Tsaocaa in Chinatown is a bright and spacious spot with plenty of seating. You can order at the kiosk or go to the cashier whichever is convenient We got the Jasmine tea with amber boba and the Rose oolong tea with amber boba. Both had a strong and fresh tea flavor & the amber boba was soo chewy and soft. I asked for less sugar on the Jasmine tea & it ended up with no sweetness at all so keep in mind that the sugar levels here might be different. Drinks were about $13 total. They also offer snacks and egg waffles. Great boba place in Chinatown!!!

    Avocado smoothie & Lychee Mojito

This is my second time coming and it's rare to find a boba spot to hang out in. Mango pomelo smoothie - highly recommend their mango pomelo smoothie! It's so creamy and it's not watered down. I also love the amount of pomelo they have. Avocado smoothie - my friend asked for it with no sugar and she was surprised it still tasted very good. It was creamy and filling. Lychee mojito - it was very refreshing but at 50% it was still pretty sweet. I would recommend 25%.

The osmanthus milk tea is pretty standard. I didn't realize that it came with pearls so I also added grass jelly. The shop wasn't busy for a Saturday afternoon but the wait was quite long as there was only one worker making all the drinks. We ordered using a kiosk. There are a couple of tables with seating.

I was out on a whim, looking for a Boba spot, and I found this place in Chinatown. I was really satisfied. this drink really is unique, and I feel like it will be my go to every time I visit it was a quick experience, and I honestly would come back again.

    coconut mango slush

honestly, thoroughly enjoyed their coconut mango slush. it's such a light base with their mangoes to highlight the experience. the slush texture is quite nice as well. as someone with lactose intolerance, this seems like a great option. would come here again for their drinks and hope to try more.

    Durian mango

They have many options there. I like that they have many fruit drink options. I tried the durian mango as it's not too common to see. The durian flavor is mild. They put real mango chunks at the bottom of the drink. I like that. And for some reason, I keep thinking the drink has strong jasmine tea flavor, more than the durian or mango flavor.

We wanted to try a new boba shop so we went downstairs to try Tsaocaa. Located on Tyler street in Boston's Chinatown. They have a variety of drinks to choose from. You can order at the counter or from the tablet. They also have fruit smoothies. Drinks weren't too sweet and prices were reasonable. Very nice employees who made our drinks.

Two purple potato milk tea drinks on the bar at Tsaō Cha

Walking back to the T from a medical appointment, we stopped in here to grab some tea, as it is my companion's goal to try all of the tea places in the area. I have had bubble tea in many cities in the US and abroad and this was the first time I've encountered a gritty texture. I was excited to grab the purple sweet potato drink because this is one of my favorite flavors and often not available. The boba themselves were well-prepared, which I very much appreciated. As other have mentioned, if you're looking for an Instagrammable drink, this is definitely a good spot for you. They seemed to spend a lot of time making sure the potato puree was applied artfully to the inside of the cup and none on doing more than dumping a lump of that same puree at the bottom of the cup, which has not been my experience with this type of drink anywhere else. I can't speak for any of the other places nearby but please do not judge purple potato milk tea by what is available here.

I've been here every weekend since I moved to Boston -- even sometimes multiple days in a row (I know it's kinda crazy, but I think they're one of the top spots in Boston Chinatown for sure if you're looking for boba). Their new drinks (mango milk, matcha, etc.) are amazing -- standouts are the mango milk tea and the purple potato milk tea. Still not 100% sure what purple potato is/ what's in the drink, but the color is amazing and it isn't too sweet. It has a little chewy texture to it, like sweet rice?? Two drinks I would not recommend are the brown sugar milk tea and strawberry yogurt. I wouldn't recommend the brown sugar milk tea as you don't get that intense brown sugar flavor/ milk-flavor is a bit too intense. The strawberry yogurt drink is a bit sour and feels overwhelming for a boba drink imo. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for some quality bubble tea with good actual tea.

    Passionfruit green tea

The store front was a little easy to miss it is in a basement so make sure you read the sign on the top storefront and take the stairs down. We always try boba tea whenever we visit a Chinatown and I was glad we did since TSAOCAA in NY is so our of my way. I got the passionfruit lime green tea. There is real lime in the tea and passionfruit seeds on the bottom of the cup. The seeds can be annoying as you bite on them and gives a crush sound. I enjoyed the sourness of the whole drink. My kids didn't not like it as it is too sour so maybe not a kid's choice. They got the brown sugar and strawberry boba which they LOVE. I ordered all the drink 50% sweeten and was perfect. I love the options of customizing the sweetest as sometimes most boba tea tend to run more sweet. I took away a star cause of the how the in store of the store is presented. Do understand that it is covid time and tables are chairs are put away, but a little more work can be done to make it cuter and nicer on the deco part. Just looks too trashy in my opinion.

