I just bought a 2016.5 Grand Touring CX-5 Metallic Soul Red at Tustin Mazda with parchment seat trim. Literally bought it yesterday so my review is mostly about the sales experience. I had been researching comparable cars online for 3 weeks and reading reviews over & over again on all cars. The reviews of this car were overall very good, and I liked the shape & red color as it looked more expensive than the other comparable brand cars (the pearl & dark blue are nice choices too). I was down-sizing from a Lexus 350RX and really hated the new front-end and price on the smaller Lexus NX SUV. So I decided to test drive the CX-5 on a Thursday because the reviews were pretty good for service at Tustin Mazda. Drove in and met Rossi Benavente. I told him right off the bat that I wasn't buying a car today as I just wanted to see if I liked the drive and interior of the car. He was extremely nice and accommodating - low-key & non-pressure (and didn't react negatively to my comment that I wasn't buying a car that day). LOVED the car!! Not a heavy drive like the Lexus & it zipped around nicely. Obviously depends on what you are looking for in a driving experience..I had also test driven the BMW-X1 & Audi Q3. But, for the value I felt this might be a good choice. Did some homework, came up with what I thought was a fair offer and emailed Rossi on Saturday a.m. (I didn't try and lowball, just asked if he could meet what I thought was a fair price for a pretty much loaded vehicle (didn't need the Activsense option). But I wanted everything else: nav, back up camera, roof rack, all weather mat & cargo mat, red color/parchment seats, heated seats, etc, etc. Oh, and I had also been to CarMax with my Lexus so I knew what they were offering to pay for my car so I needed to first get that done if everything worked out with Mazda (I didn't want to hassle with a private sale for my car). Rossi got back to me immediately and said he would check and see what he could do (it was actually his day off & he had just dropped in so I was lucky he saw my email). He called me after a bit and said he had good & bad news. I said what was the bad news figuring they were going to say a higher price, but no, he said they couldn't get rear end sensors! I could live with that as it had a back-up cam! They accepted my price, matched CarMax (saving me that trip), and even beat my credit union on financing by about 1/3! How could you beat that? Went down and got everything done in about 2 hours. With my Lexus, it had always taken 5 ridiculous hours even though I had bought from the same dealer before. This Mazda's service dept. isn't open on Sundays so I couldn't get the all weather mat & cargo mat that day, and had to return on Monday to pick them up which I did. Easy-peasy...not to mention how unbelievable friendly everyone was! Obviously, I haven't driven the car long enough to really rate it but so far I'm very happy with my purchase experience. Cargo space is surprisingly roomy and backseats lay down flat. I will say the nav system isn't as easy as my Lexus and Mazda's live traffic isn't great (you can get Sirius XM radio but not the Sirius traffic portion for this car). But I can live without it as you can always use your iPhone. The BMW, Audi and Lexus NX would have been quite a bit more with the same options. My first Mazda and I highly recommend checking out this dealership and working with Rossi if you are in the market for a cross-over SUV. read more

My first encounter with Tustin Mazda was when I was trading in my 2002 Protégé 5 for a brand new 2005 Mazda 6. I was amazed with the staff. I as a single mom was in there with my 3yr old and 5. They were in John Patterson's office bugging him with a bunch of questions and he took the time to talk with them. Now I know most people would think oh honey, they just want to make a sale.. as that is what I figured as well at the time. I thought wait until the sale is done and then see. Well the sale was done and every time I went in for an oil change things never changed with the personal attention. I would be in the service department and John and his fleet mgr Jim Feinstein would come looking for the boys. Even today my boys are 14 and 16 and they still look for them to say "hi" and find out what's new with them. Have you ever been treated like family from a dealership? I never had until I came to Tustin Mazda. After my lease of the Mazda 6, I leased the all new Mazda 5. I have leased from Tustin Mazda a new Mazda every 3 years. Today I just leased my 6th Mazda, the 2016 Mazda 3. Not just any Mazda 3, but I had specific wants that is comparable to finding a needle in a haystack! I wanted the 2016 S-Grand Touring in Soul Red, with Almond leather, and the 6-speed manual trans. Only 1, yes 1 available in So Cal, and they found it for me and had to do a huge dealer trade for it, and they did it for me...little ol me. They could have tried to sell me on the one they had there but they truly want you to be exuberant about the car you drive home in. They will do just about anything to help make your dreams come true, aside from making your car payment. Haha Thank you Jim Feinstein and everyone who helped make this happen for me. I use to dread buying a car but Tustin Mazda has done it right... true customer satisfaction all the way. From the sales department, service department,(Sarah and Renee are awesome), and