I love how they change their menus for each season even if they took off the chicken broth!!!! The pumpkin soup was exquisite. We were upset not to habe been told about the tasting tower (saw it on table next to us). It looked delicious. My sister and I ordered lunch delivered, so my review is on the food only. I had the chicken wrap with a side of roasted potatoes. Bland and overpriced for the portion you get. My sister had the chicken teriyaki dish and it had an overwhelming charred flavor that wasn't good. Neither of us finished our meals. I don't get the hype of this place. I have had True Food Kitchen on my Yelp bucket list for some time. The ambience is amazing whether indoors or on one of their patios. I crept in Less than an hour till closing I didn't feel rushed. I went ahead and placed an order to go since it was passed our girl's bedtime. Best possible service I could have received. That was between 4 employees as they were rotsting the take out counter which still was busy after 9pm. They will make you anything anyway you want it to make it work for you on the menu. Very accommodating and so friendly. We went with the Good Earth Kale Cobb and the Chopped Salad. My husband had a Sparkling Raspberry tea. We added chicken on our salads for an additional $5. You get a half of chicken breast. Oh my goodness I have to say the chicken was delicious. One of the best in Arizona. Thick, tender, flavorful and simple. Salads were small. Cucumbers and pickled jicama were generous. Not much lettuce and the rest of the toppings were sparse. After taking a look at the 2 salads and a drink and the $48 tab plus tax which was just under $60 I was bummed. They have something special here, just not enough of it. read more

I am a real True Foods afficionado and eat regularly at the one near me in Southern California. I guess I've just been spoiled, but my experience at this TF was pretty different. The restaurant itself is really nice (except for the bathrooms which were a step down from most gas station bathrooms), and the service was stellar, but the food was completely meh. My husband and I both got the soup/half salad combo for lunch and both were just really not good. The salads tasted like they had been sitting for awhile in the refrigerator, and the butternut squash soup was overly sweet and had a weird aftertaste. Absolutely one of my all time favorite spots, and still continues to find a way to impress me more! This is by far my favorite kale salad of all time, so when I'm craving it, there is only one place to go. But recently when we go, we've been trying some of the other entrees that we've always ignored and this time, we liked our other items maybe more than the kale salad! This time we wanted to try the new seasonal flatbread - it was my favorite of the evening, and our server suggested the mozzarella and chicken panini. Such a great location. Many regulars come here so the atmosphere is like a family. The host does a spectacular job of greeting everyone by name and is so happy it's infectious. This is so rare these days when staff turns over so often. The food is great. Just don't come for pizza as their crust is bland and the cheese is not crispy. I hadn't been there in many years and was excited to try it again but left very disappointed. Service was good but the chicken was so overcooked and dry it was almost difficult to pierce with a fork. I really like most things on the menu but seem to always come back to the same items. I recently decided to venture out and ordered something different and I got the cauliflower. I thought the harissa tahini and combination of dates was delicious. My all time favorite menu item is the ancient grain bowl, absolutely delicious. This place is great for casual lunch and dinner. We started with the tuna starter, it had this cream that was so good!! The portion size itself was super small, I think we both had two bites and it was gone (there was only two of us). I ordered the salon and omg so good!! The flavors were amazing! The salmon was cooked just right! The service was really good! Stayed on top of everything. We sat outside in the shade and we were right underneath the heater and you could feel heat radiating off the heater, the server said it was off, so we moved and it was fine. I have eaten several times at this location, often getting the green chili turkey burger which is good. This time I tried the Korean noodle bowl with added salmon. The salmon was great, perfectly cooked; however the noodle bowl was a big disappointment as it was 95% noodles with only a few green spinach leaves and small shreds of carrot. Even the Shitake mushrooms were minuscule, not like the photo on the website, and I am not sure they were even shitake as they were shaped more like baby Bella's. The bowl was $15 and the salmon was an extra $10 so this was a very expensive meal with not much veg. My other issue on this trip was that I was dining alone and the hostess really wanted me to sit at the bar or a high top even though it was the middle of the afternoon and they were not full at all. I find that this is common with single diners, they either want to shove you away in a corner or put you by the bar. The host should be trained to ask where we prefer to sit first. Often single diners are on business and are prepared to spend and also tip well so we should be treated the same as everyone. read more

