They were able to take me without a wait for both inspection and tire rotation. I asked a question about tire balancing, and Michael took me over to the machine and explained each step in the process -- then taught me about brakes and rotors, and how to tell whether I need new brake pads (I didn't). I also had what I thought was a scratch in the paint from an incident earlier in the summer (hadn't looked too closely). I didn't mention it, but Michael noticed, cleaned it, and my bumper was back to perfect condition. I brought my car in for a basic oil change (it's not my usual place, but I was in a pinch). This was my experience: 1. When they called to tell me my car was ready I was told that I urgently needed new brakes. They wanted to do everything and pitched me on pads, rotors, etc., quoting me $800+. I knew when my brakes had been done last and it was pretty recent, so I declined. A few days later my regular mechanic confirmed that my brakes were fine. 2. After my oil change I ran into issues where something was burning/smoking under my hood. It turned out to be an issue with my oil filter. They had dented/cracked my oil filter (the marks from the removal tool were obvious) and put it back in my car... which created a leaky and dangerous mess. Not fun. I'm sure some people have had great experiences here and it seemed convenient that I was able to come in right away, but I cannot recommend bringing your car here. read more

This place is much more than a gas station, they're also your friendly neighborhood mechanics. I wanted a mechanic for my 1999 Subaru Impreza, walking distance from my home in Winter Hill. I had been buying gas from these guys, and saw they had great reviews for repairs. With Michael and his crew as my mechanics, I don't have to rush to buy a new car. They always fix my car quickly and efficiently. Some problems they solve simply, like when I smelled burning under the hood and they found that an animal had built a nest, which they cleaned out. They've replaced several flat tires quickly, even when I showed up unannounced with my car on a tow truck. When I had a problem they couldn't fix with my flashers draining the battery, they sent me to someone who could, quickly and at a fair price. Each of the 4 guys is nicer and helpful than the next, from Michael the owner and his brother George to Keenan and Joe, the other mechanics. They explain what's wrong and the repair options, always with a smile. If there are no other cars in the shop, I often see all 4 of them working on my car. I think it's because they like their work and like helping people--and would rather help each other so customers can get out quickly, instead of standing around doing nothing. I'm always amazed when they call after only a few hours to say my car is ready. Other reviews talk about them being rude: you have to remember that these guys deal with messy, complex problems all day. Yeah, they speak another language, big deal. Keenan does often make jokes, especially about how expensive it will be--but it's a joke, chill out. One time he looked at my car, came back and said, "I'll tell you in my language." I said, "That can't be good," and he laughed, then fixed my car quickly and for a fair price. (I never found out what he said.) Very nice to have such friendly, efficient, honesty mechanics in the neighborhood. Highly recommend. read more

One day I needed some prompt service, and Trum Field Sunoco was one of the closest places to try. I called ahead on a snowy day to see if they had a tire in stock that fit my car because the treads of my tire had been worn out and I was worried about slipping and sliding as I was about go to on a long road trip. The guy there answered the phone right away, informed me that they had a tire in stock and could fit it right away. Upon arrival, he worked on my car immediately and had me out in 25 minutes. He was super friendly and explained to me what he was doing so that I could change my own tire in the future if I needed to. Fair price, too! Tried to rip me off for $500! Went in for a new inspection sticker and to install new wheels which were already attache to tires. Bought a new set of wheels with tires from Tirerack.com and simply needed the old wheels taken off and the new ones put on. When i asked how much it would cost the attendant told me $600. He must've thought I was some kind of sucker! I was so insulted that I couldn't help to keep from showing the anger in my face. I asked, "why would it cost so much, you simply have to take the wheels off and put the new ones on! The tires are already balanced..." He tells me "because its snowing outside. $200 for inspection and $100 per wheel!" I contained from yelling at him and just started walking away when finally he says "Just kidding, it'll be $35 for inspection and $10 each wheel". State inspection is set to $35 and it is illegal to charge more. These people must be ripping off people every single day! These people should be shut down! Please let me know if anyone has any advice for filing an official complaint! read more

