The membership offered is a great way to donate and support this institution. 3. Not a bad seat in the house - EXCEPT some of the balcony seats, but only because of leg space. 4. I was at the special Hocus Pocus showing with live commentary Sunday evening. Which was amazing! But I have to mention that we paid the extra $200 each for me and my mom to do the VIP MEET & GREET with the actors and the way it was handled was extremely poor. (This is not on the actors at all, they were delightful and perfect) The Cabot staff member that was directing the line of people (which wasn't horribly long may I add) was extremely rude and short with us. Basically telling us to keep it short, do not talk to them, they are tired and want to go home, keep your phones away, if you don't the pic you get is what you get. $200 is a lot of money. And I felt like I couldn't even say hello to them. It was a little disheartening because we paid for a meet and GREET. And we were basically told not to greet them. On top of that we only got a digital copy of the photo.... So if we wanted to get it printed we would have to pay for that ourselves. ‍ That being said, I grew up in Beverly and the Cabot, I will continue going to shows, but I probably wouldn't get VIP again if this is how it's going to be handled. read more

Great room. Great set of artists that come through the Cabot. Staff is friendly and helpful. So many great little restaurants in the area as well. Caught Bruce Campbell, Henry Rollins, and Corey Glover in the last year alone. Always hoping to return to the Cabot whenever possible. read more

i've been coming here for years every Sunday. We used to go to see the magic show. Now we go to see a lot of entertainment there we still go to the movies, but we usually go out to eat the kid tickets for some kind of event. It's not a very big place. The seats are very huge, but it is a great time. read more

I posted a review after seeing Tower of Power there a year ago saying never again, I got lured back since Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes were performing, I'm happy to say it was an entirely different experience, much more security, much better quality of security people, extra people inside the theater monitoring audience behavior and stopping bad behavior the moment it was spotted multiple times, this time is was an enjoyable visit to see the show, a vast improvement over the other time. Please as your renovations continue consider adding some extra rest rooms to the plans. Sound was great as always, went with two other people who also commented on the differences. read more

Went tonight to see Tower of Power, had someone stand up right in front of us the moment the band came on stage and never sat down blocking the view the entire night, security made one half hearted attempt to get them to sit down, then shrugged snd went back by the stage, staff of Cabot totally indifferent, 135 dollars plus inflated ticketmaster fees for this, have been to the cabot multiple times but no more, this doesn't happen at Tupelo or Jimmy's, staff cares there read more

Been here for many shows over the years. Not a bad seat in the house. Saw The Fixx in November and they did not disappoint. Sounded just like their recorded music. Looking at the upcoming schedule and not seeing anything that catches my eye. I will keep searching though as I always seem to find a band that has been added. read more

A MUST DO! 4 & 1/2 Stars. The Cabot is a beautiful little theater that first opened in December 1920. Yup 99 years & it's still going strong. 2020 will be their 100th Anniversary. They are renovating this little gem to its former glory days with some new modern amenities. They just added comfortable new seats in the balcony section. I love old theaters - the character, the rich history & the architecture can't be beat. The Cabot Theater shows New Movies, Retro Movies & has Concerts all in the same theater. They are now bringing in some Big Name Acts here. Check out their Calendar. They've found a way to re-invent themselves. I think they could have saved a lot of old Movie Houses across the country that were demolished if they incorporated this mixed use space concept. There is street parking at the pay stations & more parking on multiple numerous intersecting side streets off of Cabot with pay stations there too. $.75 an hour & Free after 8 PM. You can go out to dinner with the money you save on just parking as opposed to seeing a concert in Boston with exorbitant parking fees. There is also an Excellent restaurant on the same side of the street just a block away called Soma. GREAT FOOD! I saw Three Dog Night here & they were Excellent. Three Dog Night had 21 Top 40 hits in the late 60s & 70s & were on Fire & on heavy rotation on all radio stations. They have the honor of being the first song that hit #1 on Casey Casem's American Top 40 broadcasted on the 4th of July 1970 & that song was Mama Told Me Not to Come. They performed some of their biggest hits including Family of Man, Black & White Never Been to Spain, Shambala, Out in the Country, Easy to Hard, One, Just an Old Fashioned Love Song, Liar, Mama Told Me Not to Come, Celebrate, Eli's Coming,. They also sang some of their hits that aren't really played anymore on the radio like Brickyard Blues, They finished with their signature song the #1 song of the entire year of 1971 Joy to the World ( Jeremiah was a Bullfrog ). What a Fun night as the audience sang along to all the hits. It used to be, you had to have Mega Bucks & be really Rich to have the Good Life, not anymore. The Game has changed. You've been Upgraded. A great small venue for music fans. I just made my second trip to The Cabot seeing Rickie Lee Jones and it is one of the most comfortable theaters I have ever seen a show. The cushioned seats are very comfortable and there is plenty of leg room to stretch out. The sound system, recently upgraded I was told, is terrific. As I write this I also understand they put in new comfy seats in the balcony. If there is one slight down note it is parking. The Cabot does not have its own parking lot since it is right there in the middle of downtown Beverly, but there are very affordable metered lots in the downtown area. We got to downtown Beverly a few hours early and had no trouble finding a spot in a lot just a block away. I paid a whole $1.00 to park for the evening. The downtown area is quaint with a decent number of places to get a pre-show bite or drink. The beach is maybe a half mile walk. I understand they show classic movies at the theater as well. I would not hesitate to take one in and make another evening in Beverly with The Cabot as the "go to" destination. I'll also definitely be checking their schedule for more upcoming music acts. read more

