I don't think they care about all of their customers. Transmission Experts wasted an hour and of half of my time and my boyfriend's time, as well as about $30 in fuel cost for us. I called about a week and a half ago, around June 1st, to schedule a transmission service for my car. This shop was recommended to me by a family member and this shop did rebuild the transmission for my car about 8 months ago, so I figured I would give them repeat business. When I called, I asked to make an appointment for a Saturday morning and made it abundantly clear that I wanted to make sure someone would be at the shop because I was driving from over 30 miles away. They assured me a Saturday morning appointment would work. Well, Saturday the 10th rolls around. I wake up at 6:00am on my day off to make sure I get through caring for all the animals on the property and leave with enough time as to not keep the shop waiting. I show up exactly at 9am at the the shop, and nobody is there. I called the number I could find for the shop, and the lady that answered let me know she was "really sorry and forgot to cancel [my] appointment, but I did cancel all the other appointments I had on the calendar today." REALLY?! You remembered to call everyone you had scheduled EXCEPT for me, the one who was probably driving from the furthest distance?! AFTER I made that clear when I set the appointment?! Your apology did not put fuel in our vehicles, nor did it get back the hour and a half we spent driving, nor did it negate the fact that I had to wake up at the crack of dawn on my day off to accommodate YOUR weekend schedule. I will never give this shop my business again, nor will I ever recommend them. Their property looks like a junkyard, to boot. I may pay a little more elsewhere, but I'll get the service I expect (which is the bare minimum for customer service. I don't ask for a lot). read more

Thank you to Freddy who got me an awesome price on auto trans service on my truck that was $200 less than dealer for same factory parts and better service. they showed me new part before installation and old parts after service was completed. Finished the work several hours before promised and now my 2014 8sRam 1500 shifts and runs like new again at 100k miles thanks to Freddy snd his crew!!! They actually drove it over 300 miles as you can see on the odometer i vrought in at 131 and when i got back at 132 wow!! They did that on my rngine and transmission, I had my car ! They used it for 7 days i assume tunning erranfs on it because if they didnt even replace my transmissiom properly and ran my car down! 350 almost !! WEAR and tear on vehicle THEY knew that when i got there NEVER showed me or sent me photos of those supposed metal shaving that probably a lie too. Seriously give me my money back...all bad now that i see they did more shady things like 350 miles on odometer and think they have a good business think they can get away with this. They probably did nothing to my transmission if i never saw thats how untrustworthy i feel of them. read more

I cant rate them properly just yet. I talked to a mechanic (Richard) told them how I'd seen their reviews on yelp and decided to give them a try on my Acura TL. They picked it up yesterday morning and so far everything seems to be going good. Great customer service so far. I'll keep everyone updated on how the results turn out. This shop has the old bait and switch technique, they advertise something and the the jack up the price or say that " your car does not apply" I found a Craig's list add for clutch replacement, parts and labor for 499., I call to make an appointment and they say "oh, your car does not qualify", the Craigslist add did not mention any qualifications, nor anything else for that matter. I first called and to get price for some work to be done on my truck and come to find out, after checking a couple other places the price was much better than the others. So I took it there and met the manager Richard. He was friendly and informative. Even with the phone ringing off the hook he even brought me into the shop and introduced me to his mechanics." Sorry guys can't remember their names " The work was suppose to be done in one day but they couldn't reuse some of the old parts and the guy from Autozone gave me the wrong replacement parts. I would highly recommend this place for any transmission work. My car broke down on the way from SD to LA, and even though it was outside the 50 mile radius for free towing from Transmission Experts, I asked them if they could still tow it for a flat fee, and I was able to get the car to their shop that same day (a distance of 95 miles) for only $150. After that, they took a look at my transmission and offered to fix it instead of rebuild it for a fraction of the cost I had anticipated. Their prices for rebuilds are also extremely reasonable. When I was asking around I was quoted $2400 and $2400-$2800 from two places, and this place quoted me $1400-$1800. So far, my car is running fine. If there is any further transmission work that needs to be done in the future, I will be taking it here :) read more

Hand Down, This is the most honest and reliable mechanic shop I've ever done business with. I had a transmission replaced in my BMW 5 series and the work was awesome. Freddy took the time to recommend critical things that needed to be taken care of along with my transmission replacement. Rear main seal, coolant housing, and many other things that will keep my car on the road for years to come. There were no hidden fees or charges...only an honest assessment as if it we're his own personal vehicle. Best part of all is that the total price was at least 1/3 less than what I would have paid anywhere else. I choose Transmission Experts to install a transmission and adapter in my 1957 Ford F100. What a huge mistake! To start off, they ordered the wrong part, which set us back 3 weeks. When I stopped by one day, I was horrified to find the truck COVERED IN GREASE SMUDGES! These scumbags treated my 1957 Classic truck like a grease rag. I wanted to take the truck back right then but, old trans had already been removed & the truck remained covered in grease until the day I picked it up. Initial work order-quote was $2800 & the job should take 2-3 weeks. Final bill was just under $4000 3 mo later. A huge difference w/ little no reasonable explanation. When I picked up the truck, my sub box and center console where gone. They acted confused as they did about just about everything, searched around their shop, then informed me that they had left the truck out in the ally unlocked & someone must have broke in. They offered my another sub box they had sitting around but, still inexcusable carelessness. It doesn't end there. They never secured the engine or readjusted the mounts after install so the whole engine was wobbling and twisting. The throttle linkage was making contact with the intake (simple adjustment), & there was a horrible buzzing in the column shiftier. Because the engine was moving the TV cable was never stable so, the transmission burned up after only about 300 mi. As a result, I had to turn around & have the whole transmission rebuilt and add the correct motor mounts to stabilize the engine and drive train. Work was under warranty but, I could imagine trusting them again. I found DR TRANS in Kearny Mesa who rebuild & re-installed the trans for less than $3000 & they did a fantastic job! Choosing Transmission experts cost me $4000 down the toilet. They are far, far from experts and ironically the most negligent and inept company I can recall ever have done business with. read more

