I trust Bill's Auto. I have lived nearby and gone to Bill's for a little over a year and have been to Bill's three times.Each time, they have (1) always called first with a quote (2) had quick turnaround and (3) the quote was always really accurate. I recently had to get tire rods replaced as a result of a failed inspection. The inspection station also does repairs, and quoted something roughly twice as much as Bill's. And in the end, only one tire rod needed to be replaced instead of two, so it was even cheaper! I feel like a lot of shops would just replace both to charge more. They also took my car back to the inspection station for a recheck, which is awesome. :D They are always busy, and can seem a little brusque on the phone, but in person it feels like you're family. read more

This guy deserves every single star! He provides, by far, the best auto service of anyone else in the area by far, and he does it saving you money. It's unbelievable. His shop is right across the street from Lannan Chevy in Woburn, and while it doesn't look like some place you would normally drop your car for service... looks are definitely deceiving in this case. Bill himself is a VERY nice guy and more then helpful when it comes to your vehicle. He gave us an honest and up front (not to mention FREE) estimate. Let us know the front brakes were really bad and had to be replaced, but that the rear brakes were still in good shape, and that (at no extra charge by the way) he would clean them up and get the dust off them to keep them in good shape. He finished same day, but due to work schedule we couldn't swing by to pick-up the car. Bill said, "No problem I'll keep it in my lot over night and you can pay/pick-it up tomorrow". Not only was he nice enough to do that for me, but he didn't charge us a 'storage' fee which I've had other mechanics do in the past. Service was fast, cost was MUCH less than anyone else in the area, and customer service is unmatched. He even showed us the old parts so we could see why it was so bad, then took them to dispose of them (or if we wanted them for memory sake we could take em as well). Bill is my knight in shining armor. He tells me he'll check my car like his daughter is driving it and then calls me his beautiful redhead. So I get an ego boost and a car repair.....BTW, he looks like Sam Waterston from LAw and Order. Lol. The first time I went to him was after getting quoted $750 from 2 other places. Bill charged me $275!!! Plus I got a free loaner car. That was 2 years ago. If anything goes wrong I just call Bill. He always finishes same day too. Best Mechanic in Woburn. When I first met Bill, he told me he would take care of me and not "f*** me over". I loved this guy as soon as I met him lol. Bill can be a bit brash at first, but after you get to know him and understand how busy he is, you'll appreciate his honesty. He doesn't say goodbye on the phone and is cut try about his availability for the day. He get's so busy he will take the phone off the hook, and will happily admit it! He'll make you laugh and will go back and forth with you in a playful, "Older Uncle" type of way. He's a sweetheart and my wife adores him. I've been going to him for all my vehicle needs for the past 4 years, as well as my wife's. He get things done fast, and charges well below what other mechanics in the area will charge. He's honest; you won't get any hidden charges and the estimate he gives you before working on the car is almost exactly what you will pay for on the total bill(give or take 5-10$). There was a couple of times where I had to drop my car off early in the morning. Bill was kind of enough to provide me with a car to get to work. No extra charge, no paperwork, just handed me the keys. He did this for my wife as well, and the same for other people I've sent his way. read more

Unbelievable customer service. My car died, and since I'm new to the area, I turned to yelp for guidance on where to tow my car. I called Bill's to find out if they would be able to work on my car today. Without answering any questions, Bill suggested I needed to have the car towed over and before I could respond, hung up. A little baffled, I called back, and explained that I was hoping to find out if he worked on my type of car, if he could repair it today assuming it was something straight forward. Again, he cut me off, and started to rant about how he was really busy, had a good customer base, and really didn't need any more business. If I wanted to, I could tow it over and he'd let me know what needed to be done and when he'd have the leisure of getting to it, but his days of bending over backwards to pander to us customers was over. read more

I had such a good and personal experience at Bill's Auto Service. My parents live far away, and I am probably one of the most car challenged people you will meet. Hear a noise? Turn the radio up... however when it was hard to turn the steering wheel I brought it to Bill. Having been told by friends that all I need was a serpantine belt, I was not prepared (albeit not surprised) that my car needed much more work. Bill was not only reasonable and fair, but when above and beyond and his son fixed a minor break on my bender from an unfortunate meeting with a cone on the pike. He reached out to me for each unexpected cost, to make sure I approved it. For just under 900, I got two new tires, inspection, all new power steering, the fixed bumper, and all the associated stuff with a car tune up. Highly recommend. read more

