Had to buy a used tranny from pick a part. When removed from the vehicle the mechanic I hired at the junkyard parking lot pulled the transmission for $150 (cheap). My friend Matt was storing his vintage F150 pick-up truck at my house for a while until he was ready to start the restoration process. First and foremost, the point of being in business is to earn money. Plain and simple. There are a multitude of ways to do it and Sparkys, in my mind, is one of the best shops out there because of a key thing called Service and Honesty. I called the shop and told them what I was experiencing with my car. We set up and appointment. Talked to the guy at the desk and answered his questions with the recommendation that he doesn't service my transmission. Because it would be a waste of money. Because of the car being so old and a few other problems. He could have done what was asked and had me come back in a few weeks, months or more and taken more of my business. But, he didn't and for that reason, when a different car is in my name, I'll bring it to them. And I'll recommend all to go here first. Honesty is key. Inflation is up. It's nice to do business with an honest quality company. I had a transmission service done today on my 98 Dodge 3500. I thought it had an issue with shifting and requested a diagnostic. After inspection it was determined there was not a serious problem. My aftermarket pan was installed with new fluid and it shifts great. I'm not a transmission expert but mechanically inclined. If I was told it needed a rebuild I would have likely moved forward with it. But it ended up becoming a simple fluid change. In a day where upcharging and needless repairs are commonplace, it's refreshing to have had such an experience. read more

John and the team there are top-notch. I took my 2011 F150 there after being referred to them by a friend who has used them in the past. My referring friend said Sparky's does contract work with CHP and Border Patrol, that made me feel better about their work. I knew my truck needed the transmission rebuilt. After calling about 6 different shops and taking it to 2 other shops for a diagnosis, I finally found Sparky's at the end of my search. Other shops I went to were only able to give me a range of how much it would cost, varying by about $1000, and even wanted to charge me almost $200 for a diagnosis. Sparky's was happy to diagnose the problem for free. John was able to quote me a maximum amount, which was still more than a thousand dollars less than the other shops I went to. After describing the issues I was experiencing, John had a pretty good idea of what the problem was and said he has worked on countless trucks that are the same year and model as mine. John is very upfront about everything and explains everything clearly and in layman's terms and does not talk down to you. He was very patient and willing to help when I tried to ask him questions to learn more about what was going on. He was able to give me a breakdown of cost for all of the parts and labor and was transparent about the entire process. He gave me a reasonable timeline of about 4-5 business days, called me every couple of days to check in with me to let me know things were moving along as scheduled. When I picked up my truck, he advised I come back after about 500 miles to ensure everything was still in working order. This shop definitely stands by their work. I just can't say enough good things about Sparky's. John was a savior during a desperate time and it felt good to finally find a shop that performed great work, was honest and didn't feel the need to take advantage of their customers. read more

This review is long overdue. I had Sparky's Transmission work on my car in December 2016 when it was stuck in 2nd gear. I was freaking out on what the cost would be and I am so glad I took it to Sparky's because I'm sure anywhere else would have taken me for a ride. John found an $8.00 pin that broke and I felt so confident with their honesty, I had them replace my clutch while they were in there due to my car is going in 10 yrs old and my clutch was still the original. He told me I probably had another 3 years with my original clutch but I decided to take care of it now. I highly recommend Sparky's Transmission for all my friends and family. Very important to know for any women out there, John does not take advantage of us ladies who may or may not know what we are talking about when it comes to our cars. He really cares. read more

My parents car was sent here from my mechanic for a tranny check. They called me and told me what they found. Told them I would have to talk to my father because it's actually his car. When I called them back to tell them my dad wanted to wait (it's a back up car) the owner was extremely kind and said if my dad had any questions he could call and speak to him. When I asked him how much I owed, he said "not a thing!" I was shocked I wasn't charged for hooking it up to the code reader-most places charge $85 just to look at your car. I was disappointed, I had work done and had issues while traveling to ca. Sparkys after I describled what happened opened the transmission. Explained to the other shop what it need to fix it and correct the problem. Didn't get 100 miles before I was right back to a shop in LA. Sparkys refused to look at it or have any part in getting the problem corrected at a shop in LA. I was told and I quote "I'm out of it and not touching it." They were paid to open find the problem and correct it. Instead I believe they fixed some of the burnt part and put it back together never finding what caused the problem in the first place.
