I'm really sad that I have to Leave this review becuase last time we are there the food was pretty good. This review is about the terrible management specifically manager Julie. I ordered online tonight for my family of 5, a few minutes after I ordered I got a strange email saying "true west didn't approve your order please call the restaurant." So I did and a staff member handed my call off to Julie, she told me "I'm not sure why you got that email, we have your order here you are all set to come in for your schedule pick up time" I double checked asking so my order is good to go she said yes. I got there to pick it up and there were so many young staff members wondering around looking like lost puppies not knowing how to help anyone. Finally I made eye contact with a young man who was not thrilled to help but went back to check my order. He came back out and said "unfortunately we are having an issue and your order never processed we will process now and it will take 45 minutes." I told him not to process it. I left and called to speak to Julie and she was too busy to take my call. This wouldn't be so bad has I missed the email and not called but I specifically called to check on it and was told it's all set to still come at my sceduled time. They really need to train their staff better and teach them all some manners. read more

Terrible service, overpriced, just okay food, covid safety limited. Upon arriving to the establishment we noticed the cute Decour and had high hopes for the restaurant however it did not live up to our expectations. First of all there was limited covid safety, the servers were wearing masks, however on my walk to the bathroom I noticed a server rolling cutlery in napkins with no gloves and her mask around her chin. We tried to order the Oktoberfest and were told they didn't have any which was surprising considering it is a brewery in late September. After taking our order we barely saw our server ever again. Our appetizers that we had ordered for the table was delivered by a buss boy with no plates or napkins, it took us 15 minutes to flag down anyone who worked there let alone our server. Ultimately the hostess brought us plates napkins and cutlery. Our main course arrived again by a buss boy who didn't even clear the plates from the appetizers, at this point no one had checked in to see if we needed refills on our drinks or anything. 10 min into the meal our server resurfaced to check in on our meals wish were frankly just okay, we then ordered 2 more drinks one of which never arrived. The total bill for dinner for 4 people was around $200 with only 5 drinks ordered, overall way over priced for the level of service and quality of food. read more

My wife and I met a couple and their daughter at True West this evening I got a veggie burger and the waitress suggested lobster risotto for my wife. The veggie burger was definitely mediocre , the sweet potato fries were pretty good, and my wife's lobster risotto was pretty meh. Overall about 3 stars. read more

We had heard this restaurant was wonderful and gave it a go! It was awesome!!! Lots of parking. Our order: beef nachos,caprese flatbread, grownup Mac and cheese with bacon, cheeseburgers and fries. Ruckus beers, white sangria, and True West Side for drinks Our waitress Amy was great, attentive and quick. The food was quick to come out and was delicious. The beers are brewed in their brewery that is solar powered and they work with local farms to source the ingredients for their menu. Fresh and flavorful. Sat at the bar with a couple of friends on a late Sunday afternoon. Menu looked interesting. We got three orders of flatbread -- all pretty good. Also got the "soft pretzel" appetizer...tasted a little too much like a loaf of bread to me. Burgers looked good, although I didn't get one. Finally, the waitress was very friendly. I must go along w/ everyone claiming it's too loud. I see the owner replied to a Yelp review saying he got the acoustic panels in...but that was a week ago. Not sure if they've been put up yet, but was hard to have a conversation at the bar. None of the beers grabbed me, but I'm not a huge beer lover so guess I can't fault them there. A home-brewed root beer would be awesome for those of us that aren't into beer. Finally, I'm very happy to have another restaurant in Acton and I really hope they make it. I must admit though, I don't find the layout very comfortable. It's one big open room, nothing on the walls, the tables either right on top of each other or with bar patrons backing up into you. It doesn't have the feel (at least to me) of a place you'd want to hang out for too long in. In all fairness this review is based on the brewery service. I did not dine there. Driving through the area I noticed the True West sign. I decided to stop and check it out. Woodsy tones were inviting. I was the only person in the place, except for the hostess, an active employee behind the bar and a possible trainee/ I'm not sure but the guy was chatting non stop to her... I was disappointed that the only way to bring any beer home was in a growler..I just wanted my husband and I to sample the beer, in case we wanted a new place to try. I selected two styles from the menu and asked for the small growler. The guy behind the bar, while efficient, was so busy chatting to his coworker he barely recognized he had a customer. He filled the growlers and did get a bag for them. When he went for the bag, the coworker asked how my day was going...I replied It's Not Going Well...she said "That's good". When the