My friends and I came here for dinner as a party of five. Our server was absolutely kind and attentive throughout the evening, and I have no complaints about her service whatsoever. Unfortunately, the overall experience was very disappointing. Our food took over an hour to come out, and when one of my friends received her shrimp scampi, there was a hair in the dish. When another server stopped by to check on us, we explained what had happened, and her response was, "Oh, do you want a new dish?" Of course we wanted a new dish. Would anyone want to eat food after finding someone else's hair in it? We let our actual server know, and she was apologetic, which we appreciated. However, there was no compensation or any additional effort made to address the situation. What was most disappointing was how little concern the restaurant seemed to show about the issue. Between the extremely long wait, finding a hair in the food, and the lack of response from management/staff, I left feeling very disappointed. I HATE giving bad reviews, but this place is a disaster. The people that work there are very nice, but unfortunately that's the only good thing. SUPER unattentive, and the food takes forever. The last 2 times I was there my order for takeout took well over an hour, and there was NOONE THERE. When it finally came out, it was completely wrong... It was kind of unbelievable. It was early and the place was empty. They were extremely apologetic and were very generous and gave me a gift card which wasn't necessary but appreciated. So I tried it again last night and we sat at the bar and ordered chicken wings. They came out wrong and then they brought out the chicken wings, but left the original incorrect thing on the bill. I had to speak to them to take that off. I ordered a vegetarian sushi roll and my girlfriend ordered chicken bites. The chicken bites came out about 35 minutes later and my sushi never came out at all. I finally ordered it to go and I hate to say it, but I think that's the last time I'll be in there. read more

We ordered a sushi boat and a super Tuscan red bottle of wine. We got sad looking sushi, on the menu for $60 and charged $70, and a red blend sweet wine, not the same as the $58 bottle on the menu. We ate our sushi, declined the wine and drank water out of plastic cups. They also serve wine in plastic glasses! We had to ask to dry the wet table and for silverware and napkins We asked about the discrepancy of the sushi price and the waiter brought a menu with a different price. Their website advertised the lower price but obviously they don't update this and have old menus floating around. The manager would not change the price to be paid. We left with a bad evening at this average restaurant that offers bad service and average food at higher prices than advertised. Told them we would not return. Also rats scurrying about outdoors. With company of 8 people I've made a reservation for Saturday 8/1/26 on the patio. Don't get me wrong - the view and the weather were wonderful but that's about it. Complete and utter lack of service in this place. It took 30 min to get the drinks, another 35 min to get the food. In waves - meaning half of people were eating and half were looking and salivating. I brought this to the attention of the first waitress, she was plain rude and unresponsive. When I called the Manager the explanation was given that the kitchen is on the second floor and it takes extra time to travel. How about putting 2 servers for the table of 8? Second waitress was fine. Swordfish - overcooked. To add insult to the injury they pushed 20 % tip down my throat and then asked for additional tip on the receipt. Does anybody in this place know the meaning of the acronym "TIPS"? To Insure Prompt Service! Most important word here is "PROMPT". Neither we got "PROMPT" nor "SERVICE". Never again! read more

