I've lived in NY for a decade so I've lived through my fair share of horrible apartments and even worse property managers. True Management is a gem. I lived in Williamsburg for five years and had the pleasure of True Management being our property managers. They were always quick and communicative with service and I appreciated the ability to pay rent online, along with any maintenance requests through their portal. Would live in another True Management property in a heartbeat. If there was a way to filter through which apartments are managed by True, I'd choose those over any other options. We have been living in a property managed by True Management for ten days. In that time, our washing machine has broken and almost flooded the apartment, our dishwasher was falling out of the island, our toilet has broken four times, and a section of our electrical grid has ceased to work, leaving us with no internet. Each time we have filed maintenance requests and called about an urgent issue, True Management has been entirely unresponsive, forcing us to call multiple times with limited to no response. This has meant that we have been without many of the essential amenities, like internet and a functioning toilet, that we are paying for as part of our lease. We are very disappointed in the inability of True Management to fulfill its basic responsibilities as a management company. Communication with True Management has been nearly impossible. We have had to call their urgent line multiple times, which is not an urgent line at all but is connected to an external call service with phone operators who are completely unable to help tenants or connect tenants to management. When we were able to speak with people from management, they asked US to communicate with the super to arrange service for the apartment, another task that should be their responsibility that they have failed to perform. Furthermore, inadequate communication prior to the move in meant that they had failed to clean or paint the apartment prior to our agreed upon move in time. Additionally, after we moved in we were informed that there was mold in the apartment that had not been remediated. We were forced to vacate the apartment on the day of our move in, which we were legally paying to reside in. Per our lease, we are entitled to an inspection of the apartment. In light of the many issues we have experienced since moving in ten days ago, we've requested an inspection. However, when we did so management complained about the cost of a mold evaluation and refused to follow up with us about arranging this inspection. read more

Any luck addressing a recurring issue? This is for one of your tenants at 155 Bedford avenue, basement flat. They need to be told that their behavior needs to be curtailed. They are aggressively loud at night in the backyard even during the weeknights and we have reported them to the local police station. As their property management, we are begging you do to something about this as it's simply unnecessary and unacceptable. read more

Trüe management's team was pretty responsive with maintenance requests and we had no problems during our lease. The online portal was very convenient. However, getting our security deposit back was a shitshow. Our building had changed management companies during our lease, which sure, makes things complicated on their end, but it took literally three months for us to receive our check (the right one!! mind u, they didn't make it out to the right person the first time), after multiple emails and phone calls dealing with their excuses and miscommunications. They're ok with the routine stuff, but at the end of the day, like another reviewer said... just another NYC management company that's going to make you fight to get your money back. read more

Robert and Gina are amazing. They aren't pushy or aggressive, unlike everyone else involved in NYC real estate. I submitted an application for a rental apartment with a significant deposit, and Robert and Gina were attentive to my questions and kept updating me throughout the process. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, I had change my application, which led to my application not going through. There were a few small repairs that we wanted to get adressed before we moved in and Justin communicated all of them to the owner and got them resolved in a timely manner. I agree with all of the other reviewers. We lived briefly as a tenant in an apartment managed by True. They (Ben and Robert and their staff) were unstintingly courteous and responsive. Any issues (which were minor) were taken care of promptly. They were a breath of fresh air, especially in contrast to the landlords we had before them, who were awful. A spot of happiness in an industry unfortunately not known for such. Modern tenant portal is very convenient for paying rent and reporting issues. Communication here is key - true management is one of the only management companies that i've had a flawless experience with while living in NYC. We had a leak in the ceiling, that they took 5 months to fix. They only fixed it after we gave our notice cos we'd had enough (even after withholding rent to encourage them to fix the issue). Can't say they were very nice in the process either, and they also sent workers around to the apartment without notifying us and didn't call back after emergency calls about the ceiling leaking profusely. I can't recommend them professionally, they and the landlord exhibited bully-like behaviour. read more

True Management has been managing our building for a few months now. Living in their building has been stress free. When we have an issue we submit it directly through their online tenant portal which keeps us up to date with the repair status. Paying rent is a breeze as we set up automatic ACH withdrawals. We also have the option to pay rent by credit card. Monthly exterminator visits are in order so we never have any issues with pests. Overall they do a great job... we love them! I used to think that owning and managing a multi-tenant building was too much work for me- too involved and too stressful. Just when I was considering selling my building, my associate recommended that I give True Management a shot at taking the hassle and headache of property management off my plate. And almost immediately I realized that I made the right decision. So I called on New Year's eve day in the afternoon, not expecting to hear back from True Mgt until Jan 2nd. I got a text, then a call on New Year's day from Tom. I asked if he could handle my condo building and he said that he could not. Then he invited me to ask him a variety of questions which he answered in great detail. After 20 minutes of his time and all my questions answered (including a recommendation) we parted at no charge to me. This outfit clearly aims to satisfy their customers. read more

I've been working with Rob and his team for a little over 6 months and it has been a pleasure.  They are always on top of their game and its certainly helps keep my mind at ease. About a week ago, we had a tenants pipe burst during a cold spell. True immediately notified me and kept me and the tenant in constant communication throughout the entire process. I recently purchased a property in Queens. Robert and his team referred me to a great broker to help locate the property and negotiate the asking price. A few months later I needed to do some work on my boiler to have it ready for the upcoming winter. Robert personally came to my house, helped me identify which parts of the boiler needed to be serviced as well as the steps to clean it. The total servicing ended up taking me about 45 minutes and saved me over $250 which is what boiler companies wanted to charge.