price was rung up I was a bit surprised...the small growler was $13 but the bottle was a $5 deposit! I understand there has to be a deposit so.. This was on a Friday. I opened the growler the next day and the beer was flat. The growler had been kept cool, so not sure what happened. The second growler, was effervescent. But we were not a "fan" of the beer style (Ruckus IPA) Today I took the over an hour ride to return the growler bottles. I was told they do not refund the deposit money. Now, I admit I am not savvy as to how each brewery handles this but fronting an extra $10 for the glassware was sticker shock. The hostess, she deserves recognition as she was respectful and polite. I started to get annoyed, thinking I had paid $18 for each growler, one flat, one un-favored. I stated my opinion...and the hostess was going above and beyond to help me out...and give me the refund. BUT when I saw it was on a gift card I declined...With the exception of the hostess, given the beer, the pricing and the attitudes...I have no intention of returning to this place. somehow I doubt I'll be missed. read more

Our first visit was a Friday night, and the staff was super friendly, went out of their way on a busy night to make sure we got a table, and I was really impressed by the food. We had giant chicken wings, a Caesar salad which was huge and had a delicious home-made dressing (possibly a bit too lemon-esque for some but I gobbled it up), and the Beef-on-Weck was top-notch (one of my favorites). Food is very good, specifically the wings BUT the service and/or management is literally the worst. Turned away 1 minute after 9pm when we arrived to order from their tap menu (limited food menu)... apparently the kitchen closes at 9pm despite the listed hours being to 10:30pm (confirmed via phone before driving there). THEN, called to confirm the next night of their kitchen hours and their Mon/Tues wing special, verified we were good only to arrive and be informed by our server that they stopped the wing special. Seriously, get it together people. Great service is absolutely necessary these days, there are just too many other better places with great food AND great service of which we will be choosing over you next time. My boyfriend's dad lives in Acton and we were coming up for a visit so I Googled "brewery near route 2". We were pleasantly surprised when True West popped up. At 5pm on a Friday there were still bar seats and the place wasn't too packed. Our server was nice, but the pace of service was definitely slower than normal especially given the number of people working versus the number of patrons. I got the chocolate vanilla porter as a taster and t was ok but not good enough to get a full pour of. I ended up getting a full pour of the Ruckus and it was excellent. We ordered the stuffed onion rings on the recommendation of the waitress but it was a miss for us. Great idea, but the execution is off. The filling was fine but definitely not reminiscent of the filling in jalapeño poppers like we expected from the description. Also, there was visibly waaaaay to much salt and pepper on them. Like someone did 5-6 shakes of salt on both sides before sending them out. There should be quality control and anyone looking at them could see it's way too much salt if there was a check before they went to the table. The only other thing to note is the portion size is smaller than any pub or bar you'd go to. This is fine because it's a scratch kitchen with fresh local ingredients, but when you get three onion rings in an order they better be good IMo For dinner we had the fried chicken sandwich with the fried pickles because the waitress highly recommended upgrading the side. The fried pickles have the same batter as the stuffed onion rings and we're even saltier if you can believe it. To the point where I took a bite of one and couldn't eat it. I was able to flag down the waitress when I was about halfway through my sandwich to let her know and she immediately took away the bad batch and went to get a fresh one. It only came when I was done eating my sandwich but it was fine we picked at them and they were better. There was no more visible salt but there was obviously still salt in the batter (which is fine) it was just still a little too much. Next time I'd skip the fried pickles altogether and get Fries or salad. Not worth the upcharge The fried chicken sandwich was excellent. Took advantage of a warmer than normal December afternoon go check out the patio at True West. As the sun set the heat lamps were a welcome addition and we were cozy and warm. Save yourself time and money and do not go to this place for food or service! We had a horrible experience eating dinner there last night. Waitress totally ignoring us and instead we had to beg any live person that would pass our table for anything at all!!!!!! Truly a miserable place for service and the food is not much better at all! She finally brought the written order and said it had got to the kitchen instead of the bar!!! No one was coming to get our food order even after initially telling the waitress that we were having the three course meal that was offered! Miserable wait to get food and then the pairing beers weren't coming and I had to beg a bus boy to bring us water! Food was terrible with burnt fries and untasty risotto. Now there was no sign of anyone taking our dessert order!!! At some point we finally ordered and then a while later the chef comes out talking to the manager....simply because he had no idea about the planned dessert for the night. Mind