I came here with a friend for a late lunch on a Saturday and the place was pretty empty but the food looked amazing. I love lamb so I got the lamb shish plate with bulgar wheat with tomato paste; it also came with salad and yogurt for $30 post tax. My friend got a chicken kebab sandwich which came with fries and was more reasonably $20. However the quality was top, all the ingredients were fresh and healthy. We were both super impressed given that SOMA doesn't have a lot of food options, and I had picked this based on the map location between the two of us. Around 5pm families started pouring in for the dinner rush and it was clear that we came in between rushes. The cafe is very clean, nicely decorated, and spacious. There was a little sign saying thank you in Turkish at the counter. They have a bunch of sweet treats that I did not try but I will have to come back for some Turkish delights. read more

On Monday, we stopped here for breakfast before heading to the Asian Art Museum. We started by ordering the Mediterranean Breakfast for 2 and two Turkish coffees. The breakfast was delish it came with a spongeee egg omelette with cheese inside and a side green salad, three types of bread. One looked like a bagel with sesames seeds however it was a fluffy bread one you bit into it. The second one was like a pretzel tasting. The third one was my favorite more like a cheese quiche. It also came with a platter with several bowls. The honey with cheese was great with the pretzel Tasting bread. There was one like a tomatoe paste with herbs very flavorful not spicy went well with everything. The brown olives were my favorite. It felt very fresh to eat. We also had Turkish coffee. This is why I gave it a four. It was okay, I love coffee and had it better before. It didn't hit as much coffee bean flavor, strong but not full bodied. I ordered their rice pudding like to eat here. They also had a milk one I was curious about. I liked it. It reminded me of a Mexican rice pudding without the cinnamon and less sweet. Next time will try the milk one. We took a few cookies to go those were sold by the pound/weighted. My son preferred the triangle one he doesn't like coconut I ended up eating it. I thought it was good similar to baklava but instead of flaky pastry it was coconut and sesame. The chocolate round cookie was delish a butter cookie with milk chocolate. The rectangle chocolate pastry was a bit too Rick for me. Super sweet. Our ultimate favorites to go were the 5 pc Turkish delights. All tasted so good. It reminded me of my layovers at the Turkey airport. There's plenty of indoor seating. Table/chair seating is medi style white and blue color very Paris refreshing ambiance. Turquaz is a dessert lovers haven. With selections for every palette and a rotating menu, how can you only leave with one? The answer, you can't! Whenever I stop in, I always end up leaving with at least 3-4 selections to share with friends. On rare occasions, I am very decisive and enjoy a selection of amazingness alone - all to myself. Friends who are not big sweet eaters or who do not greatly indulge in a certain type of dessert find themselves doing just that...enjoying and indulging. Turquaz makes you reconsider your preconceived notions of what a dessert is or can be. It could simply be Turquaz and its ingenious artisans create masterpieces for the palette successfully. A friend and I made our way here, for me, to choose a chocolate treat to satisfy my day long craving. When we arrived, I just stared. There were selections I had partook of previously (and of course enjoyed) while there were other selections new to me and some I saw previously and had not tried. Thankfully, my friend decided on behalf of me - selecting all the items we had pointed out or inquired about. To be honest, not all, I told her to stop when she reached four selections. Two others joined in to share our (ie my friend's) selections - one, not a sweet eating person and the other, a I don't know kind of person. When each of them took their first bites of whichever they selected, there was no derailing their rounds between the four selections. At the end, we each took a box home of the remaining dessert inside. There were leftovers because it was so decadent and we had overly indulged. Would I, we, return? Uh yeah! We already have - I already have - so many times before and will continue to do so. Turquaz also serves food items, coffee selections (which I enjoyed) and beverages, artisan breads, and smaller boxed goodies like chocolate covered espresso beans. The smaller boxed items are perfect for gift giving - I have personally done so. One day I will order in and enjoy a meal there, until then my desserts travel with me and into my tummy! It is easy to miss. You can get off at Civic Center Bart, take the 7 or any other bus goes by. Those two let you out on Market across from the old Whole Foods. Walk to the end of the Whole Foods block and look to your left at the last building of the block - Turquaz - it reads on the window. Follow it around to the second set of doors and enjoy! Turquaz in SoMa is such a neighborhood gem with super warm and friendly staff! This Turkish bakery and café serves up some seriously good food. The plates and wraps are packed with flavor, and the Adana is so good as it is seasoned and cooked to perfection and served with what I think is their version of a tzatziki that is so addicting. The lamb shank was