I've brought both my wife's and my old cars here many times. They are very honest and will do what…read moreneeds to be done, without charging for more. They've told me that my front breaks were bad, but told me that the rear ones could wait, when they could have replaced all four without me questioning them, or that a clunking sound I thought was my rear suspension was actually just a loose exhaust that could be cheaply welded on. They've also diagnosed problems, told me the price to fix them, and then when I opted not to bother with the repair or to replace the part myself, didn't charge me anything for the diagnosis. You can be confident that when you take your car to them you'll get good work done at an honest price.

They were able to schedule me for an oil change the same day, which I thought was great! When I first arrived, I was a little confused about where to go because there were so many cars around and their garage is located in the back. I ended up calling them, and they let me know I was in the right place and told me to go into their office. After that, everything was easy! They have a waiting area where you can sit while they work on your car. The family pictures on the wall honestly made me feel safe and like I was in a very homey place LOL. And $40 for an oil change (I brought my own oil and filter) is not bad at all in this economy! I had a good experience and will definitely continue bringing my car here.

They tell you what you need to stay on the road but offer up what they think would help extend the life of your vehicle but will never coerce you into anything you don't need. They are very responsive, and will often get you in for same day service, even when they are packed. They have let me sit in the shop, and give great advice on my Subaru Forester. They have kept me on the road for years and keep prices fair.

Back in May, my 2006 Jeep Wrangler had a cracked tailpipe and a passenger's side window (handcrank)…read morethat was off-track. I called Lucey's on a Thurs morning and was able to schedule an appointment within two days. My Jeep was ready by early afternoon on the day of the appointment, and the work was excellent. The new muffler and tailpipe assembly is reminiscent of the factory version that came with the Jeep when I bought it new ... not loud, and rattle-free when I hit a bump. And the passenger's side window now goes up and down with ease. Based on that visit, I brought it back a few weeks later for a new air filter, brake inspection, and emergency brake fix. Once again, all the work was completed professionally, efficiently, and, most importantly, correctly ... so in all cases, Lucey's (in particular, Stevie) did an outstanding job with my Jeep. And if you're comparing local repair shops, note that, before going to Lucey's, I made the terrible mistake of having the other NAPA Auto Care center in Melrose, Certified Automotive Disasters (Upham Street), do a substantial amount of mechanical and body work ... see my Google and Yelp reviews for details of that monumental debacle. Like any service business, honesty, integrity, and competence are paramount, and I found all three at Lucey's ... if you're looking for those qualities in a repair shop, call them. Thanks again and apologies for the delayed review.

Once he even changed my headlight bulb for me when I had only come for gas (he kindly alerted me that my headlight was out, and luckily I already had the new bulb with me) - free of charge. Another time I stopped in to get some air in a slowly-leaking tire. They pumped up my tire on the spot, and I didn't even have to get out of the car - again, at no charge. One day I pulled in about 5 minutes after they'd closed. Noel came out to give me his regrets, but when he saw my low gas meter he very kindly opened up again for one last sale!
