I'm not one to complain, especially about TFK which is typically one of our favorite places. Quality control at this location has plummeted. I ordered the chicken sausage pizza, which I've really enjoyed in the past. What was brought to the table should not have been served. The size was only about 65% of what it normally is, barely had any chicken or sausage on it, and was overbaked such that the crusts were inedible. My guess is they ran out of dough and ingredients and just used whatever was left. I was with company and on best behavior, otherwise I would've sent it back or asked them to take it off the bill. read more

This is my third True Kitchen experience, but first at Reston. Checking in for the reservation was a on easy and friendly experience. We were able to get a table outside and the server was present to the table quick and also helpful with the menu. It took a very long time to get our drinks (prickly pear and watermelon lemonade) and the server recognized that. Although waters were provided in the meantime it was difficult to get a refill. After finishing a couple drinks we still hadn't got our appetizer, edamame guacamole. We checked our online bill and realized the order had not been put in. It was difficult to get our servers attention and at that point we just asked her to forget about it since our food was hopefully on the way. The burgers came and I was starving! Unfortunately, the burger was over cooked. I asked for med and got well done. Like super well done - grey white in the middle with a very firm texture. My husbands was the same way. See pics attached. The server also never came back to ask us how or burgers or if we needed anything. We just ask for the check and paid through the app. There was a table that was present before we even sat down. At the end of our meal, after we had paid, they still hadn't had their entrées delivered. They were hungry and their kids were very hungry. It was very unfortunate the service was so slow. read more

My wife and I were joined by my sister-in-law and her husband for dinner last evening. We've eaten there several times that started soon after they opened this Reston location. We also have found that the quality of the food has declined since they opened here. To be specific; the lasagna this evening had too much garlic. The butternut squash soup had too much honey in it which made it quite sweet, and my ancient grains bowl had grain in it that was not cooked enough to be chewable. As I said; this is a trend that shows that there needs to be a change in the kitchen. On a positive note; our server Javi did a good job of meeting our hopes for good food. I was presently surprised by this place. The inside is very spacious and nicely decorated. I made reservations in advance and was promptly seated upon my arrival. I ordered the Lasagna Bolognese. It was excellent and a reasonable portion size. I chose this resturant because I am someone who watches my weight and is conscious of the things I eat and portion sizes. It was easy for me to eat out for the night and enjoy a meal I didn't feel guilty about after. The service was good. I would come here again. read more

My husband and I sat at the bar at True Food Reston and our dinner was better than our recent stay at a 5 star . I had the salmon entree and my husband with steak. The bartender Chris went out of his way to make me the water melon spritzer which was only on the brunch menu and not the dinner. This kind of service is going beyond what's expected. Terrible food and service! I use to like eating at the one in Reston Town Center, but lately it has been really bad. All the entrees ordered were cold and the waiter didn't come by once to check on us. We had to keep asking for water. He brought a big pitcher for us to refill. I ordered the harissa chicken pizza ($16.50), lasagna bolognese ($19), and herb hummus ($10.50) from this location for pickup. Because this is a "healthy" restaurant, I expected the food to be lackluster but was pleasantly surprised. The harissa chicken pizza was my favorite dish; it was delicious (5/5)! It had generous chunks of chicken and a nice garlic flavor, and you can get two meals out of it. The lasagna bolognese was also good (4/5), but I don't think it's worth the price. The herb hummus was good as well (4/5) but was nothing special. The pitas were really thin, which helps with calorie control I guess. Visited Memorial Day Weekend on a cold and rainy night with some friends. To start, we got the edamame dumplings and charred cauliflower to share. The portion sizes were tiny for the price, and while the food was good, it was nothing memorable. I will say the dates in the cauliflower was weird, and it would've been better if they were left out. For an entree, I got the grilled chicken and mozzarella panini. The tomato sauce was definitely the star of the dish as it was delicious and the broccolini was interesting--but not in a bad way. However, it was so so salty!! I love salt and have no problem downing chips and queso over at Uncle Julios, but this dish kept me chugging water all night. Our waitress was so kind and great about splitting the check, but there was some confusion over the QR code ordering and the food came out all at different times--a few of us waited a good 10+ minutes for the others in our party to receive their entrees. Overall, I thought my meal was fine, but I don't know if I would recommend it or return--though I have heard rave reviews about their brunch. Had lunch here yesterday for their soft opening and I was blown away by the food. I've eaten at the TFK in Merrifield before so knew what to expect, but I was even more impressed at this location. Ordered edamame dumplings and tuna spring rolls to start. The dashi broth and dumpling filling was so light and flavorful and delicious. Tuna was impeccable and loved the crunch from the variety of veggies. Mains were the lasagna with turkey sausage (couldn't believe it was under 500 calories!) and the chicken sausage pizza. I would order both again and again. Staff was very attentive and friendly, and yes I know they were all on their best behavior bc it's the soft opening, so I'm hoping they'll keep that up when they launch. First off, I am UPSET that I just found this amazing place 5 days before I relocate to another state :(. I had THEEEE BEST TIME. This was a best friend catchup dinner and we wanted healthy, fresh and good food options, while searching we found True Food. Everything and I do mean EVERYTHING was delicious - even the complementary water (I'm not exaggerating). The customer experience was 10-stars, our server, Grace, she was funny, engaging, and attentive - she shared excellent recommendations and we really enjoyed our time there. You know it's a good time when you stay until the restaurant closes. I will be telling everyone that I leave behind in VA to give this place a try you will not be disappointed. We had cocktails, appetizers, entrees, and dessert (the full experience) and I'm glad we did. If you read this review, do yourself a favor and visit the True Food Kitchen location in Reston - be sure to ask for Grace and I promise you will be glad you did. I've been a fan of the True Food Kitchen menu for many years, but I'm writing today because the service was exceptional when I went for brunch the other day. Our waitress, Virginia, had a wonderful disposition and was very kind and helpful. Most of all, I was thoroughly impressed with the General Manager, Rian. He was a pleasure to be around from the moment we walked through the door. When one of the entrees I ordered came out too spicy for me, he suggested a delicious alternative and then removed it from our bill. After dessert, he insisted that we try a new muffin on the menu and brought out a sample. His presence was like a big hug from a good friend. And the customer service was exceptional! read more

Starting with the host station offering to charge one of our phones at host station, the True Food Kitchen was an experience that was a perfect end to our extraordinary visit to Virginia! The Food was as delicious, fresh, and beautiful. We enjoyed the roasted corn flatbread and it did not miss a note and I am a native new mexican. The tuna bowl superb and steak Cobb salad perfection! Desserts and drinks also off the charts good. (Key lime tart and strawberry cheesecake crumble; spicy pineapple margaritas. Our server Javier was an exceptional server and took the time to review the menu and make on point recommendations to us. Our bartender Kevin mixed well- balanced drinks and came out to talk to us on the patio about our drinks. The desserts were the recommendations from Javier and did not disappoint. Javier and Kevin went above and beyond to visit with us personally, took a group photo with us, and made sure we enjoyed our experience. Amazing!! This is our second night in a row here and it does not disappoint. Our sons (6 & 4) love their pizza too. I got the poke bowl both nights and it's possibly the best thing I have ever eaten. I came in again for a pickup order this time hoping to just enjoy the food and avoid the bratty manager. We decided to get the turkey burger- IT was delicious- and the Korean noodle bowl, which i had gotten before but it came out completely different this time. Once again the service was awful even for togo. I arrived at my estimated pickup time and waited for 15 minutes before anyone even came by the to go counter. When i finally talked to a server?
