Omg this place is the place to go.. The service is spectacular, we had Si as our server, he was so sweet, Russ and I both thought he was cool. Then our food came, yummy. Russ had clam chowder. I had the scallops. They had a faint smell of ammonia. I tried to eat around it but it ruined the remaining ones for me. I did eat most of the meal and the rice carrots and salad were all good. We went a few nights ago with our 4 grandsons (8-15). Everything was simply fantastic - service, food, great family-friendly atmosphere. 4 of us had NY steaks, 1 chicken Parmesan, 1 pesto pasta. Best ribs I have had in a long time forktender. The sauce on the ribs are tangy, sweet and a little spice. Because of the flavor Leaves you wanting more. I was very excited to take my family to twisted. I arrived in Brookings at 5. Went to the park and then at 6:52pm I called and asked if they had room for 2 adults and 4 children. The hostess said I could have a table in 15-30 minutes. I responded if "I can be there in that time frame can you have a table for us". Yes and she took my name. I went and picked up my whole family. And we arrived at Twisted at 7:15. 5 restaurant staff passed before we were received. Executive chef. Someone will be with you shortly, two servers, and the manager. Finally the hostess came and said I'll have you taken care of quickly and she went to scope out space. 5 minutes later she returns and says unfortunately it's going to be 45 minutes to wait. Citing a flood of people had come in. I mentioned that she had committed a table to us and she babbled an excuse that such is the life of restaurant. It can get busy. I asked politely for a manager. The manager came up. Didn't take a moment to acknowledge any concerns she just stated. "Sorry we don't take reservations. It's says on our website. I didn't take your name. " the host took my name and committed a table. She continued with a few other random excuses. Changing of a ticket system last night. And whatever else. No apology. No concern that they had made a mistake and then honestly gave really poor service and excuses. Pretty disappointed in the service. But it was a good lesson I got to talk with my children about how you don't treat customers like that. read more

I was in town for a week visiting friends and decided to try this new restaurant. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing from start to finish. The first day I went, the restaurant was closed unexpectedly with no notice posted anywhere. I decided to give it another chance the next day, but things only got worse. It took over an hour to get my food because they forgot my order. When it finally arrived, the food was undercooked and definitely didn't match the high prices. On top of that, there's an extra credit card fee, which I've never seen at any other restaurant in town. The owner's attitude also left a bad impression. She came across as dismissive and unapproachable, and it's clear she's still figuring out how to run a business.The owner's behavior was unprofessional -- using foul language in front of customers and dropping the F-word repeatedly. It was uncomfortable and really uncalled for. Given the disorganization and questionable management, I wouldn't be surprised if this place struggles to last the year. I also learned that the restaurant copied the name and photos of another business, just adding a dash to the name, which feels misleading and unoriginal. Overall, this place seems poorly managed and lacks professionalism. Between the long wait times, undercooked food, unexpected fees, and questionable business practices, I honestly can't recommend it. Hopefully, they make some serious changes if they want to stay open.:) read more

Tough to find, if not a local! BUT, worth it. Nice main dining room, good bar (where we ate), attentive service albeit unsteady on the bottle of wine available. Ordered the rib eye and we shared (1 lb.!) with huge baked potato (split, for 2) and over-the-top fresh green beans with a teaspoon of minced, sautéed garlic. Yum! Steak was cooked rare, thank you kitchen, and was so delicious. 2 house salads to start with, blue cheese for him and the AMAZING vinaigrette for me. Warm bread, great but too much for us. Wow. Traveling through this town again - the BEST food I've ever had in this small town of Brookings. Great service, reasonable prices, big portions, and delicious food. Loved Loved Loved!! From the moment we stepped in to the dessert Twisted was exceptional. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. Randy the server could not have been nicer. He thought of our every need. I ordered the half rack rib special and oh boy it was cooked perfectly. Fell off the bone, crispy on the outside with a finger licking sauce. Yum!! I had enough to take home for another meal. The hubby had a New York steak that he said was great. We got the stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer and it was delicious. We shared the soup and salad and they were both fantastic. The beef and vegetable soup was exceptional. Can't forget the sourdough bread that we received with the menus. Nice warm sourdough to munch on while perusing the menu. To top it off we had the chocolate cake!! Wowzer that was so moist with a wonderful sauce and icing. You really get a lot of great food for a fair price at Twisted. So happy we have another worthy restaurant in Brookings. The ambiance is very spacious, clean and comfortable. Fantastic!!! As a general rule, "Twisted" does not take reservations, first come, first served. but I called ahead to let them know a group of 14 was coming!!! When we got there, tables had already been moved, set up an waiting for us!! Food was fantastic, service was excellent... Out of 14 people, I did not hear of one complaint!! We all ordered appetizers, that were fantastic, great dinners, all of us were serviced within a reasonable amount of time!!! They even let some of us bring in our own wine bottles. We had a party of nine that we had called and reserved a table for earlier in the day. When we arrived, they had a table all set up for us! The Ambience of the restaurant was perfect, all of the staff were amazing, and extremely friendly and attentive. Now on to the food!! The portions are extremely generous, and prices are amazing for the quality of the food. We tried the pork chops, pastas, rib-eye, chicken Marsala, and the special of the night which was Parmesan crusted scallops in a wine garlic sauce. Every dish was wonderful!!!! I called to find out how much they charge customers for using a credit card for a purchase, i got an answering machine and no call back, this during business hours, Thursday 8:25pm!They disclose that the food may make you ill but not the credit card surcharge amount, what's the big secret? You have to stop by the atm to eat here apparently, not very convenient. No fire in the fireplace, and no host at entrance to ask how much they charge for credit card use. Twenty years experience in the industry and I have never seen this degree of disorganization. I give it less than a year before it goes bust. I hear reviews from locals that are much different than what I'm reading on Yelp. read more

Went for prime rib tuesday.. on my anniversary with my wife.. @5pm.. 1 hour after opening... they had us wait for a table which wasnt bad (maybe 20 mins) then proceeded to wait at our table for over 25 mins...until our server even came to greet us.. as soon as she got to our table.. she said they were out of prime rib and lobster... they were open for 1 hour... how are they out of something that they are known for... it ruined our anniversary dinner and i will not be coming back.. it was a horrible experience.. read more

Service, food, drinks, music, and as a professional Wine Educator, the wine list is superb!! Not too many, which is ridiculous, but HIGH QUALITY wines!! The hospitality was exceptional!!
