This is a great place for craft beer drinkers to come. They have a wonderful outdoor patio, so definitely a nice place to come in the summer. They have a minimum of six cask ales on tap. And 15 other taps of craft beers and seltzers. The owner comes out and mingles with the customers, making the event even better for the customers. More personal to me, they support a lot of the local high school bands. A great local community booster. I recommend this place unreservedly.

Fantastic family owned business with terrific beers and outstanding artisan pizza. This pub has its own dart team and has three well lit dartboards for all to enjoy. The highlight of this venue is the jazz music and other live activities daily.

Backbeat offers a nice variety of beers that is not a barrage of IPAs that you normally find at breweries these days. They've even gone back to the roots of English-style cask and IPAs that are rare in the current environments and styles that are being used in most craft breweries. The space is a new and clean, with an industrial feel. It's both welcoming and spacious, giving you a feel that there is plenty of room for everyone to enjoy their drinks without feeling crowded or being in a dingy space. The servers are excellent and polite, giving you advice based on your tastes as well as being upbeat and passionate about what they do. It's been one of the better tap experiences I've had during the quarantine days that have been going on for 6+ months at this point. Let me put the negative reviews to rest on the food... this is not what you came for. There ARE cheap options to bypass the "rules" but we got the pretzel ("sticks") and while they were nothing to compete with a true German pretzel, it was serviceable. If people like "A Y." want to complain about wanting to brewery hop, then plan your day better or go to the Mass government Yelp page and blast them, not the local brewery that's doing everything they can to stay open AND continue to offer you a place to get out, enjoy a pint, and continue to abide by the rules. Happy to return here my next trip to Salem, it was a pretty good experience given the current circumstances.

    Every beer here was fantastic!

This place was such a pleasant surprise in Beverly! We spent a few hours here on a Saturday afternoon, and could have happily stayed here even longer - there's just that much delicious beer & food! We snacked our way through a few things on their menu, starting with the Baguette & Pub Cheese (perfectly toasted!) and then moving on to the Pretzels with Beer Cheese (yes, cheese is the common theme in most of what I eat). The pretzels were extremely filling... but that didn't stop me from also ordering a giant oreo meringue cookie. This place has an amazing selection of baked desserts, which is a unique aspect compared to other breweries I've been to. The pulled chicken sandwich was wonderful as well (A+++ pickle... this is a key priority for me!). The brioche bun was soft and buttery and the chicken was moist and flavorful. It was a bit of a twist on a typical pulled chicken sandwich - more of a sweet ginger vibe, as opposed to traditional BBQ, but I really liked it! But what's a great brewery without some fantastic beer? Thankfully, this place delivers on that element too. First, let me just say that I LOVED the clever names to each of their brews (think the "Czech You Out" or "The Spunky Monk"). I also really appreciate that this place takes variety seriously - from NEIPAs to stouts to sours to pale ales to everything in between, Backbeat definitely doesn't pigeonhole itself into just one type of beer. But amazingly, everything they do, they also do REALLY WELL. The surprising underdog winner of the afternoon was the apple cranberry hard tonic. It wasn't something I planned on ordering until others raved about it, but I'm so glad I did. It wasn't a traditional hard seltzer (way more flavorful and fruity) - it literally tasted like Autumn in a glass! I also have to shoutout the space here - I was really glad that this was a brewery where you felt you truly had space to breathe without being crowded inside with too many other people (super important to me during COVID times). It was a big, open, airy space, with a nice mix of big tables for groups and smaller tables for couples. I am really looking forward to coming back here again throughout the winter - there are so many more beers (and so much more food!) I can't wait to try. PS. Bonus points for an exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. The cherry on top of an all-around outstanding place.

Went for the beer and left extremely full and happy! We tried a good chunk of the brews and were really pleased with all of them. That's pretty rare! Also the hot doggy the baguette was amazing and I will definitely be coming back for more of that! Overall the atmosphere is really nice (indoor and outdoor seating) and I think this place might be the best of all the tap rooms/bars in Beverly. Am very interested to try the coffee and baked goods too.