I hadn't been here since the 90s when I brought my son to see le grande Davide's magic show. I went recently to see the Weepies performance and I was front and center of the balcony. Great seats but clearly there is no bad seat. The theater has old world charm but needs some love. The seats are torn and the ceiling looks to be crumbling. What a nice place to see any event. They have a bar on first and second floor lobby and have made a special new seating area with high tops. Lovely theatre. I hope it continues to thrive. The house staff were uninformed regarding the seating plan. The usher sat us in seats, and 20 minutes into the opening act a security person came to remove us, accusing us of taking the wrong seats. It was extremely embarrassing. After finding our correct seats, I went down to speak to the manager. Instead they sent the house manager, who did apologize, but said the ushers were volunteers. Didn't address the fact they sent security to move us. Why didn't the usher come and explain the mistake instead of embarrassing us with security. I never got to see the manager, oh, but the house manager did offer me a free popcorn. read more

The Cabot is a nice place for entertainment . We went to see George Clinton and the P Funk and they were great, However, upon asking questions regarding the seating one of the staff people. ( ticket checker, young man long brown hair, positioned on the right as you enter the front door) was extremely rude and pretty much brushed me off. I mentioned that I saw this behavior written about some staffers on social media reviews. I then went over to the concession stand were the two young men there were more than happy to help me, apologized for the desk checker person's treatment of me and even offered me free popcorn. It's so much nicer to be kind. That young man should not be at the front check in with that kinda of presentation towards the public. read more

My wife and I saw LeAnn Rimes at the Cabot a few weeks ago and loved it. It's got a great retro vibe while offering modern amenities, like local craft beers on tap. And because they show movies, you can get popcorn and candy during live shows, too! Ticket prices were very affordable compared to a lot of locations in Boston. The staff were all very polite, even when kicking someone out of the balcony mid-show. My one complaint is that you have to have very short legs to sit in the balcony. But they're doing construction, so that problem should be solved soon! Overall, a great experience. read more