parts. After 22 years, it was time to replace my car which had only a 2 star frontal crash test rating. I started visiting dealerships checking out various offerings. Just coming out of the covid and chip shortages, most of the dealers had markups over msrp or added aftermarket accessories. I often listen to Jerry Reynolds on his Saturday radio show Car Pro and visited his website and found Tustin Mazda to be a certified preferred dealer. Before driving the 18 miles I visited Mazda dealerships much closer although they were not in Car Pro listings. Why Mazda? No stop/start at intersections, a standard automatic transmissions in lieu of a CVT or Dual Clutch plus 5 star crash test ratings and top dependability ratings. The CX-30 caught my eye and is a favorite of cable shows like MotorTrend. Tustin Mazda had no markup over MSRP and no aftermarket accessory addons. I first met with Jim Feinstein who then introduced me to Chance. Chance informed me they do not require a credit application for an all cash transaction unlike the other dealerships. In addition, Chance really knew the Mazda models and their options. He showed me they had a Preferred level CX-30 due in a few weeks in the color combination we were looking for. He reserved it for us without requiring a deposit. As the car made its way from the plant to their dealership, Chance kept me informed. Upon delivery, we did a test drive and went to the bank for a cashier's check. Since then, Chance has been a wealth of knowledge on the various features and functions of the CX-30. I'll try to find the answers in the owner's manual first but it covers various models so I text Chance. He responds almost immediately even on his day off! His answers are spot on and clear. In fact I call him "the professor". 10 months later Chance still is there to assist me. The first complimentary service was impressive as the technician even recorded highlights of his work which they shared with me. This CX-30 is an absolute delight to drive with its 186 HP SkyActive non-turbo engine and smooth auto/manual transmission, all wheel drive and economy (25.6 mpg average and that's mostly in town trips!). This place is another fraudulent dealer. They refused to fix the broken thump sound while under warranty that was coming from the drive line, even though I spent a total of 6 hours on 3 separate days there dealing with the mechanics/advisers. while under warranty w/ low miles. The mechanic, to get out of the situation, said this is 'normal' and all Mazda's more or less make the sound. It is NOT normal!!!! I can hear loose rattle!!! I myself replaced the clutch and suspension on my BMW M5 before-- I know how cars work. While the car was in they replaced the Air Filter and other misc minutia things that literally take 2-3 min to do and charged me over $100 for the labor (I had declined these 'repairs') when I dropped it off, while not fixing the initial broken suspension thump sound that I requested. A Mazda is really a fancy looking Ford. These guys are fraud. I'm actually going to do 3x DIY videos on Mazda's issues - one where I fix the 'broken by design' suspension thump, one where I fix the A/C (compressor fails for many people), and re-fill the 'broken-by-design' transmission with new fluid (the transmissions are terrible in these cars). In those videos I will make sure people hear about Tustin Mazda fraud and they will explicitly show whats broken and what they refused to fix so other people don't get frauded. I hope to damage Tustin Mazdas credibility and expose them by showcasing the 'warranty service claims papers', especially if the videos get over 100,000 views like my more successful DIY videos on YouTube. Stay tuned. Don't go here, they put up a nice face but are really a wolf in sheep clothing. This place makes my blood boil. We just bought our 6th Mazda from Tustin Mazda. My wife and I have bought numerous vehicles over the years. Tustin Mazda stands head and shoulders above the rest. Let me explain why. First, John Patterson the owner. John is the ONLY owner to ever make himself available to the customer. He has an office on the sales floor and is constantly walking the floor. He takes the time to approach each customer and ensure they are being taken care of. John is also very involved with charities. As for salesman, we only work with Jim Feinstein. Jim isn't the typical high pressure salesman that most car dealerships are known for. On numerous occasions, Jim has taken the time out of his busy schedule to show us vehicles, only for my wife and I to leave undecided. Jim also came in on New Years Day to sell a car us a car because my son's car died on him. Jim has never pressured us into buying a vehicle. He also takes the time to learn what you are looking for, as well as your budget and will look for vehicles that fit into both. Jim also makes sure to get you the best deal he possibly can, making the customer feel valued. Sarah in service is the best service adviser anyone could ask for. She doesn't sell you on service you don't need and has always taken care of us. Recently, I called her because two of my other Mazda's had their dash melt when we experienced 100+ degree temps. Researching on line revealed numerous problems and class action lawsuits because Mazda wasn't fixing the problem. I caled Sarah and she told me to bring them in and she would replace them. Four years ago I