If you are a fan of beer, this is the place to be. Can't quite figure out how many they have but they have a book at the bar with every one listed and described. I almost wanted to lift it and use it as my encyclopedia of beer! The place is like your neighbourhood Cheers. Everyone in there knows eachother and they welcome lost strangers looking for a cold one. I think that night I was the only Asian guy there but don't let the non-diverse population stop you from visiting the place. If you like beers, this is the place to go in the area - especially if you are in any of the numerous hotels in the area. Totally within walking distance if you wanted to tie one on - and I did! Surprisingly, the pub grub was good too. Had their burger and it was juicy and well prepared by the unassuming guy at the end of the bar. I found this place by chance when I happened to be staying nearby for business. My first visit led me to try the house burger. It was loaded with bacon and all the fixings, and accompanied by a side of their homemade ketchup - delicious. Since I only had a couple of the beers that night, I came back the next night too. This time I tried the special poutine feature. It consisted of poutine (french fries with gravy and cheese - if you haven't heard of it) loaded with beef brisket. I couldn't stop until the last bite was gone. Overall this place gets an A+. It's also worth mentioning that all of the employees were very friendly and made me feel like a regular. Coming from the beer mecca of the PNW I have tried countless beers and been to countless pubs. The Bent Elbow is a gem for trying out Ontario-centric craft beer as well as a hearty stock of Belgian draft and bottles. The bar is friendly, local, and absolutely necessary based on my limited stay in Kitchener. The fact that it had some of the best pub grub to boot was icing on the beer-frosting cake. Close to walk hotels if you are staying nearby for work but worth the travel from anywhere in the area. read more

Worst ever experience I've had at a restaurant. Walked in was seen by the owner but completely ignored. When I was addressed they complained about the size of the group (8) and the time we came in (8:40pm). Ive never been so disrespected in a restaurant in my life. I get it, if you can't accommodate or don't want to accommodate someone just politely say so, instead we were yelled at and treated like an annoyance. I was apologetic and decided to take our business elsewhere. This place must make a ton of money if they are willing to turn away customers like that. I've been there many times before and had people drive from over 30min away to experience it. Well the experience we had was atrocious. I was embarrassed for inviting my friends here. This is first and foremost a craft beer pub. They have over 30 taps and a fridge with an eclectic variety of bottles. The taps change regularly, with some only lasting two or three days. They also have a (rotating) cask ale on tap - as far as I know, the only one in the KW area. The bartenders, often the owner Harold or his sister Lisa, are knowledgeable, always make good recommendations, and are fun to chat with. The food is great, and a lot of it is beer-inspired, from their Beer-B-Q wing sauce to ice cream made with beer. They make pretty much everything from scratch and have a large variety of daily specials (including a daily sausage, flatbread, and grilled cheese feature). They have a kids' menu too. Since I started coming here, my taste in beer has expanded considerably, I've met people who are more into craft beer than I ever will, and I've enjoyed my share of delightful evenings. To summarize what this place is all about, I usually explain to people that they have one Bud Light tap, but it's attached to the men's urinal. I think that says it all! read more

To put it simply this place is a beer lovers heaven. Tons of craft beer but not just from Ontario, they have selections from all over. I fall in love every time I walk through the door. Their menu is also very beer inspired and melt in your mouth delicious. The staff are very knowledgeable as well. You can tell they are beer lovers! Chances are you'll come for the beer and stay for the food... and more beer. My only complaint is that they don't open until 4 and they can be really busy. I hope they expand one day. Keep being you. This review is for all the non-beer lovers like me. I've never had a beer I've liked, so I ordered their house red wine. It was a hefty portion size for only $7 - and it was actually pretty good! But what surprised me even more was that there was actually a beer on the menu I liked! It was very fruity and less than 4% alcohol, so it was really more like juice, but hey, I liked it. Some people also ordered some food. The fries were really good and the burgers got good reviews as well. I wasn't a big fan of the hummus and pita appetizer though - the hummus was very spicy and not like what you would expect. read more