What a fabulous concert venue, that can do double duty as a movie theatre! The Cabot (aka Cabot Performing Arts Center) is a perfect size for an intimate musical evening or cinematic event, beautifully updated, but maintaining its turn-of-the-century (20th century that is) aesthetic and excellent acoustics. Don't think there's a bad seat in the house. We had come to see Gordon Lightfoot (Canadian folk singer for those not familiar with his work, though you've probably heard some of his songs; "Early Morning Rain" was made famous by Peter, Paul and Mary). Yes, he's as old as Methuselah (even older than Mick Jagger) and his voice doesn't have the depth or range it used to, but he can still charm and entertain. Good show. :) The Cabot is in the center of a vibrant arts district in Beverly, MA. Lots of little shops and various dining options all along the street. The Cabot has had a varied history. It started out as a popular theatre for vaudeville shows and silent films in 1920. In 1960 it was bought by theatre company Loews and renamed Cabot Cinema. The marquis looks original, but it's actually been recently revamped too. In 1976, a new owner came along and Cabot was the home of a long running magic show that became renowned around the country and even got into Guinness Book of Records, according to the theatre website. Kevin O'Connor from "This Old House" has a fascinating video clip on the website, going behind the scenes. The seats have been replaced since he did the video. And there's an "orchestra platform", right under the balcony. Five café tables with four seats each. Same price as regular orchestra seats, just easier for some who might want more elbow/shoulder room, or need to get up and move around. The Cabot's director said a few words before the show, talking briefly about how much work has been done since 2014 to restore the theatre to its former glory. There's still much to be done (front lobby, and especially the washrooms where one poor lady got stuck in the wheelchair stall where the latch was broken and a screw was used as a temp method of sliding the bolt but not helpful when the screw falls out). They have a big donation drive on-going and a portion of every ticket includes a small fee that goes toward the revitalization fund. The one thing I found very distracting was people constantly getting up and walking out to the concessions for snacks or wine/beer. In a small setting, that kind of thing is more noticeable that in a bigger concert venue, or even a standard movie theatre where it's darker. Somehow seems disrespectful to the performer on stage. The staff also do not enforce the no video/no flash photography rules. Ok, stepping out of my glass house for a moment... Yes I took a couple short video clips and still felt guilty, but no way would I use a flash. Besides the fact that it can be hard on the eyes of the performer, really when you're in the 18th row, you're only lighting up the backs of peoples' heads a few feet in front of you with those smartphone cameras. Parking is tricky. If you are exceptionally fortunate (then buy a lottery ticket), you can get a metered parking spot on the street in front and around the corners from the theatre. There are some municipal parking lots starting a block away. The first one was small and already full when we got there half an hour before the show. We got one of the last spots in a bigger lot three blocks down at Federal and Chapman streets. Beautiful night for a walk with a full harvest moon. :) No parking ticket dispenser, we had to download an app called GoParkit, register an account, enter cc number, and vehicle info, then estimate how much time we would need. Not an ideal activity in a poorly lit area. Rate was posted as 25 cents/hr. Almost not worth it. Definitely not in the end, because the $1.00 we should have been billed never got charged. Didn't see a sign that parking was free in the evenings. Now we have a $10 balance for a system that is only being used in Beverly, MA and Dublin, Ireland. Not terribly useful at this point. But if another performer comes to The Cabot that we want to see, at least parking is covered. ;) read more

Recently had the opportunity to see BJ Thomas at The Cabot. It was a throw back in time for me, as I used to frequent that place when I was a teenager. Can't wait for the new seats to be installed, as it is a great venue, but a little uncomfortable on the old seats. I am really glad that they are reinventing The Cabot for live events. While standing in line, there was out-of-towners there complimenting Cabot Street and all the lovely eating establishments there were close by. While waiting in line a nice couple had grabbed a pizza from Maria's pizza and were very happy with their choice. Glad I am a local that could point them in that direction! read more

The theater is lovely and the new seats are wonderful. I have nothing against the theater and will return. My review is of the Rat Pack is Back show. My brother and I took my mom for her birthday. Not our thing but knew the music would be enjoyed by our mom. I wish these guys JUST sang! The so called humor that they thought they were interjecting was offence to women and homosexuals. I was mortified as my brother happens to be gay. They try to excuse the vulgarity as "it's the 60's we can say what what we want" Not true!! It was offensive then and it was offensive Saturday night. Great old theater. People who work there are lovely. Good sound for music, and not a bad seat in the place. The addition of a small dance floor in back was wonderful as I don't care to sit at concerts. Parking was also very easy. Only negative is lack of cocktails, but liked the local beer offering. Hopefully get to see another show there soon. read more

Easy enough parking around town (I got a curb side spot 5 spot's down, across the street), plenty eatery's & shops to check out if you get there early. I've lived on the North Shore for over 20 years and have never been to this place. I have to say this is a hidden gem. It is one of those theaters of yesteryear complete with balconies and stone carvings. That being said parts like the seats and carpet are modern and comfortable. There is a full bar with local brews and spirits. The popcorn is made fresh right off the machine - something forgotten in the age of bagged popcorn in an AMC world. I couldn't pass that up. I didn't regret it. The prices were pretty reasonable for a theater. They have live shows and movie specials. I recommend this for anyone looking for the old theater experience or just something different to do. read more

