About a month ago, we had the most magical wedding ever at Cruiseport Gloucester!! We had our ceremony and reception in the grand ballroom with cocktail hour aboard Beauport Cruiselines' beautiful boat. Let me tell you, my guests still can't stop raving about the wedding! We honestly couldn't have done it without our event manager, Francesca. She is the reason why our wedding went so smoothly, from beginning to end, and even made the planning stages as stress-free as it possibly could be. Francesca really knows her stuff and gave us advice on everything from décor to food to guests, and it all turned out beautifully. The venue was spectacular, the staff was wonderful, and I was told by our guests that the food was among the best they've had at a wedding (we had the filet mignon and salmon). My vendors and guests can't stop complimenting on how smoothly everything went, and my bridal party can't stop praising Francesca for how great she was throughout the entire night. I can honestly say because of Francesca's experience in planning and managing weddings, we had the most enjoyable time planning our wedding, and an even better time at the wedding. Many people have asked if we're glad the wedding is over with the stress of planning it and all, and we both definitely agree that we're truly sad it's over because it was the best time of our lives thus far! went to the Cruiseport this last Sunday for a good friends wedding. The food was decent, but nothing to write home about. The atmosphere felt very rushed. Even as a guest, I thought things were moving along much too quickly. My friend, who has worked her butt off to pay for her wedding and reception, did not even get the chance to eat. Her salad was cleared after a single bite, her entree wasn't even touched. She did get to eat her cake though, cause that was on the itinerary. They were rushed out 2 hours before their reservation ended. She ended up eating her wedding night dinner at Supreme Roast Beef and having her reception party in downtown Gloucester, Supremes gave her a bottle of wine, which is very generous and awesome. I am very disappointed for my friend. She paid good money to have a beautiful reception. I am planning to have a reception of my own, and I certainly won't be choosing Cruiseport. read more

Recently the Seaport Grille at Cruiseport Gloucester closed the downstairs to dining and reopened on the upstairs portion of the building. The Seaport Grille people did an excellent job on the upstairs ambiance, and the restaurant is certainly worth a visit for its ambiance. The restaurant seating offers a harbor view and outdoor seating for nice days. Its bar has a classy but casual atmosphere, so seems like it would be a great place for a drink after work or a date. I came on a Thursday when there is a lobster roll special for $9.95. I also ordered a cup of clam chowder. The lobster roll was delicious. If I had any criticism, it would be that I would want a little more lobster in the roll but for $9.95 I really can't complain. The clam chowder needs some work. It's fundamentally sound with a decent amount of clams and potatoes with a nice creamy texture. The soup has a good cream taste but was lacking a few additional ingredients or seasoning that would beneficially add to the taste of the cream, potatoes, and clams. Also, definitely order the large soup because it is much bigger than the smaller soup and only a $1 more. Overall, the ambiance was great, and the lobster roll was delicious at Seaport Grille at Cruiseport Gloucester. The clam chowder needs some work but don't get me wrong, it's not bad if you are craving basic clam chowder. I would definitely recommend giving Seaport Grille a try to support a new good local business. read more

Honestly we were surprised at how good this place really was. We have been here around a half a dozen times and everytime the food was exceptional. Occasionally the service can lag on a busy day, but the fried clam roll is wonderful. It is a sandwich in name only as it comes packed with a huge serving of perfectly fried whole clams. In the summer it has the finest deck in Gloucester to have a couple cocktails and watch the boats in the harbor. read more

We had our wedding at Cruiseport and it was nothing short of fabulous! The venue is beautiful and the decor is so neutral any theme would go perfectly. Beautiful floor to ceiling windows overlooking the harbor. Best Wedding Food EVER!! Guests are still raving about how great the food was 2 months later!! Clam Chowder was outstanding! Highly recommend doing food stations, everyone loved it! Tamie, Liz and Lucille were amazing! Love them! Highly recommend Cruiseport for any special occasion! The Seaport Grille next door is also great! We always enjoy going there. Great food and great drinks! Owner came over to greet us... really warm and friendly place. read more