another highlight, likewise seasoned beautifully, super tender and just falling off the bone. Definitely start with one of their meze platters. Every dip I've tried has been delicious, but the smoky and creamy eggplant yogurt and the acili ezme were the standouts for me. That acili ezme has the perfect mix of savory, a little spicy, and a touch of sweetness from the peppers. I spied several tables with what looked like Turkish flatbreads and all looked incredible so definitely something to look forward to on a return visit. The bakery section, though, is the real showstopper here. The display is gorgeous, with all kinds of Turkish delights, Dubai-style chocolates, and so many varieties of baklava. I went for the Layers of Taste sampler, which lets you try several different kinds of baklava, and they were all amazing. Sweet but not too sweet, super crispy phyllo, and rich, nutty fillings. My family and I really liked this restaurant. When we arrived around 6pm it was completely full, but because we reserved a table by phone, they got us a table immediately. There are a lot of choices but we ended up with the chicken kebab plate, the adana plate and the falafel. Everything was really good and the portions were big too. We weren't able to try any dessert, but will do the next time. The order system is also pretty fast and easy, you order and pay immediately through the Qrcode on the table and then they serve you. Wow, this spot was such a great place to visit...the food, ambiance, and experience were all very good! The is a good-sized space and, upon entry, you realize the amount of baked goods available to you since it's nicely displayed. They have an extensive menu, with many of the items viewable, making the ordering process easier. We ordered a few baked items along with some egg/meat dishes, all of which were good - everything tasted great and was good quality. There are options to get breakfast/brunch shareable multi-dish items and this is a great way to try several dishes with others. I actually did manage to eat some actual food, and I loved the eggplant yogurt- a creamier and less smoky and acidic version of baba ghanouj. I tried out Turquaz recently for the first dinner-with-the-girls of the year. I had work earlier that day, but basically everyone else took the day off, so I ended up wandering over to Turquaz a little earlier so that I could relax in a place that wasn't an empty office. The interior of Turquaz is surprisingly giant and a very pretty shade of blue. There were some holiday-ish decorations still up. I took a cushiony table in a corner, let my friends know that the place was "immensely vibey", and crocheted while I waited for them to arrive. The table next to me was also clearly having their first dinner-with-the-girls of the year, and I spent a while eavesdropping on them. Turquaz seems like a good place for long catch ups. There's tea to sip and tea to spill. For dinner, we shared some apps and had some mains. I was a big fan of the Ali Nazik, the Sigara Boregi, and the falafel. I would maybe skip or get less of the mezes, which were good but didn't come with much bread to eat with. We were mostly too full and too new-years-resolution-aspirational ("no sugar!" insisted my friend) for a bigger dessert, but got a piece of baklava, the "bomb" thing, and a savory sesame ish cookie to try and save for later. The sweet stuff was predictably good, but I think I'd most return for the cookies, which are sold for a good price by the pound and would go really well with a cup of tea or coffee. read more

So at the day I came in today, the app wasn't working very well and I identified what I was ordering to the place staff, and they cannot understand that what was not offer on the app was what I was thinking. Because of the simple definition of the item. I was just sticking a falafel plate in the app. It shows a nice layout with some extra sauce. My friend and I came to check out Turquaz and share a dessert after visiting the nearby Asian Art museum. We were impressed by how spacious the café is upon entering and veered to the right to check out the extensive pastries and dessert display. We took our time ordering and received a number to receive our items. We took a seat at the cute bench, and our order arrived promptly. The pistachio latte was mostly latte with very little pistachio flavour that was stuck at the bottom of the cup and very difficult to stir and mix into the drink with the flimsy paper straw. I had to use two straws to get through the drink. The Dubai chocolate dessert cup had a pudding consistency and came with strawberries in it. It was alright, but it would've been better with some crunchy toppings. While at the café, we kept noticing a strong sewer smell that would waft in. We had tickets at the Bill Graham Civic Center. I was looking for a spot to go before the concert that was accessible from BART Civic station. Turquaz was only a 4 minute walk from BART and maybe 6 min walk to the concert. Beautiful inside with a busy diner vibe. Order at the counter, we got Turkish coffee because I'm in my 40's and if I'm staying up late for a concert I need a boost! After visiting this place twice, I wanted to share my honest thoughts. First of all, the ambiance is wonderful. The décor is beautiful, the space gets plenty of natural light, and the touches of blue and turquoise are used perfectly. The venue works both as a restaurant where you can enjoy