Old time entertainment with great popcorn and soda or a nice glass of wine or cold beer. They don't make places like this any more. It's a mini Wang Center like in Boston. The prices are fantastic. Amazing new and old acts as well as movies to see. Just look at the list. Down town parking is terrible in Beverly. They have built up the residents and given the parking away so theatres and restaurants suffer. My last concert took me a half mile away for parking. It was raining so I went home and missed the show. Go early to dine and get good parking. It's worth it. read more

My wife and I saw 'Colossal' with Anne Hathaway here. Beautiful theatre calling back to a golden age of live performance. This is my second time to see an event at the Cabot. We got street parking close to the theatre both times. The theatre is nice inside. They bring in some great acts at what I feel are reasonable prices. Here's why the one star review. I had 2 second row center seats to the Charlie Musslewhite show on July 1st. My girlfriend and I took our seats 15 minutes before showtime. The guy behind us in row 3 was clearly drunk. He said the F word at least 30 times before the show started. He also told the guy next to him (that wasn't even with him), 3 racial jokes disparaging Mexicans, African Americans and Jews. I hoped this would end when the show started, it didn't. The guy heckled the artist during and after ever song. After about 4 songs I went to one of the attendants to report this guy. I told the security guy exactly what I just said above. He told me that he was well aware of it because I wasn't the first to complain. I asked what he intended to do about it and he offered to move our seats that we paid top dollar for from second row center to a couple of folding chairs way off to the side! I asked why don't you just move the guy that's bothering everyone and I was told "It's a different world today". I have absolutely no idea what that means. They went on to serve this guy 5 more beers and he proceeded to get louder and more repulsive as the night progressed. Let me finish by saying I've been going to music festivals, concerts, and rowdy events for 45 years. I'm no prude. I'm no stranger to what is way over the line and what isn't. This is a great venue but they couldn't care less about their guests who are paying top dollar for the best seats in the house. Everyone who was around this guy that night had their evenings ruined because for some reason security chose to let one loudmouth drunk ruin the evening of many. I'll think long and hard before going to the Cabot Theatre again and that's a shame. read more

I've been here three times for live concerts and none have been ideal. Most recently went to see LeAnn Rimes, what a disaster! Two people in the balcony got thrown out for talking. Although many more people were talking the entire show. The girl next to me spent the entire concert on her phone, watching instagram stories instead of the concert and taking photos occasionally. But the absolute worst thing about The Cabot is that it thinks it's a dinner theater but it's not set up to be one. Instead of closing the bar during the show like any civilized theater, the bar is open the whole time, so people are CONSTANTLY getting up to get more beer and interrupting the view of the show. The seating is tight, one person getting up will disturb an entire section. Also the ushers had ABSOLUTELY no idea about the seating. They tried to move people to seat me in the WRONG seats. I saw multiple ushers direct people to the wrong seating. Once the show started and they were still seating people (another pet peeve of mine... most theaters showing concerts close the doors after the start of the show, but The Cabot will let entire groups of drunk people in to find seats even after the main act gets going) the ushers had to use flashlights and get down real close to the seats to figure out what row they were looking at. Honestly it's not like the rows change daily, an usher should at least be able to tell if they are in the right section! Anyhow, I don't think I'll be spending any more money here. I don't need to pay 55 dollars to see drunk people block my view of a perfectly good concert. read more

Just saw Big Bad Voodoo Daddy last weekend and I don't think it can get any better than the show i saw at the Cabot. SO Glad that they rescued this amazing vintage delight. It's a stunningly beautiful place (always has been, but I was very surprised at how great the atmosphere was and how great the acoustics are). Saw BBVD a few months back at Scullers and the difference between the two places is astounding. We had great seats in the 5th row at Cabot and there's just something about the place that really makes people comfortable. (Love Scullers but it's awful if you don't have a table front and center) The Cabot is exactly what a venue should be - fabulous surroundings, really warm staff and amazing sound.
