We have been going here for around a decade, and unfortunately the quality of most of their baked goods and pastries has gone down significantly over the past couple years. Their bread is still some of the best around, and their staff are great. Ever since they rebuilt their entrance to be in the back, you have had a walk through a very unattractive alleyway that was used for trucks picking up the trash before it was converted to the entrance, and honestly, it has barely been converted. Today I got a chocolate chip cookie, and it was essentially flavorless. If you are looking for good bread, this is definitely your spot, but if you're trying to find anything else, I wouldn't necessarily recommend this **Replying to the owner** I seriously don't understand owners and employees on yelp who play victim when it comes to negative reviews. The customer had a negative experience, they describe it truthfully on yelp. Yes, the 3 star review negatively impacts the business, but ultimately, that's how reviews work, and you should take negative reviews as constructive criticism, and reply apologetically and constructively instead of being rude and defensive. As they say, customer is king. To your point that I didn't review your main menu focus sandwiches, despite your fact that a large portion of your building is dedicated to making bread, and no real area for putting together sandwiches. Either way, it wouldn't matter, the cookie I had was not great, and I reviewed accordingly. Responding to negative reviews in a defensive and rude way steers customers away from your establishment almost as much as a negative review does, if not more. read more

Food is great, but this establishment is still charging a 2% "Kitchen Appreciation Fee" that isn't reflected anywhere in the posted prices. Possible they have it posted in small print somewhere, but Massachusetts's junk fee regulation (940 CMR 38.00), enforceable since September 2, 2025, requires businesses to disclose the "Total Price" including mandatory fees "Clearly and Conspicuously" at the same point prices are first shown, i.e. the menu. Kitchen workers should make a fair wage! Let's challenge the ownership to courageously increase their kitchen staff wages, and transparently state any corresponding increase in prices. read more

I spend many years since I've been to this location. I was quite surprised at the upgrades that have gone on. They've really expanded their offerings and upgraded the facilities beyond belief for me. Absolutely excellent location to stop by on a bike ride. It's not far off the trail. Very relaxing spot if you want to sit outside and have a coffee and read a book also. If you want to wait for 45 minutes for one Reuben sandwich while they aren't even busy in mid-afternoon, then this is the place to go. Also go there if you want a 'kitchen appreciation fee' snuck onto your bill. I almost forgot to mention, while I was waiting, one of the several ladies behind the counter was listening to some background music that was playing and started doing head banging moves flopping and slinging her loose front hair all around and over the food where she was working. Pretty unsanitary. I have no reason to return there. read more

Parking is next to impossible-- one time we lucked out and found a spot on the street but twice we've just given up and drove further to go to Acton Coffeehouse. The one visit we went was average -- the espresso was good but they have practically zero gluten free options in food... my hubby got an adequate but expensive sandwich and I had nothing to eat as I am gluten free. Staff was rushed and got irritated because I guess I was asking too many questions trying to figure out if there was anything I could eat. Crowded atmosphere and customers aren't very friendly ... you get attitude from locals if you aren't from the town. I did enjoy sitting outside by the river -- that was nice... but all in all we've written the place off as not a place to go what with all the hassle trying to park and limited food choices for gluten free. read more

The staff are all super friendly. The espresso is absolutely the best anywhere in the area. They have a huge variety of sandwiches and if you don't see something you want you can custom order one. The soups change daily and they are all quite good. They have very comfortable seating inside and outside. The outside seats are right next to the Nashoba Brook. The location is only 200 yards from the Bruce Freeman Rail trail. It's great for taking a nice long walk after eating lunch. This is my favorite spot to stop for a latte and a sandwich or an iced tea with lemonade when it's too hot for a latte. BTW Nashoba Brook Bakery is AKA Slow Rise. read more

Ugh I really wanted to give this place 5 stars but... honestly i don't be back here. we got the following: - "for here, large latte lavender" - came in a 12oz gas station style paper cup. When I commented that I asked for a mug, and a large size, I got a look. I kept the paper cup... It was just okay. But honestly, that's just a latte. - matcha honey lavender - again, arrived in a similar cup and was good and smooth. - the "Mayor chocolate snail". This scam costs $7 so we expected a fresh croissant-like pastry. What a disappointment! I got last week's vintage (at best), refregirator cold pastry that we didn't even bother finishing. Popped into Nashoba Brook while waiting for someone at the hospital down the street. Food was so fresh and delicious. Fruit was top quality and I appreciated the love that went into my latte too! I sat outside and got some work done by the stream for a bit as well. Would visit again! read more

