SD Transmissions performed a bench rebuild when I had both engine and transmission pulled and rebuilt after 400,000 miles. For several months, my truck ran fine. Suddenly, the transmission started up and down shifting for no reason-after racking 4,000 miles. I also got a check engine light, which was supposedly traced to a faulty speed control valve (or something similar to that). The truck has been sitting at SD Transmission for almost two weeks now, and they have YET to resolve the issue. The latest "solution" is they plan on pulling the transmission and rebuilding it. In the meantime, I have been without transportation for two weeks, using Lyft to go to medical appointments and DoorDash for less than desirable food. Based upon SD Transmissions recent performance, I suspect they work on my truck when they have nothing else occurring in their shop, and the fact that they only work four days per week isn't helpful Sadly, I'm expecting I will have to arrange for my truck to be towed to a REAL transmission repair shop, spend another $4000,a nd lose another week before I get my truck back! read more

For what it's worth took my Saturn Vue That would not shift while car was running for an estimate a couple months ago after four days they said That I needed a new clutch and it could be anywhere from $1,700 to $2,200 to fix it. SD Transmissions does not let me down at all!!! After going to them for my Explorer's transmission issues, instead of having to buy a new transmission, it was just a O-Ring, I need to get some transmission work done again. Bought a used F250SD and did not have a issues for about two years. I started feeling the truck slip every once and a while then one day I parked at my office and when I went back out to my truck to go home I could not get the truck in reverse. The shifter lever would just go up and down with a lot of play and wouldn't get into gear. I had to rev the engine really high for it to go in gear then it would jump really bad when it finally caught the gear. Took it to SD Transmission because they gave me a truthful diagnostic on my last car so I knew they would do the same for me this time. Turns out everything in my Transmission was slowly breaking and it would have only been a matter of time before I wouldn't be able to put it in gear at all. Vanessa got me checked in and work started the day I took it in. By the end of the day I had the results of their diagnostic. It wasnt what I wanted to hear. The transmission had to be completely rebuilt. Usually, I would have questioned this and took it for a second opinion but because they were honest with me last time and were very fair on the price I didnt have to go anywhere else. They rebuilt my transmission in a couple of days and I got my truck back. Vanessa and her crew are the best. I bought the warranty for the work they did because if you know transmissions you know they are VERY expensive and need a protection plan. Drove out of the shop with a "new" transmission and the truck ran great!!!! Few thousand miles later my shifter lever started having a lot of play in it. I had to slam it up to get into park. I could not put the shifter lever in the lower gears because it just wouldnt get down that far. I was in luck thought, my check up date/mileage was coming up so I made an appointment with Vanessa and she got me in the next week. When I got there (10am) I was greeted in the office by Vanessa who addressed me by name and not just another car to repair. She took my information and I let her know about the shifter lever. She said the truck would be ready at 3pm. 2:30PM I received a call from Vanessa saying my truck was ready for me to go pick it up. When I got there the truck was outside ready to go. Vanessa walked me to the truck and explained what they did during the check-up. She also explained how and why my shifter lever got the way it was and that they fixed the issue. In 2019, I visited SD Transmissions for the first time and although I only came with the intent to get a transmission service done, Vanesa and the team noticed something was off when they started my car and even showed me what was happening which eventually led me to purchase a new car later that day. After two years, I visited SD Transmissions again to get my transmission service done for my newer car and Vanesa is just as kind, reliable, and responsive as she was the first time I met her. I informed Vanesa I was concerned about some liquid leaking out of my car and after the inspection, she reassured me that there aren't any fluids leaking and she brought to my attention that I need to get new rear tires. First initial experience was great but the very end was absolutely horrible. I took my car to SD transmissions because I was having rpm problems and figured it was a transmission issue. I was told that an initial scan of my car would be 90 dollars and any other service with them that 90 dollars would be a credited towards those services (a 90 dollar discount). After the initial scan their employee Jeff (who was helping me all throughout my time there) told me they would have to take my transmission out and do a full check and it would cost 895 dollars plus the 90 dollar credit which would be 805 dollars. That was a lot of money but I needed to figure out what was wrong. After they did the inside check they told me it would be 2900 to fix. (mind my transmission did not need to be replaced) Unfortunately that was too much money for me and I decided to not go through with the services and just sell my car instead. I spoke with a junkyard telling them about my transmission problems and was told I would be getting 940 dollars since the car did still run. The day of pick up I paid Jeff and stupidly paid the 895 dollars without noticing the 90 dollar credit was not given (my own fault). After I paid , my business with SD transmissions was over. Before speaking with the junkyard employee Jeff took it upon himself to lie to the employee and say my transmission needed to be replaced and it was not drivable. I was never told this and would've discussed this with the junkyard while doing my appraisal. Jeff had no right to speak to this man at all because this was my own personal business not regarding him. Due to his lies i was only given 500 dollars. I lost 400 dollars which would've helped me with the almost 900 dollars I just paid. I was lied to and my money was stolen from me and put into a deeper financial hardship. I will never be doing business with SD transmissions ever again. read more

