I've been going to this place, Tu Nails, for pedicures in Blaine for years. Always a good experience. Prices have been raised significantly through the years. I used to go several times a year for a pedicure. With the very high pedicure prices now, I only go when I'm getting ready to leave on a vacation, once a year. What brings me to writing this review, twice now, I've been charged extra for having my toes polished with more than just one color. I like to color my second toe on each foot a different color. It's been the same lady each time , charging me extra. Never, had any of the other ladies , in all my years, charged me extra for polishing my toes with more than one color. Is it more costly to polish one toe with another polish? Is it that much more work ? Is it more time consuming? Is it that bothersome? I wanted to ask for my tip back, to cover for the extra charge. How about a bottle of water or a can of pop to cover that extra charge? (They never offer a bottle of water or can of pop either!) From now on, if I see that I have that same lady, that feels the need to charge extra for two toes to be polished a different color, I will ask for someone else, or just leave. read more

My daughter got her nails done with her cousin - they destroyed her cuticles by grinding them down so bad they bled for 3 days. Completely overcharged her for what was provided, any other salon I checked into said she was overcharged. They did not even listen to her when she said what she wanted & made them too long & shaping was uneven. I had to pay another salon to fix what they did. read more

My first time getting my pedicure, the lady was so sweet! I wish I had caught her name but didn't, sadly. This spot has been my go-to ever since. I only get my pedicures done at nail shops, but coming here was life changing. They're very sweet and kind, they work efficiently, I always come in the same day I call for an appointment, and on top of everything that surprises me the most, they message your arms and shoulders which is crazy!!! I love this place, they don't charge extra for the arm message since it comes with the pedicure! The prices of the pedicure are the same as any other nail shops. But definitely recommend going here for pedicures! And they have my significant other sitting next to me even though they aren't getting their pedicure done. Usually I have a good/decent experience at Tu Nails but, this time was different. Mike is always great and he got me in 20 minutes before I came in. I had come in just for an acrylic red tips. The guy that did my nails was nice but he was not very gentle he sawed off my cuticle beds and there was blood gushing out of my fingers. I think he noticed that I was in pain but still continued to put acetone on my wounds as a part of the process. And he simply just wiped the blood away. (Which was extremely painful). It on on my faulty though that I didn't speak up but I didn't see how bad the cuts on my nails beds were until he was finished. Overall, I'd say a very painful experience although my nails look good. It's just I would say not worth the pain and ALL the blood. read more

I came here to get my toes done and we'll the colors looks pretty was good, I have an ingrown and when I come here they mess with it and pull it out, I have never had it messed woth enough to be super bad it's usually just some discomfort (even tho they shouldn't even be messing with it ) well yesterday when I got my toes done he messed with it enough that now this moring I woke up woth not being able to put pressure on it, it was red, swollen and pussing. I enjoy going to TuNails Salon. The people are always friendly, I'm greeted as soon as I walk in the door. When you want art work on your nails I've always been very happy with the designs. If you want a design that you found online they do the best to copy it. My daughter and granddaughters also enjoy TuNails Salon. read more

I love getting my nails done here! For starters, the people are so friendly and accommodating. I have chipped and broken my nails and I come here and they fix it no problem, no question asked. Additionally - I really like the dark, cool interior and the separate rooms for manicures and pedicures. Their prices are fair and they do a great job. They get busy - call ahead! Let's start off with I'm disappointed... I've been to TU Nails a few times and it's always been pretty hit or miss. BUT, my pedicure today was horrendous... as you can see in the photos ALL of my nails are uneven, the cuticles are literally just painted over, and the entire process was rushed. I picked the cheapest of the pedicures ($38) and upgraded to gel (additional $15). Not worth it. $53 for a crappy pedicure that I should have just done myself at this point. I mean look at how bad they look! At least no one will be up close and personal with my toes. This was my last time in. I'd given this salon the benefit of the doubt by the occasional positive experience I've had here, but the prices are far too high for the far too low quality. No consistency at all. Was very rushed the lady that did my nails didn't say 2 words to me the entire time. Got a gel manicure and there was excess polish everywhere. Waited for 15 minutes for someone to come back and paint my nails after they had prepped them and ended up being a completely different person. Very unorganized and didn't seam very clean. After my experience here, I have decided that I will no longer be getting pedicures. This was my second visit - the first was fine as much as I can recall (I went back, right?) but this time was not great. First, I don't like how cramped the pedicure room is. Its hard to get in/out of the chairs and find room for your coat/purse, etc. The woman working on me looked like she was being forced to be there - not very friendly. She started in and right away she cut my toe while cutting my toenail. After I told her I just wanted the basic pedicure (instead of one of the upgraded types) she put exactly zero time or effort in to pumicing my feet and she gouged my toenails and cut them so short it hurt to walk for a day afterwards. Aside from the massage chair, the whole experience was so terrible. I won't be back to this location and will reconsider dropping $30+ in the future and instead do my own nails. (I had to go home and pumice my feet again anyway - why bother). read more