I asked the woman who took our order what was in the tuna salad. She replied that it was just tuna, celery, onion, and mayonnaise. Based on her description, I ordered a tuna sandwich. When I got home and unwrapped the sandwich, I saw that there were also pickles mixed in. Ugh! Failing to mention this is like failing to mention that there's a lot of cilantro in a dish. It took what would otherwise have been a pleasant lunch and made it completely unpalatable. read more

Nashoba Bakery is a hidden gem in Concord. It's the cutest cafe, somewhat hidden in an industrial park. The staff was incredibly friendly, which made my day. They have a ton of fresh baked bread to choose from, and they also offer breakfast and lunch options if you want a meal. I just got coffee and a scone, and both were great. I highly recommend their ginger and lemon scone. If I ever come back to this area for work, I will definitely make this a recurring stop! read more

At the time of my original visit, this business charged customers an undisclosed (completely unposted) "kitchen appreciation fee" markup of 2% on all sales at retail, which only appears on your receipt at/after time of payment. This fee is not listed on the menu, displayed at the counter, or disclosed verbally prior to the transaction, making it impossible for customers to give informed consent. Because it is automatically applied and not optional, this may constitute a deceptive and unfair business practice under Massachusetts consumer protection law (Chapter 93A). This is a sneaky way to treat customers. The food was good, but I cannot give more than 2 stars for this kind of hidden fees billing practice as it's unethical. If you want to raise your prices by 2%.. just do that. Don't tack on a hidden fee. **** In response to the owner's reply: **** I do plan to visit again in the future, and if the fee is disclosed as promised, I would be willing to give a 4 star review, but I still very much disagree with the practice of additional fees rather than the putting it into the price. I still object fundamentally to a separate fee structure in the same way I would object to seeing extra fees for heating bills, electricity and wifi on my bill. It feels like a dark pattern you see Comcast and Verizon engaging in on telecoms bills, and I certainly do not welcome it elsewhere. While this practice may be just legal depending on disclosures, there are still other ways to solve this problem, and the 2 stars is warranted for the lack of disclosure I experienced. If you would like better reviews, your practices need to change. Price and overall experience is part of quality, and I left with a sour taste in my mouth. You can pay the back of the house more to compensate for the wage/tip gap, and raise prices. I don't need a warm feeling about paying the BOH staff better at the expense of getting ambushed with a hidden fee. I'd much rather pay the higher up-front all-in cost and know what i'm paying for. More to the point: I understand the reasoning behind implementing the 2% kitchen appreciation fee, and I don't dispute your intentions. However, intent does not excuse poor execution, especially when it comes to mandatory charges that are only revealed after the point of sale. The issue is simple: there was no disclosure--none--prior to payment. The fee was not listed on the menu, not posted at the register, and not mentioned by staff. By the time a customer sees it, they've already paid or at very least placed the order. That's not transparency, and it's not a minor detail. It's a textbook example of a hidden charge, and I left my review accordingly. While I appreciate your plan to post signage going forward, the policy as it stood during my visit was misleading, and I still fundamentally disagree with the practice when there are other non-hidden-fees ways to solve these issues. A refund on request or an internal FAQ doesn't change the fact that your team failed to inform me or give me a choice. That undermines trust, and that's exactly the kind of experience Yelp is designed to help other customers understand. read more

Great coffee and bread. A welcome place to stop for as long as you like. Lovely view.

I've come here a few times and everything I've gotten has been delicious! The ambiance is very cozy cafe-vibes with both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is especially lovely because you sit right by the brook. The service is usually good, although last time I was there the woman ringing me up was pretty miserable. Just having a bad day I assume. Most recently I came for a mid-morning treat. I got their dark roast coffee and a croissant. The coffee is always good (I believe the brand they use is Karma Coffee) and the croissant was buttery, flaky perfection. I'm already looking forward to my next visit! read more

Very cool location and tasty food, though the service leaves much to be desired. Paid $15 for a sandwich online, patiently waited the full 35 minutes they claim it takes to prepare. When I went in to pick it up, my existence was completely ignored when I stood at the counter for five minutes, then I was told it would be right up. 25 more minutes passed and still no sandwich as I stood there, invisible. Asked for a refund, and the sandwich suddenly appeared. Definitely not worth it. read more