I've been here twice now, and both times have found the person working behind the counter to be really rude. The first time I went in, it was for an insurance inspection and a state inspection for my car. (I just moved it up here from Virginia.) When I asked about having the insurance inspection done, the man behind the counter said that I had to come back later in the day, and that I was too early to request those services. The place was definitely open, there was nobody else in line, and there were a few mechanics working on projects in the garage. After a brief conversation, the attendant finally relented and took care of both things in a timely manner. Unfortunately, I received a card in the mail from my insurance company saying that the photos taken for the insurance inspection were inadequate and had to be retaken as soon as possible. When I brought the car back, the very same attendant gave me a hard time AGAIN. He asked if I could leave the car there for 2-3 HOURS. I said absolutely not, and he proceeded to ask me why!!! Again, he relented, but this time in a very disgruntled way, muttering "Too much, too much, too much," on his way out to my car. I'll never go here for anything, ever again. read more

Super nice guys here. As the law abiding, ticket hating citizen of the State of Massachusetts, I spent a few minutes of my day having my car inspected. I realized that it was impractical for me to continue to avoid public parking areas for fear of being caught with an expired inspection. Also of note, this is only my second state inspection. It took me WAY too long to realize what the numbers on the inspection stickers mean. Turns out that the 3 stands for MARCH. These guys were quick, they were nice, they were even funny. They also did something that the first guys who inspected my car didn't: they explained the inspection sticker to me, and gave me my report and told me to keep it in my glovebox. THANKS GUYS. Had a pretty terrible experience with my car inspection today. The inspection failed for tires being too worn, mainly the two back tires. Upon closer inspection with the mechanic, I noticed that there was a piece of the tire on the back passenger side that looked freshly gouged. I did ask for a quote, for which the owner refused to share once I told him that I would rather bring my car to be inspected further by my own trusted mechanic for a second opinion before making a decision (unfortunately my trusted mechanic does not do inspections and when I told him of this place, he did not recommend based on the terrible customer service complaints). I will not be returning to get my car re-inspected here, I'd rather spend an extra $35 elsewhere once I have my tires replaced. The owner handled this extremely poorly. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place. Perhaps being a minority and female does not help where these men feel that they can take advantage. read more

Took my car here for a state inspection, knowing that I'd fail b/c the check engine light was on, but needing a 60 day pass to get it fixed. They were very matter of fact about the light, ,what needed to be fixed, gave a quick estimate to fix it. No pressure, no hard sell. The next day the light went off by itself (Toyota Corolla, I'm told this happens) so I went back to get it re-inspected. They asked if I'd gotten it fixed, I said no but I wanted it tested anyway. They tested right away and I passed. A rare and welcome happy ending to a trip to the car repair shop. read more

I've been here several times over the years, mostly for inspections but also for new tires, battery, and patching up bits of the muffler. They are prompt, friendly and willing to talk to you about your car. I haven't had to to any internal engine work, so I can't speak to that. Prices seem to be on par with other places certainly cheaper than the dealership. OMG will never do dealership again, God willing! Recommend! The owner of this garage, Michael, was extremely unprofessional and rude with me. I went in for a battery replacement and the battery was installed without ever informing me of the price. It wasn't until three days later that I received an angry call from the owner demanding payment. The battery was grossly over priced and the owner was hostile and aggressive. When I questioned him about the cost of the battery, instead of explaining the price to me, he demanded payment and said "it was too late to negotiate because the battery had already been installed". I was not looking for a negotiation, I was simply looking for an explanation of why a $150 battery cost me $250. The service personnel who work at this garage are extremely friendly and professional, however the owner Michael is hostile to the point that it borders on verbally assaultive. I would not recommend this garage under any circumstances. There are numerous gas stations all along Broadway Street in Somerville with friendly and professional management. During the pandemic I wanted somewhere closer to home for inspections and routine things like putting on my winter tires. For two years I had a really good experience at this place, much like most reviewers report. But recently I dropped my car off for something routine that usually takes an hour, and when I went back to check after 7 hours they were just doing the work. Then I was finally able to pay, George told me that my brakes were rusted, and I should schedule a time to replace them. I wasn't sure that I believed this, so I paid for my dealership to check the brakes, and there was nothing wrong with them. Scrolling back through Yelp reviews now, I found another one with a similar "bad brakes" scam. So what I'd say is that probably you'll have great service at this place, but there's a non-zero chance that someone will tell you to replace your brakes, and you should probably verify that elsewhere. read more

