Outstanding service. I received a Tumi carry on bag 10 years ago as a gift. Recently one of the 4 roller board wheels started to separate, which would "catch", making it difficult to walk with the bag. I first checked with 3rd party luggage repair shops. A highly rated shop did not repair Tumi (unable to get parts). I read that Tumi stores can do some repairs, and I called the local outlet store in Livermore (few miles away). Since this was an outlet store, I was prepared to be told that I need to contact a "standard" store. I talked to Dillon, who said he can take a look. When I got to the store, I first talked to a Tumi Sales associate who told me that the repair process is to 1) pay $25 (non-refundable), to ship the roller board to a central Tumi repair site. 2) After they review and pricing the repair, they would contact me. 3) I could OK the cost of the repair, or if I wanted the bag returned, it would cost another $25. Note - this official repair process & pricing seems reasonable, as a replacement bag is likely $700-$900. I mentioned I talked to Dillon about the repair and my bag was taken to the back. I was told that Dillon would take a look. After a few minutes, I was told to come back in about an hour. When I came back, wheel assembly was replaced. While the replacement is not exact (the bag is 10 years old), it was similar and you really can't tell. When I asked about the repair cost, they told me there was no cost. In an age of being "nickeled & dimed" for everything, this was a total surprise. I am not aware if this is "standard" policy, or if this store (and Dillon) was doing a favor. Nonetheless I cannot let such a positive experience go without mentioning. read more

Quality/Quantity - This was one of my favorite brands, but I feel it is dropping. Well, at least the outlet stores are dropping. This brand now makes specific (inferior) products just for their outlet locations... Which discourages me from investing. Starting my travels again and shopping for a compact travel backpack, see picture. Well, I will stay a loyal customer until I find a new and better brand to invest in. Atmosphere - Decent size location. Open 7 days a week from 10am to 8pm and on Sunday from 10am to 7pm. Plenty of mall parking; it helps that my wife knows all the good spots. Service - Last visit (review) service here was 6 stars. Today's service was just okay. Price - Prices are above average, but you are getting a quality product with a reputable name brand. Well, I feel the quality is slowly dropping for the outlet specific products. Tumi is my favorite brand, and this outlet store is in my favorite outlet mall. All the items in the store are high quality, and they offer better prices than in the department stores or their retail stores. The store was jam-packed when I was there. But the salespersons still care for the customers exceptionally well with detailed answers to your questions. They're friendly and polite. A lot of beautiful items are sold for eye-catching prices. It is tough not to bring a couple of them home. Lol! read more

The Pinnacle of Tumi Luggage at 50% OFF.....WooHoo! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Tumi at the "San Francisco Premium Outlets" which is at LIVERMORE, CA...NOT SF!...DUH!!!) Yep, I spent about $4k on several highest end & quality luxury Tumi luggage, but saved $4k. Who spends this much on luggage, besides me....well lots of people...but almost alway at full price at most B&M stores. Forget the Eek-Bay ...they may have the lux Tumi ...but they are used & still cost more than what I paid! The staff at this store were super-friendly & helpful... even before I arrived. I did call to check if they had the top end stuff & to decide whether it was worth a 240 mile drive... and from what they told me over the phone turned out to be very accurate. The staff was great when I arrived & pulled out all of the top end stuff that they had and kept saying that they called this stuff the "Rolls-Royce" of Tumi. Forget the Alpha series, they still had some of the far better Arrive & Astor series which many retailed from $1,200 to $1,500 a piece & are still available either sporadically at some outlets or on- "SALE" on the Tumi website as of today anyway....but for only a few hundred off. Ultimately, Even though the Arrive & Astor series did not exactly match in color the deep dark blue of the Arrive Camden (Long Trip -4 wheels check-in) went well with the Arrive Black Heathrows (Carry on- 2 wheel), and with the Dark Grey Astor Rutherfords (Medium Trip-4 wheel). All pieces where expandable, solidly built, felt as sturdy as hell, had lots of pockets/zippers, and all sorts of nice features that are only found in the high end. These pieces harken back to the days when much of the Tumi line was made hefty & solidly....and do weight alot by themselves. Like 16-17 lbs, even empty.... so yes, these are not for the budget traveler who is going to be OCD about weight, but they will be for people who value great protection for their/your contents (despite the rigors of travel) & the longevity of these pieces...which can exceed a decade, if not abused too much. Since we already had the trunk filled with some of our old Tumi luggage, the staff generously helped us wheel the various items out to our car & we all figured out how to stuff one into another, so that all could just barely fit into the car. That is what I call great service...and far better than most retail Tumi stores. One of Tumi's kind staff notice that the great Napa Leather Suitcase that I had wheeled into the store had a problem with the full extension of the handle. I had this fantastic case for several years & did not think that they would offer to fix it....let alone for free! ....but that is what they did. Unfortunately, that specific handle was not in stock, so they needed just $25 from me to ship it to me after the free fix. It also turns out that all of the items that I bought ....as well as... all my old ones, had a LIFETIME WARRANTY on both the Handles & the Wheels....wow...no wonder I like Tumi. I will still likely use my still beautiful glove all leather Napa set for local travel via the protection of my car, and now use the ballistic nylon (with leather trim) for air. I had been using my heavy duty aluminum Halliburton Luggage for a few flights to NYC, but the morons have banged them around so much, I do not want to ruin them forever. Hopefully the heavy duty Tumis will do better with the Gorillas that now handle luggage. With the current ridiculous prices for checked in luggage that goes above 50lbs or so, I see the urge for people to get these light weight luggage that are about as sturdy as a plastic seashell. Well that is all fine & good until it breaks apart and you lose hundreds to thousands on all the great stuff that was in them....especially if you bought precious art glass in Prague, for example. If you travel rarely & can do with light cheap crappy luggage, clothes, & such....and need to be on a fixed budget...well sure, get the bargain stuff at a discount store. If you have the means to travel well, have expensive clothes, like to shop for classy souvenirs, & favor first class, you are a fool to try to go cheap on luggage, since it makes no sense what-so-ever. You can be Pennywise & Dollar foolish... if not, then check out the higher end stuff at this great outlet store. BTW- This Outlet complex is filled with shopping manics, so just forget fighting for a spot with all the rest & do the Valet parking....it makes shopping here so much less stressful & is only $8. It is also right near the Tumi store.... Cool! read more

