I needed a new car mechanic. The mechanic I had been using for years sold his business. I used the new owners and was very dissatisfied with them. I asked a neighbor for a recommendation. She recommended Caliber whom she had been using for 10 years. The office staff, Vicky and Sabrina, were very helpful and informative. The mechanic in his taking care of my car, found that a part in both of my rear brakes had been previously installed backwards, and corrected that. I had been noticing a sound when I was breaking, that might have been the cause. I plan to bring my car in to them to be serviced in 6 months. I was very satisfied. read more

Caliber Auto Repair - Auto Repair Near Me - El Cajon, California

I bought a used vehicle that needed a lot of work. Caliber Auto Repair was among several shops I called to get a pre purchase inspection. They are professional, kind, and organized here. They also gave me detailed photos and a broken down summary of all the repairs they recommended for my vehicle. They did not overcharge me and they were very communicative through the whole process. I never felt talked down to here. As a woman visiting a mechanic shop it can sometimes feel intimidating, but I felt very safe and well taken care of here. This has become my go to shop for any repairs needed. read more

Awesome Job, Jacob got us in right away for a smog. Fast, clean, very professional, grade A work. Will definitely be coming back.

My vehicle stalled a few blocks from Caliber Auto Repair right around closing time. Jacob gave me a lift back to my vehicle to help with the problem. He pinpointed the battery had issues then repaired it effortlessly. Jacob's kindness and professionalism while demonstrating empathy has significantly eased a difficult situation. I highly recommend Caliber Auto Repair for all your vehicle needs. read more

First of all I cannot rave enough on how wonderful this place has been! After needing a repair on my car, and needing a CarMax warranty repair facility, I searched forever and found the best reviews with this place. They are rated almost 5 stars for a reason. From the minute I called - I spoke to Jacob and he was absolutely amazing and understood I was going to be bringing my car in for repairs and that it was being towed in by AAA. They received my car and although they were busy until the following week they got on it almost immediately and had my car back to me by the start of the following week! Sabrina in the office was also super amazing and very helpful during all of this as well! Thank you again to the amazing team at Caliber Auto Repair for taking care of me in my car! read more

Our family loves Jacob and his team! Easy scheduling of appointments and consistent good communication throughout the entire repair. Jacob has gone the extra mile more than once to track down a part to fix a difficult to diagnosis problem. We have four older cars and Jacob and his team have kept them running on the road safely. We also appreciate Sabrina who runs the desk and helps the flow of communication. A trustworthy mechanic shop for sure! read more

I've taken my car there multiple times and have an amazing experience each time. Jacob and his team are the best. Highly recommend.

I have had an ongoing problem with my car overheating while idling. I booked an appointment for Jacob and his staff of mechanics to look at my car this Tuesday morning. I was impressed on how thorough and professional they were. They looked everywhere trying to determine where there was active coolant leaks. They will let you know everything that is going on with your car and don't try to sell you any unnecessary work. Also, Sabrina was very nice and keeps you promptly updated on what is going on with your car. read more

Thank you to Jacob and Sabrina for the work they did on my Corvette. It had quite a few leaks that were repaired and some other "gremlins" that might appear in a 40 year old car. Although they were not able to repair everything they were clear and fair in their efforts to repair what they could and the repairs that were done have made a difference in the drivability of my Corvette. read more

I can not say enough about this place! These guys are the real deal. Very honest and fair. They give their professional opinion on whatever the issue is with your vehicle. I would refer this place to anyone who asks. What a great shop! read more

I have been to so many mechanics, and have been ripped off and lied to. This is the first HONEST mechanic I have ever been to! I will never go anywhere else. I needed a place to check out my clutch, and report back to my extended warranty. So far Britany and Jacob have been such a big help and explained everything to me in simple terms. Instead of taking advantage of me because I am young, female and not too knowledgeable about cars, they told me exactly what's wrong and have done so much to help me fight to get it covered by my warranty. Jacob even offered to drive with me and coach me on driving my Dodge Dart (I guess they can be tricky and you need to know how to drive them). That is insane to me. The amount of help and kindness that comes from this place is amazing, and I am so grateful I finally found a mechanic I can trust. I also really appreciate all the updates Britany gives me. I'm so stressed about my car and if the warranty will cover this 3k+ fix, and she calls me every step of the way to make sure I know what's going on and what they're doing. Thanks guys!!! read more

