We got a great parking spot (miracle) and were seated outdoors immediately (another miracle), which was great. The menu had so many options, it was hard to choose. I asked the waitress for her recommendation between 2 items, and it was bizarre that she recommended the purchased item over the one made in-house. Once we decided not to order drinks, she seemingly decided we were not a priority - she seemed short with us and brought the wrong side from what we ordered. The entrees were pretty good and we liked the format of the hashbrowns (crispy & in a square). It's cash only and the cashier had no $20 bills for change, but we made it work. If you're looking for an outdoor spot for brunch, I'd recommend checking out, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to try it/come back.
This restaurant felt right at home. As soon as we walked in, they offered a place for our huge winter coats. Immediately after being seated, our waiter was ready to take drinks. I got the ecstasy virgin Bloody Mary and HOT DAMN literally one of my favorite I've ever had. If you like spice, get it! Portions were huge, I got country Benedict. The biscuit was fluffy, the sausage patty was thicc and a perfect poached egg. I was very happy! Hers was honestly slightly more delicious because the hollandaise was amazing. Our friends got the famous corned beef hash and it's sooooOOOooo good. Unlike most corn beef hashes I've experienced. The one smoll downfall was the corn arepas as they were like savory pancakes and not exactly what we expected. The restaurant itself is kitschy and cute. Even saw a famous Chicago drag star there, so you know it's good!
This is a great place to get brunch with friends! Everyone really enjoyed their food and it came out quickly. There is a large menu to choose from but I got the Corned Beef Hash & Eggs and would highly recommend, it was delicious!!!
This place is cash only. I was walking by and wondering what was going on. I came here to meet a friend and the food was affordable and good. I got the corned beef hash with scrambled eggs and texas toast. The texas toast is amazing and the food was good. They were attentive and a good place for a date.
Here we go... The ambience was warm, cute and cozy. They give you a little slice of cake as a starter. Bring cash! The cheese curds are made with love as is the rest of the food and the service (S/O to Lucky!). The amount of hash brown is just right, not too much, not too little and just the right amount of crisp. The omelette was divine, it was like biting into what happiness would feel like it it were edible and the taste gave me tears of joy. Highly recommend this wonderful institution. Got it? Good.
Perfect place for brunch. Patio at the back is only open on weekends. Patio in the front is open but they do warn about bees. Complimentary cake is served as we sat down. Had the classic breakfast with a choice of tomatoes and fruit cup. The chicken sausage was good. Only con: my eggs and chicken sausage were a little too oily and greasy. It's a cash only establishment (there is an ATM inside)
Yes. Eat here. Had a party of 5, and was able to get promptly seated around 11am on a Friday. Food was excellent. Staff was kind and prompt. The vibe was happy and energetic for a nice brunch buzz. It was full, without being crowded. I love tweet and will come back!! Cash only!!!
I've been living in Uptown for the past year and a half and have been meaning to come here, however I don't often eat out for breakfast food so I wasn't necessarily in a rush to come here either. My friend and I went for a coffee and long walk, and then walked by here while we were hungry so we decided we should stop and try. She said she's been there once before and liked it so I had high hopes. Long story short - we were disappointed. She ordered the chilaquiles red salsa and I got the breakfast burrito (meat lovers option with chorizo, bacon, etc). We both found out food to be lacking flavor. It just straight up was just not that good! Maybe we ordered the wrong things? I'm not sure! While our server was friendly, she forgot to bring us our check after we asked for it, and then saw us again and said she'd be back with it and then disappeared for like 10 minutes! We weren't in a hurry, but we also were ready to leave so that was a little annoying. Lastly, they are cash only which in my opinion is outdated. We did not have cash on hand nor realized they were cash only so we had to use the ATM in the next room... which I absolutely hate doing because no one likes getting charged to take your own money out. Anyways, not sure if I'll return any time soon, but the service and ambiance is nice.
Came by again and had an excellent breakfast with my grandson. I had the country benedict. A huge meal with two perfectly poached eggs over two large sausage patties and two half a biscuits and covered with sausage gravy. I had to have their hash browns. The portion size is really large. It comes with a generous cup of assorted fruit. My GS had the arepas. They were huge but a bit too dry. for him. I forgot it's cash only. luckily I had enough. I wish the coffee was more robust.
I'm in love with this place! I will note - they are cash only but have an ATM inside the restaurant. We were caught a lil off guard by this but that is our fault for not checking beforehand. When they seat you, they give you a free piece of cinnamon coffee cake which is delicious. Their menu is large and there's many vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. I can't eat meat, so this was especially nice for me. I got the vegetarian biscuits and gravy which was very heavy but very delicious. I got it thinking I'd need a side to fill me up but nope. The biscuits and gravy would've been enough. I would definitely get it again. My bf got the French toast with a side of eggs and sausage and also regretted getting the sides because he said the French toast was awesome but very filling. He's a big eater, so I was shocked. Not a bad problem to have though! Service was good and we were pleasantly surprised they were able to seat us immediately at noon on a Saturday. They have both an outdoor patio and an indoor space with a neat ambiance. Would definitely recommend!!!
I love this neighborhood spot so much! My go to order is the corned beef hash & eggs. Their hash browns though..when they're extra crispy it's SO GOOD. I also enjoy their quiche platter a lot (good size portion). Other favorites include country benedict & crab cake benedict. Their complimentary welcome coffee cake bites is such a nice touch!! Sure it can be annoying because it's cash only but I still highly recommend this cozy spot :) always really friendly service!