I wanted a new International carry on...and it had to be ultra lightweight. I have shopped around, and found prices pretty steep...but have wanted to check out the Tumi Outlet store. BF and I were delighted with the cases...and they had additional mark downs today... Tracy was friendly, and helpful. Tumi Outlet is not standard Tumi, but it comes with a pretty impressive pedigree, and great warranty. Thanks dear for the early birthday gift!! She is Purple with a subtitle tiny basket weave pattern. I will be able to spot her from quite a distance. I really love the way she moves! Of course she will weight more fully loaded, but she is a scant 3.8# I plan on many happy miles together. read more

I've bought luggage here before and was very satisfied with the staff. This time not so much. I'm looking for a large bag for check in. So we walk in and was not greeted. No, "Can I help you?" Nothing. So I pull a few large bags and ask for prices. Though it felt like I was bothering the gentleman that worked there he gave me the price. One of the bags was 50 percent off but he said it was 40 percent off even though it was in the 50 percent off area. I don't know if he thought that we weren't gonna buy anything, I don't know. But I can afford to buy a bag at regular price. So just because of this experience, I'm taking my business to another TUMI outlet store. I believe I am a really nice/friendly/approachable person in general and I hardly ever write poor reviews on Yelp, however, this is an exception. . . . Perhaps there have been a change of staff since I last went here in 2013. I came back here yesterday to look for a new luggage to use for my trip to Europe next year and came across the rudest sales lady I have ever met. Maybe it was because I looked like a kid (yes, I don't wear 3 layers of make-up like some ladies do, I just got a facial earlier that day, and yes, I take care of my skin so I don't look aged into my mid-30's even though I'm only 25)? Orrrr maybe because I didn't look sufficient enough to buy a Tumi luggage? (Sorry I didn't use my LV bag that day, I like to dress for comfort, especially since I drove all the way here from Santa Clara - and I guess my Rag & Bone jeans or my Michele watch didn't meet your standards.) But whatever it was, this sales lady didn't want anything to do with me. How it all started was when I walked in the store, browsed around for a 4 wheel luggage and noticed this beautiful 4 wheel luggage, something similar to the Tegra-Lite. I noticed certain luggage's had an additional sale so I wanted to ask the sales lady who was standing right next to me (at the time briefly assisting another customer). I waited...waited...waited.... gave her kind eye contact to let her know I needed assistance - no response, no gesture back, no nothing. This gave me the impression that "hmm maybe she's really trying to hustle this lady so I guess I'll look around for another sales person..." Turned around only to see this young sales lady looking down at what I believe was her cell phone and the other guy standing and looking out the store window. So I waited some more. 3 whole minutes passed...no service ...and finally the lady's customer debriefed the sale's lady so she can look at other luggage's, this was my chance to ask... "Hi there, just a quick question, is this luggage on sale by any chance?" (as it was placed near the shelf with a red sale sign hovering over it) Sales lady: "No. It's not on sale." However, the tone of her voice sounded like she didn't even want to bother to assist me any further. HELLO LADY your other customer already debriefed you, and now it's my turn?! After she had stated the luggage was not on sale in the most curt attitude I have ever heard from a sale's lady, she then walked away to chase down the other lady who she had initially assisted. This REALLY grinded my gears. You say this luggage isn't on sale..so suggest other luggage's that are on sale or similar to it's nature? She did NOT bother! So I just said "Thanks.." turned and walked directly to the door. Funny thing is, this sale's lady had lost 2 potential customers as the lady she had assisted before me had also left the store around the same time I did. She obviously didn't want to buy anything either. If there's something I learned in the 7 years I worked in retail (no longer do).. NEVER and I mean NEVERRRR judge a book by its cover. This lady obviously did judge, and as a result of her actions, I highly doubt i'll even bother to come back here!! I'd rather buy my Tumi luggage full price elsewhere than deal with a lady as rude as that. We are your customer. I wasn't a mean bitch to you-just simply asked a question and you responded in the rudest manner. Caution: Be careful if you look like some young person, don't dress or look wealthy, whatever it is.. unless you know exactly what you want in this store, don't bother expecting the customer service that in any way, exceeds your expectations... at LEAST from this rude old lady (with platinum blonde hair). Lesson learned: In the event I ever bother to come back here, i'll make sure to dress/look appropriate. Maybe I'll receive better customer service. I hope the management is reading this because although I wouldn't go as far as state that I felt discriminated against, I would say that the employee's only cater to those who "look" wealthy enough to make a purchase. read more