delicious Turkish dishes and as a café where you can simply stop by for dessert and coffee. The dessert selection is impressive, and the presentations are excellent. As for the flavors: the lahmacun was very well executed, and the ayran was the star on both of my visits, perfectly tangy and rich, just like a classic Turkish ayran. However, I can't say the same for the cheese pide; it tasted a bit bland to me, and the dough didn't resemble traditional pide dough. The profiterole was great, with a generous portion. The baklava was a bit disappointing, the carrot slice was slightly dry, although the mussel style one was much better and richer in flavor. On my second visit, I tried the "supangle," which is similar to profiterole in style, but this week the cream wasn't at its best. All in all, it's a solid place, and I hope to give them a full five stars on my third visit. This place is a gem and what a wonderful lunch I had today! Beside the food is so good, also the place is cozy, comfortable, laid back and very welcoming as well. It's an order at the counter and they bring your food to your table kind of eatery. However, it is not fast food restaurant. Far from it. Amazing Turkish flatbread with soft texture, a bit sweet and fun to wrapped all the ingredients together with. This was the best thing I ate this year so far. This is a must order and I highly recommend. I work as a concierge at one of the premier luxury hotel in San Francisco, recently we've had few new Turkish staff and a Turkish manager coming in from Istanbul and working with us and I can't wait to share this place with them. We stopped here before a show and I'm so glad we stopped by. Let's get into it... Ambiance - The inside was beautiful and very spacious! It was shockingly large for a SF dining spot that isn't some huge chain. It's really ornate and pretty inside. They can accommodate large and small groups with ease. Service - The service was great. The staff were friendly and service was quick. You order at the counter or via the QR code at the table and then they bring your food out to you. They have complimentary water as well. Food - The food is great! I had the kofte rice bowl and it was fabulous. The meat was so good and the rice and veggies were scrumptious. The presentation was very colorful with all the ingredients. Gee, is western SoMa going through a resurgence of culturally diverse commercial businesses? This is the third newish western SoMa business I've been to in the past couple of weeks, and it excites me to see all three attracting steady business. Open 8AM-10PM every day, this counter-order cafe, in particular, is drawing customers throughout the day since the extensive menu lists quite a few options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's fortunate that the homestyle Turkish dishes are tasty enough to earn their current success. On my first visit, I was in the mood for a light lunch and ordered the $14 Beet and Goat Cheese Salad, a refreshing mix of arugula, roasted beets, orange slices, red onion, walnuts, and slices of goat cheese drizzled with olive oil and lemon (Photo 10). While they offered protein add-ons like doner chicken and grilled salmon, I was pretty satisfied with the pure veggie version. When I was feeling more peckish, I ordered the $15 Chicken Shish Wrap which I found pleasantly right-sized for my limited appetite. Surprisingly tender chunks of grilled chicken breast were wrapped in a thin pita. It was stuffed with chopped tomato, red onion, and lettuce, and slathered with cacik (Turkish tzatziki). Fries and a side of hummus completed the plate (Photo 9). I then perused the gorgeous dessert and phyllo-filled pastry counter. Alas, someday... What a surprising hidden gem! As someone who works in San Francisco, I have seen a lot of lunch options come and go since the pandemic, so I'm always excited when a new restaurant opens up. Turquaz has been open for a bit, but I only got around to trying it recently, and I can't wait to go back. As others have said, the decor is so cute. Definitely like a European pastry shop out of a storybook. And the staff was incredibly kind and helpful. But it's the food that sealed the deal for me. I have had Turkish food maybe a handful of times total, so I'm not well-versed in the cuisine by any means, but I really enjoyed what I had. For lunch, I ordered the Menemen, which is actually more of a breakfast dish (I was eating an early lunch around 11). The dish is described on DoorDash (I ordered for pickup) as "Freshly sautéed tomatoes, green peppers, and onions simmered with eggs for a rich and hearty Turkish breakfast." It also comes with bread, but I ordered a side of rice as well. The dish was flavorful and comforting, and hit the spot. Almost like a shakshuka but with scrambled eggs. I would gladly order it again. The bread was really good, too, so I would probably skip the rice (which was a little undercooked for my liking anyway) next time. They also threw in some tasty hot sauce, which went really well with the dish. Based on my first order alone, I'm sold on Turquaz (again, sorry for no photos of the food. I will do better next time). My absolute happy place. How could you come in here and not be happy. It's so beautiful and it feels like you can transport it to somewhere in Turkey. You will not be disappointed. The flu is so amazing. I haven't had a bad meal here yet. I love the shish kebab and the falafel is amazing. The