This is the kind of restaurant where you have to order the "right" menu items. And when you do, they're delicious! Stick to the vegetarian stuff, like hummus, feta dishes, grape leaves, falafel, salads- you'll be very pleased. Again, stick to the script- don't order anything "unusual" off the menu because it probably won't be good. The typical Mediterranean staples are, however, excellent and of good quality ingredients. Cons: slow service, pricey, small portions. The space itself could use a fresh coat of paint and new carpeting. It doesn't scream "maintained" when you walk in, but I can get over that. read more

A great foodie find. We got the grilled octopus app. Savory, and fresh sautéed garlic. Tender. And we also got the Sheperd salad with feta. Very fresh, and perfectly balanced with the light vinagrette dressing. So good, couldn't stop eating Both the salad and the octopus. Beautiful warm inviting decor inside. Friendly owner that welcomed us. We only got as far as the appetizers but the dinner entrees looked amazing. We can't wait to come visit again. read more

Food was tasty but the portions were tiny for the prices. Ordered the grilled octopus for 12.95 and received two arms about 5 inches each and very thin. The hot meze platter for 24.95 was disappointing. Atmosphere was lacking. Wait staff was pleasant but seemed inexperienced. Ordered a bottle of wine and did not bring what I ordered, when the correct bottle came out, the waitress just filled the three glasses with out letting one of us taste and approve it . This is one of the best restaurants in Larchmont. I went for the first time a couple months ago with my family, and I instantly fell in love. They do EVERYTHING well. The service was amazing, the food was spectacular, and the atmosphere is wonderful. 6 STARS! read more

I have gone to this place quite a few times, on both a date and with the family. My date loved it and since she was happy I was happy. When my family ate here everyone was all smiles as we enjoyed our meal. Once the food came out all you heard ate the table were "mmm" and "yum." I like basically everything at this place so when i go I get the sampler platters so i get the chance to eat a whole range of foods. Cold appetizers to start and the mixed grill of hot food for the meal. I don't even need to look at the menu anymore. The service and ambiance is great too. All that's left to say is that I will definitely be going back to Turquoise again. read more

Nice spot. We sat outside, which was very pleasant, and got the hot meze plate and the octopus appetizer. Both were deliciously seasoned (glad that it was served with a lemon wedge-much needed) and the food didn't feel as heavy as Turkish food usually does. The food is decent (baba is solid, hummus is a little dry) but not great since i'm used to great turkish/med food at much cheaper prices in Portland, Or. Very disappointing. The menu looks interesting, but the food was very dull. I had the seafood couscous. The couscous was fine, but the vegetables were over cooked as was the seafood, and the seasoning, if there was any, was bland. But there was worse. The Turquoise Delight vegetarian dish was dull beyond words. We also had the grilled octopus starter. Two arms of octopus on an otherwise bare plate. Slightly over cooked, and the only discernible dressing was the oil used to cook it. Certainly not worth the rather high prices asked. We will not return, despite being offered a free meal at a later date. read more

I have been going to Turquoise since it first opened up in Mamaroneck 12 years ago and have followed it to Larchmont. It's amazing to me that I have never been disappointed--- either in the food or the service. Going to Turquoise is like going home----everyone knows you and cares for you and the food is natural, and made to order. They rarely if ever, turn over their help, so you get the same smiling faces year after year. If there were such a thing as an "exotic neighborhood haunt", Turquoise would be it. Owner Emin Acar and manager Necdet Kosimoglu have a joyful, welcoming sense that you just don't really find anywhere else. It's hard to find a place with a warm welcome and a great meal, but Turquoise does just that. The owner always welcomes my girlfriend and I with open arms and a glass of wine. The wait staff is genuinely friendly and very attentive. The atmosphere and lighting is very relaxing without being pretentious. Great for a first date, or if you're like us eating at our favorite table the bar. For hummus freaks like me it's a must have at Turquoise along with their grilled octopus. The shrimp or chicken kabob is a regular dish we order with their Greek salad at least once a week. Went for the first time this week for lunch - what a great surprise! Although almost empty (we were there at an odd time), it was comfortable and inviting - the server was very attentive. Really good restaurant! Nice to see a turkish place in Westchester amongst the dozens of italian restaurants which seem to be everywhere. Originally wanted to order the grilled octopus appetizer, only to be informed they were sold out for the night. The chef was extremely gracious and apologetic, and offered us the appetizer on the house when we return. Got the grilled calamari app instead, delicious! We ordered 2 vegetarian entrees: the Turquoise a la turka and Spinach Primavera. Both were served with couscous, very generous portions. Restaurant has nice atmosphere near entrance because of the lanterns.. however closer to back decor is a bit bland, could use a little energy/warmth. All in all a positive experience! If you want some delicious and authentic Turkish cuisine, it does not get any better than Turquoise. I'm in here at least once a week with my mother (sometimes father) when I'm at home and it's for a reason: it's f@#$ing delicious. Everything is so good. Here are some highlights/tips: 1). Ask if they have hellim cheese as an appetizer when you go. It by far one of the most delicious and interesting cheeses I've ever had and I say this as a cheese enthusiast. Think a grilled cheese without the bread...and then some. Salty, kind of buttery, delicious, and lactose-free! (it's a sheep cheese). 2). If you're not into pita, you can ask for lavash which is a thinner bread. It's tortilla-esque, but it tastes a lot better than pita (to me anyway) and it's got protein! Woo! 3). If you go with someone who is a picky eater, make them get Swarma. It is actually the most delicious pile of lamb, pita, tomato sauce and yogurt sauce I have ever eaten. When my boyfriend came home with me over a break a few months ago, he got it (I told him to) and now he's having a hard time finding as good of a swarma in Portland. 4). They have the BEST HUMMUS EVER. Order something with hummus. Oh my god. read more