Being new to the State of MA and needing some serious car repairs, I was nervous. I found Bill's Auto Service on Yelp with amazing reviews so I thought I'd give it a try. The shop is in a dilapidated building but the service is amazing. Bill Sr. made sure to call me with an estimate before doing the work and provided me with a free loaner car while they did the work. His estimate was spot on, he offered the old parts to see what he switched out and even warmed the car up when I said I'd be there in 20 minutes to pick it up. I feel great supporting a small local business and even better that I can fully trust them to do a great job on my car. I had to get my AC compressor and serpentine belt replaced and got front brakes as well. Bill charged me $1260 for my 2007 Honda CRV. I normally service my car with the dealer. Out of curiosity I called the dealer and got a quote for the same work and they said it would cost $1,642. Bill saved me $382! I highly recommend them. read more

My car failed inspection for loud exhaust. Bill put on a new muffler, drove over to Woburn Gas & Service to get my inspection sticker AND changed my oil for me! I did not need a loaner car, but he had one ready for me if I needed it. I dropped the car off in the morning and picked it up at 3:00PM same day all inspected and running quietly. This review is a couple months late, but these guys really helped me out, I was in Woburn out of town when my alternator died. They got me in right away and let me use a loaner car, also since the alternator had been replaced about 10 months earlier by another shop, and was still under warrantee, they let me get the part myself through the warrantee and only charged me for the labor. After reading the rave reviews for this auto shop, I figured, what the heck, I'll check it out. I called and spoke with Bill or at least he said he was Bill. He was super duper nice. Seriously, incredibly friendly, talked about the issue I was having with my car due to the engine check light on, and he told me to come on down and they would take a look at it. I dropped by and whoa! Totally different attitude. It was like a Jekyl and Hyde--Jekyl on the phone and Hyde in person. No joke. Bill told me that it would cost $50 just to assess the problem. I stated my surprise since he didn't mention that on the phone. He then said, well, if you don't like it, go to Autozone. They'll diagnose the problem for free and you tell them to fix it! I said, okay, okay, it's all right. Take your ativan first. I mentioned that I spoke with Bill on the phone, who I thought was the owner. He then spoke to a guy in the shop and said that he was the owner and his name was also Bill I guess. Either way, I told him, no problem, thanks for your time (and your attitude). Frankly, the bait and switch is not something I'm terribly fond of and giving the customer an attitude is beyond me...even if you're a jerk like the guy was, at least pretend to be nice for the two minutes you speak to me. Anyway, my suggestion, look around and actually find a good mechanic who is also a kind hearted soul! Good luck! read more

Worst mechanic I've ever dealt with. Now I understand some guys can be eccentric, but this guy takes the cake. His rudeness and ignorance is almost as bad as his repair work. My vehicle has been there several times in the past month and a half and after about 2000$ later it's still breaking down on me! This guy doesn't let you get in a word edgewise and does nothing but badmouth all other shops and says how great he is. Well buddy, your customer service is the worst in the business, your mechanics are incompetent and your shop is an absolute disgrace. This guy should be ashamed of himself on how he treats his customers and the quality of work they do, but it doesn't seem to bother him at all. I have only brought my vehicle back because I figured maybe he would stand behind his work, but no such luck. CONSUMER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!! I called Bill's auto to have them work on my son's car. He needed a brake job. After he looked at it he told me it would cost $550 to do the work. I approved the work based on the quote he gave me. He called me at the end of the day to tell me the work was completed. He asked me for my credit card info, which I gave him. I checked my bank account shortly after and saw that he charged my card $650, not the $550 he quoted. I called him and questioned the charge and he stated that the original estimate didn't include labor..and he was charging me 100 in labor. I told him that wasn't what he said and I wanted a refund of the $100 that he charged over what he said he was charging. He said "I don't need this sh*t" and hung up the phone on me. I called a few hours later and told him again, I'd like a refund of the money he overcharged. He said the transaction already went through and he couldn't refund the money and he hung up again. My gripe isn't with the work he did, it was the dishonesty and quoting something and then charging a different amount with no explanation or warning. I will be following up with the BBB. read more
