I feel like there aren't too many Indonesian spots in Austin, so I was very excited to get some here! We came on a Thursday evening and surprisingly it was super empty inside. But we saw a lot of takeout orders going out, so seems like this isn't necessarily a place people eat out at. I really loved the free appetizer of fried wonton wrappers (?) idrk what it was with sweet and sour sauce. It wasn't too oily, and it was really light and crispy, and addicting. We also got Honey walnut shrimp - one of my fave dishes in general, but it came with a good amount of shrimp that was cooked really well too. The walnuts were candied and delicious, and I really liked the crispy stuff it was sitting on. Only thing is I wish it came with more broccoli. Nasi goreng - the server warned us this dish was pretty spicy, but it wasn't too bad! It was spicy enough that I was glad I had water with me at the table, but not too spicy that I needed to have water. But the egg was cooked perfectly. The rice was a little on the drier side, but they also give a lot of toppings alongside the rice, which I liked.

I forgot the name of the dish I got but it was off of the Indonesian menu. They had many items I had never seen before and a few sounded really tasty. If you're feeling adventurous, I'd recommend coming here for sure. The dish I got had some tender beef, jackfruit curry, a fried boiled egg, and some rice. The food tasted just ok but the portion sizes were very big. I'd come back and try one of their Chinese dishes; they have a big menu for that too!

I ordered bihun goreng, kwetiau goreng and nasi padang to go. Very friendly over the phone. Food was ready very quickly. Both noodles tasted great. The rice was also good but for me it was a little too much ... chicken and egg and beef.. i wanted more veggies..growing up in malaysia we never ate like this. But I will say it was value for the amount of meat. Next time I want to go in and order each dish separately and eat it with rice. Would 100% go back again to try more.

One of the few if not the only authentic Indonesian places in town and this place does not disappoint. The rendang was spot on with flavor and tenderness. The kwetiau goreng was a bit sweet for my taste but nonetheless delicious. The ikan goreng, fried fish, could've used a bit more seasoning but still good. Star of the show may have to be the side condiment chili sauce, our jar was almost empty by the time we left. Not too spicy and so flavorful. Dining area is very clean, prices are fair and the servers were attentive and very pleasant. A real gem for Southeast Asian food in Austin.

I was so excited to try this spot because of the good reviews but left feeling so disappointed with the taste/quality of the food. The fish although was fried perfectly, very crispy, but the dish was completely ruined due to the extreme saltiness. My tongue was so numb from the salt I couldn't even eat the skin which was my favorite part... The beef rendang was also way too salty. The best thing about this dish was the egg and vegetables were decent. The soup on the side was quite the opposite, way too sweet. Almost tasted like a dessert.

The best Indonesian & Chinese fusion restaurant in town! I come here quite frequently for some comfort food and it never disappoints me. Today, we had pastel, lemper and soto medan from their weekend menu, and Tofu hotpot. The Tofu hotpot is always a 10/10. It has a slight kick to it, but not too spicy and the thick broth goes very well with rice. It has abundant chicken, shrimp, tofu and other veggies too that definitely fills you up. Their weekend special menu changes every week, but the app/snack options don't really vary much by each week, so if you happen to be here on the weekend, I highly recommend the pastel and lemper. They are small, simple but very tasty.