you this was part of Acton Restaurant Week with planned menus!!! The last straw to break the camel's back was when our original waitress shows up and gets the final pairing beer order for the dessert. She brings it in a much larger size and charges us for it! When confronted she gives a lame excuse about having included another beer as part of the deal! We are generous people about tipping and putting up with difficult situations but this was absolutely over the limit of our tolerance. Five stars for consistently good food/drink & a recent above and beyond experience. I've been here a few times, always received good service but was inspired to write a review based my most recent visit. We had a work gathering of approx 15-20 people head over here mid-day last Friday to celebrate a co-workers retirement. Being aware that this location doesn't take reservations, we had called a few days ahead to ensure this wouldn't be an issue and also to inform them that a member of our party has a disability requiring high seating (anything other than the main dining room tables, which are much shorter than the bar or high tops). Unfortuantely something got lost in communciation and when we arrived they were unaware of the situation. Although they weren't busy (being mid day on a Friday), all three seating areas that could work for us were occupied. HUGE SHOUT OUT to Ty (spelling?) and Morgan, who went above and beyond to accomodate us. From the get go they were committed to finding a resolution, and upon hearing abour the circumstances of the event pulled out all the stops to make sure that all members of the party were comfortable and able to participate. This was a situation where they easily could have said "too bad, so sad", but they went out of their way to deliver top notch customer service. True West let me discover it during a Google search and my drive over to the sleepy town of Acton did not disappoint. The building is nice looking and I REALLY love the bayonet tap handles. A nice local lady explained Acton's history in going toe to toe with the redcoats which was confirmed online. The beers were good but what REALLY was fantastic was the hamburger. It was utterly fantastic. The hand-made veggie chips were a nice side but the burger was insanely good. Even now, 2 weeks later, my mouth is watering as I write this. Good service, interesting but not outgoing customers, just the right degree of TVs on in the background all would have = a 5 star rating but that burger boosted it to a 5. Nice place. Good service. Organic burger with interesting cheeses. I got Gorgonzola, it's Halloween, how could I not get Gorgonzola. :) Decor is a bit grim, the front half glares in the afternoon. I wanted to get out my sunglasses. The back half is gloomy. It's all modern, fashionable grey. The grey that reminds of us that 1st, post college apartment where we were afraid to hang pictures for fear we would be arrested if the landlord found out. No pictures, no relief from the grey. The Beef-On-Weck (a $19 sandwich) was the worst dish I've ever been served at a restaurant. The beef was mostly gristle and was cooked until it was dry as sawdust. I have only tried the kids' burger when my daughter was having hers, and a couple appetizers. All were pretty tasty. And you know the burger has been done right when the buns are slightly toasted. The dressing that came with the side salad was olive oil and lemon juice, which was a great, light way to enhance the greens. The ambience is nice, and the servers have been friendly and helpful. This place is heaven for gluten free eaters. I'm not just referring to switching out a regular bun for a gluten free one...they can also prepare all kinds of other items, including fries, tater tots, wings, fried pickles and other hard to find "once in a while treats" gluten free. I'm particularly fond of their seasonal risottos. I will say just like anywhere, there are some things True West excels at, and some things on the menu that are "meh". It is definitely a place that is worth returning to, even if you did not enjoy your meal the first time, to try something different, because the things they do well are over the top fantastic. They smoke their own brisket and pulled pork, for example, and I can attest to the excellence of the brisket. We recently went this past weekend for brunch, and two members of our party had the breakfast brisket poutine. Gluten free. It was out of this world! We shared a mimosa flight, which really made the brunch special, and a very generous bowl of fruit salad. Leftovers made for two more meals! First time here today and we will be back! The pizza was just okay but i think that's due to me being a picky eater than anything actually wrong with the pizza (tomato chunks in the sauce and could overall use more salt? ). Dessert was amazing! I had the brownie sundae. My husband really liked his appetizer (shrimp) and his meal (fried chicken sandwich). Our waitress was very nice perfect amount of attention. Never had to wait taking our order or getting the check but also didn't feel like our party of 2 was a party of 3. my wife and I were excited about trying this brewery. we made reservations for two outdoors. when we got there they don't reserve tables as people just sit down. they finally seated us after 25 min. we then had to ask for a waitress to take our order. we ordered tow entrees and a beer. after waiting a total of 55 min and still no beer I advised hostess we were leaving. manager needs to close tables if they don't have waitstaff or cooks. read more