Kitchener's true hidden Gem. A Beer lover's paradise, the owner goes to great length to bring in various craft beer. All of the staff know beer inside out, and are helpful in recommending beers. The most surprising thing about Bent Elbow is there food, just regular pub grub but really good. I can in full honestly say wings, burger, fries, etc. better than most places in town, as good as any high end restaurant. Great staff, really fun and friendly. Awesome atmosphere. It's cozy in here, I would love it if they found a way to expand. I can honestly say this has to be the worst dining experience I have ever had in my life, I wish there was a rating lower than 1 star. First of all I came with my father and my Uncle who after peaking thru the beer menu were not sure which beer to have and simply asked for a recommendation. The bartender snapped at them and rudely responded with "well read the menu in front of you...". After they ordered, me being the DD asked for a non alcoholic beverage, the bartender then looked at me scoffed "well...we have root beer" and then responded with a sarcastic "and would you like a straw?" like I was a 10 year old and as if my order deeply offended him. After getting our table, we ordered wings, over an hour has passed until someone brought out a tray of wings....for a table that arrived after we did. Soon he told us 5 more minutes than waltzed away before we can ask for refills. After a half hour passed I asked "Where are my wings" The server barked at me so loud that most of the bar was staring at me saying "You ordered the thing that takes us the longest to make, they are coming, relax". (I didn't think wings would take almost 2 hours to make) Not only are they completely incompetent at making food, they put my health at risk. I am a diabetic and when I ordered food didn't expect I was going to wait that long at all. Once I got the wings, they were burnt and flavorless and not even a simple apology for taking so long. Rudest Staff I have ever dealt with in the world and terrible food. Will never, ever go again Save your money and go else where! read more

Well we got there and the kitchen was closed - damn. Menu looks great - nothing fancy but where else can you get duck rillette in KW? Next time - food for sure. Had a couple of pints of draught - the menu is extensive and I recommend getting some advice from the knowledgeable bar staff. I started with the Amsterdam Boneshaker IPA - all good but a bit hoppy for me. I did drink it all with out complaining though. Next - had the Rogue Brutal IPA - this beer rocked it out for me. The bartender gave some interesting background on this one too - I recommend you check out the Rogue website. I don't think there is better beer selection in the area. Great job Harry. As and aside, sat next to the chef of a local well regarded restaurant and he raved about the beer selection, the food and the service. Terrible service. Went with a few friends and won't likely be going back again anytime soon. First, if you are going to have hundreds of beers available - don't get upset when someone asks you questions about the beers. Secondly, not everyone drinks beer - so when someone asks for a soft drink - don't insult them by asking them in a condescending voice "Do you want a straw with that". Dropped in here with my significant other late one Saturday night. Everyone was very friendly including the bartender who was a really nice guy. Started off by picking beers from their extensive beer menu - we suffered from the curse of too many options as there was certainly a long list. It was hard to pick but we settled on some nice local brews :) My gf ordered the special - it was a homemade lamb burger. It was definitely good, but nothing special. I ordered a rabbit wurst with fries because I had never had any type of rabbit sausage before. It was also tasty and original - would recommend it to any fellow sausage fans out there. We take our most ardent beer lover friends here when they come up from the US. The selection is mind blowing. Jason is the best server ever; we won't get over for 7 months and he remembers our names and what we like. Great beer bar for people (like me) who lean towards cocktails and wine. I'm a local Kitchener man, my brother and I have been going to the Bent Elbow ever since they opened a few years back, great beer and food. But, let me tell you, they have a waiter so effin' rude and snotty I can't believe he's still employed. Whenever we're there, he always takes the opportunity to move us from table to table and when we question him about it, he becomes so hostel and upset. He literally throws the receipt in my face, and he throws the tip back if it's not big enough. He always finds something to argue with us about no matter how small and insignificant. I have friends who'll never return to The Bent Elbow because of this waiter. I'm just stepping up and speaking out to warn tourists from other cities, Provence's and countries about this pub. For 2 burgers, poutine and regular fries, with extra mayonnaise and ketchup and a brownie with ice cream, for take out, was over $70 Dollars.. Not that we care, of course if it was worth it, I mean how can you go wrong with a burger Right? It sucks because the customer service is Fantastic! Yes, even for take out because the lady brought our food to us, while we sat inside the vehicle. Such a nice sweet lady.. but the food.. okay, let me get to the good part first! The brownie is made fresh, in the house and I enjoyed it a lot but it is Very Dark and Rich and Thick.. So if you like Dark Chocolate, you will love this! The Vanilla ice cream was probably the best I've ever had, I'd come back for it. The poutine was delicious and flavorful and salty and cheesy and gravy, it was Really Good, if you want a Good Poutine, come Here. I'm not a huge poutine fan, but I'm glad I got to try it. I would definitely order it again and recommend it to others. The burger had cheese, lettuce, Bacon and Tomatoes on it and it was the Worst burger I've ever had.. Very Greasy and BLAND.. even the ketchup and mayo had a bit of a bland taste going out,I wasn't sure what was happening? Maybe I came at a bad time, different chef? Who knows.. it was my first time here but inside the restaurant is dark and laid back. I really enjoyed the customer service and because of that, I might give this place another try but man.. It was our first visit and we will come back. I had the duck sausage with the barley & bacon soup and my wife had the schnitzel sandwich.