AMAZING FIND!! These guys give absolutely great service, Brought in my Tacoma after the transmission died and these guys had it in and out in the same day (provided my own tranny). They quoted me the best price in east county and stuck to it. Even gave me the check engine code, and suggested a way to fix it for cheap, was able to just clean up an $80 part with a $5 can of solvent, so he saved me more there. I first found this shop on craigslist I've been coming here every since that was about seven years ago Freddie is the most honest and reliable mechanic I've ever met in my entire life he always make sure he gets me a good and fair price. Here's my story when I first went to Freddie my car wouldn't go in reverse I thought it was my transmission I took my car back to the place I bought my transmission and they told me I needed a new transmission and I needed to pay $4000 for it I took my car to Freddie when I found him on craigslist and it wasn't the transmission at all he fixed the problem for me and it only cost me $150 I've never been any place else since I couldn't believe the other place was willing to make me buy a whole new transmission I don't even think they will even look at my car I am so glad that I found Freddie on craigslist anyone who doesn't go to him you're just wasting your money I recommend to anyone and everyone that I see that best mechanic in town that I know owns transmission experts in El Cajon.. First time i had my 2001 mustang clutch done by them it was rattling and also damaged my side skirt of my car. Second time i went by to get it done they paid for my side skirt after some hassle and the clutch felt good for about 3 months. You can bet i wont be going back. BEST TRUE STORY YOU'LL EVER READ!!!!!!!!! These guys SUCK!!!!!! I Brought my truck in for a leak and service, they couldn't figure out that the dip stick tubing gasket was missing, I had to point it out for them to check it. Costs me over a hundred bucks to tell them their job! A Month latter after they say everything is fine besides the drive shaft link hook up ( A little locking clamp for a nipple that pops through a whole, like a cauter pin or latch) Basic part they don't have and still charged me for a service they couldn't complete! I still came back a Month latter, for a leak in my front seal...........they took it apart for $320 and told me they don't know where the leak is coming from (Experts?) And I need a rebuild for $1400-$1600......which is it? If your an EXPERT you would know the rebuild price right? Or they just rebuild with the parts in their shop, So could be alittle cheaper if they don't have all the parts?!!!!!!? WTF! I didn't want them rebuilding it, especially because they can't fix a leak and it runs fine besides that! So they didn't want to put it back together! They wanted me to take it how it was and get out of the shop? WTF again!? Because I didn't want them rebuilding it for an over price that they couldn't even give me a solid estimate for..... finally I got them to put it back together and they still charged me $320 for doing NOTHING but dismantling it and putting it back after several frustrating moments of horrible customer Service treatment. Once I paid and took off down the street to a Wal-Mart, a few miles away......on my way out, I go to shift and the drive link falls out again ( you know the one from the first time I was there) I picked up a clamp after the first time, but only it wasn't there! It was replaced with a badly cut 3/8 rubber hose for cooling transmissions or part of the emissions. If I could sue anyone in my while life, it would be them! It's been three Months now after putting NO leak or slip in and the truck is still running! DON'T get raped,,,,,,, oooops I mean ripped off by someone who has to prove them selves by calling them self an EXPERT? Nope not even close! Oh and on top of everything Plus how bad they SUCK, They pushed my Appointment Three times. I don't know if they were waiting for parts on other Vehicles or rubbing straws together hoping a part will appear with alittle shoe string. How can someone do nothing and make the Vehicle worse than when it first came in and than charge them for it? It's SO Facked up people can get away with bending others over so bad. We took the car on a 500 mile trip up to Northern California and the transmission went out again. Since the car was still under warranty, the shop sent someone up to us with a loaner van so that our family could get home. And the driver took our broken car back to El Cajon for us. After getting my oil changed at my "regular mechanic" one day, that mechanic told me that I was having transmisssion problems, and that they could fix it for around $1,000.00. I definitely went to other places to get estimates, yet only heard that it would be around the same price. When I walked into Transmission Experts, they offered to look at it, and then explained that my transmission was FINE! These guys were awesome. Good priced transmission repair and they physically showed me the liquid in my car vs what is is supposed to look like along with the procedure. These guys actually care about what they're doing and you can tell through their work and desire to keep the customer informed. When i first moved here I got a transmission fixed in Imperial beach, but my car had been running funny still. When i stopped at transmission experts these guys showed me the lack of maintence that the imperial beach company had done and showed me all of the parts of my transmission and replaced it well and now my car runs good. Bought a car with a known transmission problem. Didn't get tthe car towed there until after they had closed. I called their office and left a voicemail regarding the car being left in their parking lot. The owner called me back about 20 minutes later while I was already on my way home in my wife's car. He had actually gone to the shop and pulled my car in. Certainly didn't expect that! They verified the problem that I thought I was wrong in just over an hour, and had an estimate to me that was WELL under any other shop for the same problem. When everything was said and done, Freddy had taken my transmission out, fixed the problem, and reinstalled my transmission for $575. That was easily $500 below every other estimate. When labor ran long and my bill should have increased, Freddy told me not to worry about it and to just plan on paying the estimate. After they replaced my transmission Freddy called me and told me I had a bad CV boot on my left axle. He replaced it almost AT COST! Plus the axle came with a 3 month 3,000 mile warranty. If I lived closer to this shop, this is where my car would go for all drivetrain problems! The only issue I had, and really I don't know if it is an issue or personal preference, is that he REALLY recommended a rebuild for my trans. It was just a bad seal. While a rebuild would have given me slightly more confidence in my vehicle, it didn't seem necessary at the time. If my trans explodes in the next year I will write another review. read more

