bites of. My dish was seafood pasta, which was not really to my liking. But, that's what I get for ordering a seafood dish when the place is really known for its steak! My friends got steak, pork, and fish. We visited Twisted Tree for dinner to celebrate a friend's birthday on a Thursday. We were surprised to find the place completely packed. Prior reservations are highly recommended. The dinner comes with complimentary salad. You can choose between the house salad or a Cesar salad. If you can't choose, you can get both! They are known for their aged stakes and batter dipped lobster tails. All the plates come with a side unless you order a Chef's plate. We tired the scallops, battered dipped lobster tail and prawns and the skirt steak. All the dishes were excellent! Large portions and great to share as well. We got a side of the Chefs risotto which was delicious. Highly recommend ordering it. This restaurant is a great family styled restaurant with great service. We stopped in for the sip and savor menu. It's 5$ for a variety of appetizers and nice drinks. Essentially a happy hour. When we walked in I noticed there was more staff in this place than I had ever seen in my life. Maybe they were training but truly staff everywhere. The host told us someone would be back to seat us. We assumed that meant a minute or two. We ended up waiting for 10-15 minutes. It was fine but odd considering the insane amount of staff and open tables. The service overall was exceptional. When we were seated we were greeted immediately and our waters were full. Our waters remained full the whole night. My partner ordered a drink (I'm taking a time out) and enjoyed it. The drinks also arrived quickly after ordering. Food wise we got the sip and savor tenderloin skewers, onion rings, crab Rangoon, and two orders of prime rib sliders. I was not a fan of the food. The tenderloin skewers were cooked to perfection but really needed some salt and pepper and I was not a fan of the mushroom sauce (also pretty bland in my mind). The prime rib was tasty and I liked the horseradish sauce (this would be the one I would order again but it too was a little boring for me). The crab Rangoon was good but I was not a fan of the white sauce that came with it. The sweet and sour was solid. The onion rings tasted oddly chewy to me. I did not care for them. The sauce that came with them was good but couldn't salvage the texture. My partner doesn't eat them so I was hoping I could take them home and try to crisp them up more in the air fryer. They don't allow you to take things home off this menu. I understand that but the onion rings instead just went in the trash. I ate one and a half. We clearly weren't trying to scam them so I think it should be a case by case situation when people ask and considering they went uneaten they should have been taken off the bill. Came back to twisted tree after a long hiatus and it was very good. Everyone here is super nice and goes out of their way to smile at you. Like they all really enjoy working here. The house salad was fresh and enjoyed all the extra toppings on the side. The house vinegarette is thick but also light tasting. Lots of flavor. The bread was nice but be warned it goes rock hard shortly after you break into it. Whipped butter is great. I got the NY strip but i wouldn't put it in my top 5 steaks in St. Louis. Nicely seasoned but the tendons and fat weren't rendered as well as other steak houses. The chunked and roasted spicy sweet potatoes are pretty good. For me I could have done with a little less butter or oil and added more crispiness. They did a nice vanilla wedding cake for my birthday. It was am excellent sponge cake with an ever so slight amaretto flavor. The raspberry coulis/compote was most excellent. Had this on my list of places to try. I'm the only steak-lover in my family and, when I found myself in this part of town, I thought I'd treat myself to a lovely lunch. I got a RIBEYE! I NEVER order a ribeye, but the waitress was persuasive! I also ordered a side of onion rings, and eventually, got the flourless chocolate cake for dessert. Figured that was plenty. The ribeye was delicious and may be my new steak preference here on out. It was flavorful, not the best steak I've ever had, but not nearly at the bottom. My big deal problem was the FOUR onion rings that encompassed the entirety of my side dish. FOUR. Also, the flourless chocolate cake was dry and flavorless, even with a scoop of peanut butter mousse and whipped cream. I took it home and my daughter was similarly unimpressed with it. Sorry for the long review . . . We went to Twisted Tree this past Saturday for my girl's 60th birthday. We arrived a few minutes early. And good thing. Parking is a bit of a challenge. They offer valet parking. not sure if it is complimentary or not. Worth looking into. We were greeted cheerfully and seated in short order. We were seated at a 4-top table. I had requested a quiet table as we were celebrating. A booth would have been much better or a table against the wall. My bad, I should have requested a different table before we sat. We each ordered a cocktail and perused the menu. Being this is billed as a steakhouse, that was our interest. They do have a variety of primarily beef and fish. We ordered a 4pc Crab Rangoon. A little odd for a steak restaurant but