I went to the Cruiseport for a wedding one weekend and was very very surprised at everything. The function hall had alot of space, enough for a decent sized dance floor and for tables to sit at least 100 guests. The staff was very friendly and helpful not only to the bridal party but to all the guests. Although it was raining the view of Gloucester harbor was nice from the outdoor terrace, I can only imagine how it looks on a nice day. Overall I had a great time there! read more

This review is on the Seaport Grille which is the restaurant part of Cruiseport Gloucester. My husband and I have eaten here twice this summer. Both times the service was friendly and the food was good and plentiful. They are running a special of $13.95 for a 1 1/4 pound steamed lobster with french fries and cole slaw. We were shocked at how large the fried calamari appetizer was. I really like fried calamari but am often disappointed. The Seaport Grille's calamari is the best I've tasted outside of Italy. Yesterday we tried the steamer appetizer. Once again, it was a large plate with more than plenty for two to share. However, they cook the steamers with garlic, onions and white wine. I think this would be a good dish for people who don't like a fish taste, but in my opinion, it hid the flavor of the steamers too much. We enjoy sitting on their outside deck with a view of the fishing boats. It had been 3 months since we stumbled onto this small restaurant and decided to try it again. I attended a bridal show at Cruiseport to check out this new venue. The renovations inside are lovely but the outside is anything but! First you pull in and directly to your right is an 18 wheeler storage place- so trucks in and out. Second parking for a wedding would be impossible: brides be sure that you have an alternate plan for more that 50-70 guests. The parking lot surrounds the venue- it is near the water but you cannot access the water unless you cut through a parking lot. They are newer- they will waive fee's and host a great wedding, I am sure of that- but.. if your looking for something "on" the water for pictures etc, try Danversport or even a location in Boston. (I will say: Vinwood was great!) read more

Yes, the venue is nice and has a great view of the waterfront, but would be better without those pretentious big-ass balustrades. It was after the noon rush and there were very few people there, yet everything took a while to get to the table and when it came -- especially the fried plates -- they were lukewarm. I think all they did was warm up some plates from lunch. The tempura shrimp in the appetizer was limply fried and was undercooked and greasy. And the fish and chips? Who came up with that batter - tasteless except for a slight kick of hot pepper. The steamed clams were good and a sizable portion but what can you do to steamed clams? I won't bore you with all of the details that did not impress me..just the important ONE...FOOD!!! Dined at Seaport Grill for a late lunch after the beach. It's a nice spot on the water, although the views are more industrial/cement than "water views". Have a great indoor/outdoor seating area, and nice bar. Large portions, generous wine pours and pretty good food! Do NOT miss the artichoke app - oh my, we were licking the plate! Seafood is decent, I had the cod and it was fair - other diners had fish tacos and lobster, both happy. Service is friendly, although a bit slow. My now husband and I planned to hold our wedding at Cruiseport Gloucester on March 21, 2020. Thanks to coronavirus, we had to cancel. However, I'm writing this review because the Cruiseport team, and Kristen Barrett especially, were so great both during the planning process and once we had to change our plans. Kristen gave us a tour of the venue and was so friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. We were thrilled when we were paired with her as our day-of coordinator. She had great ideas and a lot of experience both at Cruiseport and in wedding planning generally. She always gave us options but never pushed us to do anything in particular; when we decided to buy a bunch of small, grocery store cakes instead of doing a dessert bar or large cake, Kristen was thrilled and offered to set up them on a separate table for us. We loved that everything at Cruiseport was so transparent and flexible. Every once in a while communication would be delayed, but I think it's because the venue is just so popular that they can't keep up! I also wish the group tasting dates had fit into our schedule better (we're not local), but again, it's because they're so popular. The venue is so beautiful and Kristen was so great, we were truly heartbroken when we had to cancel our wedding. Kristen was incredibly supportive through the process, immediately offering us new dates if we wanted to reschedule and then working with us on a refund when we ultimately decided to revise our plans and do something smaller. I so wish we could have had Kristen with us on the day of, but you can! If I am ever in the market again for a wedding or other event venue, I will definitely be coming back to Cruiseport. read more

