Terrible experience. Took my car to replace a tire sensor and mechanic told me I had to replace 2 instead. They proceeded to tell me I need it front brake repairs, the owner quoted me $ 375 and I told him I would consider it. The mechanic came out and said that i should do it all the next day, when we would do the brake replacement, that way the wheels section would only be opened and both issues fixed at the same time i did not want to commit so i told him to do the sensor replacement only. He was upset that I wanted to do it right away. He said that he would do it, I gave them the o.k. and he proceeded to tell me that every thing had been fixed. I got on my car , turned it on and the sensor light was still on. I got out and told the mechanic; he told me to drive it for a few miles and it would reset. I drove 50 plus miles and the light was on, telling me that i had a sensor problem. i called him and I told him I wanted to come back but he insisted that i come the next day. Meanwhile the price of the brake quote went from $ 375 to $ 425 when i asked the mechanic again. I went back today and they told me that I needed a 3rd sensor and I was charged an extra $ 50. I paid but I felt gypped. In my opinion, they never replaced the sensors the first time; they wanted me to come back and do the brakes and they would do it all at once. If they cannot do something so simple right the first time, why would I trust them with something more complicated. read more

My fiancée and I had our car checked out for screeching noises in the front and smoking. When we go to this auto shop they said it was the water pump and quoted us. After the fact they end up telling us they changed the alternator without letting us know. When we pick up the car it still had the SAME noises and smoke! Instead of being helpful the guy tried to point out more problems including the steering pump. "You can bring it back next week and I'll work on it" he said. Coincidentally NOW the steering pump stopped working as I was driving with my baby in the car after they said it was "safe to drive". So honestly I think this place is just shady and looking to rip off people. Definitely do not recommend save your money!!!!!! Never coming back here. Terrible service. read more

I pulled in, and the owner "Mike" came out, checked all the tires, and he saw my back left tire had a nail in it. He plugged the tire, and when I asked him "How much do I owe you", he said it's free. Franklin Auto used to be in this spot. They moved to another location and this place came in. I like it here, service is great. I usually don't do full service gas stations but seeing as this is right near my house, in a pinch on the way to the highway, I'll stop by. I like the guys here they're pretty friendly for having to pump gas. They also usually do the windows which is nice. I went more when they had the Bruins raffle if you guess the correct dollar amount when you were filling up your tank. Yeah, no one could guess the exact amount I'm sure but I tried.. yup.. I tried really hard. Nothing. Great promotion to get people in though, awesome. They had an auto body shop, unsure of the services; basic oil and stuff they do but other things I'm not 100%. read more

This garage literally almost killed my fiancée. No joke We had never used this garage before, but she decided to give them a try and dropped off her Jeep for some required maintenance. Mike, the owner, informed her that the service would take a couple of hours on Friday to complete. My fiancée told Mike that she needed her vehicle to drive to work Friday and inquired if she could drop off the vehicle at a later date. This is where things went wrong. The owner told my fiancée that the garage had a courtesy vehicle she could take to work and return when the maintenance on her Jeep was complete. I get a text from her around 11AM when she picks up the courtesy vehicle saying "this thing is a shit box. It feels very unsafe" At 11:20 I get a call from her in hysterics. The brakes on the courtesy vehicle had failed completely while she was driving on 95 North. She had to crash the car into a field off the highway in order to avoid a major collision. This is a service garage we're talking about here and they have a courtesy vehicle with brakes that don't work. Ironic right? After calming my fiancée down and ensuring she was uninjured I take a few minutes to calm down myself and call the garage. The owner Mike picks up. I explain to him the phone call I just received and ask him how he can give a courtesy vehicle to a customer with brakes that don't work. This is the icing on the cake. Rather than apologizing profusely for the fact that he almost killed my fiancée, Mike becomes very flippant with me. He tries to refute everything I say, arguing with me and being extremely obstinate, going so far as to try and blame the fact that the brakes on HIS courtesy car didn't work because of something my fiancée did. I ask him to please not touch her Jeep any further as I do not trust his shop to service her vehicle if they can't even service their own cars. He tells me that the work has already been done and we have to pay him for it. I state that we are absolutely not paying as he risked my fiancées life with a piece of shit courtesy car. It gets even better. Mike tells me "ok if you don't want to pay I'll take the Jeep apart and put all the old parts back on it." I ask very politely what I need to do for him to not touch the Jeep anymore. He says I have to pay for the parts. I agree to pay for the parts and no more, which in my mind is still crazy seeing as he'd almost killed my fiancée half an hour earlier. But at this point I'm so fed up with him and don't trust him not to screw with the Jeep. I tell him I'll be by in the evening to pay and pick up the car. I also tell him that I'd like to speak with him further about his unsafe business practices. When I show up, he's not even there. The guy had left for the evening and didn't even stick around to apologize. Complete and utter bullshit experience. It's absolutely indefensible to almost kill one of your customers. Avoid this place at all costs - they can't even take care of their own cars, they definitely won't take care of yours. read more

