Al smashed up my son's car and then attempted to hide the $800 in damage with spray paint. - A close-up view of the front left side of a dark-colored vehicle, highlighting the headlight, bumper, and part of the hood. The car has some scratches, dirt, and minor damage on the bumper area. The vehicle is parked on a paved surface with some small debris and leaves nearby.

My son went to get an alternator put in his car. Al smashed up my son's bumper and tried to hide it with spray paint. He then called my son and said he would take $100 off the $300 bill for the alternator. My son was devastated- the lowest estimate to fix it was $800. Al also thinks it's completely appropriate to swear and yell in a woman's face in front of her teenage son. This shop is a joke and the owner is just a downright scammer. Very Disappointed in the "12-Point Inspection" and Customer Service…read more We brought our car to Hometown Auto in Stoneham on April 19 for a routine oil change that included a 12-point inspection. Just eight days later, our car died while we were traveling out of state--right in the middle of Letchworth State Park. We were stranded for nearly two hours waiting for AAA, which was incredibly stressful. When the technician arrived, he jump-started the car and immediately noticed severe corrosion on the battery terminals. He said it was one of the worst he'd seen. We had to cut our trip short and find an AutoZone to replace the battery that same day. That technician echoed the same sentiment about the corrosion. Yes, shame on us for not looking under the hood ourselves before the trip--but that's exactly why we count on routine services like a 12-point inspection to flag major issues. A severely corroded battery should have been obvious. When I called to express my concerns, "Mark" offered a vague apology before going on the offensive, claiming we never follow through with recommended repairs. We actually do--we just do them closer to home. I checked all our receipts from past visits and not once has a battery issue been mentioned, verbally or in writing. Mark ended the call by saying, "If you don't like it, then don't come back." That was both unprofessional and disappointing. We've been loyal customers, but this experience--with both the lack of real inspection and the dismissive attitude--makes us question the integrity of the service here. We will not be returning.

They proceeded to tell me I need it front brake repairs, the owner quoted me $ 375 and I told him I would consider it. The mechanic came out and said that i should do it all the next day, when we would do the brake replacement, that way the wheels section would only be opened and both issues fixed at the same time i did not want to commit so i told him to do the sensor replacement only. He was upset that I wanted to do it right away. He said that he would do it, I gave them the o.k. and he proceeded to tell me that every thing had been fixed. I got on my car , turned it on and the sensor light was still on. I got out and told the mechanic; he told me to drive it for a few miles and it would reset. I drove 50 plus miles and the light was on, telling me that i had a sensor problem. i called him and I told him I wanted to come back but he insisted that i come the next day. Meanwhile the price of the brake quote went from $ 375 to $ 425 when i asked the mechanic again. I went back today and they told me that I needed a 3rd sensor and I was charged an extra $ 50. I paid but I felt gypped. In my opinion, they never replaced the sensors the first time; they wanted me to come back and do the brakes and they would do it all at once. If they cannot do something so simple right the first time, why would I trust them with something more complicated.

**Note that you won't find this review on the company's website because the owner, Jaime Dovale,…read moreremoves all negative reviews ... which, in addition to being deliberately deceptive and dishonest, obviously defeats the purpose of reviews.** Certified. Automotive. Disaster. Without question, this was the worst experience I've ever had as a consumer of any product or service (I'm 58) ... nothing else even comes close. This saga spanned over 2 1/2 years ... it wasn't an isolated incident, and certainly not an outlier. I made the terrible mistake of trusting Jaime Dovale to do a full body-off overhaul of my 2006 Jeep Wrangler, and I couldn't have made a worse choice. Dovale said he was capable of doing the job and estimated that it would take 4-5 weeks. The scope of the project modestly increased as we proceeded, but I ultimately didn't get my Jeep back for 6 months (25 weeks to be exact) ... and only then after frequent visits to check on the status and many requests for completion. When I finally picked up my Jeep, Dovale's endless drivel and empty promises collided with reality ... and reality has prevailed from that day on. I received an absolute mess with which I've been dealing ever since ... a vehicle so riddled with problems that I had to take it back to Certified Automotive Disasters 15 times in the next 13 months ... appalling by any standard. Just think about how insane that is ... 15 times, AFTER he did a full overhaul (ultimately, 17 times in 25 months). And I also had to schedule 3 appointments with a local Jeep dealer and 1 appointment with an auto glass shop to fix problems that Dovale was unwilling to acknowledge, incapable of fixing, or both ... for a grand total of 21 returns in 26 months to fix virtually everything he and his hack techs touched ... and problems remain to this day. Dovale ruined a vehicle that I bought new and had always meticulously maintained ... I now have problems that didn't previously exist (most infuriatingly, water leaks thanks to Dovale's hack body work ... which means my interior gets soaked every time it rains), and he doesn't have the ability or integrity to fix them. NAPA has a limited two-year warranty on its parts and labor, but it turned out that much of the hack work that Dovale did on my Jeep wasn't covered. Yet Dovale falsely claimed, repeatedly, that ALL of his work was covered by a two-year warranty ... a complete lie. He finally admitted (via text) that, actually, he has no written warranty ... which means no warranty exists ... by far, Dovale is the most dishonest businessperson I've ever encountered. I complained to NAPA about a rear main seal leak that Dovale failed to fix twice, and that he then denied was even leaking ... after the local Jeep dealer confirmed that it was the seal, NAPA paid for me to have it repaired at that dealer ... I have the reimbursement check to prove it. Whoever heard of an auto repair shop that is so incompetent that they pay to have the work done at a dealer? I certainly hadn't ... until Certified Automotive Disasters. There isn't enough space in this review to explain all of his careless, sloppy, incompetent mistakes, including many that put my safety at risk ... far worse than a bad DIY job. I've had exponentially more problems since Dovale 'fixed' my Jeep than I did in the previous 15 years combined ... body work, clutch, 4WD, wheel balancing, steering/suspension, exhaust/tailpipe, check engine light, alternator, rear main seal, door seals, header seal, windshield, rear wiper, tailgate hinges/alignment, headlight alignment, turn signals, damage to interior, and the list goes on. And on top of the mind-boggling list of problems/mistakes/errors, the stress, inconvenience, and disruption to my life that he caused is incalculable ... constant and nonstop. I wouldn't trust Dovale to properly inflate a tire ... but if you don't value your vehicle, your money, or your time, then Certified Automotive Disasters is the place for you.

Seems like they double booked and was understaffed at that hour. The staff at the counter said a couple of his staffs called in late. I had to wait in the waiting area for pretty much the entire morning for my car to finish. After I got my car back, I realized that they swapped out my nice metal valve caps on my tires for cheap plastic ones. The wheel alignment report was not very informative and based on what I can make out, it seems like they might have made some of the alignment angles worst. While driving highway speeds, I find that the car drifts to the left when my steering wheel is directed straight. I have to turn my steering slightly right to go straight at highway speed. Plus they didn't get the tire pressure to my car's correct spec. The guy at the counter took his time to tell me about the rebates I can get online which I appreciate. But overall, it had been a disappointing experience from waiting so long, having my nice valve caps switched out, and the worsen alignment. The wait room was also small. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this spot. I would drive alittle further for a shop with better reputation.

This was my mistake, but when I told the rep at Goodyear, he said it wouldn't be a problem to do only 2. Well, this rep wasn't available when I picked up the car and 4 tires were replaced.