The restaurant is in a beautiful location overlooking the water. The interior has very nice small decorative details with an aquatic theme. The parking lot is small and there's another parking lot under the bridge. The staff are great and accommodating. The crispy salmon Maki has a satisfying crunch with a flavorful spicy mayo. The fried fish sandwich came with a huge piece of fish with a healthy amount of toppings. The fries itself are amazing with great seasoning and cooked very well. My sister lives a 2 min walk from Mission Boathouse. She and her husband love their brunch and said I have to give it a try. The waterfront restaurant is located at the Beverly Pier. Very cute and bright upon entry. We walked over but there is a small lot in the front that could fit about 20ish cars. We took the elevator up to the host stand. Upon arrival we were greeted and seated promptly. We opted for the high top seats. The server came over greeted us and gave us time to look at the menu. We decided to do the bottomless brunch which is $19.99 per person (price as of 2025). We also got a bottle of champagne for $25 with small carafes of pineapple , cranberry and orange juice. The server said the champagne comes with one juice and there is an additional charge for the the other juices. My sister explained that she had never been charged for the additional juices. I think the server was trying to explain that moving forward they charge but given my sisters obvious disappointment she didn't charge us extra. For the bottomless brunch you can order up to 3 items at a time and they are delivered to the table à la carte . They also brought out home fries and foccacia for the table to share. I had the cheesy scrambled eggs, bread pudding, beef taco, fish taco ,peri peri wings, meatball parm and jalepeno cornbread. They bring out the food so fast. The portions are on the small side to help prevent waste but I enjoyed that. Three rounds and the mimosas and I was stuffed. The fish tacos were the best. I had two of them. The beef taco was tasty as well,just a tad bit too juicy for my liking. The eggs were not good at all. Even with adding salt and pepper. Whenever I get something with cheese if the cheese isn't melted I don't want it. The mozzarella cheese. sprinkled on top made me feel like the eggs werent hot. I don't even like jalenpenos but that cornbread was so flavorful and not spicy like I initially anticipated. Heavy on the jalepneo flavor but tasty nonetheless. I didn't realize peri peri sauce had a kick to it. But it was flavorful and the wings were crispy and cooked to my liking. Because two of us orders the meatball they put both in a bowl. I didn't care for the amount of sauce in the bowl and found the meatball to be flavorless. The bread pudding was decent. Overall a solid experience. I get it, the people working want to go home when its slow but there are still customers eating/drinking. Also no warning for last call. Stopped here on a whim on our drive up to Bar Harbor. Atmosphere was great, for a 3pm lunch anyway. We got the Tuna Tartare, a spicy crunchy salmon maki roll, and a Boston maki roll. The tuna tartare is a must! I loved the spicy roll, I'm personally not a fan of cream cheese in a sushi roll but my husband loved the Boston roll. OMFG. What a horrible experience. The service was totally unacceptable. We sat down and ordered drinks. It took a while before they showed up. We were then ready to order food, but that took forever to flag down our server. We ordered an app and 2 entrees. The appetizer came out in 15 minutes. We were waiting and waiting for our entrees. They came out 30 minutes after that. When we asked what the hold up was (we almost canceled our order), they mentioned the kitchen was backed up. Which was very odd since the place was half empty. At that point, no apology or service recovery at all. It would have been great if we were told about this without having to beg. So we asked if they were going to comp us anything. Our server was unable to make that decision and went to track down the manager. And THAT took forever. 15 minutes later the manager finally came over and did indeed comped us the food and finally apologized. BUT not proactively at all - we had to bitch and whine before they acknowledged any issue. We felt totally ignored. It's really too bad since we are fairly regular customers. Staff was very nice and attentive. Appetizers came out decently quick in which we had the buffalo cauliflower bites and crab cake. The cauliflower was cooked well but the buffalo sauce was very strong. It could have used a nice blue cheese dressing on the side for dipping. The crab cake was the highlight of the night. The one crab cake sat on a bed of pepper relish with the mango habanero aioli on top was a surprisingly good combo. My wife ordered the filet and ask for it medium. Looked good coming out the we find out the potatoes and spinach the steak were laying on were very cold and the steak was very rare. At a price of $48 you expect the meal to be at least warm and cooked properly. And now the churassco, I had zero idea what this was gonna come out as but it was just kind of a hodgepodge of stuff thrown on a plate. Yucca frites were very dry and stale tasting so it took a lot to chew. I didn't know the carrot was going to be shredded carrots cause unless it's in a salad I prefer actual carrot slices. Steak and plantains were cooked very well and were tasty. It came out on a skillet but there was zero sizzle. I don't really understand why they put onion rings on the rice it just made it harder to eat. I do hope the food got more consistent throughout the night cause the beginning was kind of a mixed bag. read more

i've dined at mission boathouse enough times now to have more experiences to share. it has comfortable seating, whether in the main deck bar, dining, or the top floor, which all have different menus. my favorite orders are the oysters, short rib empanadas, shrimp pizza, mushroom pizza & rib-eye. the last time i visited, we started with a bottle of saratoga but then our second bottle was clear. when asked, our server said the second bottle is always refilled "filtered" tap water, while i scanned the room and every other table had a blue saratoga bottle. i definitely felt offended that they didn't automatically provide or ask what type of water we wanted, when i indicated still in the beginning. seriously rude. i forgot the servers name but she claimed they always do that, when i had never experienced that before nor did i see anyone else with a clear bottle. the food is good, at times excellent, but this service faux pas really bothered me and i haven't been back. service has been great every other time. ambiance: 5/5 food: 4.5/5 drinks: 4/5 service: 2/5 mission boathouse: 3/5 (based on last visit) read more

