​If I could give this service department zero stars, I would. Save yourself the stress and take your vehicle literally anywhere else. They engage in deceptive billing tactics and slap you with a retaliatory service ban the second you stand up for your rights. ​I brought my Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) Mazda in for a component failure. Not only did corporate refuse to honor the CPO warranty, but the dealership's staff tried to exploit the situation. Because I chose to have the repairs done at an independent shop rather than pay Tustin Mazda's inflated prices, they completely turned on me. ​When I requested to extend the loaner car over the weekend out of pocket, Assistant Service Manager Josh Vasquez sent me a text attempting to charge me $250 instead of the fair $150 weekend rate (Saturday, Sunday, Monday at $50/day). He tried to retroactively back-bill me for Thursday and Friday--days Mazda Corporate had already agreed to cover! ​When I immediately forced a three-way call between Josh and Mazda Corporate, his story fell apart, and his twisted logic was exposed. He scrambled and admitted that he hadn't "received" payment for Thursday and Friday simply because he chose not to bill corporate yet. He actually argued that he stopped billing them to "do corporate a favor"--but then tried to force me to pay out-of-pocket for those days instead! Let that sink in: he wanted me to pay a retroactive $100 penalty because of his own deliberate internal billing delays. Once corporate explicitly confirmed on the line that they were fully willing to cover those days, he was forced to drop the fake charges. ​But the unprofessionalism didn't stop there. Because I caught them trying to squeeze unearned money out of me and refused to let them play games with the math, they threw a literal corporate tantrum. Josh sent me a text stating that Tustin Mazda would "no longer provide service" for my vehicle in the future. When I returned the vehicle, I asked Josh who made the final call to ban a customer simply for refusing to be wrongfully back-billed. He admitted the decision came directly from Service Director Michael Torres. ​Michael Torres and Josh Vasquez would rather ban a customer than take accountability for their own shady, convoluted behavior. They are predatory, retaliatory, and completely lack integrity. If you are a woman or a military family who expects honesty and transparent billing, do not trust these individuals. They will try to bully you if you don't blindly hand over your wallet. ​Shame on you, Josh, and shame on you, Director Torres. You didn't break me; you just exposed exactly how your department operates. read more

Then Tony Mattingly takes it away! I had 3 error messages on my car. Turned out my hybrid engine had to be replaced. Over $3,000 in warranty repairs. Tony lent me a fairly new CX5 or 3 (I forget) that took me through over a week and a half or repairs (waiting for the engine to arrive). Returning the rental and getting my car back was smooth and quick. Their lounge is alot more comfortable with spaces to work. They have small snacks by the receptionist. So, after weeks of watching several YouTube videos discussing the Miata RF, we decided on choosing that model. We went to a couple of other dealerships, and the Mazda location was our last stop. Jim was not available when we showed up, but he had Omar help us out. Omar is quite a peculiar person, but in a good way. He was so laid back and answered all our questions. He took me on a test drive and wow! I was smiling at just how much I enjoyed the Miata. We were dreading THE talk, you know, the one that usually either ends in tears and shouting. We didn't experience this at all. There was absolutely no pressure to buy the car. Unfortunately, they couldn't meet our numbers (I saved my tears for the car ride home), but it really wasn't a bad experience. Omar was really chill and didn't try to push us to buy. There were no game of 21 Questions. It came down to not only price, but the car color. Although we loved the red, we felt safer with having a white Miata. They didn't have any white, manual, GT Miata RFs and we didn't want to settle. I'd highly recommend this dealership. Engine on my 2016 that I purchased new and sole ownered from Patterson Mazda (the most local dealership to North American HQ) blew at 74k miles with proper verified maintenance 4k miles within warranty with a documented service bulletin. Engine codes match exactly. Mazda Corporate Customer Service Experience Center will only offer minor goodwill ($2k) to get my engine ($10k), a major powertrain component, repaired/replaced or back on the road since we're a calendar year out of the warranty. No help or reconsideration when I told them that I have an extended warranty not just the basic standard manfacturers warranty. Pure stonewalled and repeated "no" with no further information. Wouldn't even transfer me to a supervisor. I have a TSB that matches my vehicles issues. Essentially, don't buy a Mazda from here unless you want to be left on the side of the road without anyone willing to even speak to you. Customer Service is now further denying me access to speak with my case manager, saying it is final, even though their information on the warranty I have was sorely inaccurate. I paid or extended warranty and the still won't cover it or even consider a better consumer participation split due to the calendar date. $30k spent with Mazda and I now have a lump of scrap metal. 3rd and last Mazda. Genuinely do not care about customers. I spent an hour on the phone with them waiting for a supervisor to file a complaint to. The last rep said it was a callback within 24 hours, but this rep started denying my request to talk to the case manager or the supervisor. Rajini and Yarelis in particular were incredibly unhelpful, uninterested in getting information from me, rude, and hid behind emails, supervisors, bad "extension" information for the IVR, and repeated scripts of "the decision is final there is nothing further we can do." I even got hung up on waiting for Yarelis twice, each a different occasion. So instead I called the BBB Auto Helpline and filed a claim to now go through arbitration before I decide to send demand letters and move to the legal route to compel Mazda to honor their contractual agreements, in letter AND in spirit, for the sake of their lifetime customers. I suggest everyone else be aware of the BBB Auto Helpline as Mazda is a binding arbitration participant of the program. I will never purchase another Mazda from anywhere, but, especially not from Patterson Mazda. Mazda does not honor the spirit of its contractual obligations with their customers. I came in with a gift card and was told by Gracie how I should've presented this at the beginning (when I wasn't told or asked about this). She is also the cashier, and it seems appropriate to mention this to the person I am essentially checking out with for my car services. She mentioned how this isn't her job, I apologized for any inconveniences and was basically ignored. It didn't give great energy.
