Had the same experience twice in the last 8 years: every bushing, ball joint, and the rack is worn out and they can't do the alignment, so they have to fix everything for a hefty bill, then they'll perform an alignment. Even things that are in fairly good shape make the list of stuff to fix to pad the labor bill. I should have learned the first time, but I'll learn this time to avoid this place. read more

I have been using them for over 12 years. They mail and email me many coupons. I brought two Subaru cars: Crosstreck and Forester before installing new tires. Both were done. After a few weeks Crosstrecks' front tire was going bald so we went back. Additional work was needed which cost me additional $70 for the front wheels alignment. My forester front wheel was getting a lot of play so I went to get that fixed at another garage. Right front lower arm was worn out so it was replaced. It seemed like it was gone for some time so the front alignment did not benefit me at all. I went back to True Line hoping that they would honor it. New Junior boss (son of the owner) was very offended and was definitely locking in customer skills so I tried to use one of the coupons they sent me with post office markings on it. Not a chance. My husband came here first then recommended me to come here once I lowered my car. This place specializes in lowered cars. My husband's car was static & literally an inch or two off the ground. My car is not that low. But when I called other places to schedule appts for alignment they asked what was the reason I was scheduling for, when I told them because I lowered my car, they refused. Which I am glad Cuhs they could've just taken my money & ran w/ it. But they recommended I go somewhere that would better suit my vehicle. I scheduled an appt, went there w/ my son. Everything took about an hour. Small, old office but AC was blowing cold. They test drove my car, brought it back to align it, then test drove it again. What I love about this place is they align it manually specific to your vehicle. No machines, everything is done by hand. I got a discount when paying. They also provided me a list of recommendations since my wheels are slightly cambered. Customer service was great all around. We've been to True Line several times since the 1990s. We've been incredibly satisfied with each visit. On a recent visit, my regular RV servicer indicated I needed a couple of things done, including an alignment. I took our RV into True Line to have them look at both work items. They inspected my vehicle, and came back and said that I didn't need either of them. I thought this was indeed commendable. I brought my RV back the following week and had a steering stabilizer installed, and they performed the work for considerably less than our regular RV servicer would have, and I am totally satisfied with the work done. read more

I recently had my front end top to bottom replaced. . I took my truck into true line just for an alignment, no inspection. They did an inspection and told me I needed a new gear box and it would cost $480 labor and $480 for parts. how they came up with that I do not know. I told them everything was new. I reviewed my receipt from my mechanic and it stated a new gear box parts and labor was only $314. My mechanic rebuilt my whole truck motor and all and it runs like a dream. I would not recommend true line to anyone for they fish for work even if its not needed. read more

Took my 4runner in for a check after hitting a pothole. I knew something was damaged but didn't think they would recommend replacing the wheel bearing, knuckle, upper control arm, control arm bolt and a few other parts at a cost of $4,000. The only part that was damaged was the knuckle, bought OEM part for $200 and replaced it myself. Got it aligned elsewhere for $60. True line charged me $90 for the initial alignment check and was very polite when they prepared the quote- they'll rip you off with a smile. I took my car to True Line to get new shocks and struts and an alignment. After the replacement I noticed a strange noise when turning the steering wheel that wasn't there prior to the service. I took my car back and they spent two hours looking for the problem, but couldn't find anything. After another month and the noise progressively getting worse I contacted True Line again and Ryan had actually done research on the blogs and found out that my problem was not the only one and resulted from faulty parts from the manufacturer of a non-OEM brand they used. They ordered the OEM parts and replaced them with no hassle. The problem is solved and my car performs wonderfully with no strange noise! All the other ones did was put it on the rack, make adjustments and hand the keys back to me. LAME! TrueLine went and drove my truck 4 times after making adjustments before calling it good and it couldn't be more perfect. It's better than it was even before I decided to get my leveling kit. I can't thank these guys enough. They know what the hell they are doing and actually care... OH! And the alignment was cheaper than all 3 of the other places I had gone..one of then I had even bought on Groupon! I won't let anyone I know go anywhere else but TrueLine! I have taken several cars here, great service each time. I originally choose them when I was looking for a place that did vintage veichles. I recently did a break conversion and replaced the entire front end of a 1960s veichcle. I had it towed there for the alignment, they were great as it turned out one of the parts was faulty which would of caused diare conditions if dricen wirh it, and needed to be replaced. They stored my vehicle for the 5 days free of charge, it took for my to order a one year only part. They even changed the part for me. My most recent experience was just a good when I brought a new veichles to be aligned after getting new tires. They were able to squeeze me in their all ready filled day and have the car back to me in about an hour. The price is fair and service is great. read more

These guys are great! Had a new front diff installed in my JK Wrangler and obviously needed it aligned. The alignment job they did was awesome despite having a 4" lift with a lot of non-standard parts. Due to some leaky tire valves, my rear tires weren't holding air well and were almost flat, and they still got everything perfectly aligned! bought 2 tires and had the other tires rotated at Discount Tire in El Cajon. After we left, the car drove perfectly (but did have a small pull to the right) So,i had a coupon for True Line for an alignment. Took it to them the next day. Of course after it was done, they said it needed a camber and tie rod repair. We knew this. upon driving the car home, it shook like crazy. the steering wheel and under the seats. The alignment was fine, but the car is almost undriveable. i will be calling tomorrow morning, and i will be updating this after i speak to them. Right now, if i could give them a zero star rating, i would UPDATE: took the car back this morning. The guy said that the car is vibrating (yeah, thats why i brought it back).He told us what the original receipt said that the tie rods need replacing. why would they do the alignment in the first place? it seems to me that if an alignment isn't going to work, you would be honest and say 'look an alignment won't work until you get this repaired' I took my car on a drive on the freeway, and it still pulls SEVERELY to the right and still vibrates. so, i just emailed them a complaint and have given up. If you want to throw your money away another UPDATE: took the car in when the owner responded to my email about how dissatisfied i was. They did fix the pull to the right, but now the car still vibrates like crazy, its like riding in a truck. Now, they say the rear axle is bent. Funny, no one ever mentioned that before (and we've had it aligned at other places over the last 2 years. i will give the owner credit, he refunded my money for the alignment. But,l won't go back. it shouldn't take 3 visits to get something done. AND it was a different diagnosis each time. read more

I got a mixed review for you guys. I found True Line on Google and there sight had a coupon for $29.99. I got there early and they took my car and all, I went to get a cup of coffee and came back. The car was completed and I asked the guy how it was and he mumbled some BS answers to me. I asked him about the Camber and he said it was about 1 degree off. I could see the damn tire slanted in at the top. Then I asked to see the readings and there were none. He grabbed a piece of paper and wrote some stuff down. There were no before and after readings at all. I drove it down the street and the car drifted to the right. The steering wheel was not straight and the toe was OK. I think this guy was a total shithead mechanic and the boss did not care either. As far as I am concerned, they suck ass. I do not ever intend to go back there not even to make them do it again til its right. I will go to Express tire and have them align it for me. I just put new tires on it after they did the poor alignment job and now I have to go get it done again. Stay away from East County shops like this! They suck and have terrible customer service. If I did not have more important things to do with my day, I would have said something more than once. It is hard to believe the manager Hector looked at the camber and walked away when it was that obvious and I had to deal with his alignment guy instead. Peter P.S. Went yesterday for front alignment and found out they have new owners and they told me I needed Bushings and it would be $850. This is very unusal since my car is new so I went some place else and got a second opinion and they said the bushings were great and that the tire was bad.