I moved to Stoneham a few years ago and started getting gas there which lead to inspection stickers, oil changes, brakes, tune-ups etc. I have never had a problem, Mike gives firm quotes for any work that needs to be done, you never get stuck with "extra charges" and the work is well done. If for some reason his shop can't do it, he is up front and tells you it needs to go to the dealership. Its really nice to work with someone honest. Once when I was there there were several other people waiting or dropping off cars and they all had great things to say about Mike and his service. Imagine my disbelief that I got a big R for multiple items. Took it to the mechanic who couldn't find these issues including a tail light out. I live down the street from this place. So now you can come find me and beat me up for all my lousy reviews. Story time!: My car died this morning. Poor baby. I've had her for 13 years. Thought she was a goner. Actually, I had been having starter problems for months now and have been too scared to fix it. This morning, it wouldn't stop trying to start itself, even with the keys out. Weird. So I was going to take it down the street to Midas, because I didn't think father & son places existed anymore. At least not the kind of places that screw you. Well I was wrong. They DO exist! And this place is one of them. This used to be "Robert's Automotive". He worked on my baby before too and was a fine mechanic. He left. I don't know why. The Konaxis family bought this location and moved in a few months back. Cleaned it up. Offer fueling services. Looks nice. I actually drove by on my way to Midas, and then turned around to give this place a whack at my car. I don't know why. I don't like new places. But don't judge a repair shop by it's cover! Spoke to the son, Stepehen Konaxis and he hooked me up. Stopped my car from continually trying to stop itself and ran down the list of things he can do to try and fix it. I asked him about the business and it's new owner, and that's when I learned he is the son of this particular Father & Son auto repair shop. Nice guy. Knows his stuff. Then - get this - he asked if I needed a car and threw me the keys to a loaner. That hasn't happened to me in.... 20 years? Amazing. No paperwork or worries just - here ya go - take my car. That right there had me for life. I am judging this place, and they haven't even fixed my car yet. I'll update this review to let ya know how they did. That is, if anyone reads this garbage. Well, if you're a local and were wondering about that new place on main street, wonder no more. I give it a thumbs up. * Update: $320 to swap out the starter? Are you crazy? Starter motors are $100 TOPS for my car. MAYBE $100 worth of labor to stick it in there. Puh-leaze. You lose one star for that, pally. * * Update #2: All fixed. Yay. Good-hearted shop that wants to fix your problem while keeping its doors open. They actually didn't fix my problem and I still feel compelled to laud their efforts. That's how impressed I am with the customer service/ownership. I believe that this is the kind of place that's built on ethics. This is a humanitarian garage of sorts. If you were to ever find yourself in a tight spot or a situation where you would otherwise need to trust a mechanic to not fleece you, this is the one you should put your faith into. I have brought my cars here for several years and Mike has always been fair and honest each step of the way. His prices are competitive and he often goes above and beyond to ensure the work is done quickly and thoroughly. I most recently brought my car in for multiple jobs (sticker, break pads and wheel hub replacement) on a Monday morning. At 5pm it was not quite done and he mentioned it would take a few more hours and likely not be ready until the next morning. After asking me if I needed a courtesy car, I told him I would see if my wife and I could just make it work with one car for the day. Not even an hour later (which was after hours) I get a call from Mike telling me he put all his guys on the job and that the car was ready. It was much appreciated, especially given that we didn't have to try to arrange rides for our kids while getting to work with just one car. This is one example of Mike's customer care but not the only one in just my experience with him. I'm glad I found a place that I can genuinely trust when it comes to taking care of our cars. read more

Had my car here for over 2 years for restoration. After some time nothing was really getting done with my car there. Jim just kept calling me for more and more money as the car sat. As did most cars in his shop. I knew I had to find another shop in which I did. Would not recommend these guys at ALL ! Like most mechanics he is in over his head w/ restoration and virtually no employees. Its probably why he just stuck with pumping gas and changing oil. read more
