Closed and no hours update anywhere. I don't care how great their food is, they wasted my time.

Very very cool place. They offer a myriad of burger options and are always willing to please if you'd like something else. They also offer a great assortment of family friendly and adult beverages. I would give 5 stars if the time to be served was a little quicker. read more

Great burgers. More than just beef, they often offer exotic meats such as ostrich, bison, venison, elk, rabbit - they are always good. The turkey burger is good too! They have home-made pickles; usually 4 or 5 choices (free), always fun to try. read more

Wish I could give it 0 starts. Just straight up horrible. Don't waste your time. Burger didn't taste right and was just straight up falling apart all over my plate (it was a veggie burger). read more

Delicious burgers. Ordered pickup, food still hot when we got to hotel to eat. Fried carrots and green beans were delicious! Nice variety of custom burgers. read more

The fat Elvis shake is amazing!!! They had 5 different types of pickles to choose from for your pickles, I recommend the ranch! Ordered the pilgrim burger and took the bun off. It was delicious!! read more

Twisted Root Burger - Burgers Near Me - Lubbock, Texas

Twisted Root offers good burgers and a nice selection of toppings and options. The milkshakes are also delicious. We like getting the fried pickles. The atmosphere is fun too. Very comfortable and relaxed. When you order they give you a celebrity name that they call out when your food is ready. Simply and inconsequential, but fun all the same. read more

I really wanted to like this place. It was my cheat day from eating healthy and so I was craving a burger. As a result, I knew that I wanted to go to a specialty location to make the experience worthwhile. I went up to the counter and asked them if they had sweet potato fries. They let me know that they did not serve sweet potato fries... first let down. However, I was still determined to enjoy my meal so I proceeded to order a black bean burger and regular fries. Everything was alright. The bun was alright, the fries were alright... it was an alright experience. I really wanted to enjoy my decision to eat unhealthy for a day but I fear I may have wasted my cheat day. read more

HELLOOOOOO Lubbock I dig this place, but like, something is missing. I can't pin what, so here's what they are doing right: 1. The atmosphere is perfect if you're trying to eat somewhere interesting, but you're wearing lululemon leggings and an old athletics department t shirt, and don't want to feel like an imposter somewhere nice. Which isn't to say this place is grubby, it's just casual. 2. The burger flavor options are so cool! Gruyere and funky mustards, and onions prepared interesting ways, etc. I am enthusiastically pleased. 3. The sweet tea, house root beer, and the shakes are BOMB. So good. Very highly recommended. I love root beer, and their house brews with fun flavor notes is so groovy. The shake flavor options are well curated and I feel like there's something for everyone. The sweet tea is perfectly Texas sweet. Approved. This is a great place to eat before going to a baseball game at Tech (or LCU, whatever) or after a yoga session (yes, burgers after yoga, I am who I am). Fun if you have a younger group with you, as it's kid through college senior friendly. I'm not sure if I'd want to eat here if I were 35 with my husband, just us two. read more

Was really excited they had reopened and looked forward to having lunch on the patio but, thinking maybe I just came on an off day. I hitched my pup up to a table outside and went in to order. The sweet guy taking my order seemed to have a little trouble figuring the change but, I had over paid intending for the reminder to help feed the tip jar. No biggie. Just a heads up, if you would like a beer you need to make a second visit to the bar to order & pay there. They have a decent selection of drafts including a couple of local brews. The bartender was gracious as well and accommodating when I let him know that I would be visiting the restroom to wash my hands before I grabbed my Plains Amber and headed back outside. Here's where I started to question things... I arrived shortly after 11am which is when they open. There was already a backed up toilet, overflowing trash cans and trash EVERYWHERE in the ladies room. There's no way this could have happened in less than 30 minutes after opening so, guessing no one bothered to check the restrooms after closing the night before. Just made me wonder, if the restrooms are being cleaned thoroughly after closing, what else is being neglected? I ordered the millionaire burger, which was indicated as new on the menu, and potato cracklins. The menu said it was served open faced so I expected to need silverware to attack this bad boy. I looked for some at the self serve toppings station and discovered it was behind the pick up counter. What I did not anticipate was the extreme level of apathetic attitude from one of the girls behind the counter. She gave me an eye roll and wordlessly handed over the utensils because I had interrupted the conversation she was having with another employee. My sincerest apologies!! However, as she works there she should have anticipated my burger requiring a knife & fork and had them ready, or at the very least offered when I came to collect my trays. VERY off putting and unnecessary in my opinion. Was the food good? Meh. The fries were tasty and different from your standard French fry. They had a flavorful seasoning and were a nice mix of thick and chewy & thin and crispy. Found a hair in the bottom of the tray after I was about half way done eating though. Gross. The burger was as impressive looking as the menu described! Wagyu beef, bacon, garlic mushrooms, crispy onions, tasty sauces all together! Overall it was delicious but I wasn't a fan of the onions. I personally prefer crispy onion when the onions are well done. These were more like flash fried leaving the onions nearly raw and the batter not as crispy as expected. Ultimately this did not really take away from the overall finished product. Finally as I was sitting on the patio enjoying my meal a young male employee walked out the side door toward me and my canine companion. I didn't want to be rude so I cheerfully acknowledged him with a "hi, how are you doing?", He completely ignored me and proceeded to step over my dog and walk by through the other gate back into the restaurant. Wooowwww. So, I may be back. Probably not anytime soon though. Fair warning there is a 50/50 chance you will either experience outstanding personable service or a super bitter employee that seems to hate being at work. read more