Cool place in the heart of Beverly by train station. Great staff that knows their beers which is hard to find these days. They have a food menu although I didn't partake. Tip: cool little British food shop attached with Cadbury chocolate, crisps and some meat pies

Awesome! Just finished my ham and cheese croissant sandwich. Who would have thought about having breakfast at a brewery? My daughter said the coffee was delicious and my English Breakfast tea was yummy. No after taste. Then onto the waffle with fruit and maple fresh cream shared by my daughter and 21/2 year olds grandson. The place is definitely child friendly. Go to the counter order, sit, wait a few, and presto your meal Is there. Fast for sure. Simple foods. Lots of space. Long picnic tables. Beautiful open outdoor area too. Live music evenings too! Please support these folks!

    Love the atmosphere!

My favorite spot in Beverly! I've tried their coffee, sandwiches, and a range of their beers (loved their blonde & their brown ale), and everything has been AMAZING! Atmosphere is fantastic. It's my favorite place to work when I'm getting stir crazy (and would be a great place to study since they have wifi)! The environment is much more suitable for working during the day than coffee shops around town in my opinion, and there is always PLENTY of available seating (with outlets). And live music every night?! They also have a ton of board games (FREE to play...) so I'd recommend Backbeat as a hangout spot for ANY age! They have an extensive breakfast, lunch and snack menu, in addition to a cafe menu (coffee, cole brew, espresso drinks...), beers on tap, and cask beers, etc. Oh, and service is amazing! Place is a GEM!

Located right across the street from a commuter rail station I expected this place to be more crowded. On a few of my visits Backbeat was pretty quiet but somehow the popular beers on the menu was not available which was disappointing. Nonetheless the staff were super friendly and I had a great time.

Wow this place was something special. We loved the hard tonics. I would say they are a little sweet for some people. These are not white claw seltzer. One tasted just like Crystal Light. We also enjoyed the beer selection of IPAs. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We bought a 1$ pickle to comply with the food with beer law. The pickles were so good we brought two more.

Great beer, food and people. Awesome location to jump right off the train or grab amazing beer, or before heading Into Boston for a game (if we ever get those again). Has a really unique British foods store onsite.

Found a table indoors (outdoor seating available as well) with ample room for all five of us including dolls, cards, and toys. I ordered a Bloody Mary made with a local alcoholic seltzer which was a great drink but also a significant appetizer with all the fixings. I ordered the "Luca Brazi" sandwich which was excellent and took home half the sandwich for dinner tonight. *Important footnote...I NEVER have leftovers when I order dinner. I ALWAYS eat EVERYTHING!! I highly recommend if you are a tourist (or a local) take the two block walk from visiting The Plymouth Rock and enjoy a great meal and drinks at THE VITAMIN SEA RESTAURANT!!

It…read morewas founded by business partners Dino Funari, Pete Kiley, Josh Sherman and Richard DiBona. Funari, Kiley and Sherman frequently got together on weekends to embrace their love of homebrewing. After doing this for a number of years, and building up a local following distributing their home-brews from a blue cooler, they decided to open a brick & mortar brewery and taproom. At this time, DiBona came on board as a partner and assisted with the search for a location. After exausting all options in the seaside town of Hull, the partners acquired a 3,000-sq-ft space in the "craft beer friendly" town of Weymouth. The name "Vitamin Sea" was chosen to reflect Funari's love of surfing and surf culture. The brewery quickly gained a reputation for their juicy New England IPAs, decadent Stouts, and experimental Fruited Sours. A second location opened along the waterfront in Plymouth in May 2024. I recently visited Vitamin Sea's Plymouth location while I was in town for the day. I was scheduled to meet up with some other beer bloggers at a different brewery later. I soon realized that Plymouth has an excellent craft beer scene and decided to head to Vitamin Sea first. The Plymouth facility is a beautiful location along the waterfront. I really liked the nautical/surf design theme too! I grabbed a seat at the bar and began to look over the menu. I heard that the Plymouth location is known for their excellent ciabatta sandwiches, so I ordered the "Parm to Table" (oven-roasted chicken cutlet, house-made marinara, melted mild & aged provolone, Parmesan, whipped lemon ricotta, basil on toasted ciabatta). It was the BEST chicken cutlet sandwich I've ever had in my life! What made it stand apart from other sandwiches? The whipped lemon ricotta! I washed it down with a pour of "Currency Check" (Double New England IPA), followed by "Mexican Blanket" (Imperial Stout). The beer, like the food, was fantastic! I must also point out that the staff were so friendly, knowledgable, and helpful throughout my visit. I highly recommend Vitamin Sea Brewing and look forward to visiting their Weymouth location!
