Windows with backlighting to mimic sunlight. The restaurant is underground.

TWH Social = The Walper Hotel Social. The Hotel is nice, the collection of shops on street level are cool (esp. Walper Tobacco). I almost missed this place altogether. There were signs on the outside but no way to get in. If you walk around a bit, you'll notice another sign (still on King Street) that takes you into what seems to be an office building...Bingo! That's the one. Then you'll see a glowing TWH Social arrow pointing downstairs. As you walk into the dungeon level, the restaurant opens up. Exposed brick like walls with frosted windows illumiate to give a feeling that you are not underground. Good use of lighting along the long bar and raised booths completes the place. The have a decent menu and have lunch specials also. Went for the Montecristo - not a total fail but really didn't like it. Local crafted beer was cool. My colleague had a meal from the menu instead of the special - a pasta. Said it was decent. So basically not wow'd by the food. Atmosphere and drinks seems to be the big thing here. Not the food. I think that is what a Social is and basically that is what I would probably do if I'm back in the area. Cheers.

Went here for dinner and drinks with a girlfriend on a Saturday night this winter. LOVED it. Our waiter and bartender (Ryan) made the whole experience. We had 5 or 6 cocktails (some of which we let them choose) and had the charcuterie board and salads. Food was awesome. Place wasn't buy at all though. It's in the bottom of he hotel but doesn't feel like it, I just wish it was on the main level because in the summer I hate being indoors. Went back again for brunch in a Saturday and place was empty again. Different staff but food was still good. Bathrooms are awesome. I liked the decor overall- modern but warm. Long bar as well. Would probably recommend dinner more.

Great but kale n prosciutto a bit odd combo
    Ezio D.

Everything is fresh and local and the food is a few notches above bar food. I just thought the dish items didn't come together, I.e prosciutto kale flatbread it was good fresh n fresh but had potential to be better ingredient types wise and as a special 17$ was a bit much. Soup was 10$ a tad pricey and portions small. Menu looked promising and if in town I'd walk In here again. Good bordering on very good craft tap list. Beautiful upscale ambience but you tend to feel like the place is empty.

Buck a Shuck Oysters on Thursday nights. Beautiful presentation

I went to TWH Social last week for their Buck a Shuck oyster night! I can honestly say, I was blown away right from the start!! The decor is spot on and the hostess was so lovely. Our server Alex may have been the best server my family and I have ever had. I strongly recommend requesting him when you make your reservation. Now on to the food! Honestly, every bite was delicious. The oysters were so fresh with delicious toppings. The fries were maybe the best frites in KW and the tenderloin was the same. They make everything in house and you can really tell. The live music was definitely the cherry on top. Geez, can you tell I liked it here? I would have given the 5 stars if they had soy milk for my latte but other than that, it was a perfect night!

August 12/2025: Grad dinner for Garrett…read more At first, I thought this LOOKED like a great sports bar. Lots of seating, tons of TV's & what appeared to be a decent menu. Then it shifted to screaming "CHEAP"! We sat at the bar as the hostess said the seating was full but it looked FAR from full. It also didn't fill up during the time we were there either. Then I looked closer & many things fell apart. The service was slow, the food was both mediocre and had super small portion size. The draft beer size LOOKED big but in reality it was more like a 12oz pint with a really big mug. It was Taco Tuesday. The Tacos were $3.49/taco, beef or chicken. They were a decent size but virtually tasteless & the meat on both was completely dried out completely. I ordered the house signature wings, xtra saucy ($18.99) for a Pound. They should have been embarrassed by what they turned out! They were exactly opposite to what the menu said. They were TINY & almost devoid of sauce! I'm unclear as to what the obstacle is for saucy wings!? All in all...this is definitely NOT a do over or a recommend.

Review of The Canadian Brewhouse - Kitchener Location…read more Overall Rating: 1 out of 5 stars (Poor/Inedible) Our recent experience at the Kitchener location was extremely disappointing, marked by logistical issues, slow service, and significant quality problems with the food. First Impressions & Seating Upon arrival, the entrance area was poorly managed. With a party of five, there was literally no space to stand while waiting, which created an immediate bottleneck and awkward experience for both our group and others entering/exiting. Service & Drinks Once seated, we ordered drinks promptly. While the Diet Pepsi, Lemonade, and water were fine, the Club Soda was noticeably flat. Our food order took an excessive 45 minutes to arrive, and only after our server proactively checked on the kitchen's status. Food Quality - Major Issues The most critical issue was the quality of the food across multiple dishes. It was unacceptable. Items ordered: Spicy Hickory Burger: WAY overcooked/burnt. The taste of char dominated the flavour. The accompanying fries were the only saving grace. Canadian Burgers with cheese and bacon: The burger itself was burnt, and the bacon was burnt crispy. The sweet potato fries were soggy. Creamy Chicken Alfredo with mushrooms: Minimal chicken (only 1 sliver initially). When a replacement chicken breast was provided, it was burnt. Creamy Chicken Alfredo (no mushrooms): The pasta itself was mediocre ("meh"), but the portion of chicken was generous, receiving the fewest complaints from our party. Chorizo Mac and Cheese (new menu item): Inedible. The flavour was utterly appalling--metallic and burnt, tasting like "dirt sautéed in a dirty pan." I had to spit it out. The pasta also featured pieces of unmelted cheese, indicating poor preparation. We also signed up for the app (before we got our food) to get the free appetizer which was a cheesy garlic bread. We got it with marinara for take home. After you peel off the burned bacon and cheese layer, you're left with a decent pizza dough to dip in decent marinara. Conclusion The pervasive issue of burnt food (affecting three out of five entrées) and the truly inedible quality of the new Chorizo Mac and Cheese indicates a severe breakdown in the kitchen. Combined with the cramped waiting area and slow service, we cannot recommend this location and hope management addresses these fundamental quality control issues immediately. On the bright side, our waitress was nice. We will never eat here again.

I went out with crutches and a knee splint and he went out of his way to find something to support my leg so I could sit comfortably. He was also so kind to retrieve us information from the bar manager multiple times when we were trying to figure out what wine and beer we wanted to take home. In addition to the service, the food was great and the wine and beer pairings they selected fit with the food fit so well. Our mains were our favourite - the trout and osso bucco. Both came with amazing sauce, and sides were cooked perfectly. I would definitely go back to see what they have on their everyday menu to test it out. And I 100% recommend you try them out as well!

Was it the decadent comfort food? The lamb shank was juicy and punched and the burger was over the top and worth every calorie. Was it the five course Irish dinner that I was lucky enough to score a seat for? With a friggin coursed beer pairing? If I had to settle on one thing, it was probably the stellar service. The staff was so personable and the bar tenders world class. Can't wait to visit again.