Ordered through Uber eats and although the food was super good, it would have been nice to have got what I ordered. Everything was correct on the receipt attached to the bag but completely wrong inside which was pretty disappointing read more

Came from out of town. It has great food, service, and awesome ambiance! Im very satisfied

I came here for dinner with friends, got the wagyu burger, shared some fries, and got the Oreo and Amaretto milkshake. The burger was perfect, the fries were just okay, and at first I thought the milkshake would be way too watery (judging by when they poured it into the cup), but it turned out to be quite lovely. The amaretto was a lovely almond twist to the milkshake and it was a great way to wrap up my evening. Pretty sure I got diabetes and a couple blocked coronaries, but it was totally worth it. read more

I have had two reasonable visits at twisted root but was very disappointed today. We ordered the western burger and fries, the lady who took our order could've cared less to be friendly or speak to us. After waiting at least 20 minutes when it was slow at 2 in the afternoon we finally received our food. However not only were the fries cold, the burger and bacon was all cold. I am unsure if they forgot about ours or what happened. When I returned to ask the same girl for help she still seemed unable to speak and disrespectful to me just and turned around to find someone else who knew how to be helpful. They did offer to remake it but we did not feel like eating there after the cold bite. They gave us a full refund; however we will not be returning! read more

Their burgers are hugeeee!! So savory and juicy. 10/10 atmosphere and great food. I definitely recommend!!

Excellent burgers with fast and easy process and chill environment with a cool patio area for all dog owners!

Great food and friendly faces, a wonderful spot to stop and get some grub. There is a bit of dust in some finer places and on the tables, so a bit of scrubbing would be beneficial. Food is what gives it a 5. read more

I got the "freshman 15" burger and it didn't really have any flavor. The strawberry shake was melted before it even got to me. But the atmosphere of the restaurant is amazing, great decor! read more

Love this place! The employees are just as great as the food! The margaritas are to die for

I waited patiently for this place to open, only to be disappointed by a mediocre burger. Food: We ordered a bacon, egg, cheese burger and a mushroom burger. Both burgers were extremely dry and lacked flavor. The menu boosts that all burgers are cooked medium with a pink strip. Both burgers were overdone. I got through about half of mine and had to call it quits. On a brighter note, the chili cheese fries were great! They were generous with the chili which was nice and meaty. Atmosphere: It was a fun atmosphere! We felt like we were back in Austin. Instead of order numbers, the restaurant uses fun names to call customers once your order is ready. This is a self service restaurant and everything went quickly. bottom line: Come for a drink and fries. Pass on the burger. For a $10 burger, I was really expecting more. In their defense, they recently opened so maybe the cooks haven't had enough practice yet. Ill give it another shot in a few months and keep you yelpers updated! read more

My go-to is the big tex (cheddar, guac, chipotle sauce, onion strings) my husband loves the western (all I know is it has jalapeños). Their burgers are cooked perfectly to my taste. Not well done but not bleeding. The sweet potato chips are AMAZING! the fries aren't bad but nothing to rave about. You do have to pay extra for a side item (fries, etc). They have lots of fun things like homemade ranch, alcoholic milkshakes, game meat, flavored pickles, and flavored lemonade and rootbeer. During my visit today the lemonade was a limeade flavor and the rootbeer was eggnog flavored. I have yet to be disappointed! read more

Came in with my son he had the kids burger I had the Freshman 15. My burger was over cooked and tasted off. The fried egg was ok but the menu description said it included smashed fries and it only had 2 in the burger. It came with a one piece of lettuce and one slice of tomato and a very small portion of fries. For as much as they charged for their food portions should have been larger. They have rolls of paper towels for napkins the roll at our table was out so I asked our server for a new one . Some guy with a beard comes back and slams a new roll on the table with a smug look on his face as if it was bother for him to do his job. I won't be back. read more