This was a great brunch place. Food was delicious and the portions were huge! I got a the steak breakfast burrito and it was kissed by the condiment gods cause it came with all sorts of dips and salsas. Also really love the fruit options & the little coffee cake they give you when you arrive is so so good! read more

Great place! The service is 10/10 and the food won't disappoint. This a pretty unique restaurant with all the modern type of art covering the walls. The food is pretty good and we were all satisfied with our order. You get a complementary small piece of cake for each person in the table. The coffee tastes great and I feel like most places don't have good tasting coffee. We ordered the pumpkin pancakes and they were delicious. The got the low carb eggs Benedict dish but don't let the name full you; it's quite filling. The steak salad doesn't look that big but it's also quite filling. The only down side is that this is a cash only place. There's a lot of people but no reservations needed and the wait is not that long. We waited about 10 minutes to get seated. Our waiter was friendly, informative and fast. I would definitely recommend you check out this place. read more

Love this place. The decor is not my style but I adore that the team here is committed to staying true to who they are. Too many places look and feel the same these days anyway. It can be challenging finding good vegetarian breakfast options and Tweet has several. Kind and attentive staff. Good and dependable coffee. Lovely patio. Thanks Tweet! read more

Wow, bring your appetite for the place! Huge portions and a huge menu so you may end up with many doggy bags! Such a cute little cafe with many vegan and regular options. The complimentary bread is awesome, drinks are fancy and delish, but the entrees are outstanding. I felt a little bad getting the turkey sandwich but the waiter talked it up and it did not disappoint! Juicy turkey, flaking croissant, crisp veggies! And the lox plate is so big-- it could feed two for sure. Can't wait to come back to get another lunch surprise! read more

Being the foodie that me & my wife are, we were recommended this place by my wife's co-worker. The food was scrumptious! The portion was huuuggeee. And the very nice server & the greeter made us feel so welcomed here, and it's our first time! My kids had a great time eating their pancakes and we were even given complimentary fruit bowls. Place didn't disappoint, and the recommendation by the co-worker was awesome. I should have known about this place sooner. So cozy, homey & great place to eat & socialize or spend time with your family here. Highly recommend! Will come back again. read more
Stopped in for brunch while visiting my best friend in Chicago. It's one of his favorite spots and I definitely see why! The food is absolutely delicious and we were able to sit outside. Even though it was windy (in Chicago?!), the restaurant did their best to remedy the pitfalls of the city's nickname. On top of the metal tables, the tablecloths had magnets at each corner to keep everything "down to Earth." It was a nice touch I was glad to notice. The food and drinks were sooo good. I love the resurgence of espresso martinis and the one (okay, the TWO) I had here did not disappoint. Ian and Jamey had Bloody Mary's that came in the coolest chalices. Food-wise, I had the Walter Salad and ya'll... it may be the best one I've had without making it myself. I don't really like it when salads come with huge chunks of veg that you have to cut yourself (often awkwardly, with a butterknife). This salad, on the other hand, was all chopped up so nicely I could just shove forkfulls in my face - just the way I like it! Niche, maybe, but they earned major brownie points with me on that one. My best friend says it doubles at a pretty cool dance bar at night. I can't wait to visit again and see the other side! Until next time, I'll be dreaming of that Walter Salad... read more

