Absolutely FABULOUS breakfast. I live in Chehalis, WA, but go to Corvallis every week. This cafe just south of Salem is well worth the drive. My Dad has eggs, ham and toast with home fried red potatoes. I had a short stack of fluffy, tender hot cakes with the Lumberman plate: the best chicken fried steak and sausage gravy I've had in a long time. Gotta bring my wife back to this place. An hour and 15 minutes waiting for two salads is excessive. After waiting for 30 minutes to place our order I asked the server if we could order. She raised her hand to me and said" you'll need to be patient, I'm the only waitress ". Mind you the dining room had 6 tables with people seated in various stages of eating. She paid extra attention locals, we are not. We had an appointment, thinking an hour should be plenty of time to get a salad, but no. We had to let the person know, we will be late, still waiting for our food. I get the staffing issues right now, I do not have a problem with that it's the rudeness. We recently visited Willamette Valley for wine tasting. We were hungry, so we ventured into Turner, Oregon and stopped at the Turnaround Cafe. There was a slight wait as apparently this place is popular --- but the wait was well worth it. Service by Devynn was fantastic, and our brunch was quite good. Stood in the entrance area of the half empty restaurant for 10 mins (2 waitresses) and they kept looking at us (there is a wait to be seated sign) but made no effort to seat us. Disappointing. The menu says "Coke products"... but they serve Pepsi instead (no biggie to us, but interesting nonetheless). The syrup tasted like corn syrup, with almost no maple flavor (I am from New England.... And consider myself a pretty good judge of maple syrup)! The well done bacon tasted of dirty cooking oil. The toast was only lightly buttered in the center of the bread. The country potatoes were dry/cool. It was not a real omelette.... It was like a thin folded scrambled egg with the fixings wrapped inside. We think this was one to miss. read more

We stopped in for breakfast and I enjoyed the turnaround meal which was simple and delicious. My girlfriend on the other hand ordered a cinnamon roll which was to die for but her potatoes she ordered had bacon in them. She's vegetarian and was truly disappointed to find out after she had taken a bite. I'm not sure if this is standard but it should be noted on the menu if it is.. Overall a 3 after you balance out both our scores. We'll certainly try again and make sure to mention the veggie needs next time. read more

Sadly, not the experience we were hoping for, as we had a two families (party of four and 5) with a total of 9 people. We were advised there was an hour wait, although were okay with having separate seating. Then shortly after we're told it would be two hours , after asking if we can have two separate tables outside. I understand the social distance for both employees and customer, but help me understand what the difference would be if you serviced two separate families vs. two separate customers. Clearly felt unwelcome and a bit harsh that we felt turned away from a local restaurant we had found based on the reviews on yelp. Very disappointed. read more

Menu is limited but covers many traditional items. Substitutions were made without issue. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Only issue I had was we were seated in the path to the kitchen/dish washing area so there was no excuse for empty plates to sit in front of those who were finished eating i.e. the childten. I had a chicken sandwich, tasty, but wish the chicken had been flattened a bit to fit the sandwich, it was a large piece that was good, just needed to be cut or smashed down, was like a baseball on a bun. We have been here several times and the food and service has been good. Went a couple weekends ago and both the food and service were totally unexplainable. We waited 15 minutes after being seated outside and no one even came to give us water or offer coffee. Should have left then, but like usual they were busy so we stuck it out. Went to the front and asked to get coffee and the staff was a bit snippy. Overall it took way too long to get food (we were there for over an hour and a half) the food was not up to par and the staff was very unprofessional the entire time. The waitresses have always been very helpful, and when they are busy, i understand and give them more time to do their jobs, and they always have a smile when they come to the tables. When we were on our way from Dallas Oregon to central Oregon. We searched out this restaurant due to ratings and proximity to our route. We love the fact that there was a park adjacent to the restaurant. Our kids played in the park while we had our half hour wait. Once we got in the restaurant is about 20 minutes until our order was taken and about another 20 minutes until our food are right we hit it right on the mark for the most busiest time of the day, I'm sure! Our waitress was extraordinarily friendly and the food was delicious. That is what we are looking for good food along the route. We were not any hurry, we were not looking for a quiet environment. I bet if we would have been here an hour earlier or an hour later it would have been a 5 star rating. read more