was referred to Tustin Mazda by a friend. I had never owned a Mazda in my life and I have been driving for 53 years. My friend told me to see Shaun McCray. I bought a 3 year old Mazda M3-I. Because the dealer is close to my home and because of service done under warranty I actually spent a lot of time there over the last 4 years. In my life I have NEVER been treated better than at this dealer and that includes everyone from the top down....Mr. Patterson, the owner, Shaun McCray, my salesman, and everyone in the service department. They are all unbelievable! Then two weeks ago I showed up at Tustin Mazda just to check out some cars. Originally my plan was to buy a new 2016 which would have been discounted. Then Shaun pointed out that the inventory was limited for M3 2016 models and suggested looking at a brand new 2017 M3. They checked my credit and it had gotten much better over the past several years. Shaun suggested a lease. Well I drive 20,000 miles a year and I figured a lease would be crazy because of my mileage. I test drove an M3 sport and loved it. Then Shaun blew my mind. He said I could lease this car with a built-in mileage of 20.000 per year and nothing down. My payment would be $28 more per month for 39 months than I was paying for my 7 year old Mazda. Shaun is simply amazing and literally took such good care of me and my concerns. THIS REVIEW IS SOLELY ON THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. (NOT THE MECHANICS OR SALES DEPT) The service dept. employees are rude.... Well there are 3 of them that are rude. (I am going to be nice and not post their names, they know who they are.) I have seen them have attitudes with other customers besides me. And this isn't a one off because I have been in here twice and they were disrespectful both times. (the same three employees) I start off talking to one service department employee and the next thing I know the other 2 service department employees are involved also. So it ends up that one service dept. employee tells me one thing then another service dept. person chimes in and tells me something completely different. What the heck? They need to be updated on the cars, rules and regulations etc. so every service department employee gets on the same page and tells the customer the same thing. And the cashier has the worst attitude. Personally with me, she is always impolite(its her jealousy) but what is even more sad of any employee is to be prejudice . She is and she shows it. On both occasions(visits) she had a prejudice attitude towards me. SO sad. I cant believe Mazda would have someone like that as their cashier or any position that interacts with customers. That looks bad on Mazda. I would love to be able to say that these employees were just having a bad day..... but I had a bad experience with them on two different occasions. read more

Best car shopping experience ever. I work in automotive for a living and have seen the hell customers experience, from personal and professional experience. But, Tustin Mazda is far from that typical car shopping experience. We actually had a lot of fun while shopping for my 2017 CX5. Yes, we were there for a few hours, but it did NOT feel like it. We stayed busy, everyone there treated us like family, they moved us along quickly in the process and they actually worked the deal for us. The dealership was totally comfortable, everyone was very helpful, friendly and welcoming. We personally worked with the Internet Fleet Manager - Jim Feinstein and the GSM - Jeff Walker, was also hands on. Jim had a lot to do with our wonderful experience and a lot of the positive aspects mentioned previously. Not too long after my purchase Jefferson from the service department contacted me to introduce himself on behalf of the service team and gave me a number to text them for whenever I need service. Most of the people who work there have been there for, 5, 10, 15+ years, which is incredible! As I said above, I work in automotive and dealers typically have a high turnover, every 6 months-1 year. I think a lot of this circles back to the owner, John Patterson. May 26, yes the holiday, we purchased a Mazda 6! On such a busy day, the entire staff was professional, courteous and helpful. My intention was to try and put myself into a better situation than I was in with the car I had. I was greeted by Victor Centeno from Sales who was very personable from day one. I explained my current situation-the interest rate on my current loan is too high and the car had issues. I don't want a payment over $400.00 and I want the lowest interest rate possible. If you can comply with that, I'll buy a car. Victor showed me several cars and explained the features and price of each car. We looked at the Mazda 3's in different colors and features. Victor was very patient and I never felt like he was trying to upsell me on a car I didn't want. Victor introduced me to John Patterson/President who was very nice. I filled out the application and my credit was run. Victor then brought Eric Casillas-the General Sales Manager over. Eric explained the situation with my trade-in and that I was upside down with the value which I knew already. Eric discussed the options available to me. I was approved at a much lower rate and my payment did not increase. I would like to say that Victor made this purchase the most pleasant auto purchase I have ever experienced!!