I was browsing around on Yelp yesterday, as I too often do (Lol!), and Twin Panda caught my eye because, at first, I read it as Twin Peaks, and I used to love that show! Anyway, the reviews look great, and Indonesian food is something that Hubby and I have never tried before, so we're headed there for lunch today. I will report back... We just walked in, and this place is cute and homey! They have a super-sized area of packaged snacks like taro chips, banana crisps, rice cakes, and other Indonesian faves, I'm presuming! (We're buying a few things to take home. Why not? ) When we sat down, they gave us these DELICIOUS crispy bits with sweet and sour sauce that we demolished! I opted to go the Chinese route with the Cashew Chicken combo with a pork egg roll, white rice, and Wonton Soup! Chris dove into the deep end of Indonesia with the Kari Kambing (Lamb Curry) which I applaud! He has just added Nasi Padang as a second lunch choice for him, since the delightful lady who took our order is Indonesian, and she said that this was one of the most popular dishes over there! This, I further applaud! What did we think of it all? Cashew Chicken combo with a pork egg roll, white rice, and Wonton Soup: The soup came out first, and it was piping hot! Perfect for this cold weather! The wontons are meaty and excellent. This soup is what you want when you're feeling a bit under the weather and needing a warm hug, for sure! The broth, y'all! Bright, clean, and so dang yum! The Cashew Chicken is the best that I've had in a seriously loooooong while! Plenty of cashews, tender chicken, and a dark and delicious sauce base! I'm a happy camper who would most happily reorder this! Kari Kambing (Lamb Curry): This just came out, and Chris is in love! He calls it a definite reorder, and he destroyed it in no time! He says to be very careful with the spice paste that comes with the lime on the side plate with the rice. His mouth is en fuego , but he keeps adding it, so he's about all that spice! He loves this one! Nasi Padang: He opted for the beef rendang on this one, and he said that you could cut it with a spoon! It's clearly been cooking for hours. Very reminiscent of pot roast with savory Indonesian flavors. The spicy egg on it has almost a sweet and sour vibe, and it's a perfect combination with the beef rendang! It also has a delicious vegetable curry on the plate! Another reorder for him! Bottom line, this place is LEGIT good, and absolutely worthy of the Yelp praise! Such a killer find, y'all! FYI, they have a surprisingly good beer list and wine on the menu, which we would have partaken in, if this weren't a quick lunch! Thanks so much, Twin Panda! And welcome to our regular restaurant rotation!

I am sure the Chinese food here is fine, but we like to come and explore their Indonesian menu. I can't say I've had anything that I didn't like. This time we tried the soto betawi beef soup and the smashed chicken. We also enjoyed the Tempeh appetizer. My son enjoyed the soda gembira drink. Some concoction of flavored syrup, sweetened condensed milk and soda water. Many more options to come back and try. There are lots of people waiting four to go orders. But there is plenty of seating in the dining room. They also have a small Indonesian, grocery selection, if you are feeling adventurous and want to take something home.

The staff was extremely friendly, restaurant is small but clean. On Mondays they offer lunch specials all day with the purchase of a beverage. We ordered an iced tea and a green tea. The green tea was in a box, that's fine, but they didn't even bring or offer a glass to pour it in, and we were dining in. The portions were big, especially considering this was the lunch portion. But the food itself was just ok. Very salty. Probably won't revisit.

Austin does not have much of an Indonesian food scene if at all, so Twin Panda really is a hidden gem. It's a small family owned restaurant that I am happy to support. Service is very friendly. They even sell a few Indonesian snacks in the restaurant. Sure, they have your typical Americanized-Chinese food, but if you truly want the best of what they can offer, order off of their Indonesian menu. I recommend getting a taste of their Mie Tek Tek Goreng, Nasi Goreng Ikan Asin, or the Nasi Padang! All of their Indonesian dishes are authentic, delicious, and comforting.

I was recommended to go to Twin Panda from an Austin group I am in.So I was very excited to try! I was able to order my food online and come in to pick up. I think they may also offer delivery. Lots of great options, especially for non-meat eaters. I tried the tofu and broccoli combo and substituted fried rice. The combo also came with hot and sour soup, veggie roll, and a soda. Also, I tried the bihon with tofu. I wanted to try a little of everything so I also got a side of edamame. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal! It was tasty and very filling. The Bihon was very delicious, I'm a big noodle dish person so I enjoyed it a lot. I wish you could add a sauce to the tofu and broccoli, it does have added flavoring from the broth or oil it's cooked in but there is no additional sauce with this dish so I added my own. The fried rice was just okay, not much flavor on its own. This was a great local restaurant to try. Good portion sizes with friendly and fast service!

The Indonesian food is absolutely delicious here. I just discovered Indonesian food last year through some friends in Austin and they have introduced me to this fabulous restaurant. Unassuming on the outside but offering fabulous food within! A must try!!

This place has a Normal menu and an Indonesian Menu. The inside is smalll with about 10 tables. Stopped here for lunch and the staff was super friendly. We ordered off the Indonesian menu and had the oxtail soup and pempek (fish cake) dish. Both were delicious. The oxtail fell off the bone and the Pempek was nice and light and not too fishy..