It's the talk of the town, so I had to try it. I arrived at a little after 11a on a Sunday. They were pretty full. They had some room at the breakfast bar and I graciously accepted rather than taking up a full table by myself. I figured they'd need the table eventually and they did. The actual bar seat was intimidating because I'm no small lady, but the seats were surprisingly comfortable. I ordered the Lumberjacks Breakfast: chicken fried steak, eggs scrambled, biscuit and added a side of bacon ($4 for a side of 4) and iced tea. Iced tea is fresh brewed and very good. Food is served in large portions. The staff and owners are attentive but not bothersome and everyone was VERY nice. They really know how to make you feel welcome. My food arrived and it looked great. Chicken fried steak is my absolute favorite, so I was excited to dig in. The gravy was not as thick as I'm used to, so I was a little disappointed, and there was a slight sweetness to it that I could have done without. The eggs and potatoes were very good. The steak itself was a lot of breading, but I think that's my favorite part of chicken fried steak, honestly. It had a great crunch and the taste was wonderful. The bacon was cooked perfectly and while it wasn't the thickest cut bacon, it was also very good. I'll definitely be back, there's no doubt. I saw some french toast on the menu made with their homemade challah that I'm dying to try. Ultimately it was totally worth it. read more

This was our first time driving to Turner, just to get a late breakfast at the cafe I'd read such positive reviews on Yelp, so I was dying to try it out. Right next door to the Turner Baking Co. And parking is easy. We were there on a Sunday around noonish, so a busy time and we waited about 20 minutes to get seated. I ordered the 3 Alarm Melt? I may have gotten the name a little wrong, but it was eggs, cheese, potatoes, a few veggies, and best of all, covered in country gravy! YUMMY! I'm a 250lb guy who can normally eat a lot, but I couldn't finish much more than half of this monster! My sweetheart had a Veggie Omelette with pesto sauce on top and pancakes on the side. It was the best tasting omelette I may have ever had. The pesto really sold it. I normally love all of the meats in my omelette, but this was great!t The atmosphere was homey and the staff very friendly. All of the great food and coffee and lots of leftovers to boot for a lot less money than I thought I would be paying. Two thumbs up for this place. We'll be back soon. read more

Stopped by for lunch with my Mom after driving back this place twice a day for 5 years. The people were very friendly and did their best to seat us quickly during what appeared to be a Friday lunch rush. The food was ok, not great, but fresh. I ordered a cheeseburger (really over cooked) and Mom had a chicken club. If we go back I think I'll try the breakfast, hoping it's better. It gets two stars because the food was really good. The service on the other hand, was terrible. Our waitress was friendly when she took our order, our food came, then we never saw her again. My coffee was never refilled and was served in a tea cup. $2 bucks for 4 ounces of coffee? My wife asked for hot sauce and ketchup that was never brought. She eventually got a waitress from another table get it for her. Our waitress never even came back to give us the bill, another waitress did. And it's not like she went on break, she was waiting on other tables close by. I may try this place again because like I said the food was good. But I would want a different waitress. read more

Ham and cheese omelette is supposed to have chunks of hame not tiny slivers that are dried out or burnt because they were cut so small and the potato/hash browns or whatever they were, were so burnt. It's amazing these days that places don't care. When I was a server years ago we took pride in our food being served and making sure it was good. Came in to get tickets for the taco tour on Aug 6, 2022. Cute place, needed to eat, so my husband and I ordered a blue cheese burger. It was burnt all the way through, dry, fries were "ok". HB had no blue cheese taste at all. Husband was very disappointed. I just ate the fries. No fill up of water when empty. Slow service. For the price, no chef should serve a burnt burger. Absolutely delicious food and great service! We were renting a nearby place whilst interviewing for a job. We showed up on a Monday morning but they were closed. Had we read the hours we would have known that. The owner happened to be in the parking lot when we showed up and let us know they were closed and talked to us a bit. He sure didn't have to take his time! He gave us a recommendation and told us to come back the next day which we did. We were not disappointed! Seems they were short handed but the gals working didn't miss a beat! The food was delicious, fresh and hot!
