5 Stars!! I have been coming here for several years and when you think it cannot get any better it does. Ali the owner and his talented staff always make the experience great no matter how busy the restaurant is. I came here with very good friends of mine that I knew loved Turkish food. We came here on Saturday night and when I arrived the restaurant was packed. Despite that we never felt rushed, they were well staffed and worked together as a well oiled machine to make the experience flawless. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The weather was perfect so we sat outside, there is ample parking either in their parking lot or across the street.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is beautifully decorated with hand blown glass chandeliers from Turkey.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For the sake of brevity I'm going to list all the dishes we had. Each one had its own unique flavor down to the Lavos Hollow bread with its slightly buttery flavor. You have to try each one. Prices are very fair and portions are great. We had the eggplant with tomato sauce, Turkish Ezme, Calves liver cubes, a large Shepherd salad, for appetizers. For entrees we had two of the Bronzino, the Shrimp Shish, and the Lamb Shish. For desert we had the Chocolate Baklava, the Kunefe, the Turkish coffee, and a of the Apple tea. Ali made a couple of special dishes including an eggplant dish and home made hot Halvah for desert. It's amazing how small the world really is. My friends thought they knew the owner Ali but could not pinpoint from where. After talking for a while they realized they knew him from when he worked at another Turkish restaurant in Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn called Liman. It has since moved to Coney Island. Ali opened Bosporus Cafe Grill in Port Washington in 2014 and I'm am glad he took the risk to go out on his own. His business partner is the chef and is also a butcher. They've combined their talents to provide one of the best restaurants experiences you will ever have. I've been coming here for several years and it never gets old. My wife and I got lunch here and everything was fresh and absolutely delicious. We share the babaganush, the lavas hollow bread, Bosphorus salad, chicken shish kebab and the beef shaslik. This will be added to my favorites list. We both also got the fig martini, which was good but not totally for me so I'd try a different drink the next time. Highly recommend! read more

They had a very reasonable lunch menu for Sunday afternoon and we got the lentil soup (fantastic, love it), the gyro cheesesteak sandwich (good, probably better in person), the Adana kebab lunch (my husband was raving about the skewer for 2 days), and the chicken wrap which I really enjoyed - tender pieces of chicken with cheese and veggies! I was looking for a new place to take my husband for his birthday and hit the jackpot with Bosphorous Cafe! Everything we ordered was fantastic. My husband had the lentil soup which was puréed and had a lovely flavor. We also had the gyro pide which was great. Went for late lunch (1:45) and only given dinner menu. Knew menu looked different from what I saw online but had never been there before. None of the lunch items were offered even when i asked the waiter about a gyro, I was directed to only the gyro platter for $28.95 and not the lunch gyro for $16.95 on the lunch menu. The pita bread is more like a quartered bagel. The food was very overpriced for lunch and not particularly flavorful or good. It was a disappointing experience. Restaurant is clean & the inside is nicely decorated with beautiful lights & modern touches. There is bar, booth, table, & outdoor seating. Currently igloos but in the summer, tables & umbrellas. Menu is vast, portions are large, prices are fair (the lunch menu is slightly cheaper.) Ive had everything on the cold appetizer menu, eggplant is to die for, my favorite tabouleh, the fresh bread is a must for dipping. Turkish tea is an absolute must and if you save room for dessert you cant go wrong with any of their offerings. Beer, liquor, wine available. Service is amazing. Just discovered Bosphorus Cafe Grill, and I'm so glad I did! We had the authentic fried liver (so good!), delicious moussaka, perfect Turkish pizza, and a super fresh salad with perfectly grilled salmon--moist and flavorful, not dry at all like it often is elsewhere. Cetin was an excellent maître D, making us feel right at home and even putting on French music for us, which made the event extra special. I can't wait to go back and try more of their best dishes! This is a great addition to the Port Washington culinary scene! We didn't do the outdoor dining but did takeout instead. The outdoor dining looked nice though and very popular. For the food, my favorites were the hummus and the baklava, so good! I wish the hummus came with pita instead of the bread but the bread was good. For the entrees we tried the salmon and shrimp. I liked how the shrimp came with grilled vegetables and were well seasoned. The salmon was a little dry and over cooked, and came with a sizeable salad. I wish they had more of a lemon garlic sauce option, as that is usually my go to at Mediterranean restaurants. Overall though it was very good! Will be back to try the chocolate baklava. read more