whatever. They were nice served with two tasty sauces. The drinks were good as expected. For dinner we decided on Prime Rib (20 oz for her b-day for lots of left overs) for her. and the 20-oz Ribeye for me (more left overs). Most dinners, like ours, come with a choice of salad (garden or Cesar) and a side. Options are ala carte. We both opted for the garden salad. She had the asparagus, and the potato pancakes for me with a side of seasonal mushrooms. I read a lot about the family style salad service. It was nice but not a particularly special salad. Nice field greens with a bit of onion, cucumber, 2 cherry tomatoes, and 1 lone green bean? Sit was brought to our table in a stainless steel bowl, with home-made croutons, grated cheese, and two salad dressing options. One a spicy play on French dressing, and the other an emulsified onion? vinaigrette. Both were tasty and it was recommended we try both together. We did, and it was delicious. It seemed odd, but you never know until you try. The salad experience was nice but kitchy, I 'd rather have my salad served on a plate and be offered fresh ground pepper, which didn't happen. Next came our entrée's. The steaks looked and tasted amazing. One of the best looing pieces of prime rib I's ever seen. It was monstrous. Cooked to perfected and served with au jus and a nice horseradish sauce. My Ribeye was equally tasty. It was not overly season and the aged beef shown through. The asparagus was good but a bit under seasoned. My potato pancakes were great. They came with a small dash of sour cream and chives. I would have like more but it was just enough. The potato cakes had a subtle hint of spice which was perfect. The mushrooms were a disappointment. They tasted okay but they looked bad. Kind of a brown pile of what I think were either chanterelles or maitake or wood ear mushrooms? These could have been a big success but turned out to be underwhelming at best. But I love mushrooms and mage them work. Again, a bit of sea salt and fresh ground pepper would have done wonders. We enjoyed our meal with a bottle of wine, as we normally do when dining out in better restaurants. I chose a 2017 Stonestreet Cabernet Reserve. I know just enough about wine to be dangerous. I chose this because it fit my profile of not too dry with a taste of fruit. It was from the Alexander Valley north of Napa/Sonoma. We enjoyed it. They brought her a piece of their Wedding Cake for her birthday, with a candle in it. It was delicious. We were told they have a house pastry chef. Kudos for a job well done to something that can be just dessert. I want to go back and try some of their other desserts. This was a really good and enjoyable experience. The restaurant is nice. A little too big for high end? A bit loud but not too bad that's you can't have a conversation. The décor is a bit Texas Roadhouse, but still warm and friendly. Not my choice for a romantic dinner but still nice. Tablecloths would be better, but it was manageable. Overall the food was very good. One of the things that make this place as good as it is, the service. From the hostess, to our waiter, the amazing busser/support staff, and . . . the sommelier. Service is extra important in higher end restaurants. It's important all of the time. Twisted Tree did not disappoint. Attentive. Friendly. On point! I hope they keep it up. Twisted Tree is a little higher priced but what steakhouse isn't these days. Give it a try when the occasion arises. I highly recommend reservations, and valet parking. I made a lunch reservation for a business meeting at Twisted Tree online for 6 people and then found out the day before our reservation that we had 3 additional attendees. I called to ask if they could add 3 people to which they said no. They can only accommodate a party of 8. At the time I didn't push it because typically we will have at least one person drop out of our lunch. The next morning it turned out that we would have all 9 attending. I showed up to the restaurant 20 minutes early, mind you my reservation was for 11:30am and the restaurant was empty, and asked if they could just add one chair, we wouldn't mind. They again said no they couldn't. They only have two tables in the whole restaurant that accommodate parties over 8. I asked if they could push tables together. They replied no they couldn't. Then they offered that they could do two tables but we wouldn't be next to eachother. That obviously wouldn't work. I ended up leaving and allowing my party to be seated as a party of 8 but obviously this was very disappointing. The fact that they couldn't be the least bit accommodating and didn't seem to care was surprising considering we do these meetings monthly and have between 9-12 people so it's good for business. We will NOT return. I don't feel like this restaurant prioritizes the customer and I believe they need to better train their management and employees. Dined here twice this week while in town visiting friends and family. Everyone enjoyed the Twisted Tree and the excellent service and food. Highly recommend their steak and pork chop entree. The restaurant is in the Holiday Inn Southwest which was where I stayed. The hotel has just completed an entire renovation and is excellent - only thing missing was a business center which I would have found helpful during my 1 week stay. read more
