Hotel Review: The Beauport Hotel is absolutely breathtaking and such a wonderful place to stay north of Boston, especially if you love the ocean. The ocean facing rooms are luxurious and beautiful. It is definitely expensive but its truly beautiful and such special place. Wedding Venue Review: We saw so many venues at the start of planning and the Beauport was the only one that made a lasting impression. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to host our wedding there. It was so stunning, beautiful and perfect. We were truly proud to invite our friends and family to such a breathtaking place. The food was absolutely to die for, the waitstaff and hotel staff were so sweet, and our coordinator Jacey was attentive in the months leading up to our event. We did have some critiques. The communication with our coordinator was not 100% on the day of our wedding. There were small things here and there, but the biggest one was that a row was meant to be reserved for our bridesmaids, groomsmen and flower girl, but it was not so they ended up having to stand up with us. We discussed this many times during planning, and emphasized the importance of only having our man of honor and our best man standing up with us. There was no apology for this pretty considerable error until I brought it up myself a week after the wedding. The other critique was that my parents were in city facing rooms and had a very hard time sleeping due to excessive noise from the street. Other people in the room block had much better rooms which we felt should have been given to our parents. Other than that, everything was amazing. It was truly so special and we will never ever forget it. We couldn't be more grateful to have had the most perfect sunny day on the water in Gloucester, a place that has been special to my heart since I was a kid. Thank you Beauport Hotel! Did not stay here, but had lunch and was rather disappointed. I am originally from Gloucester and lived just a stone's throw from there. Ordered the baked haddock casserole and was very unhappy with the meal. It was anything but a casserole. It was cooked in a hot metal oven pan with a sparse amount of crumbs and had a "weird" spice on it. It was overpriced too. Not someplace I would choose for a lunch date. read more

Ok, right off the Beauport Hotel is high end. Although I've o my eaten here and never spent the night... but heard it's really nice. Dining and bar service on the patio overlooking Gloucester Harbor is amazing. Today we went just to have lunch at the bar with Sheri the excellent bartender. On an evening when we were on our way to a Miranda Russell concert at Gloucester Stage, four of us went to the 1606 Restaurant and Oyster Bar at the Beauport Hotel with a 5:00 PM reservation. We were delighted in every way. Our server, Katie, was quite attentive to the fact that we only had two hours for dining, and she made every minute count without ever having us feel rushed. We sat in a booth, elevated enough so that we could take advantage of the gorgeous view of the harbor and the famous "greased pole" that enhances the annual festival. The seafood tower that is the centerpiece of the restaurant is impressive in its freshness and variety. Although we did not partake of the tower options for diners, we are certain to try them on our inevitable return. We shared a bottle of Justin Cabernet, reasonably priced at $68. Our appetizer was the Crispy Calamari, and 1606 really understands how to fry! The breading was light and not at all oily, and the calamari were presented with some mildly hot peppers. Three of us had the Seared Sea Scallops, and our fourth guest had the 1606 Fish Fry. The scallops (4 very large fresh scallops/serving) were cooked to order and were accompanied with a variety of succulent sauces and potatoes. We each got the level of translucence we desired. The outlier with the Fish Fry, was delighted by the freshness of the fish and again the very light and crispy breading. Both the potato chips/fries and the cole slaw were excellent in this dish. The scallop entrée was $38, and the fish fry $32, and the meal was worth every penny. One of the marks of great service was that Katie never cleared a plate until the entire group had finished, never giving us an impression that the restaurant was trying to move us along or that our need to leave for the theatre was detracting from our pleasure. Just had a terrible experience with the Beauport Hotel in Gloucester. Made a reservation for 4 rooms today and needed to cancel them the same day. The reservation was for 1 month in the future. They had informed me that there would be a $35 charge for a cancelation of the reservation. When I cancelled, they charged me $35/room or $140 in total. What a terrible business practice, especially since I cancelled within 2 hours and the reservation is a month away. I expect much better customer service from a high end hotel. read more

