Leaving I had a chocolate croissant, which was insanely flakey and actually really good (hard to mess up a chocolate croissant.) Stopped by on the way from NYC to Boston for brunch because it was hopping. Unfortunately the experience was mediocre through and through. The food was overpriced for quite small portions-- significantly more expensive than comparable places in Manhattan. Furthermore, the food was bland. So bland that I asked my friends if I was just congested or was it actually that flavorless. The matcha lemonade was watery, slightly sweet and tart. The turkey egg and cheese ($12.50 on card btw) was dry and similarly mild. Many of the greens in the side salad were wilted and it tasted like it was dressed with salt water. On top of all that, the service was very slow. Overall, disappointing and not worth the high price. read more

Been there, done that. I've been curious about this place for a while so finally stopped in for breakfast. I will not be going back. The atmosphere was awesome so I really wanted to like it. I ordered a coffee which was so horrific that exchanged for a cafe au lait. I love strong coffee and bitter coffee but this was not drinkable. To eat I ordered the egg white wrap. It was ok but the seasoning was way too strong and there was no mention of it on the menu. Service was trying to be ok, but they kept checking in what felt like every two minutes and were not very friendly. Far too many better alternatives in the area, not sure how they have lasted so long. read more

Cutest little cafe! Had a post-workout brunch here and no complaints. The dirty chai was yummy (and huge!), and I very much enjoyed my avocado toast. We came in to the cafe to fuel up after visiting the Harbor Island beach. Our waitress was warm and attentive, took our orders swiftly and food was served in 10 minutes. One of the cookies we ordered had a strong cheese smell, thought that was interesting. The mozzarella sticks were warm and chunky, kids enjoyed them very much. I visited the Roaster Cafe with my sister for brunch and coffee. It is a tight indoor establishment, but they offer outdoor seating when the weather is nice. I ordered the Turkish Coffee and Buttermilk pancakes. The coffee was strong and delicious. They used the perfect amount of milk, and it was not too sweet. The pancakes were beautifully displayed and very good. The staff was extremely friendly. I would go back to try different items off their menu. They have so many options to choose from. I kept it simple for my first visit, but I would love to try other items off the menu. Before I left, I purchased a bar of Dubai Chocolate, and I was a 10/10. I am excited to go back! read more

If I was going to take the 7:04am train from GCT to Mamaroneck to meet a colleague for breakfast I Was hoping this place was worth the trip. Luckily, I can say that it was. The standard drip coffee was very good, and the breakfast selections on the menu were quite deep. I settled in on a Turkish breakfast and I'm very happy that I did. We were here on account of the Westchester Turkish mothers online group. It was a brunch get together. The place is not big inside. Tables are small. In order to accomodate the large group tables had to be placed side by side. The ambiance is cozy. Now on to the food. Food was fresh. We had Simit, which if you are not familiar with, is basically a pretzel, but instead of salt on it it's loaded with sesame seeds. And it's not shaped like a pretzel, instead it's circular and round. I had a donor kabab in a wrap without onions and it was pretty good. Overall, I recommend it for a small group with maximum 4 people. Service was okay if a bit impersonal. Also the outdoor space is great for warmer weather with charming tables set out on the sidewalk and parts of the street that are blocked off from car traffic. read more

