Meze Trio - Eggplant Yogurt, Hummus, Acili Ezme (Spicy mashed potatoes * pepper salad)
    Aaron K.

Turquaz in SoMa is such a neighborhood gem with super warm and friendly staff! This Turkish bakery and café serves up some seriously good food. The plates and wraps are packed with flavor, and the Adana is so good as it is seasoned and cooked to perfection and served with what I think is their version of a tzatziki that is so addicting. The lamb shank was another highlight, likewise seasoned beautifully, super tender and just falling off the bone. Definitely start with one of their meze platters. Every dip I've tried has been delicious, but the smoky and creamy eggplant yogurt and the acili ezme were the standouts for me. That acili ezme has the perfect mix of savory, a little spicy, and a touch of sweetness from the peppers. I spied several tables with what looked like Turkish flatbreads and all looked incredible so definitely something to look forward to on a return visit. The bakery section, though, is the real showstopper here. The display is gorgeous, with all kinds of Turkish delights, Dubai-style chocolates, and so many varieties of baklava. I went for the Layers of Taste sampler, which lets you try several different kinds of baklava, and they were all amazing. Sweet but not too sweet, super crispy phyllo, and rich, nutty fillings. The pistachio versions are my favorite and they really nailed all of the variations I've tried.

My family and I really liked this restaurant. When we arrived around 6pm it was completely full, but because we reserved a table by phone, they got us a table immediately. There are a lot of choices but we ended up with the chicken kebab plate, the adana plate and the falafel. Everything was really good and the portions were big too. We weren't able to try any dessert, but will do the next time. The order system is also pretty fast and easy, you order and pay immediately through the Qrcode on the table and then they serve you. The restaurant is not in a nice location but at least the inside decorations and the food are worthy.

This is a proper Turkish "food hub" with a restaurant+bakery+ coffee shop+ living room by the fireplace vibe. Think bistro wicker café chairs, chandeliers (!) Highlights: 1. Sit-down meals (including of course Döner kebab) 2. Turkish coffee + tea 3. Turkish delight (amazing selection for everyone's taste), variety of cakes, lokum, Syrup-soaked pastries, pistachio-heavy desserts, and milk-based sweets 4. Light abundant space perfect for lunch with friends, solo book reading with coffee/ tea and cake. I've become a regular.

Wow, this spot was such a great place to visit...the food, ambiance, and experience were all very good! The is a good-sized space and, upon entry, you realize the amount of baked goods available to you since it's nicely displayed. They have an extensive menu, with many of the items viewable, making the ordering process easier. We ordered a few baked items along with some egg/meat dishes, all of which were good - everything tasted great and was good quality. There are options to get breakfast/brunch shareable multi-dish items and this is a great way to try several dishes with others. The ambiance is great - tiles and colors reflecting Turkish art and culture are all around...it makes for a nice escape from the chaos outside. Also, the customer service was warm and friendly.

I really enjoy this spot -- it has great curb appeal, a warm ambiance, and consistently friendly service. The space is clean and inviting, and the free 90‑minute internet is a nice bonus if you want to relax or get a little work done. The bathroom is code‑protected, which keeps it tidy and well‑maintained. The iced mint lemonade is incredibly refreshing, and the tea and coffee taste authentic and thoughtfully prepared. Their pastries, cakes, and desserts are diverse, handmade, and delicious, with some unique touches like exotic Dubai chocolate. They also offer several breakfast options with eggs, all tasty and satisfying. Yummy yum yum.

This is definitely one of the best Turkish spots in the area! It's a unique, big space that serves as both a restaurant and bakery! While they have classic favorites like lahmacun and Turkish delight, the menu goes way beyond that like the salmon plate, for instance, looked great and very healthy. I highly recommend trying a 'cay' (Turkish tea) with one of their many bakery treats. Plus, the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. A must-visit for anyone looking for authentic food and a great atmosphere!