Wish I had kept on going to the next burger joint! Atmosphere: it is a wide open, high-ceilinged building with benches and tables for seating. The line to order starts at the door and proceeds left. The menus are above the counter and can't be seen well while standing in line. There are printed menus once your reach the counter...but now you're standing there trying to read it while the server is talking to you about the different offerings...maybe put the menus further down the line. There is a large bar to the left side of the building right next to the windows. The music was very loud when I visited, so I can only assume it would get even louder if there were more customers. Staff: the staff was friendly and nice. Definitely have no complaint about them. Food: what a disappointment. For the amount of money I paid, that should have been the best burger I've ever had in my life....nope, it wasn't. I ordered a simple buffalo bacon cheeseburger with tomatoes and onions and a side of pork rinds. I was charged for almost every little thing that went onto the burger (just not the tomatoes and onions). The bacon strips I received were way overcooked and had the texture of jerky. The onions were a quarter sized piece of onion and I think they used roma tomatoes from the size of the tomato slice. The pork rinds tasted like they had been warmed up in a microwave and seasonings tossed on them. If you really want a hamburger, save your money and find a different place. There are other places where I can get a much better burger and fries and drinks for two people for the price I paid for one meal. read more

Honestly, food was good. No complaints there at all. You can, however, get a burger and fries that taste the same just about anywhere in Lubbock sans the eccentric mixture of strange ingrediants and for 1/2 the cost. I'm not sure if I missed some ordering secret or if the cashier ripped me off. My bad for not checking my receipt. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to pay what we did for our family. Anyway. Won't be going back ever. I can run down the street and get a burger at 5 guys that is just as tasty and they don't nickle and dime their customers to death. The service was friendly and fast also. No complaints there either. The atmosphere is just your basic fair. I wouldn't suggest this place based on total cost alone... read more

I wanted to stop at 4-Stars, but I'm gonna go ahead & factor the Hubster's LOVE of this place into the equation. I should start with a big ol' "Thank You," because now when I give the Hubster his honey-do list & he's been a good boy he asks if I wanna go to lunch afterwards. Then he asks if Twisted Root is OK with me. Coincidence? I think not. As far as Lubbock's deep-seeded need for chain restaurants goes, this one's pretty good. I dig the atmosphere. I dig the cute name tickets you are given instead of a number that require the callers to sing, dance, & generally make an idiot out of themselves when your order is ready. I hate the Guy Fierri tribute poster & refuse to Google to find out if he is affiliated with the chain in some way. Good thing they keep it hung by the potties... I like all the options on the menu. So far I have only had beef burgers, but I have seen buffalo, ostrich & kangaroo(if I'm not mistaken) as possibilities. Not sure how I feel about kangaroo, but that's because they are cute and cuddly looking little beasties & I feel bad. You HAVE to ask for veggies for your burger, which I approve of! Why waste the stuff as a garnish when that's all it will be used for. There are plenty of signs telling you this. Good selection for VeggieSaurus Rabbit Food eaters, or for folks that don't support Gluten in all its glory. Then you pick up your food & head to the pickle stand. Several options for different styles of pickle slices. Side note: I hated every single one of them, but don't necessarily need pickles for my burger to be complete. We always ask for cooking temps of rare & medium on our burgers & they've yet to give us anything below med well, but whatever. There are several sauces on the tables from plain ol' ketchup, a couple of BBQ styles, mustards & horseradish. That's cool. There's your standard soda pop machine, but they add a Flavor of the Day option....whaaaat? OMG! That Bourbon Root Beer is the shizzle! I don't drink much soda, but for that stuff I refilled 3 times! Not a bad lunch. Gets the job done, in more ways than one! read more

(First time visit). As an average Anglo-american naturally I chose the sexy Hawaiian for my first burger at this place... Damn.. Have you ever eaten something that caused you to stop speaking and completely ignore the people at your table?! This is the place! The wife had the Kevin bacon which by the name alone must be great, and it was. If you are noise sensitive, or have a meat allergy or are generally a hipster or a vegan, avoid this place like the vegetable induced plague you will eventually gain from not eating meat like the human you are. For the rest of us, this is a do not miss location. I'll post again when I try more, I encourage you to do the same. read more

I ate here for the first time last week and I must say, it's my favorite burger in town by a mile. I loved it in Dallas, and thankfully I liked the one here in Lubbock just as much. The Burger Lowdown: I am pretty much a carnivore. I really can't think of many things I would prefer over a great cheeseburger (except a steak ). What I really loved here was that their beef was juicy, not greasy like a lot of burger joints are. Cooked perfect, tasted perfect, I'll be back. Make sure before you leave you try out their complimentary pickle selection. I loved the atomic ones. Behind the bar, they have a FANTASTIC IPA selection (score 2 for 2 on that one). My friends and I grabbed a couple of the Deep Ellum IPAs and were more than satisfied. read more