I found the interior of the cafe beautiful. The leafs draped over the signage. The cute tables filled with wine corks and coffee beans. Even if you were not sure if it was good or not, there is a demand for this cafe of amazing brunch and lunch options. They have decent on the small side portions, but that's okay for me. I had a handful of potato wedges and a high pile of fresh salad already tossed with dressing. Yes, the food was amazing. I had an avocado mediterranean panini. It was filled with fresh avocado. So yummy! It is true. I brought my whole family and my mom and dad are super picky, but they enjoyed their sandwiches (Italian chicken pesto panini and the lamb gyro). My mom's lamb gyro arrived with Tztziki on the side with cucumbers inside. She loved it! My dad had Italian chicken which was so melty in your mouth good. My hubby had the chicken caesar salad and it was light and delicious, not too salty. Just right. Strong Turkish coffee. Dark, rich and magical. My kid ordered the acai bowl, and he said it was cold and soothing. Downside: I agree with some of Yelpers, a couple of servers aren't warm. Now, I'm from Brooklyn, so I know all about less than welcoming service. I also acknowledge that being a waiter or a waitress is a tough job where it is hard to make the bills. I had a couple of waitresses at Roaster Cafe. One who was super helpful and another one who greeted us who was having a bad mood. I try to be understanding, because everyone is going through something hard, yet we might still have to work. Life is hard, but we don't have to add on top of their tough day. It's just something that I noticed. Plus, we got all our food and nothing was missing. We were taken cared of. It was just not bubbly or super delirious smiles. That's all. Had a lovely brunch at Roaster's with two friends, and can't decide whether I liked the food or the service better! Our server had a great sense of humor; made great suggestions when we asked for them, and kept us happily caffeinated throughout. The place was crowded, but we didn't feel rushed in the slightest. I had one of the bowls -- sunnyside up eggs over greens and brussels sprouts. Couldn't have been fresher or more delicious. My only reason for rating it 4 rather than 5 stars is I've only been there once and had one dish; I am sure after I return I will have a 5th start to pop in. Our waitress was a little impersonal and a little confused (kept giving us food from another table), but it all worked out ok. The menu is large! I went for a the goat cheese salad, which was good. The decor first and foremost is amazing love the pothos they have all around the wall growing wild and free. The decor is very lodgey and I love that wait is that even a word but you get me right! Go see for yourself! The staff is friendly and welcoming but unless you stare right at them don't expect to get the check right away. It's kid and family friendly although I didn't notice high chairs. They have outdoor seating one particular chair caught my eye because it gives a throne kind of vibe so if you're In the mood to drink coffee like a king or queen sit on that chair. The food was not only beautifully presented but it was fresh and delicious. Large portions so come with an appetite. Their sweets are pretty good also. The young lady that took my order wasn't warm but it's solely my perception. I was able to build my omelette: spinach, onions, cheddar, fried turkey. I also ordered a egg and cheese sandwich on a croissant. FYI- no bacon at this establishment. The coffee was pretty good-caramel macchiato with oat milk. While I was waiting for my food I saw pancakes come out and they looked light and fluffy and yummy. I would recommend a visit to this spot. You can sit inside and outside. Update: I returned and ordered a Caesar salad it was delicious and filling. We ordered the buttermilk pancakes and they were fluffy and tasty. The French toast was also a hit. What a treat! Imagine an egg stew-- that's the consistency. Being served in a shallow metal "bowl" lends itself to the stew persona. The spicing is to die for--yum! A warm and earthy full-bodied mix with notes of paprika, cumin and cinnamon, plus many more complex flavors. Daughters got typical American dishes (Blueberry pancakes and salads) and they were much better than average maybe B+. Sadly, the service was absolutely terrible. So bad, that i went to the counter and asked if i should order food and bring it to the table. The cockamamie waitress that soon scampered over... took a drink order (Diet Coke) and slammed my can on the table, with a warm glass sans ice. She belly-laughed all over me--oblivious that her conduct and behavior was not just discourteous, but dangerous. Wait staff plopped our food on table and never heard or seen from again until *we* asked for our check. We asked for desserts and--given the poor service-- we took it to go. The blondie-brownie was very dense and a bit greasy, and was adequate in taste, albeit barely. The crumb cake was delicious, moist, with a nice crumble top. Red velvet cake was good but a little stingy with frosting. 4-5 stars for the food, 1-2 stars off for deficient service that might be branded something far less kind. read more

I've been a patron of this place since they opened and have been in love since. They have great breakfast options and I find it difficult to go a week without dropping by for a drink. Tons of healthy options and a wide variety of pastries that are made locally. The people that work here are amazing and the service is always on point(thank you Alexis!). I typically try to help small businesses but things weren't that great with the roaster cafe . We came in to get a coffee and some desserts , and the staff tried to accommodate us (we were a party of 8 ) as much as they could, which I really appreciate . We were hoping to find some Turkish original dishes which we love (rice puddings, sutlac etc) ) but the menu had none of them unfortunately . We ordered 3 Turkish coffees - which came in pretty cold and we had to return them . The new (hot) version was not bad but not great . We also got the ricotta - pistachio cake that was pretty good and the sweet crepe which our daughter really liked . We then ordered a red-velvet muffin which was so-so. I ordered the banana pudding which seem to have been forgotten - after waiting for it for a while , I asked the waitress , who ran back and fetched it . It was just ok( and a little salty) Service was very slow (and a bit hectic as you can understand from the description above ) I have to say their menu looks promising for lunch or dinner , so we might give it a try in the future . read more