this place is a lifesaver. My trucks transmission went out last week, i had lost all forward power and could only go in reverse. thankfully i made it home and that same night i searched the internets for a transmission repair shop in san diego. My search came up with a few results but nothing really promising until i found this shop on craigslist. They advertised being experts so I gave them a shot. One thing i want to point out is that my truck is a toyota tundra and their transmissions are one of the most finicky and delicate transmissions out there in terms of fluid level and solenoids. I was worried the shop would be all talk but took the leap anyways. The next morning i had my truck towed up to this place. They are near Santee but still in the el cajon city limits. I was greeted by Vanessa who was crazy busy at the time. I couldn't believe the amount of work these guys had at their shop, their racks were full of vehicles being worked on so that eased my worries since a busy shop is always a good sign. Vanessa was very helpful with the repair process and explained to me how they would approach diagnosing the problem and would contact me prior to any major repairs. Fortunately I had an extended warranty that covered the damaged parts but i was hesitant since ive worked with that extended warranty before and they were such a pain in the ass to work with. Vanessa assured me they have worked with multiple extended warranty companies before and she would keep me updated on the whole process. I asked her for a time frame of when the work would be done, i was expecting a month or so but she actually said a few days depending on whats damaged and what my extended warranty would cover. I got a call the next day letting me know that they found the problem and my transmission was toast. Vanessa told me that she had contacted the extended warranty company and that they would be sending out an inspector in the next 24 hours. The dang extended warranty company didnt send someone out until near the weekend but since these guys are open on saturdays they were able to get an approval for a replacement transmission. I got a call on Monday from Vanessa letting me know the replacement transmission was on its way and should be there by wednesday. I was getting really happy since things were actually moving along smoothly. I got the call on wednesday that they got the transmission and anticipate having the truck ready by friday. WOW!! I was seriously impressed that these guys dont mess around! friday came and i got a call around noon letting me know my truck was ready. My wife drove me up, I went into Vanessas office where the poor girl couldnt even sit down she was so busy handling calls and signing for deliveries. When she finally got a breather she sat down and had me fill out necessary paperwork, i paid my deductible and she handed me my keys. Hands down best freggin repair experience of my life. Never felt pressured, never felt rushed, and they kept me in the loop the entire process. I will definitely recommend these guys to my friends and family. read more

So driving Close to 50 miles coming from North County through East county San Diego doesn't sounds very smart specially when u having a ford econo van with a broken transmisión that only makes 1st n 2nd speed and licks all the way when you put it on drive. Honestly I doubted for much that this shity transmisión was going to be possible to fixed. I couldn't afford a new one and two of the last shops I asked for a quote was my hole month of income :-( . All I can say is thanks to my brother Isaac for pushing me to take this risk to drive all the way down to El Cajon and to this dudes on this shop they not only solved my transmisión problem but also brought a friendly and very fair deal to my budget. Lets start with I'm decently handy with a wrench, but transmissions scare me. I can drop the pan and swap fluid/filters but when I see clutch material I start calling around. I Sent a message via Yelp requesting further information after seeing 'fast responder' and to my surprise I received a response in 30 mins! After sending a few of these to other companies I expected a few responses right away, but Vanessa responded clearly, with estimated prices, and very polite. (A week later and I still have not received the others responses) Because I pushed the transmission beyond when I should have, I opted for the reman transmission. I arranged the tow truck (which they offer for free) via Yelp messages and when received I was kept updated with the status 2x per day. These guys took apart the cvt transmission of my 04 saturn vue, and replaced only teh needed parts. Estimates elsewhere were around $6000 for a new transmission and other shops couldn't even get their hands on used ones, but the problem with used ones is its only a matter of time before they go out too, so replacing the worn parts with brand new ones is a more cost effective when compared to an entirely new transmission.