We were cruising the Massachusetts coast on our way to a wedding and someone said "let's go to Gloucester" for lobster! So we did. Locals directed our five-some to the Beauport and also suggested to make a Rez. We did and were lucky. It was packed, but we were able to sit on the patio on a beautiful sunny day. Lobster rolls, salads, croquettes, fish sandwiches, local beer. All just great. We even got bombarded by hungry seagulls. Well we didn't but the table next door did. Excellent service and good conversation with the local servers. Come see for yourself, but make a Rez! read more

What is there not to love about this place? The outdoor deck gives you a view of the sunset overlooking the ocean. Food is delicious and the seafood is the absolute freshest. The first time I went, the server was very skillful, and created an experience I have grown to expect at very high end restaurants. The second time I went, the server was barely out of high school or lacked experience. Anytime I need a sure venue for a great dinner, I will return here. I took one star off because the first time I went, there was cross contamination with the oysters and cilantro, which I am allergic to. One small spec of Cilantro was enough to immediately make me sick and I had to leave. I did feel the cilantro and removed it from my mouth but because it was on an oyster, I had already slurped and bit into it. I don't really feel like it's anyone's fault but it happened. I didn't tell anyone because I felt it would ruin the night but it was noticeable when I was not eating or drinking any longer because I was sick and debating whether I should go to a hospital or not. Beautiful hotel on waters edge. You over look the famous pole walk/ run in the gloucester inlet. Our food was amazing. The lobster bisque should have been called lob. Chunk bisque! The lobster salad sandwich was hot and the perfect amount of butter. The atmosphere was crowded but you never felt you were on top of another table and you could easily have a conversation! To start, the service was poor: felt mostly ignored by the waitress, even though I was there with two other people (e.g. she took coffee orders from my brother and SIL, but didn't take mine until I spoke up, when I asked for the fisherman's breakfast, she didn't ask how I wanted my eggs made...until I spoke up etc.). Seating was moved to ballroom- didn't work. Felt like I was at a wedding not an intimate holiday event like in past. Service was terrible. Charm was gone. Such a shame. Last night we were a group of 5 at the rooftop venue. The seagulls were vicious and hovering around. One took a slice of pizza out of my friends mouth while she was eating. The pizza was $27.00. There was no apology from staff, nor was she offered a drink or dessert. Last year the gulls were also all over the main deck restaurant. It does not make a very pleasant experience when you are overpaying for the service. The hotel and restaurant are beautiful, but please figure out a way to deter the gulls. Also, we put a cc down to hold the payment, but when the waiter came back with the bill, he charged the card, and there was no itemized receipt. The bill was going to be paid in cash, but the server did not even give us that option. read more

The hotel is so charming and peaceful The hotel and the 1606 Restaurant is very well run. We had dinner and then breakfast the following morning at the 1606. Delicious. Chloe was our waitress both times and she was phenomenal. At breakfast the concierge (an attractive man in a green sweater with a crew cut in his late 50s...sorry...never caught his name!) heard it was my birthday. He came over with a decadent box of Beauport chocolates to celebrate the occasion.) wow! My wife and I made the 3 hour drive to try a new venture for a quiet night or R&R. The hotel was beautiful and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was above average and served a delicious meal. Unfortunately our enjoyable evening ended there, We were resigned to call the front desk and 12:30 AM and request security to attempt to quiet the loud music, excessively loud chatter the frequent slamming of the room door over and over. Security arrived about 12:45 and despite their banging on the door and announcing their arrival for over 10 minutes the occupants finally opened the door and took the warning. The music softened and the chatter subsided but the frequent door slamming continued for over an hour more. We barely slept and left for our return trip home exhausted and extremely disappointed. The front desk discounted our stay from $480 to $380 for our inconvenience. I sincerely appreciate the offer but it was certainly far short of a reasonable offering. We were advised that they usually try to keep wedding guest away from other guest rooms but due to a high volume of guest we were unlucky to have such an inconsiderate group adjacent to our guest room. We were further advised that the Beauport host up to 10 weddings per weekend so with this knowledge we will not be returning and will find it unlikely to recommend the Beauport to family and friends. very unfortunate! read more

