How do you begin to praise a place that gave you such a story book day. We really don't think we can put into words the job the commons 1854 did! From the moment we started planning to the moment the send off everything was perfect! We first emailed them to plan a already planned wedding but covid had other plans for us. However not all things are bad if we didn't change our date we would have never found this place. From the moment we meet with Gianna and Zoe, who were our coordinators, they were amazing! Letting us plan everything the way we wanted it, yet also guiding us in the right direction. They were incredibly fast through email to respond to us with all our questions. Also their suggestions on appetizers we amazing!! When it comes to the actual day we can not say enough about the staff. Zoe was there at every moment and it felt like she never left for a second. She's there to ask if we needed anything and even brought us drinks when the wait staff had their hands full. Gianna was also amazing and even meet me there early to put the cake into the fridge what a life saver. She even removed some bikers who were gonna ruin the perfect shot. I mean what else can we say, the food was amazing, the service was amazing, the atmosphere was beautiful. Everything was honestly perfect!! Not a day goes by that days doesn't play in my head and how fun and amazing it was. We pulled off a incredible COVID wedding mask and all. And we really don't think we could have done it without the help and care from The Commons 1854. You guys are truly amazing and make dreams come true!! From the bottom of our hearts we thank you!!! 10 starts out of 10!!!

This was my husband and I first time here and we were very impressed with the building it was gorgeous the decor was Victorian which sd the building is. Our good friends Casey and Lyndsey's wedding was here and it was a blast beautiful ceremony followed by a cocktail hour and then to the reception. The staff were really nice and kept up with amazing cocktail food. They served creamy tomato soup in a shot glass with sliced grilled cheese for dipping it was awesome! While we gathered into this beautiful room for cocktails we were impressed by a soft music band. The reception was outstanding decorated and the food was perfect Filet Mignon was cooked perfectly!

A pretty old building. Their planner was very thorough and explained pretty much everything to the point that we had no questions to ask at the end. Good for groups under 200. Their max was 190 or 200...and with that number your only option is a sit down dinner. For a buffet you'd need to come in under 150 (I think it was). They only use one caterer (Vinwood) and you can't have a cash bar. I was less than thrilled with their outdoor setting for ceremonies. It wasn't too bad but it was very small. The other option is to have the ceremony inside in the building - in their ballroom. Then guests go downstairs for cocktails while it gets switched over. There is a small balcony in the ballroom that fits about 4-5 tables, and depending on your party size you might have to put people up there.

The contract called for a minimum of 80 guests and we put down a deposit of $10,000. No one could have foreseen what happened with COVID-19, but by the summer it became clear that the wedding we planned would be impossible. Bramble offered us 3 options: 1. Hold the date of December 11th but cut down the guest list to 30-50 people. 2. Postpone the wedding to another date in 2021, but pay an additional $2500 to reschedule 3. Cancel the wedding and forfeit $6,053 of our $10,000 deposit. The first option was not even possible given the legal limitation on indoor events that were in place in July, 2020 and remain in place. We couldn't have had a wedding with 30 guests under orders issued by the Governor of Massachusetts. The second and third options were equally unacceptable for obvious reasons. We loved the venue and don't blame Bramble Hospitality for all of the problems caused by COVID-19. That being said, we shouldn't have to forfeit more than $6,000. We have been going back and forth with Bramble but have not been able to reach a reasonable compromise. Anyone considering booking with Bramble Hospitality at Willowdale should consider our experience before booking your wedding.

You may have…read morelegitimate complaints about $20 to get in on the weekends or paying to park in a field but to blame the fair on vendor prices takes a special kind of stupid. I'm going to focus on the positive, which there is a lot of. My two young children had such an amazing and educational time. From the area where they could pretend to plant seeds, then take their produce to the farmer's market, to our ever favorite bunny and bee buildings that have been generational staples of the best agricultural fair nearest Boston, THAT is what you go to Topsfield for and not $18 ice cream cones. We pet sheep, goats, cows, bunnies and fed chickens. I did a lot of these activities when I was a youngster at fairs all around the northeast and I'm happy to pass this on to my children. How detached we have become from where our food comes from in urban environments, I think even adults need a refresher on what farm life is like. While prices of rides can seem expensive at first and are made confusing on purpose in terms of what they cost in "credits", I broke it down to about $4 a ride after grabbing the card for my two kids and they got their fill of rides without paying the $90 in total to ride all day with a wristband. The Mexican lemonade stand in the adult ride area was the best! $5 refills when we could get watermelon and strawberry lemonades with fresh fruit in them was a crazy good hit as we all shared the different flavors on a 80+ degree day. Pro tip on not spending too much on food is finding the tents from the churches who have no profit motive, or at least less of one. I fed my family for $30 at the Congressional church spot which included a turkey dinner. Grilled cheese for $5 vs double that right around the corner was what did it for me and my hungry children. They could definitely better at the parking aspect. We tried getting there at fair opening and STILL waited almost an hour to get parked. Rt 1 traffic gets backed up so fast while they take cars one by one paying the $15 cash to get in. I don't know, maybe a booth concept with 5-6 open for different lanes would help. Topsfield Fair hasn't been around since 1818 for nothing. It's got a ton of free activities once inside, anything your empty belly desires that is on the unhealthy side, and of course people watching. It's probably not the best experience on the weekends with the crowds, definitely try and hit it up on a random Tuesday after work.

Allison and Sarah could not have been more comforting and proactive. Over email, phone, and video call, they put my mind at ease and I felt so prepared the day of my wedding, no matter what restrictions were in place. Allison could not have done a better job the day of. She built a great rapport with my family, bridal party, and the venue's event manager to ensure the day ran smoothly. She knew the schedule and set up like the back of her hand. When the timing of certain day-of activities changed last minute, she made sure to let me know of the changes and the night went on without issue. If it were not for COVID and my anxieties around how it would affect our wedding I likely would not have looked for an outside coordinator- our venue did provide one that began to work closely with us (and Allison) in the month or so before the wedding and I truly believe she would have done a comparable job in the day-of execution. But it's the long term commitment to the planning process that makes Without a Hitch special. And while our venue did not host many weddings during COVID, Without a Hitch planned so many, and had the experience and suggestions that made the wedding feel as normal as it possibly could. For any of my friends planning weddings at a less conventional venue or just want more support, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Without a Hitch, and more specifically Allison!

We arrived at 10 am and there were fewer than 10 cars in the lot. This is mid October which is peak time so you can imagine how confused we were. $25 got us a small bag to fill. That was all we had to pay for the group of 5 of us! No ticket or bag per person requirements you see at other places. This is a pretty small orchard so by mid-October, I would guess only 1/3 of the trees had apples left. All of the Asian pears and other stone fruits were gone at this point so you'll want to go in September for those. We were still able to get 4-5 different varieties of apples. The only con is that you don't have all the other activities and attractions that you find at larger orchards. No apple cider donuts, farm animals, playground, food, or tractor rides. For us that was okay because my older parents and 1 year old didn't need those things and preferred the quiet experience without the lines. Maybe next year, we'll try Conner's when the little one is older and can appreciate it. If you want low key apple picking without paying a fortune, this is the place for you.