    Guava green tea w/ boba
    Victoria C.

Another boba place in Chinatown is between Tiger Sugar and Tea Do. You walk down the stairs and enter a fairly modern-looking cafe. I ordered a guava green tea with boba and was pleasantly surprised with myself. I wanted something fruity, so decided on guava since most places generally don't offer it. The tea flavor stands out and there are actual chunks of guava that added a different texture as you are drinking. There was a good sweetness level that wasn't overly sweet and the boba added was soft and chewy. I will definitely be returning to try out their other drinks!

One of the best grapefruit Slush in the area. I usually do half sugar.
    Jonny P.

I have been in this place a few times and I like their grapefruit slush. Strangly enough, every time i came here, it is a different staff member. Most of the time, they are decent. As of today, I decided to drop in to get my grapefruit slush as usual, I encountered a little strange employee. I walked in and waited at the counter because I can see she was busy. Before I knew it, she looked at me and said "yes?" So I give her my order "A large grapefruit slush with half sugar, please." She said,"Give me a sec, I'm busy..." me "umm... you told me yes that is why I gave you my order..." her "........" in my mind "umm.... ok." Anyway I decided to stay here to work on something on my Mac that I later find out there is NO WIFI.... I mean it's a basic equipment for customer in cafes or bubble tea shop now a days... No wonder there are usually no ppl sitting around the store... there are music in the store but it is usually quiet. Despite they have one of best grapefruit slush in the area, and I love it. The no wifi sucks and the employees... well it's OK. 3 stars for the grape fruit slush, -1 star for no wifi and neutral for the staff because sometimes it takes a while for them to make. And sometimes it is OK. Last not least, train the employees to smile more would help boosting a star to make the customers' day.

Tsaocaa is amazing!! The drinks here are super delicious and the design of the cup is very aesthetic and cute. I love their logo haha. The drink prices range from $4.50-7.00. There cafe itself it's my too much but there are a couple tables. I saw a ton of flies on the walls, so there definitely can be some improvements in terms of cleanliness. Besides that, the workers were very nice and the drinks were made within 10 minutes! Tsaocaa is located in Boston's chinatown and is easily accessible by the T! Check Tsaocaa out if you're in the Boston area! Overall rating: 7.5/10

Portuguese Egg Tart葡撻: The shop keeps the egg tarts in a warming box, which is very thoughtful. I've always preferred the cookie crust of old-fashioned Hongkongese egg tarts; they don't crumble or feel sticky in your throat. The custard filling looked a bit overbaked on the surface, but it was still smooth and creamy inside. The milk and egg flavors were qualified, and it was not too sweet. While not particularly amazing, it definitely deserved 4 stars, especially for a Cantonese person like me who hasn't had egg tarts in a long time. Hongkongese Egg Tart蛋撻: The crust is the same as the Portuguese egg tart, but the custard filling seems a bit more diluted, with a lighter milk flavor and a stronger egg flavor. People who aren't used to it might find it a bit eggy. I still prefer the former. Custard Bread奶黃包: Recommended by the owner, and it was definitely the best thing there! I ate it the next morning, but the bread was still soft, and the crust wasn't dry. The custard filling was generous, sweet, creamy, moist, and had a slightly grainy texture. Sausage Bread腸仔包: The seasoning was quite interesting, with a hint of wasabi (?). However, the sausage itself was just average, with a slightly starchy texture. Breads generally cost $2-4 each, and here four items were only $8+, enough to last me all day Important Reminder: Cash only for orders of $10 or less.

Came to Boston for a work trip and really wanted to eat something light and healthier. I loved it…read moreso much I came back twice! I came during lunchtime on a Monday. It was adequately busy but still had seats open. The lunch menu is very affordable! If you can, I'd highly recommend going for lunch instead of dinner. Service was really quick! Received my meal in like 5-7 mins after ordering. Fish was super fresh and I really liked the different textures in the Hoseki Don. I also added in negitoro. They gave me a big clump of it! The second time I went back, I ordered take out so I could eat it at the airport for dinner. I ordered the Sake Maguro Hamachi don, added ikura and negitoro. Again, so impressed with the quality of the fish and the size of it. They didn't skimp out and really enjoyed the thickness of the sashimi despite it only being 3 pieces. It was a very satiating bowl. Cant wait to come back next time again!
