Just an update to confirm my continued reviews: Josey's is still top notch breakfast food for the area. The prices have stayed somewhat steady since 23 and the quality remains high. Staff are friendly and responsive and are very helpful with requests or questions. I ate here when single, when dating, I brought my kids here when they were babies, and I take them at 12 year olds now. Really glad to have a constant like Josey's that I can always rely on. read more

This is our favorite hole in the wall for breakfast. A small little diner with nothing but great food and friendly service. Every time I come I usually get the BLT. They stack it pretty well and the toast never cuts up the roof of the mouth. My husband enjoys their French toast or the light breakfast. Great sized portions for the price. We will always stop in here when in town. read more

A good little hole in the wall find. Not a huge dining area. The food is classic yummy American comfort. I was there for breakfast. The server was friendly and attentive but not hovering. She kept the coffee filled, took the order, delivered it. She checked back to make sure all was good, refilled coffee and came back again to remove plates and asked if there was anything else, how was it etc. The interaction with her felt natural and unforced. It is very hard to find service like this. The food was well prepared just as expected and the portions were ample. Just note parking and tables are limited. read more

I was really hungry for pancakes and stopped by this morning. The service was just average. I said at the counter I was expecting more maybe blueberries to go with my pancakes but no, I decided to order for pancakes without even looking at the menu, then was disappointed to see that it was $18.60 for four pancakes wow what a world we're living in nice servers and a dine feel to the place not sure if I'll go back but now that I've looked at the prices and actually opened up the menu online. It took the waitress at least 20 to take our order. I asked for tomato juice (which is on their menu) they didn't have. we ordered their corn beef and hash, and the jr and sr breakfast to eat in the restaurant, and some chicken strips to go. The corn beef and hash order was fine, my breakfast I ordered scrambled eggs, I got over easy. We were never asked if we wanted ketchup or hot sauce, we had go get the jelly from the waitress , who was chatting with the people in back. She took our debit card and It took her forever to bring back, our copy to sign. I looked back and again she was chatting with the people in back. We finally got our copy. We left her no tip! Don't let the humble building deceive you. The breakfast I ate here was so freaking delicious. I asked for over medium eggs. What I got were actual over medium eggs - not too runny and not to rubbery. The hash browns were hot , crispy, and perfectly seasoned. My waitperson was very attentive without being cloying. We decided to try this place out based on reviews, and it was close by. The menu prices were a tad higher than the current pictures. They were really busy when we showed at 11am on a Wednesday. The staff seem to have a great team approach. It was nice to see, although maybe a bit understaffed. All were really nice. We ordered a Manhattan burger with onion rings, and the Chicken Fried Steak meal. The burger was good, basic, and the onion rings were amazing. The cook did mess up two parts of that order though. The CFS was large, but thin, and crispy. It tasted good, but I was shocked at how thin it was. The eggs were a perfect over medium. For covid they are social distancing, requiring masks, wearing masks, limiting how many are in the store and how many are seated, and controlling the flow of traffic. Good solid breakfast at a reasonable price. It's the classic diner experience. We have never been disappointed.

This location is convenient and the service is decent, other than that, it just ok. The prices are way too high for the quality and portions of food you receive. I mean, way too high. You can get a better deal for a grand slam at Denny's for 1/2 the price and the decor will be a lot more updated. Paying $4.40 for a side of onion rings (about 6) or 2 pieces of bacon for $3.00 is just hi way robbery. The photo of the burger is attached and will speak for itself in quality and size. It had a cheap flat bun with a pre-packaged meat party and a thin small piece of bacon slid in-between. All that lack of wonderness for a whopping $13.. Not right! The French toast topping (pictured) was runny and therefor made the bread soggy fast. Experienced cooks would know this the first week in training. This place isn't decorated in authentic 1987 decor on purpose it's just never been remodeled or updated. The menu is archaic with minimal choices. The drink choices are few and the prices are high. The seating is old and comfortable is not the word that comes to mind. The bathroom is tiny, old and not the best smelling. So, it takes a lot to get me to give you 2 stars, but the proof or evidence is to overwhelming to avoid and ignore. read more

We've been going to Josey's for years. They have the best Belgian waffles in Salem, and their biscuits and flavorful gravy are perfect. The service is amazingly fast, even when it's busy. The ambiance is similar to going back to a vintage 60s diner. The menu options and prices are epic! read more

Arrived about 8:15 on a weekday morning and it took wayyy too long to get our food. Waitress SHOULD have been up front with "we only have one cook" before we sat and committed to our order. Slowed us down on our family day trip. Customer who arrived after us (treated like a regular) was finished eating before our food arrived. No excuse or explanation for that. read more

One Extremely Rude waitress with bright colored hair was passive aggressive toward us because we walked 8 steps to the exit door out without masks on. We also walked in without masks and were almost to our seat when we were TOLD to put a mask on, even thou once sitting we would be able to remove then! I have entered numerous restaurants in town for months with NO HASSLES!! . There are MUCH better places to eat locally where servers (who are not KARENS) are not rude to valued paying customers. We have been trying to try this restaurant for over a year and we finally did this past month and it was delicious with reasonable prices. I would recommend the hamburgers for lunch and then we've tried a few breakfast there I like the side pancakes the smaller ones not the big ones. My husband and I stopped in here for one last breakfast in Oregon before heading back home to Los Angeles. We weren't disappointed. Leslie greeted us at the door and promptly brought over our drinks. The best part, she kept my coffee cup filled and a smile on my face. Great customer service. I grew up in a breakfast place very similar to this I was half expecting the food to be a little greasy but it was not at all. My eggs over-medium were cooked to perfection and I devoured it. My husband had the special Blueberry Pancakes which were plate sized. I'm assuming he liked them because when I looked over, they were gone. Josey's has earned a place as a weekly hangout. There's almost always a section of the Statesman to grab, a favorite seat open, and the waitresses acknowledge me as a regular and are on top of my needs. Exceptionally senior-friendly and welcoming to lone and handicapped diners. All diners require experimentation to find signature menu items. Steak and eggs here is a five-star dish, and the excellent cut of meat was cooked exactly as I asked. I like their Belgian waffle with berry syrup. The only place I frequent that prepares traditional hashbrowns. Bacon the best of any of my joints, eggs always skilfully cooked. When I make an unfortunate choice, it's not a bad meal, just indistinguishable from any other midvalley diner. read more

I came here for breakfast about a week ago on a Sunday morning. This place is pretty reminiscent of a classic diner from back in the days. My friend and I first arrived and was asked to sit wherever there was space available. It wasn't too busy but still quiet enough to enjoy the scenery around me. I perused through the menu but since I've been here before I wanted to get a chance to order the Sunday breakfast special which is the Prime Rib and Eggs. Our server Carol even remembered the last time I was here and recollected the fact that I wanted it last time as well but was too late because I had already made an order for the chicken fried steak which is also great! When we received our meal I was happy with the size of the prime rib which was also cooked to perfection at medium rare. I took my first bite and was amazingly surprised that it was not overtly seasoned and retained much of its natural flavor. I will admit that I scarfed down this meal and pretty much got to a point where I had to force myself to stop cause it was really too much food. I would definitely recommend this place as they have a great selection on their menu that can cater to many different tastes.