3.5 stars overall. Lovely spot for Turkish and Mediterranean style eats. Conveniently located near a few shopping plazas and they have parking! The front section normally for parking, is currently for the outdoor dining pods. There are a few four seaters but mainly the pods are made for two. They run snug. Restaurant said they have to be reserved but I didn't have an issue as I went early (6pm on a Friday) and they accommodated us. There are plenty of outdoor tables without the pod but we wanted to be away from the crowds. Saw so many pics of the recommended Lavas Hollow Bread. It is indeed a must try but it didn't come with anything. So we had to order dips/spreads separately (hummus and tzatziki) to accompany that. We ordered the zucchini cakes - skip. Not flavorful or memorable, just plain. For Entrees we had the lamb combo (comes with two types of lamb: Adana and Shish). The Adana was more tender and the shish was a little dry. But good flavors (spices) and the portion was good. And we tried the Fish Delight, which was St. Peter fish. The wait staff couldn't describe it well but we gathered it was filet and white fish. Again, a little on the dry side. My friend didn't care for it. Skipped dessert as it was early and I was on a mission to go somewhere else. We did get to see the inside (main dining room), at a quick glance it was nice and clean. Pretty lamps and fixtures. We came for the Turkish experience but left with mixed reviews. read more

Had the chicken Adana kebab lunch special and it was great! As pictured the lunch option comes with one kebab over a bed of rice with sides, bread and sauce. When I arrived I was quickly helped, and the food was fresh! The ambiance is nice inside but I opted to take my food to go. Truthfully, I was a bit disappointed with Bosphorus. I came with my family for my dad's birthday so we ordered A LOT of food. Some dishes are better than others. For the appetizer I really liked the shepherd's salad. The fried liver cubes were tasteless and I think perhaps slightly spoiled, unsure. The fried zucchini was soggy, the hummus was pretty good, I didn't like the babaganouj, and the bread was good too. For my entree I had my favorite Turkish dish, iskender kebab. The portion was massive (can feed two people easily) and it was pretty good. I've had better, I've had worse. My dad had the lamb platter and he really liked it. I also liked the cabbage side and the rice that came with some of the entrees. We also ordered the regular fries and the Mediterranean fries for the table. Both were fine, regular fries were better. For our desserts we had the kunefe and the baklava sampler. I'm never a fan of baklava but the kunefe was good and I also tried apple tea for the first time which I enjoyed. We also ordered the hollow bread to eat with. It was SO tasty. We kept trying to choose our favorite spread, but they were all so good that we couldn't even choose. Even after we finished the bread, we ate the spreads with our spoons because that's how good they were. For the main course, we ordered the chicken pide and the lamb kebab platter. The chicken pide was really tasty. It was like a pizza but with chicken and Mediterranean spices. The lamb kebab platter was also really delicious. Lamb was perfect cooked, and the assorted of pickled vegetables and salad on the side was great. Last but not least, the rice served with the lamb was SO tasty. I had a recent, solid delivery experience with Bosphorus. It seems that Mediterranean food in this area is pricier than I remember, but for the taste, this spot is definitely a good choice. We got the Muska Borek to start; we liked the flavors, though it was kind of a small portion for the price. We also both got lamb mains, the lamb adana ($25) and lamb combo ($25), which includes a piece of the adana. We both agreed that the adana was the better of the two lamb choices in terms of juiciness and flavor. The rice was good, sure, but I wish there had been a little something else instead of so much rice filler. While Bosphorus Cafe may not have a view of the water, it offers a nice outdoor dining set-up. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Portions are quite large. We started out with the hummus, which their version is super creamy and has a decadent nature to it. It's served with warm bread. We wanted to try their made to order Lavas Hollow Bread, but were told it would take a long time, due to the amount of orders they had. I appreciate being told that, bc we were hungry so skipped it. For our entrees we had the lamb kebobs and the doner (aka gyro) which is only available on the weekends. Both dishes were served with rice, pickled red onion, pickled carrots and red cabbage.