Turkish delight-ful indeed!!!! It's worth a visit just to gawk at the bakery selections. Not being a big fan of baklava, the palace pistachio baklava was fit for a queen!!! Not too sweet, with nutty and buttery texture. The pistachio chocolate cream Turkish delight was another winner. Honestly you can't go wrong at their bakery. I actually did manage to eat some actual food, and I loved the eggplant yogurt- a creamier and less smoky and acidic version of baba ghanouj. The bread that came with was perfect the next day with my morning coffee. My falafel wrap was solid, and the fries were excellent. What impressed me the most was the authenticity and variety that I've not seen at any other Mediterranean restaurant. Service was fairly quick even on a busy night. And people were still trickling in up until closing on a Wednesday night. A true find in SoMA!!

When I tell you the ambience in this place is so cute I mean it's really cute. I actually came for dinner and I didn't realize the food portions were so big. I could've shared my meal with someone else. The service is great. Youjust order and then they'll bring your food to you. There's plenty of space. Apparently, brunch is a lot better for what I'm hearing. I have not had brunch here but I plan to come back. I did not try their dessert as we were so full from dinner, so my plan is next time to try that as well. thank you for having us and I hope to return soon. 4/5 service 4/5 food 5/5 ambience and room.

I tried out Turquaz recently for the first dinner-with-the-girls of the year. I had work earlier that day, but basically everyone else took the day off, so I ended up wandering over to Turquaz a little earlier so that I could relax in a place that wasn't an empty office. The interior of Turquaz is surprisingly giant and a very pretty shade of blue. There were some holiday-ish decorations still up. I took a cushiony table in a corner, let my friends know that the place was "immensely vibey", and crocheted while I waited for them to arrive. The table next to me was also clearly having their first dinner-with-the-girls of the year, and I spent a while eavesdropping on them. Turquaz seems like a good place for long catch ups. There's tea to sip and tea to spill. For dinner, we shared some apps and had some mains. I was a big fan of the Ali Nazik, the Sigara Boregi, and the falafel. I would maybe skip or get less of the mezes, which were good but didn't come with much bread to eat with. We were mostly too full and too new-years-resolution-aspirational ("no sugar!" insisted my friend) for a bigger dessert, but got a piece of baklava, the "bomb" thing, and a savory sesame ish cookie to try and save for later. The sweet stuff was predictably good, but I think I'd most return for the cookies, which are sold for a good price by the pound and would go really well with a cup of tea or coffee.

What an amazing Turkish restaurant! Not only is it very pretty, the food is delicious! When you walk in you are immediately greeted with a giant pastry case (photos do not do it justice). All of our food (we got lunch) was delicious, and the service was wonderful. We will definitely be back(we want to try the Turkish breakfast).

What is advertised on their app but not what we delivered
    Joe R.

So at the day I came in today, the app wasn't working very well and I identified what I was ordering to the place staff, and they cannot understand that what was not offer on the app was what I was thinking. Because of the simple definition of the item. I was just sticking a falafel plate in the app. It shows a nice layout with some extra sauce. When I went and ordered it, I need to start by two times as they have charged me a bowl. I was just looking for a small size. After receiving my order, the clerk said oh that's an old item on the app so buyer beware let's represent the may not be accurate when you sit down so I would say order upfront and be clear with staff what you're getting for your money.

When you step into Turquaz you are transported to a modern Turkish restaurant. The interior is shades of blue and whites very crisp and Mediterranean feel. There are display cases of pastries, baklava, cakes, chocolates and tea cookies and many desserts that you can only dream of!! We ordered the chicken kebab plate and the chicken wrap. Not only is the food delicious, flavorful, and nutritious. The portions are plentiful for 2 meals. Ordered baklava and the Dubai chocolate cup to go. Whether you are looking for fresh Mediterranean food or desserts, Turquaz delivers with style and flavor!