This place is everything you're looking for in a traditional breakfast/brunch spot! Incredible menu with THE BEST corned beef hash. Like, it's actually real corned beef with greasy potatoes and green peppers and onion chopped in. Don't worry, they have side orders of it (small and large) because you WILL find other dishes that'll entice you. It's one of those places where everything the waiter brings out look incredible! And let's not forget their extensive drink menu with fun names like Bitter Bitch, LOL! Friendly staff, and the coziest atmosphere. Truly a gem. Mind you, it is a cash-only establishment so be prepared. Plus they serve Intelligentsia coffee so it's a true Chicago staple. Cheers and enjoy Tweet! read more
The BEST breakfast, lunch, brunch, etc. spot in Uptown. That staff are all incredible and so accommodating to any dietary restrictions (they ask if you are DF or GF upon arrival). When you sit down they give you a delicious coffee cake before you order and it's heavenly. You can't go wrong with anything you're ordering -- I'm a sucker for their fries. Make sure you bring cash because they're cash only! Will definitely work my way up to being a regular here read more
Packed | Service | Portions PACKED: We went right before the Sunday Brunch Rush at 11am and it was already packed. They do not take reservations so you need to be prepared to get there a little earlier to make sure you get your name on the list. What makes the experience of waiting nice is that the restaurant is divided in half. With one side been for brunch and the other side being the holding bar. On the bar side you can get little snacks, water, and coffee while you wait for your table. SERVICE: Given how busy it was the service was OUTSTANDING. There was never a moment where we went wanting. Between waters, coffees, drinks, clearing the table, boxing the meals, they were EXTREMELY attentive and available. This is rare during rush hour brunch where service can be lacking. PORTIONS: You need to be ready to eat when you go. Given the price point to size ratio, you definitely get your money's worth. I was thoroughly imppressed by the options on the menu. It is a bit intimidating with all their inserts and substitute options. They have a good mix of vegetarian hot and cold Options. I had the Belgium waffle with a side of hash browns and I was full for the rest of the day. Pro tip: Parking around the Resturant is limited. But it is free on Sundays. read more

Monica's ~T.A.S.T.E.~ Test Taste: They start you out with complimentary coffee cake, both vegan and regular. The vegan one was a little dry and crumbly without much flavor other than sugar, but the other people in my party loved the regular kind. I had the #7 burrito which is vegan and is incredible. Super large and comes with a side of fruit, total bonus! Great flavors and the chipotle vegan mayo is a must. Atmosphere: This place is awesome for brunch. Great attentive service and you don't feel rushed. They have a bar area and 2 different seating areas, so you don't feel packed in. Service: Our waitress and servers were amazing at refilling our coffee/waters, plates were cleared as soon as we were done, and everyone was friendly. Tab: The bill per person was around $20 a person after tip for brunch, so very reasonable. Extra wow factor: They have so many options here for both vegan and meat eaters alike. I love being able to choose from more than just a salad! Does it pass the T.A.S.T.E. Test? Most definitely! This will be on our recommendation list! read more

Since I had a three day weekend, decided to come visit my friend in uptown and try the brunch up here. For a Monday morning at 11, the place was fairly packed. I guess a lot of people are off today too! Since there were only two of us (and a service puppy), we had no trouble getting a table right away. The entire staff were extremely friendly and attentive. They were all doting on Mochi, but who can blame them, he's a sweetheart. They gave us complimentary coconut coffee cake that was amazing! I ordered the southern Benedict and my friend friend ordered the portobello Benedict & we both had spicy bloody Mary's. All items arrived super quick and was pretty good! It's my first time here and won't be my last! read more
Bustling atmosphere! Loved this energy. Warm, fun, quick, yummy, and comfortable for people abiding to any diet! Pretty neat. I'll definitely be back. For brunch on the weekends, get there early or it'll be a long wait They do have a bar inside. If you wanna stay warm. read more

FINALLY!! A spot with amazing vegetarian B&G! While dining outside in the sunny weather, and it was a delightful experience! The biscuits were perfectly fluffy and paired wonderfully with the rich, savory gravy. The outdoor seating added to the enjoyment, allowing me to soak up the sun while savoring every bite. The dish was not only delicious but also a great option for vegetarians like myself. Highly recommend it for a sunny, satisfying meal! Even to non vegetarians as it was THAT good. Great brunch spot. read more
This is a such a cute little brunch spot! They give you a complimentary bread that's DELICIOUS. It's the right amount is sweet and savory. I would actually buy it. I think it's a banana or coffee cake. I got the eggs benedict with hasbrowns and LET ME TELL YOU. The hash browns were SO crispy. A little under salted, but SO CRIPSY. I love my fries and hash browns crispy and these just hit the mark. The eggs benedict itself was delectable. Hollandaise was creamy and the eggs were perfect. I love eggs benedict and get it every time I see it, and this is a pretty darn good eggs benedict. It also comes with a fruit cup which was nice! Note: I think they take cash only from what I've seen from other yelpers, but I'm not entirely sure. I paid cash as well. read more