Horrible service and food!! Went here on the recommendation of a local business Owner, and had to wait 20 minutes for a table on a Sunday afternoon (they were not busy at all). Then after being seated, we waited nearly another 10 minutes for our server to take our drink order. Then she brought it and instead of iced tea brought a soda. Took another 10 minutes for the appetizer to come out - Calamari. When it did come out, we asked the waitress to bring an iced tea and without missing a beat said in a nasty voice: "Ask your server" and then walked off. The remoulade sauce for the Calamari was awful. We then waited another 40 minutes for our two entrees to arrive. In the meantime, we watched as four other tables, all of who were seated well after us, received their appetizers and entrees before we received our entree. Now, I ordered the Fish and chips and my friend ordered the Seaport Combo appetizer as a meal. My fish and chips were bland...I mean absolutely NO flavor. And her entree?...well, there were two large cocktail type shrimp, which she said were okay. The two "tempura" style battered shrimp were not anything near tempura style. The batter was heavy and cake-like, and on one shrimp the batter was completely RAW and inedible! The crab cake on her plate was not a crab cake in any sense. We cut it in half and then tore it apart looking for any semblance of what would appear to be a "lump" of crab. This so called Crab cake was the kind of crab you might get from a can...it had that texture and appearance of canned tuna fish. When I discussed my experience in Gloucester with co-workers back in Boston, their response was we could have told you not to go to Gloucester. One co-worker even suggested that since we are asian, that this was allegedly racially motivated, as Gloucester, the dump that it is, has a population mostly considered "white trash." If this is the case, it was evident. She explained that she and several other of her friends have experienced this type of behavior in Gloucester in the past and they are Italian, French, etc. I have eaten in fine dining establishments in every major city in this country and in several foreign countries, and you could get better seafood in the form of a McDonald's Filet-o-fish sandwich than the canned, frozen seafood they push as Fresh...simply because they sit on the waterfront. I guess racism and bigotry allegedly still exist in Gloucester, Mass!! If you aren't a WASP in appearance....good luck! Glad we didn't spend another penny in any other establishment we ventured into that day. Seriously!?! Forty minutes from appetizers to entree for Fish and Chips? Throw it in the fryer and be done with it! What a dump!! read more

My husband and I chose Cruiseport for our September 2012 wedding and we could not have happier with our decision. The venue is exquisite, with scores of enormous windows allowing in beautiful, natural light. A few crystal chandeliers hang from the ceiling, adding just the right amount of glitz. The cream colored walls and dark wood floors create a modern but equally elegant look for the space. Situated on the water, looking out at docked boats and the horizon was the perfect view on our very special day. Not only was the venue itself stunning, but every time we had the pleasure of visiting the facility or speaking with our wedding coordinator, Bridget, we were impressed by her knowledge, professionalism, sense of humor, and her ability to make it all look so easy. As a bride planning her own wedding (and who was often very overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of it all) I can't tell you how much I appreciated having Bridget in the driver's seat. Bridget has a wealth of experience that allows her to make recommendations that will ensure your event is visually fantastic, and her ability to manage all of the finer details ensures your event is executed with seamless precision. As we are not from the area we needed several recommendations for other vendors which she was very easily able to provide. All of her recommendations were excellent and these other vendors were also a pleasure to do business with. Bridget handled all surprises and difficult situations with grace, tact, and a determination to make sure that the job was done, and that it was done well. We chose to hold both our ceremony and reception at Cruiseport and both were spectacular. The timeline of our wedding was carried out without a single glitch and our guests always knew where they were supposed to be and were above all else, comfortable and well attended. The entire event planning staff at Cruiseport was phenomenal as well. My calls and emails were always answered in a timely manner; if Bridget wasn't available, someone else was able to provide me with an answer. Cruiseport works exclusively with Vinwood Catering, who did a superb job executing our delicious menu. They have countless options to choose from that allows each couple to customize their own menu to suit their tastes and the design of their event. Their wait staff was well trained, courteous and attentive. Our guests raved for weeks on end about the food and its presentation. As a bride who was also working with a budget, the customization that made it all look (and taste!) so amazingly expensive was actually quite affordable. A real dream come true for any couple! At the end of it all I am actually quite sad that I will no longer be speaking with Bridget or visiting the astonishingly beautiful Cruiseport. I could not give a stronger recommendation for this venue. If you want a picture perfect wedding that your guests will remember then you should look no further. We are blissfully happy in our new marriage, but I have Cruiseport to thank for a legendary wedding. read more