AMAZING food here. The owner really take care that is it fresh and cooked just right. It is nicely presented with friendly service. A must if you like Greek food and a must if you like healthy, fresh food that satisfies. I have been coming here for years - even take-out after getting off a late train home from the city and they never disappoint. In warm weather, Turquoise Gourmet has tables outside on Larchmont's sidewalks. Larchmont is a really cute town and the terrace tables are very enjoyable on a hot-summer's day. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful. It is sectioned into different parts. On the right, there are comfortable couches and low tables, perfect for enjoying a coffee with some friends during the day or delicious cocktails during the evening. On the far right is a bar. The chairs are high and comfortable, and the staff is extraordinarily kind. However, the bar top(which is made of metal), although once smooth i am sure, has been indented and damaged over time and may need some refining. The entire left side is sectioned off by a low wall, giving one a more private feeling. It is true that the lighting is a bit too dim but the restaurant is nicely decorated with what I believe are antique Turkish lights. These lights are gorgeous. Also, the path to the bathroom is very well lit, and the bathroom is clean and spacious. The staff is very welcome and won't hesitate to assist you in anyway you may need to. They serve well, the food is beautifully presented and they are very friendly. If you come more than once, they will definitely recognize you and treat you especially well. The team is laid back and easy going, all while being attentive and helpful. The food is a composition of delicious mediterranean specialties. As appetizers I enjoy the hot and cold meze plates, the former a compositions of hot appetizers (grilled vegetables, pancakes, meats) and the latter a composition of cold ones (feta cheese, humus, olives). However, I especially love the grilled calamari served as a dinner appetizer. I am not a fan of well cooked meat, I prefer mine rare, so usually don't get the kebabs and doner, but my friends who try it tell me it's delicious. If you enjoy well cooked meats, this place has great lamb and chicken pieces. I prefer their soups (the vegetable soup and lentil soup are both great with a little bit of lemon). Their hummus has the perfect medium of garlic, chickpeas and tahini. The coffee is a bit too thick for my preference, but it is a typical turkish coffee, and that is how they are made and served in Turkey (but if asked, the staff will adjust the coffee to your taste). The deserts are very sweet and a bit heavy but are exactly what you look for after a salad or light dinner, or after a nice lunch. I strongly recommend this place to anyone, from the couple to the family, to the party, they treat you right. They organize catering events (I have been to one) that are wonderful as well. It is situated near the train station and is a great place place for the daily commuter to come relax with a nice beer or a glass of wine or cocktail after a long day's work. Or, for the more family man, a perfect rendez-vous for that family dinner. A must! read more

Turquoise is probably one of the best Turkish restaurants I have ever eaten at. From the minute you walk into this place you feel as if you have been transported to Turkey. From the colorful decorative lamps that hang from the celing to the Turkish music that is played throughtout the resteraunt. The owner is so welcoming and the staff if so efficient. With all this being said, the food is delicious and wonderfully prepared. Every meal that I have eaten here was fantastic. From the appitizers to the main course. My favorite is the mixed grill which is an assortiment of meats and chicken with flavorful spices. This is a great restaurant and would rather eat here than some overpriced overrated Turkish restaurant in the city. read more

Check your bill closely. These are not good people and they will rip you off. The restaurant is becoming quite notorious for over charging and adding extras to your bill. The place used to be crowded several nights a week but in recent years their patrons have been going elsewhere. While the owner is shaking your hand he is picking your pocket. You want good Turkish food, go to Mamaroneck. read more

Went with friends two weeks in a row- first experience was this: looong wait for food whilst no one else was in the place - presentation of food nice, taste -yummy. Second experience, quite different. no food, appetizers or apologies after 40 minutes, still the place was empty beside my friends and me. Same exact food ordered by my friend and me but this time, the food was quite different both in presentation and taste. When we queried the owner as to the change, he defensively responded that he has made this dish for 15 years and it is always the same. Trust me, it wasn't. Then when we kindly explained the differences, he said "Oh you didn't get peppers?" Then he proceeded to bring us a huge plate of peppers (an obvious %$*& you to us). Rude response to a simple and quite easily remedied problem. THEN unbelievably, he asked my friend while she was paying the bill if AND I QUOTE, "Do you women work EVER?" IS this guy hoping to stay in business? Are you kidding me? How dare he be so insulting after his place of BUSINESS is empty on a quite populated street in a a small town during a lunch hour. Needless to say, he lost NINE customers today. Perhaps he should rethink his tableside manners. read more
