I called to see if I needed an appointment to get my car inspected and the gentleman who answered the phone was very pleasant and said that no appointment was necessary. I drove over a few hours later and was helped immediately. I interacted with 3 different men while there and they were all very nice to deal with. I dropped my car off for an inspection but at the last minute I asked if they would also change my oil. They said no problem and recommended I grab a coffee. By the time I walked down to the Dunkin' Donuts and back to the Sunoco (the line was pretty long for coffee) my car was already taken care of. I was gone maybe 20-25minutes. Mike and his team are just plain awesome. We've been going there for years. I have a '99 Corolla that I just want to keep safe and running, so if you're looking for honest pragmatic advice, this is the place. I can't thank them enough for dealing with our insurance company, who dragged their feet for weeks on a claim. (Don't get me started about Arbella, horrible company.) I love these guys. They represent the best of what a neighborhood mechanic should be.Three times now I have gone to them for a small job and at the end our conversation goes like this: "You are all set." "How much do I owe you?" "Don't worry about it." "No really. How much?" *Smiles* "Next time." Every time I have needed an oil change or an inspection they do it reasonably quickly and for a fair price. I have also had some major work done. They replaced much of my exhaust system which had rusted over. The system was in much worse condition than I expected and to allay my concerns about how much had to be replaced, they actually look me under the car and showed me all of the issues with my mufflers, the piping, and the catalytic converter. I started taking my car here for inspections and oil changes because it is close to my house. I am writing this review because more recently, my car broke down and I had major repairs done. I have an older, high mileage car that is slowly reaching the end. It could easily look like money with wheels to any repair shop. However, this shop's staff did not push for a service or repair beyond what is safe and makes sense for a car its age and mileage. 5 star service. These guys are super accommodating. I've gone in a couple times ranging from inspections, getting new tires put on, checking out the causes of check lights and so on. they're pretty efficient at their work flow and i've always been in and out fairly quickly. i've gone in with price quotes for work done at other places (unbeknownst to them) and these guys have always quoted me lower rates for both product and work rates. for that reason, i always try and go to their shop whenever i need something done to my car. to the guy who gave a one star review for an extremely high price on an inspection, they were clearly joking around with you. dont be a dummy. read more

I have to admit, I did not come here for anything life altering--just a flat tire and an oil change. After calling around to five other shops before this, the man who answered the phone was by far the friendliest and as luck would have it also quoted the lowest prices. I was told I did not need an appointment, which he explained was standard for work that does not require parts, I showed up the following day and was in and out within an hour. Unfortunately for me, the problem with my tire was sensor related, however, the mechanic took the time to show me what the problem was, gave me the pros and cons of potential solutions, and let me choose how I wanted to address the problem. read more

Love these guys. I'm so terrible at making appointments, its never even something that occurs to me. I usually pull up when I'm passing by and ask if they have time for an oil change or when might be a good time and they've always taken me right away. I went there the other day because my back right blinker was out and whenever I put on my right blinker it was like "clikaclikaclikaclikaclika" instead of "clack..clack..clack", which is unsettling, but I've only ever changed these things myself with my friends and you never know how much these car things will cost or how long it will take to do them, so I was putting it off. Pulled in here to ask about it and the guy says "$250, we can do it right now." That guy loves to mess with me. I was like "No really." and he's like "$10, we can do it right now." I had to get to work soon and they did it right then with time to spare. Another reviewer said the guy reminded her of a Seinfeld character and I've always thought the same, lol. I also went in once because something under my car was squeaky and both my mom and boyfriend always mention it when they're in my car. It sounded fine to me, but I finally brought it in and they took me right away, got the car up on the giant jack thing and commenced shoving it around and searching for the noise. It ended up being some curve of pipe that was supposed to be secured but the attachment was rusted away and it was bouncing around a bit. They put a clamp on it and it was so cheap I can't recall whether they charged me at all. Yay, love it here, read more

These guys are an excellent local mechanic. I mostly go for state inspections (which take no more than 15 minutes while they check out everything on the car), but I've also gone for a couple minor issues with one of my older cars. I had a dash light on, they told me the exact sensor that had failed and asked if I wanted them to replace it. Since I know something about cars, and this was an easily accessible sensor, I said no, and I would take care of it. Any other place does the work and then says "oh yeah, you owe us this much. I then took the car to have some shocks put in. Fair price and fast service. I highly recommend these guys and the head guy Mel takes care of you. I recommend giving the guy who works on the car a tip if you agree that the service is excellent. read more

Went there for an inspection today. They got it done before I could walk to the 7-11 a block away and get a coffee.

My husband went on wednesday around 5 pm, to fixed a flat tire. They " FIXED" in about 15 minutes. We came back home, around 8 pm, my husband notice the tire was flat again. So he change the tire again, and went back to the gas station. The guy who was there told him to dont worry about. I will call you tomorrow. On the next day, the guy called him to tell him the tire had a small cut on the side and nothing they can do about. My husband went back to get the tire and ask for his money back, because they did not fixed the tire. The guy wont give his money back. Too bad for him, because he losted a good customer. My husband used to put gas on his car twice a week, and me, least once. We will never go back there. read more

I second the review of Will S. Most of the time they don't even charge me. They have saved me so many times--this summer they fixed a tire that exploded on the highway. Recently I had a pesky electrical issue that was impossible to diagnose and I can't believe I was actually arguing with them to let me pay! This has never happened to me before. read more

I went in to get my car re-tested after failing inspection. I didn't realize you had to go back to the station where you had your original test done for it to be free. Neither did the technician at this Sunoco station that inspected my car. He told me I owed the fee because I only get 60 days to get my re-test done. I told him I was well within the 60 days for my re-test. When we went inside to discuss, another worker said it was because I didn't go to the original station. I told him I was unaware of that and that the technician could've asked when I first brought it in. He said it would be a courtesy but he doesn't have to do it. I guess courtesy is not part of his business ethic. The technician wouldn't have done it anyway since he didn't even know it was the rule. If you want a place that sees courtesy as part of their process, this is not it. read more
