The first clue should have been there was not steak knife to cut filet mignon, you didn't need one. This was probably the best steak I have ever had. I wish I brought a doggy bag as I had too many appetizers which were also exceptional. The wedding planner Paige was on top of everything all night. She was exceptiona. She kept things on track all night. Too bad it went by way too fast. I would highly recommended this venue.

We have traveled all over and eat out quite a bit (too often), and this place has the best staff we have had the pleasure of dining with. We were greeted by Diane, and Patti was our server. Both were attentive, friendly, and helpful. Diane, the hostess, greeted us with the biggest smile and was so welcoming. She walked us to our seats and even offered to move our table so we could have the best view. We closed the place down, and we decided last minute to get a gift card for friends we knew would love the experience. She restarted the POS system to do this for us, even though it was late, she could have asked us to come back another day. Patti was so helpful with food and drink selections. She checked on us often but was not intrusive. Even the younger staff moving tables at the end of the night smiled a lot and made conversation with us. There was an acoustic guitarist playing in the background at just the perfect volume. It enhanced the experience. Some places we've been the music has been obnoxiously loud. Clearly their focus is on top-notch service and they seem to enjoy working together. We were so impressed and look forward to going back.

Time for a story, everybody…read more I asked a smart, beautiful, funny Yelper to marry me and she said yes. It was an extremely exciting day, and laughter and tears abounded. That exciting day turned into an exciting week, full of phone calls and picture taking and ring flaunting. After that first week, though, the reality set in that we actually needed to hunker down and plan a wedding. Fairies don't magically appear and plan it for you, and there's a lot of legwork to be done to get a giant party off the ground. The initial step was finding the absolute perfect venue. Chester's at Bell Tower Square was the perfect venue. We knew immediately and cut a check on the spot, and then felt a little bad that we would miss out on the joys and heartache of traveling around New England for two months looking for the perfect venue. Isn't that what wedding planning is all about? Stressing out over where to have it and what money to put down and all that? To find the place we knew we'd be getting married in after the first weekend just shouldn't be. Yet, apparently, it was. How could we go anywhere else? With nearly 5,000 square feet of exposed brick, natural light and hardwood floors, where else could we find that would give us the hip industrial vibe we were looking for? How could we say no to the gorgeous courtyard, or the attached art gallery? I'm not sure I'd have been able to live with myself if I walked away from a venue that I could have access to for the Friday and the Saturday of my weekend weekend. After spending an hour with the event coordinator (Elizabeth), my fiance and I had no choice but to call off our search after a grand total of seven days of searching. If you are getting married and want to have it in a huge, unique, gorgeous, historic space, look at Chester's last. If not, your venue search is going to be very, very fast.

It is surprising to me to see all the positive reviews for this venue and the event coordinator…read more Perhaps we caught them on an "off" two days, but I have never witnessed the lack of professionalism we received as a wedding party-- ever, in my life. From the rehearsal dinner to the event itself, we were treated with such arrogance and hostility that I was livid by the end of the night, and it wasn't even my wedding. From the beginning the whole thing was...wrong. We were not lined up in proper order for the processional, but when we pointed it out it was ignored. We were told it would be corrected by the ceremony, but it wasn't. We went out backwards and were not matched up with our proper partners. The lights were not dimmed for the ceremony. We asked that the lights be dimmed but were told no, because the photographer needed to be able to see us (which of course is not true). They were not dimmed until during the meal, and only because another bridesmaid had to demand it. We were told we had to have the lights on all the way so that the waitstaff could get us our food-- even though it was buffet- styled. The seating was completely ignored-- guests were told to sit where ever they wanted, resulting in completely useless place cards and seating arrangements. Every time someone mentioned anything that was amiss-- from the bartender being completely rude to the timing of the ceremony, which was almost an hour off-- we were spoken down to like children. The night was saved only by the fact that we actually knew what we were doing as a wedding party, dealt with the problems ourselves and waited until the dancing started, which was when any hand the event coordinator had in organizing anything was complete. I feel badly, because my friend was completely stressed during one of the happiest events of her life. I would never book an event with Elizabeth or at Chester's Bell Tower. Of course every ceremony has its flaws, but when no one seems to care, or worse-- can not admit they're wrong and try to fix what isn't working-- it is time to re-evaluate your career choices.

Attending as a guest to a wedding, I cannot speak to the cost of the venue or dealing with venue staff. There were outside vendors, so I am not aware of who was affiliated with the venue versus the bar, food service, DJ, etc. Every one was polite and accommodating otherwise. Being a beautiful rustic barn, it was a great wedding. My wife and I had a grand time here. The only downside is the lack of parking. There were outside accomodations with Best Western of Danvers for transport to the venue, which worked out well. It is a factor to consider. The house on the property was delightful as well, a Victorian home with a water fountain and finely manicured landscape around the home. The bridal party, to my knowledge, prepared for the wedding here.

There are several rooms in the mansion for great photo ops. The photographers loved the spaces. Ceremony space on the grass was gorgeous. The Misselwood-supplied Day-of Coordinator (Tara) was awesome. She made sure everyone knew where to be and that all the vendors had a point person for the day. The reception tent was perfect for our group of 125. It was a nice fall day so we were able to be out on the patio for cocktails. Just spectacular.

My kids LOVE the ping pong table and the food. We have sampled the lemonade (with orange blossom water!), the falafel plate, the Croque l'autumne, ham & brie and many of their sweets. It's all been delightful. I dream of the crunchy little falafel with warm, soft pita fairly regularly. The croque is gooey with cheese and sweet squash. Housemade nougat is a delicious treat. We stopped into Uncommon Feasts for lunch and found parking on a side street. Walking into the building, one must navigate down a few hallways until you pass a working prep kitchen into an open seating area. There are quite a few long tables, couches, shelves with fresh jams and other kitchen goods, and a ping pong table. The menu was written on a sheet of construction paper reflecting changing, daily specials. One orders at a window peering into the kitchen with staff hard at work preparing meals and supporting an impressive catering operation. Fresh coffee and tea were available as was an inviting dessert charcuterie of truffles, figs, and other sweets. We enjoyed our brunch - especially the salmon, cream cheese, and arugula on a One Mighty Mill Bagel and less for the tortilla plate (fried egg, kale, squash, red onion on a tortilla). The weekend brunch menu had a nice mix of vegetarian and non-veg options and we look forward to returning for dinner. Staff was very friendly and hospitable. There is no table service at lunch (unclear if this is the case at dinner). Uncommon Feasts is a nice spot to grab coffee, read a design magazine in a cool, industrial space, and show off Lynn's uncommon spaces to visiting friends.