I AM SO DISAPPOINTED, UPSET AND FRUSTRATED!!! MY CAR IS 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY I got recommended to this shop from a mechanic that i know. We came on (around noon 07/15). After checking the code on my car, the lady who is introduced as Richard's sister as well as the manager of the shop, she said we had to leave the car there for them to check. I asked her that how long it would be coz i work far and need my car to get around. She said she didn't know.. HOW COME AS A MANAGER, YOU CAN'T ESTIMATE AMOUNT OF TIME (just to check the car).Waited for a couple hours then she called and told us that they would have to take it apart to analysis more. I put her call on speaker coz my bf stood right next to me. Both pf us didnt hear any of her words mentioned that it would cost $650 JUST TO TAKE IT APART TO ANALYSIS!! If i knew it would cost me this much just to check, i would take it elsewhere!!! We didnt hear her mentioned that so we said ok. Tues(07/16) we called around noon. She said they haven't done anything yet! They let my car sit there for two days. Finally, They called my bf around 4pm or so on THURS and told him that they would have to rebuild the transmission blah blah and it would COST almost $3700. My bf was leaving soon for deployment, and he worried about my safety so he agreed to get it fixed. Then, once i knew that I called the shop and i told them i didn't want to get it fixed. In my opinion, It's too expensive. Then she told me they would charge me $650 for not getting it fixed and just put the parts back. When i claimed that she didnt mention that coz non of us heard that info, $650 is a lot of money just to check on the car, she said that we missed listening????? Wth?! Not only me, but two of us! How come??? I called back on early morning FRIDAY (07/19). She tried to convince me to get it fixed coz she said "if you don't get it fixed here and take the car back, it will be the same problems and it will cost the same if u take elsewhere." I still said NO coz i would rather to buy another car! I asked her so what time my car would be ready for me to pick up. She told me that it would be ready on the end of Mon (07/22). She said they didnt have mechanics work on Sat, Sun close. my car wasn't not ready until the end of Mon, plus, my bf would have to leave on Mon afternoon, and i dont know much about car. So we had no choice other than getting it fixed there. I had to call her on Sat around 4pm and let her know i changed my mind. We came in and paid $1500 first on Mon morning around 10-11am. YES IT WAS OUR FAULT. WE SHOULDN'T PAY ANY PENNIES UNTIL THE CAR WAS READY.She told us the car would be ready by mid day of WED (07/24). Ok, we went to rent a car for me. It costs me $50/day. No calls to update anything. EVERY SINGLE TIME WE HAVE TO CALL THEM AND ASK!!! WHAT KIND OF BUSINESS IS IT??? I called again on WED (07/24) @10am. She gave me the same excuse that been waiting for the part?! HOW COME YOU TOLD CUSTOMERS IT WOULD BE READY BY MID DAY BUT MORNING STILL WAITING FOR THE PART???? She called back at 1pm and told me the vendor delivered the wrong part???!!!! YES! ANOTHER EXCUSE!!! I asked so when it was ready coz i had to wait and spent money on renting a car. I had to return it on Wed as well, this was crazy. She said "yea, i apologize blah blah". She told me the car would be ready by THURS. I asked what time. She said the end of THURS. I had to do extension on the rental car and waited again, no calls. I HAD TO CALL FIRST AS USUAL. I called @ 2pm and asked about my car. She kept lying (i assumed) that "the part was literally delivered 2 mins ago and i WAS ABOUT to call you". She called me again @5pm and told me that the car was not ready and told me it would be ready tmr morning, which is FRIDAY (07/26) and she told me she would call me AS SOON AS SHE GOT TO THE SHOP. I was trying to be nice and patiently told her that i NEEDED THE CAR coz i couldn't pay anymore for rental car, extension fee and i needed to work. I was hoping they understood and did a better job. BUT NO!! THEY NEVER CALLED ME. The shop opens at 8AM. I waited and waited. I had to ask for the FRIDAY morning shift off to wait.Nobody called. I CAME STRAIGHT TO THE SHOP WITHOUT ANY NOTICES. See what happened?! She was here. She was on the phone with someone else. SEE HOW THEY DO THE BUSINESS???? She told me that it would not be ready until 2pm. I am so done. Im sitting here , waiting here and writing this review for two hours. Guess what! While im sitting here at the shop, she told me that THE PART HAS SOMETHING WRONG and the vendor wont deliver new part until 2pm. Unfortunately my Tundra transmission took a crap after 325,000 miles. I love this truck it does a great job getting me and my dogs around town. I called SD Transmissions and spoke to Vanessa. I came in after running around in a circle with an auto shop telling me to get my transmission fixed. They were extremely nice and patient with me, and even diagnosed my problem extremely fast. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in need of transmission help. My car is really old (1999 mercedes) so it was really nice that the diagnoses was free (most places would cost me).
