Let me start by saying I am not someone who writes reviews. But, for this guy, I just can't help it. This guy is the absolute balls!!!. I found him by accident one day when my car wouldn't start after I came out of KFC in Woburn on a Sunday after getting football chicken, I was a fair distance from home, and a long way from the mechanic I had been using. I had to get a cab home, and I just asked the cabbie who was a good mechanic close by. He said, "No contest - take it to Billy over on Winn Street." I was pretty intrigued because cabbies are pretty hard on their vehicles, and largely view mechanics as the enemy. So, I called Billy Monday morning, gave him my story, and asked who he recommended to tow my car into him. He made a recommendation, and the tow driver came to my home to get the key, and then delivered my disabled car to Billy, by 10:00 a.m. Six hours later, Billy called me and said my car was all ready. He offered to have his "runner" come to my home to pick me up, and I quickly and gratefully agreed saving myself a $40.00 cab fare. When I got there, I confess to being a little bit concerned because the facility seemed a little marginal, and Billy himself, while a great guy, has a penchant for turning a rather salty phrase, but he had not only diagnosed the problem, some fuel tank blockage under the trunk necessitating unloading a ton of junk in my trunk to get at the problem, and then reloading it back in more neatly that I'd had it , but he'd also spot welded my exhaust to make my car run much more quietly, and topped off all my fluids. Total bill $ 187.50. I was impressed.
A couple of months later, I noticed that my headlights were getting dramatically dimmer and unstable. I dropped in at 4:00 p.m. unannounced to have Billy take a look at it. He said go away for an hour, and I'll take care of it, so I walked up the street and had a good Mexican meal, and walked back down at closing time and my car was all set again, and all four sockets and bulbs for high and low beams had been replaced, and he showed me the old original parts that were all just degraded from age. Car has 220,000 miles on it. I was impressed again. Just on a fluke I asked him about the little nipple on my hood that squirts windshield wiper fluid onto the wind screen and which had lifted up a little and was shooting the washer fluid onto the roof. He said, well you can get a new one if you want, but. . . and then his son came over with a little tiny tube of superglue and handed it to me. He said when you get home, put a drop under that little nipple and put a brick on it, and leave it overnight. I did so, and sure enough, now the thing squirts the stream dead center into the driver's side windshield.
I called Billy again just now because my car needs several things done. At first he balled me out in his unique salty Billyesque way because my cell phone wasn't working properly and told me to call back when I was on a real phone. I did, and I told him what I needed, and he offered me a loaner, (which I didn't know was an option) but since I had arranged a car already, he offered to have his "runner" drive me home after I delivered my car to him. He said, just make your list, and drop her off, we'll take care of it. I am about to do so now, and have complete confidence in the outcome.
A diamond in the rough top to bottom. Fair, honest, reasonably priced, and doesn't upsell, or gaff you with things you don't need, but looks after your car like his own kids were depending on it to get around.
Just flat awesome!