bowls and plates are also really really good. They also have breakfast for those early rise if you'd like to check out this place early and the breakfast is pretty amazing. Portions are really good. But what really makes this place stand out is that they have an entire section of suites and delicacies... It's so much. It's a little overwhelming but also I can't resist. I come in here for a meal but always leave some type of sweet dessert. They have a chef that is so creative and makes things homemade and it is always changing in terms of the desserts that are being offered. My favorite are the tarts and of course any of the puddings and baklava. There are so many options for absolutely everyone. This place can accommodate large groups (think 15-20y, and the price point is reasonable for the amount of food that you're getting. My friend has been mentioning this spot for some time and we decided to go! It did not disappoint! The inside vibes are nice and has plenty of seating! The food was great! i got some food from the hot bar since not a lot of resturants offer the same variety. I have been to a decent amount of turkish spots and this one easily easily takes the number 1 spot!! The service was phenomenal, everyone was super helpful and nice! I'll be definitely back to try more food! read more

Ambiance 5 Food 4 Service 3 . What a cute, cute restaurant. ...I love the decorations. Think Paris in the summer... with Turkish meals to sample. One half is hot foods, other side is pastries. Beautiful, beautiful pastries.... hot food... on the plain side. Food ordered lamb shank plate, lamb kabob with eggplant and lental soup, and the salmon bowl. All dishes cooked well, but lacking seasoning. Everything has salt....or salt & pepper, but needs some sauces. This leads me to say... yes, I'd order food from here, but only if can take it home and doctor it. One dish that was surprisingly tasty was the eggplant mezz...it's a strong smokey flavor. I loved it. I Allah ordered the 5 mezz.... they are sample size.... think a small side for condiments. That's a little odd.. for the price. Hummus, cucumber yogurt, pink beets, eggplant, roasted tomatoe & garlic....I enjoyed all except the tomato dish. Then they're is the Service...humm... close to not existence. Could be me, but I really don't like ordering dinner like it's a cafeteria.. paying top dollar... then the only Service is stopping the food off. Plenty of staff standing around...pleasant environment... but no service. That is a miss. I'm giving them a 4, because it's a pretty place. (The others in my group all thought 3).... they just need to elevate the sauces. I would probably only do a pastry & coffee in the shop, future visit. read more

This was the best chicken kebab plate. The place is an oasis. Its so pretty inside. Comfortable table seating. Qr code on the table. My faux faux was changing tables but used a different table"s QR code. The QR code tells them where to bring your food. Duh. Iit was easily corrected. Go up to cashier and tell them. Eventually I got my food. Eating mates liked going up to the cashier to order. The chicken pieces were plentiful and tender, super tender. It came with a big plate, salad, marinated salad, a condiment size of baba gnanoush Homemade type of thin cracker/bread. I chose bulgur instead of rice. Wonderful. I live right by this restaurant and can't believe I waited this long to try it! Turquaz is in Soma, which isn't the nicest part of town, but the restaurant itself is nice and inviting once you get inside. The staff were also friendly & helpful in making food decisions. I ordered the chicken kebab plate and also tried some of the doner wrap. Both were freshly made and full of amazing flavors, I especially liked the wrap. There are so many choices of pastries, and I ended up trying the sutlac rice pudding and the malaga. I thought both were good, but not particularly my taste. I definitely want to try more of the options next time I stop by. Will definitely be back! read more

This is a new restaurant that recently opened --our first time trying it. We had a variety of items such as the pistachio latte. However, the baklava latte would've been better, but they did not have it. We also tried the Turkish coffee, which was fantastic-- for the main dish we got salmon bowl and kebab plate. The chicken was cooked perfection and seasoned so well we also really loved the variety of dessert such as the baklava sampler-- definitely coming back! read more

Turquaz SF is a relatively new addition to the SoMa food scene. It's biggest draw is that the space is vast and beautiful. It operates as both a dining establishment and cafe, with savory offerings alongside desserts and caffeinated beverages. I found the food to be satisfactory, but not exceptional. I think the space has enough appeal on its own to warrant a visit, but be prepared to pay steep prices for the food. A plate, coffee, and baklava ran me $40 after tip! Adana Plate: The adana kebab was much fattier of a cut than I'm used to. However, thats not a bad thing. The kebab was succulent and juicy. Although, I found the spices lacking. I also found the accompaniments disappointing. The pita was thin and plain, the grilled tomatoe and pepper were good, but far too little, and the salad was far too sharp. Baklava: Incredibly dry. A slog to eat. I wouldn't have been able to finish it without the cappuccino (which was just decent). read more