This is hands down my favorite spot for brunch in the city. It's unassuming yet full of personality and the menu has something for everyone: from vegetarian to gluten-free. The staff is kind, the coffee is strong, and the food is always perfection. The chilaquiles are unbeatable, the French toast is #chefskiss, the quiche plate can do no wrong--do yourself a favor and GO. Keep in mind it is cash only (there is an ATM on-site but best to get the green before you arrive) and seating is first come, first served with no reservations (ie weekends at primo time means you will wait but it's worth it). read more

Yum, yum, & yum! The first time I came, the wait time at noon on Sunday for 3 was just short of 15 minutes. Staff was super well organized and pleasant! Tweet has an extensive menu with plenty of options whether your a meat eater, vegetarian, or vegan. Rex was our waiter the first time we came and he was super funny, kind, attentive, and overall a personable waiter. The restaurant has a great neighborhood feel vibe. It was so good I even came back 2 weeks later with more family and friends to enjoy! This time on Friday morning there was no wait for 4. read more

We had a great experience at Tweet. We came here on Saturday around noon and didn't have much of a wait. We ordered drinks at the bar but within 10 mins we were seated. I ordered the Sangria and it was delicious. For brunch, I ordered an custom omelette with spinach, feta, and tomatoes. It came with some fruit and a little salad. The service was fast and everyone enjoyed their meal. I would highly recommend it. Arrive with your entire party as they will not seat you until you are all there. read more

There are already 1,583 Yelp reviews of Tweet, and here's one more. If you've been reading the reviews and are starting to skim them for the most relevant information, let me make it easy for you by encapsulating my review briefly here: Tweet is fantastic. Go there. iT'S CASH ONLY!! If you want more information, keep reading. Betsy and I went for lunch on a beautiful summer weekday. We were lucky to snag an outdoor table. Even sitting alongside Sheridan Road, we didn't notice the traffic noise much, and were able to taste and enjoy everything without swallowing gas fumes as well. As soon as we sat down, the hostess asked, "anyone vegan?" I said, "Yes, me!" Why did that make a difference? Because you are immediately given a small piece of cake as a free appetizer, and I got the vegan cake. I did post a picture of our cakes. I am not sure exactly what the flavor was, but we both liked what we had. I would like to call out our server, Seth, who was professional, friendly, knowledgeable and prompt. All of those qualities enhanced the dining experience. Because my friend is adamantly NOT vegan, she had a traditional patty melt, which came with a whole mess of French fries. I ordered the vegan soyrizo tacos; I got three tacos, along with small bowls of black beans and rice. Definitely filling meals for both of us! I managed to eat the tacos, and I took the rice and black beans home for dinner. Betsy got through her patty melt, and took French fries home. Betsy's ice tea was a tall, big glass. My iced coffee was served in a glass, and came with a refill in a small carafe. Just the right amount for both of us. I found easy paid parking nearby on Sheridan Road. This was mid-day on a Thursday, so maybe parking is easier at that time than it might be on the weekend. I did hear our server, Seth, telling customers at another table that the wait can be one to two hours for a table for weekend lunch/brunch. That pretty much confirms you will never see me at Tweet on a weekend. As a vegan, I really appreciate that I have a selection at Tweet. That is not to say that omnis are neglected! The menu is big! There is plenty of selection, for persons of all sorts of dietary preferences. I'm really happy that Betsy is living in the area now. It means that we'll definitely be back at Tweet again -- on a weekday, with cash, because IT'S CASH ONLY! read more

Such a cool neighborhood spot to visit especially in the summer time. I have been at this spot twice and know for sure I will be back many more times. The coffee cake is sooo good and it is complimentary too. I love the variety in their menu. They do have some typical American breakfast and also a fusion of Mexican food as well. So it basically depends on your mood. read more