Great service, great staff. Explained everything so that I could understand!! These folks are great with their communication and people skills along with there mechanical abilities! read more

Talk about great local businesses, Caliber Auto has earned my trust and business. Jacob and his Team take care of our fleet at Pride Plumbing Inc. They will always do the right thing and have your best interest in mind. They will always help do their part in keeping you and your family safe while on the road. In my experience, Honesty and Integrity are some core values that I choose to work with and associate with. This review is long over due and as a local business owner myself feel it's my honor and duty to let others know what I've known for sometime..... IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN HONEST MECHANIC, THIS IS YOUR PLACE. My brake function light came on my Ford Fusion and needed someone to check it. I rolled over to Oil Changers and they recommended me visit these folks at Caliber Auto. I am so glad they did. Jacob and his people checked my car for any issues I might have with my brakes. The code that came up had to do with communication with the E-Brake so they tested that and cleared the code for me. They found nothing wrong and NEVER CHARGED me for their time. They spent a good half an hour with my car. Also, Jacob is a very pleasant gentleman who kept me informed about what was going on with my vehicle as they looked at it. THAT IS TRUE CUSTOMER SERVICE. If my brake light comes back on again I'll be sure to come back to Caliber. I also will recommend them to anyone as well. I am super impressed and also grateful to them. Do use their services, Absolutely. read more

Had the motor in my service van replaced, Ford Econoline E150. Calibur was informative from the start and were able to replace the motor within 3 days. Very grateful because if my service van is down being a small business owner money coming in slows down and my customers get back logged. Great job and will be bringing all our families personal vehicles here for now on. read more

Caliber did thorough work and were very reasonably priced. They told everything that could be repaired on my truck based on importance and urgency. They were honest and I'll be going back to them. Thanks read more

This is the BEST auto repair shop. They are so honest and fair. I trust every recommendation they make because they are in business to have customers for life. I brought my Subaru by Caliber to diagnose what I thought was a transmission related problem. I could tell from the shop environment that the people that run it are good people. Not only did a mechanic drop what he was doing to go for a ride with me twice in the same morning, but also was very knowledgeable and instantly knew what the sound was that wasn't at all transmission related. Got some good advice for how to best approach the issue and will be taking my car back for service and upgrades in the near future! read more

Caliber Auto Repair is the most trustworthy and reliable shop in San Diego county! I have a 2003 model vehicle with over 250k miles on it. The guys at CAR have kept my vehicle in the game and without any issues. They understand my concerns and work with me based on them (I want to drive this thing forever :) ). Anytime I have a minor problem I can get in with them quickly and get an honest opinion of what needs to be done. They don't overcharge you with unnecessary work as other shops will. They let you know all of your options and deliver impeccable service with a high level of professionalism. I can't recommend these guys enough! read more

These guys are great. I had an issue with my truck being smogged and couldn't figure out what it needed or why it wasn't passing as there was no check engine lights on. Tommy took the time to actually explain to me what it needed and why instead of just saying "it failed, you need to get it fixed, I don't know what's wrong, have a mechanic look into it". Or, "well we can troubleshoot it here and charge you a fortune. Very nice people and extremely knowledgeable when it comes to vehicles. I definitely will be going back there even though it's relatively far from me, it doesn't matter. I had a few smog people fail me and just say "drive it, it hasn't cleared yet" extremely frustrating and these guys finally helped me get the freakin thing legally smogged. Awesome spot. Worth the drive if you're not that close to them.. I could have mine smogged "free" at another place as I had already paid them but chose to go here as the other pinheads were zero help. Thanks guys! read more

Always great service and price!! Jacob and crew are top notch technicians.