Ambiance is very cozy. Great selection of Turkish coffee and pastries: - 5/5: The Turkish coffee is fantastic, and it comes out quickly. - 4.9: Olive acma bun: Perfectly fluffy and buttery. They heat it up a little, but it would be better heated up more. - 4.6: Izmir bomb: It's a filled small crepe/cookie with a lot of very tasty house made chocolate/hazelnut paste. It has way too much paste; I scraped out most of it. But it's great. - 3.0: Pogaca with sausage and mozzarella. Too doughy, and doesn't have enough filling or flavor. The layers of taste platter consists of 5 baklava items: - 5.0: Mussel baklava. It has an interesting savory nut paste. - 4.8: Regular baklava. crisp and fresh. - 4.7: Roll pistachio. Intensely pustachio - 3.0: Palace pistachio. - 3.0: Milky baklava. OK, but not much value-add from the milk.

I realized I had not added seating accommodation to my reservation and tried to call, but no one answered. When we arrived, the hostess told us we would not be able to sit in any of the currently empty booths because reservations were coming in later. We were seated at a table off the dining space near the kitchen, my mom was a little too chilly and the booth didn't have enough neck support. I expressed to the host that though I was sorry I had forgotten to add accommodation, that this was just not the way to handle the problem. I was able to speak to the manager, who had been outside taking orders and was clearly working very hard that day. (Her name is quite uncommon so I'm just going to call her M, but I really appreciate your help!) She asked me what my concern was, and I told her, at which point she asked me to wait nearby while she figured out if she could rearrange some tables for us. The bartender was incredibly kind and served me while I waited, and distracted me from imminent tears by sharing intricate details about each drink he was making. I learned do they have a myriad of health oriented cocktails, with ingredients like turmeric, ginger, and aloe liqueur. The manager returned and said that she had already seated my mother in a new space and escorted me to the table, which allowed me to relax and enjoy the meal. At the beginning of the menu, they list the ingredients that are currently in season, and at the back of the menu, there is a color wheel, telling you the benefits of the colors of food. (Purple foods can assist with memory and brain function!). We ordered the asparagus, which was in season, spicy cucumber, and the Aji grill for two. The tofu that came with the grill for two was my favorite thing that we ate. I think you can judge a vegan / vegetarian restaurant by their treatment of tofu. Perfectly seasoned with a crispy outside and I would come back just for this. The cauliflower steak was also pretty tasty. The cocktails are excellent, we tried the BLACKPINK and my mother tried the espressotini and we were really happy with both. I don't know how popular their bar scene is, but I imagine it would be a nice way to meet other vegan and vegetarian folks over light bites. Our waiter Daniel made sure to give us the Mother's Day special dessert the restaurant had created, which was an avocado Grenache with fresh berries. If the experience had started with less stress, this review would be five stars, but I'm very grateful to the staff for doing what they could to correct it and ensure that we had a great Mother's Day! I would love to visit again and update my review :)

Sure, their price point was on the high side, but even a cursory review of the ingredients made me recognize the focus on quality was not a one-off. Riding the N-Judah MUNI line westward, I passed by this particular location often and stopped by for a quick lunch. I must've forgotten how big their salads were because I was overwhelmed by the size of the bowl for the $19.95 Thai Chicken Salad. It was quite a fresh and satisfying mix between the thin slices of chili-lime Mary's chicken, carrot, snow peas, cabbage, scallion, herb mix, peanuts, sesame seeds, crispy wonton strips, and house romaine, all tossed with peanut-sambal dressing (Photo 10). I couldn't finish it, not even close. Further illustrating my lack of common sense, I ordered the $4.25 side of French Fries which came piled in a slightly smaller bowl (Photo 9). They were tasty but a lot. I ate upstairs where I found myself in solitude. They had takeout boxes next to the utensils, so I ended up packing away most of the food in two containers. They kindly gave me a bag on the way out. Love their salads as well. $30 for a salad is a bit steep though. This is once you add protein but it's still. Portion size is quite big so there's that.