It's a hole in the wall Indonesian restaurant! I got the fried rice, sweet and sour fish and goreng noodles. Very similar to Chinese food and I recommend it if you are in north austin or surrounding areas. The only thing I wish was that they had more dessert options. read more

I loved this place. This used to be my to-go place for all the Chinese food cravings. Generous portions for a decent price and a friendly staff. I noticed a roach in my food during my recent visit. I only noticed it after I finish at least 3/4th of it. I notified the staff and I didnt make a big deal out of it but chatted with the manager when was the last health inspection done. I was comped for the food; they've apologized for the error. Though, the whole thing was too unfortunate and it'd take me sometime to give them a try again. read more

I went in for Indonesian food craving. I ordered Mie Ayam and Nasi Uduk. They were delicious. The Nasi Uduk, the coconut rice was the bomb. Fried chicken on top and sambal, what else you need?? I also ordered the empek2, it was super delicious, we got extra empek2 to go. I will be back to try their other special menu. Usually they post the special on Facebook. This is mine and my boyfriends go to spot when we're in the mood for good Chinese food. We've never dined in, but we've ordered take out enough to know that no other place can compare. Their food is always fresh and tastes great. I love the variety of vegetarian options. My boyfriend usually gets any sort of beef dish, but has enjoyed their chicken and pork dishes as well. Although we haven't dined in yet, service is always great. The employees we've come across are always friendly. Last night (07/25/19) our service was above and beyond. We ordered delivery and noticed they forgot our egg rolls. We were a little bummed but didn't think much of it, because this place has always been on point with delivery as well as when we stop by to pick it up, that it wasn't a big deal. The gentleman who delivered (I'm assuming the owner) went out of his way and called me maybe 3 times and even came back to our place to give us the egg rolls. We were so astounded he went out of his way to do that and it made me feel so foolish I missed his calls because my phone was on silent. Just the fact he went out of his way to come back and drop off our egg roles speaks volumes of this man. If you value great service from great people and delicious food, this place will not disappoint. read more

My dad is Chinese, born and raised in Indonesia. I grew up eating all of the traditional Indonesian and Chinese dishes. With that being said, I'm ecstatic to have found a legit Asian restaurant that serves both Indonesian dishes and Chinese dishes. Yes, the Chinese dishes are more catered to the American tastebuds, but definitely stands out compared to the plethora of Chinese restaurants available in Austin. However, what makes Twin Panda very special are the extremely rare Indonesian dishes you'll find in the city. For the adventurous and true foodies out here in the Austin area, order the Nasi Padang with Rendang (beef) and the Kwetiau with Pork. I was so happy to have enjoyed those flavors after such a long time without them. They also have the traditional Indo snacks including Krupuk, which I absolutely loved as a kid. As far as originality with Asian food goes, definitely check Twin Panda out if you're wanting to try something unique and delicious. read more

Very friendly staff who catered to our individual needs as hubby wanted extra spicy vs. me who preferred mild. I ordered the spicy whole tilapia (#1) which was supposed to be less spicy than the combo #2. I did ask for it to be mild but I am such a wimp that it was too spicy for me. Meanwhile hubby ordered the soup which had the most amazing tasting broth, soto betawia, along with chopped beef, carrots, potatoes. It came with a plate of rice and the most addictive chips that I can best describe as mini pappadums. Though I doubt they were that but omg I took one look at hubby's chips and realized I had eaten all of them. We decided to switch entrees as he said his wasn't spicy enough so then the staff saw what we did and they brought out a special hot chili paste which seemed like minced up thai chilis followed by whole thai chilies. I pointed at hubby and said give those to him, not me. They chuckled as I wiped the sweat off my brow from the soup though hubby said it wasn't spicy at all. I chuckled along. The General Tso's chicken was slightly overcooked, making it too chewy, it was still good but not up to their usual standards. The wonton soup was good, as well as the eggrolls, the crab Rangoon wasn't as crisp as we'd have liked. read more

Ordered the spicy tofu lunch special: the flavors are really good however the tofu would be best cubed, fried and tossed in the spicy delicious sauce. It's served in big squares that turns mushy with some crispy edges. I'm a big texture person so if I had known it would come this way I would not have ordered it. The hot and sour soup is a bit too thick and peppery ~ however it has great potential! I would definitely eat here again read more

Ask for the Indonesian menu. Not sure why they don't give it out by default, but they should. Staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean and tasteful. I've never had Indonesian food before but it was great! Such unique flavors and ingredients. We got the beef and veggie curry, pork stir fry flat noodles, chicken noodles with soup, and the Indonesian salad. My favorite was the chicken noodles with soup. It was the lightest in flavor, but the most unique, in my opinion. The Indonesian salad was unique, but pretty heavy on the peanut dressing, so if you're not into peanut, don't get it. read more