I definitely lurk in the shadows on Yelp and only reserve review-writing for exceptional experiences... Well, after our most recent experience with them, Caliber Auto Repair has inspired me to actually log on and share. It all started last year one of our cars needed some extensive repair. I called around to a few different shops listed here on Yelp, and ended up at Caliber Auto Repair... and boy am I glad I found them. Since then, Jacob and his team have been our go-to mechanics. They provide knowledgeable diagnosis, honest estimates, and repairs that they absolutely stand behind. It seems like car repair shops have it tough as many people don't trust them. People are constantly looking for that "honest mechanic" that isn't trying to screw them by performing unneeded, or over-priced repairs. Well, I found them and figured you might want to know about them. Just look at their reviews... Keeping a 5 star rating on Yelp isn't that easy! Bottom line: If you are looking for a trustworthy mechanic that provides top-notch service, give these guys a call. read more

WOW what a great team. I was greeted by Sabrina who was extremely friendly, professional and explained everything to me very quickly so I could continue on with my day. I received a call in a very timely manner with a quote and exactly what was wrong with my van. A huge thank you to Jacob and his entire team for getting me back on the road with in a day....I will definitely return.... read more

If you look at my other reviews I don't hand out 5 or 1 star reviews. There are a lot of things to consider when reviewing an auto repair shop; customer service, quality of parts, quality of workmanship, price, and overall experience. I can truly say all categories are five star at Caliber Auto Repair. This is my 7th time in and realized I should probably leave them a review. read more

If you are looking for honest, knowledgeable and fair priced mechanics, this is definitely the place! Both Jacob and Nick are all around awesome guys and definitely know what they are doing! Not only do they service all of our personal vehicles (and our boat too), but they also service our fleet of plumbing trucks too. I wouldn't have it any other way and am so happy to be able to depend on them! They continue to go above and beyond and never cease to amaze! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! read more

This establishment is amazing. Every staff member is helpful and professional, but they treat you like family at the same time. Jacob is very knowledgeable, as are the other mechanics. Sabrina is also knowledgeable and helpful. They do not over charge and properly diagnose your vehicle with recommendations and pictures. They do not try to charge you for work your car does not need and they are very honest. They will help in any way. I recently had a cracked head gasket and a shot transmission. They did not try to fix my car, they were honest and told be it would cost more to fix than my car was worth, but were willing to do whatever I wanted to do. In the end I ended up buying a new car, with the help of Jacob. I will always bring my business here and I will always refer people because I know it's the best service. read more

Never been to a car shop before that made me want to come back, whether it be due to unfair pricing, getting ripped off, them fucking up my car, etc. These guys always make me feel comfortable knowing they don't overcharge and are kind caring people. Sabrina has greeted me every single time I've come, and she is such a genuine awesome person! Plus the best part is they have their dog rocky there and he is always sweet and sits next to me so I'll always choose here! read more

FINALLY! A place I can REALLY trust. This review is soooo over due but Jacob and the team at Caliber Auto Repair always go above and beyond. They worked on my Ford Fusion a few times now. I truly trust taking my car here for any repairs. I encourage all those who are looking for a genuine and honest mechanic to come here! I'm a 24 years old women and I know very little about cars and frankly car repairs scare me! I know nothing lol but in alI seriousness this place is great. I emailed Jacob sunday morning about my check engine light and he responded within a few hours. You can tell this is a repair center who cares about their customers! Picked up my car this morning and I couldn't have been happier. This is my go to place, I highly recommend bring your car here. read more

Jacob is the best!!! He takes care of anything I need done to my car from regular maintenance to windshield replacements to smog checks and always in a timely manner! He is always on top of what is needed on my car and never tries to upsale me on anything. I recently moved to San Diego and was searching for a new car shop I decided to try Caliber Auto Repair. They are quick, and they always work around my 8-5 work schedule. I would highly recommend coming to this car shop! read more

Honest people and great work. I take my personal vehicles and my work vehicle. No other shop in town compares.

This shop was a fantastic experience, my 2013 F-150's sunroof wouldn't close and after the dealer spent 2 full days trying to fix it with no avail just recommended replacing the entire thing. A day later I found these guys and was extremely impressed not only with the service but the overall cleanliness of the shop. I was there for 15min max and they had the sunroof closed and had a quote for the total repair that came in wayyyy lower than the dealer. I will definitely be back to get it repaired asap. After speaking with their customer service rep and the owner you can tell they have a smooth running operation and care about the product their putting out. read more

I am so excited to visit Caliber Auto Repair's new location. We have been bringing our 15 year old Corolla to Nick for the past year when he was working from his other location. Although we live in La Jolla, we drive out to El Cajon for this repair shop because I trust them. They are always straight up about what needs to be done, they always buy factory parts instead of cheap ones. They believe that every repair should be high quality. They charge a fair price and their honesty has made me continue to come back. I will continue to visit Caliber Auto Repair, no matter where we live in San Diego county. read more