Very poor service. I left my car here in an exetreme emergency and asked them to change my crankshaft sensor over night. I made them very aware that I had to work in the morning and that it needed to be done by a certain time. they said it will be done at 7:30am and to be here at 7:30am. I woke up, am here on time and they didn't even have it on the lift yet. currently 8:00am still watching him take his time with it. THEY WILL SPEAK A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE INFRONT OF YOU SO YOU AREN'T AWARE OF HOW UNORGANIZED THEY ACTUALLY ARE. They are rude when talking to you and always act like you don't know a thing about cars even when they can't find the crankshaft sensor right infront of you. Our gear shift cable snapped in Porter Square at 6PM, and AAA couldn't get to us until 9:30PM. So we were thinking we were completely SOL in terms of finding a mechanic nearby that would have the parts and be able to fix our car. Luckily we looked just a mile away and found the folks at Trum Field Sunoco, who were both willing to take our car in so late, but also make the repairs the next morning. We got there, filled out some light paperwork, and the next morning got a call saying they could fix it and get a replacement cable. The work was done in two hours, and we had our car back, fully operational after a repair we definitely couldn't have done in a full day. The price was also reasonable (we checked the price of a replacement cable just in case). Definitely going to return here if we're ever in need of some help. read more

Went to get tires replaced. The owner said he had he would install the same tires I currently had on the car. When I arrived to pick it up the tires were the wrong brand. Some cheap ones that his store had in stock. When I asked him to install the right ones he had all types of excuses, including that my inspection was contingent on the new tires and he would charge me extra for taking them off, etc. Total fraud, would not recommend anyone trust the owner. read more

I wish I could say all places were as honest (I'm looking at you, XXX, who tried to sell my older son new brake pads after an inspection, when he had just had them checked a month ago and they were fine). I brought my old minivan in as I thought the battery was dying because it was old. They were against replacing it until they checked the date, finding it truly was time to replace it. They replaced it for less than it would have cost me going to AutoZone and getting a battery myself. My wife has had good experiences, too. read more

Went there for the car inspection. One of the members of the staff got the keys and gave to his coworker. The other turned on the car and because there was noise in the muffler, told me right away that my car would receive a Rejected sticker and I would not be able to drive the car. He also asked me the year the car was made. They took the car in and did not look at me anymore or said anything. It was very cold out so I thought of going in to wait for their 'assessment' inside. Another customer arrived and had her inspection done in 5 minutes. They were talking to each other in another language and an employee brought a new muffler which I suspected it was for my car (the only car in the garage at the time). The man came to me and said again that the car would be rejected and I would not be able to drive the car or to park it outside on the street because I would receive a ticket. When he left I checked the information online and saw That drivers have 60 days to have the car fixed. There was so much pressure to have the whole muffler system replacement done by them, that this attitude plus their lack of good manners made me feel very uncomfortable. After I told them three times that I had a doctor's appointment and did not want to see the bottom of the car while lifted, I was shown a quote of 800.00. I was getting nervous by them, because the man told me again (!!!) that I wouldn't be able to drive because of the sticker. I will now take the car to a place I trust and have it fixed for way lower than the price I was given in the quote. No, I do not recommend this place, unfortunately.