Went in for manicure. The place was busy and dusty. The lady who took care of me did my nails quick. She Did the clear coat and before it even got the chance to dry she told me I needed to pay before she can finish. Which I thought was weird because my nails weren't even dried yet. So I dug out my wallet and paid her with tip!!! It smudged the clear coat. She painted over that and called it a day. I have been coming to Tu Nails for a year now and started getting my nails done by Ivy about 6 months ago. I cannot speak highly enough about her. Ivy is efficient and quick but never does it feel rushed. She is so kind and genuine that you feel super comfortable in the chair, like seeing a friend. As if all of this wasn't enough, she is so precise and exact with her craft. She is talented and my nails always look perfect, seriously perfect. The Good: I've been coming to TU Nails for a couple years now, they are by far the best nail salon in the twin cities (I've tried several). Mike, the owner, is amazing and is present during the days. They always have sufficient staff, and a variety of colors. The girls really take their time to ensure you have a relaxing experience on both manicures and pedicures The Bad: Mike is currently out of town, and he's left another gal in charge of the salon. I went into the salon on 9/23 for a final pregnancy mani/pedi. I was scheduled to be induced the next day on 9/24. The Ugly: Fast forward three weeks and I know have a full blown cellulitis and MRSA infection in my toe where my nailbed was nicked during my pedicure. I've been to urgent care twice, prescribed two antibiotics which have interfered with my breastfeeding baby and has given her major diarrhea. She's only 3 weeks old, I'm now trying to find a supplement formula that temporarily works, trying to pump to keep up my supply, and taking antibiotics 3 times a day for my painful toe. The really ugly: I called TU Nails to inform them of this, the manager asks me to come in so she can "see my toe". I live 45 minutes away in St Paul and told her I already was seen by the doctor and it was confirmed foot infection due to pedicure. She took my info and said she would call Mike and call me back. I never received a call back. Just wanted to give a fair warning, I would wait until Mike comes back to get your mani/pedi. read more

Absolutely love it here. The best nail salon in the area. Both the manager (Mike is full of energy he's makes sure you're good.) and the techs are so Pleasent and they want you to be satisfied. I personally recommend Angie and Anna. Their the only two that have done my gel manicures and pedicures and they've been great. If you have lots of cuticle growth like me go with Angie, she seems to be better at removing them. I've tried many salons in the area this location is the best. Not only is the service wonderful the atmosphere is relaxing and welcoming. I was actually able to fall asleep during my pedicure Cons: I wish they had more options for OPI polish options. I do not recommend waxing here though, they take you to the back and have you sit on a chair for an underarm wax. It's sketchy. The only thing their missing is mimosas! read more

Peppermint Pedicure was pretty bomb! Their massage chairs are legit, they don't pummel you around and actually deliver a decent relaxing massage. The massage included with the pedicure is great. It was just what my pregnant sore calves needed. Actually, I will go back every month just for the massage, the pedi is a bonus! The pedi room is a happening spot. Every chair was in use when I was there. But somehow, it was still relaxing, the staff doesn't talk too much, but just enough. They've got Bravo on the flat screen TV if you don't feel like burying your nose in your phone, iPad or a magazine. When you're done, there's Which Which, Leann Chin and Chili's in the same complex. If you're paying with plastic, make sure to tell them you'd like to add a tip. If not, they'll just run your card for the cost of services. read more

I'm a complete nail snob, I want things my way and not be told what I should do or pressured about getting other things. We had a little rough patch at the beginning because they didn't understand what I wanted, we finally got to understanding each other and things went smoothly. I brought two other friends and their nails turned out amazing, my friends nails looked better than they ever have from any other shop! They are lively and so fun at this shop, they offer mimosas too! My nails are exactly what I wanted and so were my friends! Best part, they were accommodating to my 5 year old! Went to TU Nails for the first time and it was the best experience I've ever had at a nail salon. The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and calming. The staff welcomed me promptly and I only had a ten minute wait max before they got me in. I wanted three different nail colors and some simple nail art and Joy did a marvelous job with it all. There is a man, I assume the owner based on other reviews, and everything people have said about him is true. He came over to make sure we had figured out what I had wanted and even came to see my nails when they were all done. There was another lady next to me and I watched as she got her nails done. They were absolutely amazing so I think all the staff really knows what they are doing and do it well. Got a pedicure done here with a friend. We ended getting the peppermint set which smelled so good a felt relaxing. It ended up being $38 per person w/out tip but remember that CASH IS KEY at this place. Didn't realize that till after I got done with my pedicure. They always love cash compared to card. Which I never understand why. We went here because this was one of the closest places to where we were that had pretty good ratings. The interior is really nice and looked clean. I especially liked a how they had sectioned things off. They had a separate area for pedicures and another separate area for manicures. Workers are nice and I apparently met Mike (the owner). He was nice and talked with his customers. When he left he made sure that everyone was ok, needed anything else before he left, and said goodbye. Only thing I'd say is that I wished that the area for pedicures were a little more spaced out. You're kinda just smushed right next to other people. Also wished that the nail dryer area was more spaced out or bigger. It was a bit crowded and was hard for me to get out. I would say to give this place a try though! read more
