Here you can see the floors and windows

I went to a wedding here over the weekend. I can't speak to how they were to deal with, but the space was pretty cool. They don't have their own parking, but there were lots around. On street parking has a limit, so for daytime functions, keep an eye on the clock. Floors were good for dancing. The acoustics were decent for the music and microphone use. The ladies room was new, clean and plentiful. They had an elevator like I'd never seen before. I liked the venue from a guest point of view.

Olio is a hidden gem in the North Shore! We just got married in April, and Olio was an integral part of our wedding's magic. It's a beautiful space, and with just a few flowers and lights it absolutely blossomed-our guests raved about the venue! It was such a breeze to have our ceremony & reception all in one place, and the transition process was seamless. Sarah was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process-from the first time we stepped into the venue, to post-wedding loose ends, she was available to help us. Sarah and her staff are attentive, detail-oriented, and caring. They are clearly in the right business!

Having the opportunity to visit this venue for Peabody Pride event, I had a good time. Upon sitting down to write, there was a problem: How the hell do you write a review on an event space? Considering there's outside catering, people running an event, and no in-house bar (but an outside service could be brought in) what is there to write about? Well, the building itself carries an industrial feel with the concrete walls (apparently the first of it's kind when it was built in the early 1900's according to the website) with yet a rustic feel with the hardwood floors and high-vaulted wood frame cieling. And it is a large space which has been updated with restrooms, a new set of stairs, even an elevator lift. I will say for the venue, I did like the space. It was quite impressive to say the least. Looking up the venue prices, there was a sticker shock at first. Peak season on a Saturday can run $5000 (most expensive, off season is $3,500 but also available hourly for $200/hr Monday-Thursday), but considering our research on venues in the past when booking our Wedding, this is actually pretty decent pricing, and they are flexible if there are last-minute bookings. The site also offers a discount to non-profits and Peabody residents (yeah baby!) although it isn't posted what that rate is. With regard to ease of set up, there are the front stairs to the entrance on Main street (which would be aweful on so many levels both literal and figurative as the space is on the second floor), and there is a rear entrance which goes to the venue space itself. It seemed vendors were using this access. I did not explore that as I figured it was meant for vendors to use and quite frankly I had no business there. Maybe a little more liquor, poor judgement, and friends to egg me on I would of, but moi femme does not like that. All said and done, I would like to attend future events there. If I were to book a venue, this would be on a short list of places I would check out.

Before we were even engaged we knew Olio was going to be the one. We saw photos of a wedding that took place at Olio in 2021 and loved the modern industrial vibe. I followed their Instagram account and was sold. It was the only venue we toured and we booked a November 2023 date right away. Every single time we walked into the room we got excited and knew our guests would be wowed. The space is so unique and a wide open canvas to make your own. We knew we wanted a club vibe and the high ceilings and cement block walls were the perfect backdrop for a disco party. The proximity to Salem was another plus because it gave our guests a chance to explore an area they've never been to. Sarah is so helpful and informative and very communicative which is helpful for someone like me who has a million questions. We received compliment upon compliment for our venue choice and we wouldn't change a thing. Thank you Olio team!

Olio is absolutely stunning! They were the first and only wedding venue that we toured, and we couldn't be happier with our decision. When entering Olio, the first floor was unassuming, and we weren't sure if we were in the same space that we had seen in the photos. But wow, when you head over to the stairs! After walking up the grand stairs to the event space, we knew we found the venue for our dream wedding. We were looking for a modern, alternative space that we could hold the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. Planning a wedding during the pandemic, we needed a venue that had plenty of space to spread out while also feeling intimate and personal. Olio was the perfect space. We both have a minimalistic design sense, so the exposed concrete walls, hardwood floors and impressive windows create such a beautiful space that we didn't need to go over the top with decorations. It was so cool to hear the history of the space; a detail our guests loved. Sarah was so positive and helpful through the whole process; answering any questions we had and checking in regularly.

(They clearly saw me there; we made eye contact and the one guy wasn't even doing anything.) After about 10 to 15 minutes of waiting with no service, we were about to leave when a server finally came to our table. Since they were obviously busy and weren't keeping up with the crowd that night, we tried to order two drinks each so they could save a little of their time and we could relax without worrying about if a server was going to take our order again before the end of the week. The server very sharply said that he was NOT going to give us two drinks at a time, CERTAINLY not with drinks of this high alcohol content. We ordered one drink each, cashed out and bounced. The cocktail I got was fine; I could make a slightly worse version at home at a fraction of the price (or even two at once!). We we were told later by a friendlier Salemite at a bar with a better vibe that there is a Massachusetts state law that prohibits having two drinks at once at a bar. Fair enough. Had our server told us that, unfortunately, he wasn't allowed to give us two drinks at once -- instead of making us feel like idiots/degenerates for daring to ask -- we probably would have dropped a lot of vacation money there that night. Oh well; we had a great time at the other places we went.