I waited for almost 2.5 hours for my order to be delivered. Which was an hour after I called and was told that my order would be sent out next. Not only that, but I didn't receive all of my items and their phone was busy for almost 40 minutes until close. Look, I work in food service and get the labor shortages that's occuring right now. But to charge someone and short them items and make them wait more than an hour past the scheduled delivery time? No. Ive been ordering here for years, but after this experience, I will not be ordering again. read more

I smiled all day after eating here. Everything was delicious: general tso's, beef hunan, wonton soup, and hot and sour. Egg rolls were reminiscent of east coast/NYC egg roll- just smaller, but much better than the fried spring rolls that are traditional in Austin. I'll be back to try more. read more

How about Ive only taken probably 5 bites of my 'Neptunes Pot' and 5 of my fried rice and came to the conclusion that the pot is one of my favorite dishes! I dont know what they did but they did it well! I can only imagine different variations of this dish. Try 'Neptunes Pot' if you havent already! The other reason Im giving 5 stars is for the customer service and promptness of Eat24. Yes, i didnt even eat this at the restaurant and it was that good! This isnt my first time eating here, I have on a few occassions and the rest of the menu is great as well. I'll be back.. read more

We order delivery from this place a couple times a week. Love it. I like the care they take in their delivery packaging. They tie a nice little bow instead of a knot, and put the saucey stuff on the bottom. Love that. read more

Tried this for take-out last night. Wonton soup had wontons that we're so soggy the noodle melted in your mouth. Lettuce wraps weren't very good and the Kung pao just wasn't that good either. Not really sure what's wrong here, but the food is not very good. My wife loves Chinese food and texted me today and asked for the name of the place so she can remember it and never eat there again :-/ it had 4.5 stars and I was expecting so much more. read more

We had their Indonesian menu and oh my goodness it was phenomenal. I would suggest changing their name to something more Indonesian. Definitely try it out. Their nasi Padang is great. But really all their dishes are yum! read more

This place has good food, but it is never open. I've tried to eat here four times in the last several months and it's closed at odd hours and it keeps changing. I call, and no answer. I'm honestly not trying to be a downer or a negative poster. You guys have to make a living and I'm not trying to attack you. You guys need to fix this crappy hour situation. Four times I've tried now. It's incredibly frustrating. I won't be coming here any more for this reason. read more

A lot of great things to say about this restaurant - just not about the food. It's cheap, a ton of food, quick, and they deliver food themselves. I'd like to try it again in case if I just ordered wrong because my entree was very disappointing and had little flavor. They give enormous portions, which includes a lot of meat, not just rice and vegetables . read more

My favorite new find! I randomly found this place while searching nearby places to eat while I was on the Palmer Lane side of the city. I assume that this is the only restaurant that serves Indonesian food in the city but, when you go in there, you'd think its a Chinese restaurant. If you want to eat from the Indonesian menu, you must ask for it. And imo, it is kind of weird that they don't heavily promote their Indonesian dishes. The inside is not impressive but, it looks like its a family-owned business, which is always nice to support. We tried three dishes. The Kwetiau, Mie Tek Tek Goreng, and the Nasi Padang. My favorite was the Kwetiau, which was delicious, reminds me of Pad Sew Ew, a Thai dish. The portion was a nice size (good enough for leftovers) and had an abundance of shrimp. Loved that they added egg into it, which was my favorite part of the dish. All dishes were 5*. The only complaint here is that it did take a minute to get served but, the food is fantastic and Ill definitely be back here to try other dishes. The prices are reasonable too. read more

This place offers extensive Chinese and Indonesian menus, and both are excellent. We ordered several appetizers and entrees from both menus and everything was quick, fresh, delicious, and well portioned. Honestly, it's the best Chinese and Indonesian food I've had in the city except the wanton soup. That is literally the best I've ever had. The service is prompt and accurate. I was craving Padang cuisine that I had in Jakarta and Yelp led me here. They have a small Indonesian menu from which we ordered Nasi Padang with beef rendang (slow-cooked meat in coconut milk and spices). The food did not disappoint. Wow I just to know that in Austin have a great Chinese restaurant I ate with my friend today in Twin Panda I ordered honey walnut shrimp and my friend order gen tso chicken. It was our first time visiting this place. They were short staffed, but gave us a heads up about the delay. They took the order right away without any wait. We ordered Tangy and spicy shrimp, salted fish fried rice, bihun goreng. Simple yet flavourful dishes. Will definitely go there again! read more