This morning, December 14 at about 11 am, I went into this store to look for some Christmas gifts. The sales lady was busy restocking the merchandise when a suitcase rolled off the other side of the shelf as she was putting some suitcases on the other side. I snickered a bit to make light of the situation and the sales lady just went ballistic saying that it's not funny at all. She went all out with the tirade - like i don't know how hard it is to work in retail, etc. I may not work in retail but I know that PATIENCE is a virtue. I didn't mean anything bad and just wanted to cheer her up but she would not have it. I know she must have been having a bad day but to get it out on a customer is just a big no-no! I walked out without saying anything to avoid the issue getting bigger but TUMI, you need to talk to your staff about politeness and cheerfulness. There's no place in retail for a grumpy staff member especially at this time of year. Boo! read more

I have shopped at this store on a few occasions and purchased travel items. Those experiences were fine. Unfortunately on stopping in today the guy at the front wanted me to check my two bags at the register. After noticing that the other two customers were carrying theirs and shopping freely without him asking them to check theirs, it was pretty obvious that I was just being racially profiled. (The other 2 customers were not Black.). I called him on it. He denied it. I talked to the manager to express my displeasure. And of course she denied it too. This to the second time I've been racially profiled at this mall and asked to check my bags at the register while non-black customers shopped freely. That first incident happened last year at Diesel. I sent a letter to Diesel corporate for that incident. And needless to say I didn't receive any response back from them. But the bottom line is that Tumi now joins Diesel as stores and brands that will no longer be getting any of my hard earned money. I know it'd be easier to just ignore these incidents and move on. But I hope others with similar experiences take the time and start reporting them too on these rating forums. And then individuals can use this information to decide for themselves if these businesses deserve their patronage. read more

After 20 years and 1.5 million air miles, I retired my Briggs & Riley for a Tumi. Since ... In 4 years, I have put about 600,000 air miles on the Tumi and it is about ready to die. At the onset of a 2 week trip in Peru, the handle broke off. Imagine running through airports without the handle! Super annoying. Not only because my $700 bag broke but also because NO Tumi stores were able to assist, even with a temporary fix. Funny thing, I was stopped several times by others who shared their nightmares with the Tumi product. I hope they fix my bag. If not -- I will definitely go back to B&R! read more

Antoinette is a wonderful salesperson. I really enjoyed interacting with her. She was very friendly and super attentive. I asked for 24-25" hardside suitcases. They only had 26" available (short trip). She showed me the two styles they had which were marked down. I ended up purchasing two navy blue V3 cases at 50% off which was a steal considering the fact that Tumi retail stores were having a semi-annual sale [however most stuff was 20% off and neon hot pink or lime green]. All the sales people at this Tumi are very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the different products. The manager Bart went out of his way to make sure that I was completely happy with a Tumi duffel bag that I purchased. I ended up exchanging it for a tote instead but nonetheless, he went out of his way to ensure that I was a very satisfied customer. I will certainly be back. Their sales are awesome! read more

I travel constantly. i have bought every major brand luggage and none of them can outlast a Tumi. The service at the Tumi stores is nice and they are always willing to help out with any issue I may have. My large Tumi luggage is now 7 years old and still working well. It maybe more in cost than another brand but it you look at the life span it cost considerably less. read more
