Extremely disappointed with my experience at Tustin Toyota. DO NOT go to Tustin Toyota if you don't want to deal with headaches and lack of knowledgeable employees. These people are supposed to be experts in this field since it is dealing with people's safety. But if they can't even get a simple ToyotaCare service right and instead make up their own incorrect recommendations, that is extremely concerning. Potentially wasting mine, OR YOURS if you come here without being knowledgeable of your vehicle needs. My truck was dropped off at 8:45 AM for a scheduled appointment. My service advisor, Victor Martinez, told me that because my truck had 23K miles instead of 20K, I could no longer use my 20K ToyotaCare service. He said I would either need to pay $79.99 for an oil change or use my 30K service, even though my truck only had 23K miles. That didn't sound right, so I asked Victor to show me the policy in writing. His response was, "I never said that" (about it being a written policy). After going back and forth, he finally spoke with his service manager and confirmed that he was incorrect. I COULD use my 20K service. Had I not questioned him, I would have unnecessarily paid for an oil change or burned my 30K service 7,000 miles early. That makes me seriously question how many customers are given similar information and simply accept it because they trust their service advisor. The shuttle experience was also a bit frustrating. Patricia Ortiz told me the driver would be back around 1:55PM. I specifically explained that if the shuttle couldn't reach me by approximately 2:15-2:20, I would take a Lyft instead. She reassured me it would. At 2:20, I called again and was told the driver had left about 10 minutes earlier. After another 20 minutes with no ride, I canceled and ordered a Lyft. The shuttle finally arrived at the same time as my Lyft. Patricia was also passive-aggressive and dismissive on the phone. Also, Tustin Toyota already knew my truck needed a recall completed. I had rescheduled this appointment twice, with the recall specifically noted. And they still had no parts available for the recall. In my opinion customers shouldn't have to research Toyota's policies and challenge their service advisor just to receive the services they're entitled to. The inaccurate information, poor communication, and lack of accountability made this an extremely disappointing experience. read more

Brought my car in for routine maintenance, but the experience was bogged down by high-margin upsells. They tried to push a $399.95 "Fuel System Service" and a $209.95 "A/C Evaporator Cleansing," neither of which were tied to any actual symptoms or manufacturer-recommended milestones for my mileage. To top it off, they quoted $159 for a tire alignment without even checking to see if it was out of spec. When you can get a free alignment check elsewhere and a professional alignment done for nearly half that price, it's hard to trust recommendations here. If you come here, make sure to double-check your owner's manual and decline the fluff. I am very disappointed with my recent experience. I ordered parts online based on the company's stated 24-48 hour processing time, but it took approximately 3 days just to process the order. What made the experience worse was being transferred around between departments when I tried to get an update. After finally reaching the appropriate department, the response I received was essentially, "If you can't wait, then go buy it at the retail store." I understand that delays can happen, but customers should be given accurate information and treated respectfully when they ask for assistance. If the stated processing time cannot be met, the company should communicate that clearly rather than pushing the customer from department to department. During my most recent visit, after requesting my vehicle at the early drop-off area, I was instructed to wait. I waited approximately 20 minutes without receiving any communication or update regarding my vehicle. During that time, I observed the employee responsible for retrieving vehicles continuously bringing other vehicles while I was still waiting. When I approached the employee who was distributing the keys to ask about the status of my vehicle, he was rude and dismissive and stated that they were understaffed. For identification purposes, the employee was a heavier-set male wearing glasses with some facial hair/a beard working today's shift @6pm I understand that staffing shortages can occur; however, that is not the customer's responsibility and should not be used as an excuse for poor customer service. If they were truly understaffed, I also question why this employee could not have assisted the other employee with retrieving vehicles rather than leaving customers waiting without any communication. Considering the amount of money customers spend having their vehicles serviced at this location, a higher level of customer service should be expected. Even a courtesy car wash would have been appreciated, particularly after paying for significant service. More importantly, I have a serious concern regarding previous work performed on my vehicle. Prior to bringing my vehicle in for service, my brakes were functioning normally. When I picked up my vehicle after the brake fluid was changed, the brake pedal was going nearly to the floor and felt significantly different. I immediately informed my service advisor of the issue. When I returned today for another service, I specifically asked the advisor whether he had looked into my previous concern. I was told that air had gotten into the brake system, which was the reason the brakes felt different. This explanation is extremely concerning to me. If air entered the brake system during the service, I believe this should have been identified before my vehicle was returned to me. A mechanic should have properly checked the braking system and, if appropriate, road-tested the vehicle after performing brake-related work to ensure the vehicle was operating safely before releasing it to the customer. I should not have received my vehicle with a brake pedal that felt dramatically different from when I brought it in and then have to raise the issue myself. Between the lack of communication, the rude interaction with the employee, and most importantly my concerns regarding the condition in which my vehicle was returned following brake service, I have lost confidence in this location. I will not be returning to this location for future service. I am requesting that management review my concerns, including the previous brake service performed on my vehicle, and address the customer service issues I experienced. read more