the service needs to improve. the food and view are worth the waits and confusion. the last time we were there our waitress disappeared and it wasn't very busy at all. we had to leave our table and have the hostess give us our bill and pay her. the 'hostess' has a lackadaisical attitude that carries through to the whole restaurant. i listened to a waitress try to talk a european tourist through how to eat a lobster and she wasn't very helpful [at times it was painful]. read more

My first impression of the Seapot Grille was a good one. I liked the bar and thought the drinks were well crafted although at eleven dollars a piece they were a little expensive considering this is a down to earth place in Gloucester MA. But when I got my food - things just went down hill quickly. The lobster roll was just horrible.The roll was not even buttered and grilled. The lobster meat was frozen and tasteless and without mayonnaise . The Lobster Roll meal tasted like bad institutional food. Anyone who raves about the lobster at Seaport Grill. I would doubt that have they ever eaten at the typical seafood place in Essex Massachusetts like Woodman's, Farham's or the Village restaurant where the seafood is fresh and prepared correctly. Also How do you price something at 120% over what you sell it for on a special night. On Saturday night,the lobster roll was 22 dollars. On Thursday night, "Lobster Roll Night" - it sells for 9.95. Notice how on their website under reviews they write "WINNER Best of North Shore - Lobster Roll" and they do not tell you the source of the award or the date on when it was received. The review looks totally made up to me. No way that lobster roll could ever win an award. read more

Seaport is a really cute restaurant with huge ceiling fans and an outdoor seating area. I walked in and felt like I should have been wearing a linen dress and a straw hat! It has a beach/ seaside feel. The service was great, everyone was so friendly. The food was average but the portions are huge and the prices cheap so we couldn't complain. Plus, Thursday nights are $10 lobster rolls, and although they are not as good as others I've had (the bun is dry and the meat is in little strips, not chunks), you can't complain because it's only 10 bucks! I had the pleasure of having my reception there and the ball room was nothing short of spectacular. Its spacious and just beautiful, it has like a vintage elegance in my opinion. I was so happy that my husbands mother suggested this place to me because the way my reception was handled left me literally jumping for joy. My wedding was on labor day and it was a pretty busy weekend for me so when i went to drop everything off for the tiny touches of decorations i wanted to add i was late. But they still let me set up a table so that they had an idea of what i wanted, and even with the decorations i wasn't sure of how i wanted them they said they would work something out. After the ceremony i walked into Cruiseport and it was like something out of a dream. It was exactly how I'd imagined it and i could not stop jumping from my glee. The staff at Cruiseport went above and beyond to make my wedding day picture perfect. And working with Bridget was just amazing and stress free. She made everything easy, listed everything we needed to discuss and she was just so friendly. She made it almost too easy to plan my wedding and i really appreciate that. She also suggested such an amazing DJ which also just made the night that much more amazing that i didn't want it to end. Cruiseport is just so fun to decorate and they know just where to put the tiniest of touches to make it even more magical. Also the catering that they have is phenomenal. I was a little worried because i was not able to go to the taste testing which they have so couples would know what they wanted on the menu so my husband and i blindly decided. They did not let us down. Guests were coming up to us saying how amazing the food was. And i of course had a little of everything. I wasn't able to finish my meal because i of course was up all night dancing, and they did the sweetest thing. at the end of the night as i walked by the head table in a little doggie bag marked bride was a plate of food that i had yet to try that was just so sweet of them. I would recommend Bridget and Cruiseport to anyone who would like a fairytale wedding because they aim to please.
