Ali the owner and his talented staff always make the experience great no matter how busy the restaurant is. I came here with very good friends of mine that I knew loved Turkish food. We came here on Saturday night and when I arrived the restaurant was packed. Despite that we never felt rushed, they were well staffed and worked together as a well oiled machine to make the experience flawless. The weather was perfect so we sat outside, there is ample parking either in their parking lot or across the street. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with hand blown glass chandeliers from Turkey. For the sake of brevity I'm going to list all the dishes we had. Each one had its own unique flavor down to the Lavos Hollow bread with its slightly buttery flavor. You have to try each one. Prices are very fair and portions are great. We had the eggplant with tomato sauce, Turkish Ezme, Calves liver cubes, a large Shepherd salad, for appetizers. For entrees we had two of the Bronzino, the Shrimp Shish, and the Lamb Shish. For desert we had the Chocolate Baklava, the Kunefe, the Turkish coffee, and a of the Apple tea. Ali made a couple of special dishes including an eggplant dish and home made hot Halvah for desert. It's amazing how small the world really is. My friends thought they knew the owner Ali but could not pinpoint from where. After talking for a while they realized they knew him from when he worked at another Turkish restaurant in Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn called Liman. It has since moved to Coney Island. Ali opened Bosporus Cafe Grill in Port Washington in 2014 and I'm am glad he took the risk to go out on his own. His business partner is the chef and is also a butcher. They've combined their talents to provide one of the best restaurants experiences you will ever have. I've been coming here for several years and it never gets old. I highly recommend them for great food, service and atmosphere. There's a lot to see in Port Washington and you can take a stroll by the water afterwards.

The decor is mostly white fixtures and reminiscent of the Mediterranean sea side, adorned with greenery and flowers. There are plants hanging everywhere, ceiling, walls, and is part of the decor in each dining room. Several dining rooms in fact. This place is larger than it seems from the entrance. Multiple sections of seating so you can specify if it's open. The food: portions are huge. Definitely shareable appetizers and a great variety to choose from. We wanted the taramasalata but unfortunately it was not available. So we got the grilled octopus, eggplant appetizer and the American Saganaki. The octopus was quite good and paired with a sprinkling of cut cucumbers and tomatoes. A favorite was the lentil soup. That bowl was quite large and it was very good. Even my picky one asked for some. Dinner entrees were more impressive in size. I ordered the fork tender lamb shank. Well seasoned and not gamey. Sauce was on point, definitely a bit heavy for a summer night dinner but I didn't mind. We opted for the Bulger wheat instead of rice. Great choice as it added another level of flavor to my stew-like sauce. Very enjoyable. My friend ordered the grilled Pompano, white flesh but lots more bones than the branzino. So if you want less work, get the other. But still a very meaty fish for one. Served also with Bulger wheat and vegetables. Skipped on dessert as we were craving something elsewhere. Dinner satisfied our bellies. Parking was easy since Ayhan's let's you use their lot at the corner of the block for all three of his joints. They forgot the modifications for both Greek salad and gyro but charged me anyway. The falafel in the gyro was cold, dry, and honestly inedible, threw the whole gyro out. Didn't even have the tahini in it it was supposed to come with, and had one tomato in it that was.... Decomposing. Completely gross, mealy, and inedible. The salad was absolutely drenched and soggy from dressing, did not add the extra feta requested and charged for, and it had one Kalamata olive. In the entire Greek salad. Also got a side of hummus and it was completely bland and WEIRDLY chunky. I never write negative reviews but I'm shocked from how atrocious that dinner was, and am quite frustrated I wasted money here. This place used the be fantastic- either there are new owners or I happened to catch them on their worst day over, but wow. What a repulsing experience

Waiters grabbing plates without asking, fluctuating between stopping at our tables too frequently or hardly at all (without any input from ourselves), and waiters just having a poor attitude in general; it was not what I expected when I first sat down.