I am writing this review in hopes that this results in the way future patrons of this restaurant are treated. I had a wedding reception 6/6/26 on the second floor of this restaurant. It was a small reception of 10 people. When I booked the reservation one month prior to this event, I was told they were unable to guarantee a window table. My husband and I went to The Mission Boathouse two nights prior to the reception to ensure this was all set. On the day of the reception, we arrived to the restaurant at noon, the staff attempted to seat us in the middle of the restaurant next to the fireplace. There were plenty of window seats available. The "hostess" then acquiesced and sat my party in the bar by the windows. We waited 10 minutes for water to be brought to the table which was lukewarm. (Meanwhile, the hostess was enjoying her cold water!) We then ordered a bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne which arrived 15 minutes later and was barely chilled. The waitress who opened it, obviously had no idea how to open a bottle correctly and proceeded to pour into my glass straight upside down! The next bottle of champagne we ordered was not available, we ended up with Prosecco. How is it that a restaurant that serves brunch, has no cold champagne? The list of transgressions is too long to put in this review; these are just a few of many. We spent $650.00 and were given a 25-dollar gift certificate from the manager who never deigned to come over and speak to us. I then sent a message on Mission Restaurant management website and did NOT get a response. I had to write this review as this special event was marred by inept, poorly trained staff and management. Well it was May 10th Mother Day. We had reservations for 7PM. We were seated promptly we had a nice table in a side room. My family and I don't go out as a family we had. That took a while but not horrible When the drinks arrived we ordered a few apps. Chowder , salad and wings. This is when things started to go down hill. We waited another hour for the food. When we asked the waitress said why don't you come and watch the cooks with me? Our only hope would be good food. Nope they fell down miserably. I ordered the shrimp scampi $47. Zero flavor zero scampi sauce. Definitely was microwaved! Menus said 5 jumbo shrimp. It came with 3 medium shrimp. A total disappointment. This place should not even be called a restaurant!! We go out several times a month The waitress suggested we try again for brunch. The bill was $200 dollars and the worst $200 I have ever spent. Stay far away from this place. It was the worst dining experience we have ever had. You have been warned. Save your money or go to a real restaurant. Plenty around I have to leave a star. To be fair I only went for a drink and appetizer. I will return to explore their dinner options. That said, went there mid day, sat outside loved the view of the ocean and boats very family oriented. Our waiter (Jack) was super attentive, welcoming and professional. Their oysters were fresh and delicious. The Margaritas and Mojito was a bit of a let down as it tasted more like sugary syrup and little to almost no alcohol for the price. Their rum punch was delicious. Came here on a Friday night and was able to get a table overlooking the harbor. Theres a platform that's right on the harbor that they open in the summer so that you're sitting right by the water and the boats while dining. We got some wine, 2 orders of sushi and rib eye tacos that came with a side of yuca chips. The rosé was alright. The food was really good, especially the rib eye tacos and the yuca chips. We were looking for a place for lunch when my wife suggested Mission Boathouse which I had heard of but never tried. We came mid-afternoon Memorial Day (Monday). Seated promptly and enjoyed a wine and Amalfi Spritz while we waited. The room is beautiful and boats at moorings in Beverly Harbor on a bright warm day added to our enjoyment. My wife and I went here for the first time this past weekend for our anniversary. While it's a stunning location, it was somewhat disappointing to me considering how pricey it was. We didn't make a point to mention that it was our anniversary, but the waitress asked us if we were there for any occasion after introducing herself, so we told her. I'm not sure why, because they didn't do anything special in light of the occasion. Otherwise, the service was ok. My wife got the Thai Seafood for her entree. It didn't blow her away, but she enjoyed it. I love swordfish, so I got the Grilled Swordfish Piccata. It was mediocre at best. It was a bit dry and thin, and I like my swordfish steaks to be thick and tender, the way I think swordfish should be. Also, maybe I missed them, but I didn't notice any capers at all. Lastly, the presentation was not very classy. It was sitting on top of a heaping of mashed potatoes. Generally, presentation isn't a big deal to me. But for the prices, they could put a little more effort into. Overall, it's a nice restaurant, but the prices were more in line with a place in Boston, and the quality of the food and presentation didn't measure up to those prices. read more

So. I'm back with my wife. This is my second visit since week one of opening. Somewhat unfair for a real review. I said I'd be back. Was out on my boat with my wife on a spectacular day. It was not open on my first visit. It's called "The Upper Deck" as they advertise "light fare, great drinks and a killer view of Beverly harbor" We were able to grab a sofa and two chairs although they tend to save that for larger groups. Nailed it. All the recent pics today are from sitting there. Immediately greeted by our fabulous waitress, Christy (management pay attention to her skills with patrons... bravo!) They immediately served triple filtered still water... No charge!! Asked if we wanted an adult beverage, while we perused the menu. So, the Upper Deck" is a limited menu with extensive Sushi, Tapas like apps and a few heavier entrees. We were good with the lighter fare and fabulous view. The windows were constructed like garage doors. With glass rails. I've never seen anything like that. Drinks were well made and a generous pour. Much different than my first visit where the shot glass was used. I think they got the clue. My wife ordered a Caesar salad with steak tips. I ordered the coconut shrimp and a Phoenix sushi roll. All served at the same time. Mine looked great! My wife likes her steak "medium well" (don't ask me to explain lol) It arrived "Rare" ! Really rare. Christy came over to check and my wife mentioned it. Christy whisked it away, apologized and said "we'll fix this, and, take it off the tab!!!!! She offered that no one should have to wait to get their dinner correct!! Hers came back. I had just started to dive into the Sushi. Which was a solid 9.0. My coconut shrimp was a bit too long into the fryalator but was very tasty. All in all. They deserve my rarely given 5 stars tonight. The combination of service, ambiance and food is a winner. Suggestion that our server Christy agreed with... serve your Martinis in a bar cup with strainer at the table so as not to spill the drink and put a little more flair into the table side pour.