I have not had a sit-in meal here yet, but the one time I went for milkshakes left an impression. I loved the atmosphere, the attitudes of the employees, and that milkshake was well worth the robust price tag. I hope to go have lunch or dinner here someday, and fingers are crossed the winning streak continues. Update: I did finally get my meal, and it was as good as I had anticipated. Fun atmosphere, and Kevin Bacon never tasted so good. (Oops, did I say that out loud?) read more

I only give five stars when a place blows me away with the food and the atmosphere. This place had the best burger in town. I moved here five years ago from Dallas and this is the first time I've had such a good burger in Lubbock. The atmosphere is laid back, food was good and came out rather quickly. The manager came by to ask how our food was and if we enjoyed the restaurant. He spent several minutes talking about the establishment and their history which we enjoyed learning about. If you want the best burger in Lubbock and a laid back easygoing atmosphere definantly try this place out. read more

Delicious! Pretty sure that's all I have to say. But I'll elaborate. I had The Spicy Goat with bacon, goat cheese and chipotle. The bacon was a little more cooked than I like but still good. The hand cut fries were fresh and tasted great with the ancho chile chipotle ketchup. The fountain drinks are their own brand of soda. There is also a pickle bar with every kind of flavored pickle you could want. read more

Best burger I had in a long time! I forgot the name of the burger but it had goat cheese and a chipotle sauce on it and it was perfect. I also had a side of fried pickles and it was very good! The fried pickles were only $2.99 and a huge portion too. Inside is pretty loud so it's not somewhere I would bring small children. Overall I really enjoyed this restaurant and will be back again read more

Twisted Root Burger - Burger with goat cheese!!! And fried pickles - Burgers Near Me - Lubbock, Texas

Mehhhh. the patties are under seasoned. buns are too thick and fluffy, so they get soggy really quick. not bad, but not great either.

Well, it's not bad. The line moved quickly, which was nice, and the menu was very unique with lots of variety. But the overhead menu was hard to read, but small hand ones weren't available until the front. But the staff was friendly and knowledgable. The atmosphere was really fun, great music and witty jokes. I was given the name of ally Mcbeal which is my nickname, so that's cool. I got the spicy goat with a lamb patty. It was good, but nothing extraordinary. But the ancho chipotle ketchup I ate with the fries was awesome. I'll come back, not for a valuable burger, but for a really fun environment. It's like music and a comedy show in one read more

Very fun time. Great pickle bar, fried green beans, and booth. Burger was greasy which puts me at 2-3 stars, but went for the fun more than good food. Would definitely go back read more

Always a good time here. My wife and I stop in before we go to the movies next door. Oddly, we never see the same bar tender but they are always friendly. As a bartender through college I can see they aren't the most skilled tenders but the establishment doesn't necessarily call for that. Still, always pleasant. read more

Are here before seeing a movie at Alamo. The people who work here *seem* to enjoy it, and that's always a plus in my book. I had the verde burger, which has green chiles, guacamole, and jack cheese. The flavor a went together nicely, but I'd say that the amount of guacamole they put on a burger for $1 is kind of small, but maybe I'm just greedy with guac. The service was fast, but for one person in my party, they called him up and then told him to wait and after that it took them another 5-10 minutes. The main thing I'd say they could improve on is how multiple burgers can come out at the same time for a table with multiple people paying separately. Overall, good burgers. Just the right size and unique meat offerings is a plus. read more

SO GOOD! If you're in the mood for a burger, this place will definitely hit the spot! They have so much to choose from! Twisted Root Burger - The Verde - Burgers Near Me - Lubbock, Texas

Went to this place today just passing through. We were told that the regular way the burgers where cooked was with a think pink line , so we asked for ours to be well done (just a personal preference). Anyways, our burgers were basically burnt, hard, super dry black patties. I understand what "well done" means and this was not it, this was basically burnt, hard and tasteless. The atmosphere is awesome, all other food and sides were awesome. My son had the burger the way it came and it was fully cooked with maybe the slightest ting of pink, maybe. So moral of my story is just get the burger the way it comes, don't do "well done." If it weren't for the burnt patties, this place would get 5 stars. read more

First time here: fried pickles were great, burgers were overdone, and the salad was fresh but lacking all the extras ( turned out to be a sprinkle of beans, peppers, and avocado).