I had never been to Tweet, despite living in Chicago many years and having many friends who love it. But, better late than never! Came with a couple of friends and had the most delicious brunch! We had a slight wait but it was't too bad, especially for a Saturday afternoon (full disclosure: it was raining outside tho, so that might have kept people away). First off, I love that they offer complimentary coffee for folks waiting for a table in the Big Chick's bar area. Second, I love how contentious they are. My friend who put our names in mentioned that her partner was vegan so they gave him a piece of vegan coffee cake at our table, along with our delicious non vegan cake as well. The menu itself is huge and has TONS of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options and I had a hard time narrowing it down. Ultimately I asked our awesome server some help picking and he recommended the pumpkin pancakes, which were AMAZING. Great rec and and even better dish. I rounded it out with a side of turkey sausage for a bit of savory and it was perfect. My husband got a harvati omelette and my friends got the chilaquiles and the breakfast burrito. All plates were huge and very generously portioned. Cash only so come prepared. They also have an ATM onsite but it's better to have some on hand just in case. read more

I had a decent experience my first time coming here for brunch. My friends and I had a reservation and couldn't be seated until everyone had arrived, which was fine because we didn't have to wait very long. This place was loud and PACKED on a Saturday morning: so many people in and out. They have a full bar which I didn't take advantage of but appreciated. Service was great at every touch point. We received complimentary coffee cake and fruit cups, which were delicious. Everyone's main course was a generous portion size. I had French toast, which was good but not great: pretty basic even though I jazzed it up with some berries. The side sausage links and fresh-squeezed orange juice I had were really great, though, and all my friends ordered savory food which looked fantastic. I will definitely order something else the next time I come here. I will also remember that it is cash only (yikes!). Fortunately they have an ATM on site read more
I've wanted to try this restaurant for a long time but I just keep forgetting about the place. Finally, a friend suggested to go here for lunch. I'm in. Upon entering, we were met by the hostess and were seated right away. Even though the patio looked tempting, we opted to sit on the upper level near the window. The server had greeted us within a few minutes and took our drink order. I was surprised on much are listed to the menus. I decided to try the French Toast Flight while my friend opted to have the Turkey Burger. Even though this casual restaurant was busy, the noise level was at minimal so you could have a conversation. The entrees were delivered to us sooner than expected. The french toast and the side order of hash browns were really good. My friend was also very happy with the turkey burger. The portions are very good size. The server did check in with us couple of times. This neighborhood restaurant is in a great location - right on Sheridan Road so parking can be a little tricky. There's also the 151 Sheridan bus stop not far from the restaurant. I would recommend this restaurant and looking forward to my next meal. read more

This is easily one of the best brunches in Chicago. The portions are generous and the food is of the highest quality. Each table is served a small bite of something delicious as soon as they sit down (like a bread or pastry). Their fruit cups literally have the freshest options that look like it has been hand-selected, and nothing is ever questionable. The true win is for vegans/vegetarians since they have so many options and ways to accommodate all cravings. Don't forget the awesome patio out front and ample seating inside. We literally have nothing bad to say about Tweet, except that the secret is out, and sometimes there is a wait to sit down. read more

What an amazing experience. Being an out of towner from Iowa I had no idea what to expect when my friends took me to the amazingly cute brekkie place. To say it exceeded all my expectations is an understatement. I walked in as a stranger and left as a friend - literally people remembered my name. The food was top notch but the staff is the icing on the cake, especially Rex who is now my buddy on all things Philly related. I had some amazingly delicious French toast and warm apples, a fruit cup and delicious coffee. I'm going to be sad to leave Chicago. I'll definitely come here next time I'm in town! read more

Love the decor in here, soooo cute. My boyfriend's grandma and I adore the vintage tea sets they bring, and they are generous with the fruit on the fruit cups the staff are so attentive, and it can get pretty crowded, but the food is so so tasty it is worth the wait!!! Maybe the most enchanting breakfast joint I've ever been to. (And that's saying something!) We went on a Thursday afternoon (brunch time) and it wasn't busy. Perfect! We were sat quickly with a small dish of chocolate chip coffee cake (?). It was a sweet touch. The waiter was fun and bubbly, while being informative and helpful. He was also masked, which was much appreciated. We started with water and coffee. These were filled consistently and the coffee was great! I had the French Toast with syrup and a side of Chicken Sausage. My friend got the standard breakfast (eggs, meat, potato, etc.). The portions were big and filling--the value was great for the price. The French Toast was phenomenal and the fruit cup was surprisingly good. Most of the time, fruit cups are overripe and mushy. Not here! Everyone enjoyed their food. As a visitor to the city, I'd recommend this spot to anyone coming through. It had a fun and funky diner vibe with a ton of great food options (including gluten-free and vegetarian). Thanks for adding some color (and tasty food) to our trip! read more