Great bread first of all! It has great options of flavors, and again the bread is great! Sandwiches for lunch are really tasty, friendly staff and good breakfast options too. Was a little underwhelmed by breakfast here, which is a shame since it's been on my list for so long and we drove out specifically to check out the breakfast menu. I got the breakfast meal with egg whites, spinach, tomato on wheat sourdough with the home fries and fruit, and just didn't love it. I was surprised that it came with only one slice of bread, which is maybe my bad, but it felt like with the price and it being a bread place that it would be a breakfast sandwich? The other thing was that the bread didn't seem toasted at all, and because of the ingredients, it was SUPER watery, so the bread be came really soggy and I honestly wasn't sure how to eat it. I tried cutting it in half and turning it into a sandwich but it fell apart, but I also couldn't cut it with a fork and knife (it's compostable cutlery rather than metal, even if dining in). There also wasn't any sauce or seasoning so it was kind of one note. I added a bunch of pepper and hot sauce which helped. At least the home fries were excellent. We also ordered a regular make your own sandwich with cheese and veggies and spreads, which was decent but nothing to write home about. Drip coffee was solid. We won't avoid NBB going forward but won't go out of our way to come back. read more

We've been visiting pretty much every weekend. The soups and sandwiches are delectable, the coffee and tea are both on point. Wow! We just found out about this phenomenal bakery that evidently many Yelp friends have already discovered and reviewed. We were on a mission to find a really good real slow rise sourdough bread. Surprisingly, our mission was accomplished. This bread which is baked fresh daily slowly rises by wild yeast from foraged Concord grapes. The company was established in 1998 and the dough is allowed to rise slowly for more than 24 hours. This exquisite bread is excellent, nutritious, handcrafted, and easy to digest. They use filtered water, wild yeast, organic whole wheat flour, and cornmeal to make this stone hearth recipe. This bread is free from any additives or preservatives and definitely a new favorite! read more

I enjoy coming to Nashoba. I like the baked goods, sandwiches. I do find the mochas very bitter and always feel I have to ask for more syrups to balance the flavor since it doesn't taste quite right when I order them. I kinda wish Nashoba would find an alternate mocha/chocolate sauce for mochas. The service is great and I do enjoy the ambiance and vibe of Nashoba. read more

To update my earlier review, I've enjoyed returning to this staple of my hometown every time I visit, which has become at least once per month. It's not really visible from the street, the entrance on the other side of the building next to a gas station, but it's on the Concord river and has a nice outdoor eating area down the walkway with greenery next to a bridge, which I believe is on the main bike path, so great place to stop. They're known for their wide selection of breads and great sandwiches, one of my favs being the "Factory 152": garlic bread, chicken, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and chipotle mayo. You can also customize a sandwich if you want which I really like. They've overhauled their menu a bit recently and I'm getting the sense they like to refresh their smorgasbord (I wanted an excuse to use that word haha) and shake things up. While most of the numerous latte flavors they had have been removed, they still have a couple mochas, caramel, and two new house made vanilla flavors! One from Madagascar and the other paired with lavender. This is an exciting development and the Madagascar one I just had tasted fantastic. If you see the bear claw pastry I highly recommend that. I think they're cycling different items through, with these delicious cinnamon vanilla pastries/breads the last few times I've visited. There was a little mixup over the holidays with a soup, and most recently I had the privilege of meeting the owner and received a replacement soup which was very nice and says a lot about what kind of place it is. All their food and beverage items I've had have been wonderful, and there are unique ones that I haven't seen anywhere else. Nashoba has a great reputation in West Concord and it's a place you should for sure visit if you are in the area. read more

It's hard to find but worth the effort! My very picky son had a "Build Your Own " sandwich with smoked turkey on wheat. He gobbled it up in no time and declared it was one of the best he's ever had. Nicely situated along the rail trail with a gorgeous outdoor are along the river, I like to come here during bike rides. If it weren't for this I wouldn't come in. I find the staff, unfriendly and unhelpful. Never a smile, a good morning or a welcome. The coffee is fine, probably the best thing about Nashoba. The bread is quite good but you can buy it at Whole Foods or numerous other places. The breakfast sandwich's are also fine, nothing fancy and made good mostly because of the good bread. I would steer clear of any of the pastries, I've stopped trying them because every one was as awful as the next. It's sad when one moment of incompetence colors an entire experience, but that's what just happened. 4-5* food, 0000* experience. We came and ordered and paid for $40+ of food, including one cream puff, which I wanted as a late birthday present to myself (my birthday was two days ago, and had been under-celebrated). All of our food, including things that needed to be assembled and heated, came out. I went back to the counter and asked about the cream puff. The person who had taken our order said "I'm going to get it for you." By that point, I could see that the two cream puffs that had been there were gone, and I was hoping that one was being boxed for me. A minute later, she returned and said, "I'm sorry, there are none left; would you like something else?" No. I wanted a cream puff, for my birthday, and at the time that we ordered and paid, there were two in the case, and getting one out would have been easy. Sigh. read more