This is a long overdue review. It's from my experience with this organization in March 2026. I took my 2022 Toyota forerunner under the advisement of my advisor Hawke, to work on suspected rat damage to wires in my engine. The same morning I took my vehicle in, he was kind enough to recommend me filing a claim with the insurance believing it to be something that would be covered. That sounded like a great suggestion, but it led to weeks of issues between the insurance company and the service advisor, a huge game of cat and mouse with no effective communication. Toyota was trying to tell me that the entire wiring harness of my engine needed to be replaced and it would cost about $9000, the insurance had other thoughts.. Toyota was not proactive in reaching out to my insurance to get a response yet they just sat and waited wasting days I had to use rental car coverage and I was out of my own vehicle. When I finally decided to pull my vehicle from Toyota to have it worked on elsewhere at a significantly cheaper rate and by sign significantly I mean, I saved myself thousands of dollars, Toyota wanted to charge me $900 to put my vehicle back together so I could simply pull it out out of the shop. They eventually reduce the rate a little bit, but I just decided to have it towed out.. Also, for the majority of the time that my vehicle was with Toyota, I was the go-between between my insurance company and the dealership and I was overseas so I had to waste my own time managing the initial repairs when I believe that's something that Toyota should've been doing, after all my truck was in their care. From my personal perspective, I didn't appreciate how they lack initiative to communicate in a timely manner with the insurance to get updates and see really what could be done. I was out of a vehicle for weeks and unfortunately lost trust in this organization. I have since found another body shop that I feel much more comfortable in and has fixed my vehicle with absolutely no hassle. read more

Purchased a remanufactured alternator from Tustin Toyota since it was the cheapest in the area and the original lasted 200k+ miles so I figured I should just stick with Toyota/Denso. The Toyota parts website makes it easy to order the correct part. The prices are also very reasonable. It ended up being slightly more expensive than Rockauto for the same part but with faster availability. When I put it in I knew it was defective out of the box because the battery light was dimly lit while running whereas it was not before. The voltage checked out OK but I was skeptical. I asked them if there was a warranty and they told me Toyota parts are covered for 1 year. I figured I might as well use it until it broke. 1 month later the alternator failed to charge my battery and left me stranded. I inquired about a warranty exchange, told them my symptoms and VIN number, and after some back and forth they agreed to replace the alternator under warranty. They let me know when the part was ready. All I had to do was to give them the defective part and they handed me the warranty replacement. I've been coming to the dealership for years when my cars need any type of service. The location is very nice and the building itself is always clean and well kept. The service members are extremely nice and always very helpful. However, their pricing is through the roof. A lot more than I believe is fair for the type of work that it needs to get done for the job. They do offer a complementary shuttle service to get you back home however it is always very backed up and can take over an hour just to get you on. My experience was that the representative did not show enough concern with the problem I had reported. While visiting the dealership for my 10k maintenance, I mentioned that my panoramic window retraction was making a rough sound while opening only the internal part and not the window itself. Just want to start off by saying if you ever have any hesitation in getting a new truck from Toyota , get it it was so worth it .