The 1606 restaurant has beautiful views of the beach and outer Gloucester bay. You can see the fishing boats sail out to sea. The large sailboats for tourists are very picturesque too. JP 9/2/24 My husband and I recently had dinner at the Beauport restaurant. The scenery was beautiful on the deck over looking the ocean, but the food and service was disappointing. We first received popovers that were obviously over cooked and burnt on the outside. We sent them back and received another order, which were not overcooked. However, they were also not warm. The butter would not even melt when trying to spread. The same problem continued when we received our meals. Both my husbands and my dinner were both barely warm at best. It was difficult to find a waiter, even though the restaurant did not appear that busy. Overall, the experience was very disappointing and frustrating, not to mention pricey! it is obvious you're paying for the view and definitely not the food. We tried to speak to the restaurant manager before we left, but she could not be located. My husband called when we got home, and again, she cannot be located. Emily, the manager did finally return his call 45 minutes later. After hearing my husband's concerns, she politely thanked him, but seemed unfazed by his list of grievances with the service. She was unapologetic, and the conversation was unsatisfying, as was our entire experience with the Beauport restaurant. I felt compelled to write this review because this was not the first time that we've experienced subpar food from this establishment. It was a beautiful evening so we thought we would give it another try, but we were sadly greeted with more of the same mediocrity. Obviously, would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

Have been coming to the Beauport since it opened and always have a good time. Unfortunately I will not be going or recommending it anymore. Was incredibly disappointed with the staff, specifically the manager Emily. There was a mix up and my party was seated in a private room with a very high minimum. We were not supposed to be in this private room in the first and did not request it. Emily was extremely condescending and out right rude as my grandparents in their 90s patiently waited for our table. After begrudgingly sitting in the private room and being told that we would not have to pay the fee but would have to tip on the fee, our server was below average. The appetizers were really great and so were some of the entrees. The pork Milanese was a deep fried hockey puck I do not recommend. Additionally, a member in my party sent his food back over an allergy and the food was not comped from the bill. Overall just disappointed from this experience read more

Staggering of appetizers and meals did not occur. Would not be in a hurry to rush back. We had considered staying at the hotel, but after seeing it in person, I think the rooms are overpriced for location. Definitely a bustling area, not serene. I arranged a two day business meeting for my company at the Beauport in mid-December. Carina F. was absolutely fantastic as our event coordinator. A true professional in every way. Super responsive to any inquiries and accommodations, helpful with suggestions to make our two day event run seamlessly. Very accessible on-site as well. Additionally; we had a private dinner on-site and our server Chelsea was also fantastic. Very accommodating and also very helpful with suggestions for meal choices and wine pairings. This was our second company event at the Beauport. Thanks to these two hardworking professionals; the event was deemed a successful event. Nine of just returned from Beauport celebrating our tenth sibling's holiday. These annual events are very special to all of us. Previously we have celebrated at luxury rental homes all over New England. This occasion was special given six of the nine of us were celebrating milestone birthdays. We all live close to Boston and at our age, this time around we decided to stay local rather than having to drive long distances and plan meals we decided upon this luxury oceanfront hotel. And quite generously the pricing we were given was very reasonable. Now with this background we wanted to share with readers what a joyful time we all had. The hotel is spectacularly located, comfortable, and beautifully designed. Every member of the Beauport team was attentive and gracious with not an ounce of snideness. Our five Ocean front rooms were specious and beautifully appointed. We all loved sitting on the ocean front deck by the multiple fire pits. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. The seating in the interior large lounge was inviting and allowed gathering of our group to play games or just enjoy a cocktail. And we were given a tour around Gloucester and provided with transportation to an outside restaurant. How blessed we are to have enjoyed this special time together.