Good looking food doesn't mean it tastes good. I know people are raving about this place and yes the food looks amazing but what I tasted was ok. I probably didn't get to taste enough, but what I tasted made me want to go and eat a zinburger which is right next door. I had the antioxidant sparkle drink which really looks amazing!!!! Beautiful, but it tastes like poison! No, not that bad but when my vegetarian friend tried it, even he said it needed SUGAR or something. I couldn't finish it. The butternut squash soup was ok. Nothing incredible. I wanted to move on and order something else but no, I couldn't do it. Why does healthy food sometimes taste so bad and is expensive? Yes, as good as it gets. I have had this place book marked for a long time and finally had a chance to visit. I am glad to see they seem to be popping up everywhere -- well, at least "opening soon" and I hope they are all as good as this original(?) location. Unless you start reading into the ingredients the first feel I got from the place is that the menu is pretty "normal". I think everyone coming here will quickly find something to their taste to order which is wonderful for a "healthy" destination. For us the novelty of being here also meant ordering a good sampling of what interested us. Butternut Squash Soup, Roasted Beet & Goat Cheese Flatbread, Edamame Dumplings, and maybe something else I forgot to start. For me the main course was the Lasagna Bolognese - fennel chicken sausage, mushroom, organic spinach, lemon ricotta, herbs. To finish dinner Squash Pie and the Flourless Chocolate Cake sealed the deal. Yes, the pasta in the lasagna was gluten free, the flatbread wasn't on "bread", etc, but everything was done in such a way that it did not matter. They did not try to duplicate texture, feel, and look as much as they just made wonderful dishes that everyone would enjoy having coming here. Even dessert, which is something I rarely order when out, was wonderful -- and not the crazy portions that seem to have become common when dining out. Bottom line, yes, I am now a huge fan and if they duplicate the quality elsewhere I will be posting similar reviews wherever I can find one near me. As a final note the alcohol menu is pretty extensive too. Not that booze doesn't mix with a healthy destination (regardless of the debate as to what it does to your health) and here you will be happy across the board on that front to enjoy many options to choose from. read more

This has been a must stop restaurant for me anytime I am in the valley for its gorgeous modern ambiance, healthy food, and great service. You can tell that their meals are made with high quality ingredients by the way you feel afterward. Also, props to the restaurant because they didn't serve my drink with any straws! 1st time at this location, been to Scottsdale Quarter a few times. Biltmore locale was MUCH better: way less kids, loved how the kitchen was almost IN the dining room, and bright environment. Food was just ok; had the chopped salad w/tofu added as a protein. I think I counted 6 small cubes of tofu, total. My cousin asked for extra snap peas for her salad; she was brought literally six 1/2 peas in a ramekin. We both looked at each other and laughed, our moms would have never stood for this! Service was excellent despite it being super busy during a Wed. lunch rush. Tables are CLOSE to one another so be ready to overhear everything, but if you know that going in, you'll be ok. I may go again if I'm in Phx. but chains aren't really my preference and Phx has a lot of independently owned restaurants that are more appealing (to me!). read more

The turkey burger, which was once seasoned so perfectly, and included actual slices of avocado, has evolved into a flat patty with a green spread and unripened tomato on a listless bun. The hummus and pita bread, which used to be soft and fragrant smell of flour, now is a chewy dry bread. As usual, service was superb. Our favorites on the menu are the vegan double cheeseburger, vegan pizza and teriyaki quinoa bowl. You can not go wrong with anything on the menu. I've been to different locations tried many different dishes, it is just mediocre, everything seems off or doesn't go well. I understand restaurant's wanting to offer classic dishes with a new twist and I love the healthy concept but it is poorly executed. Nothing is amazingly flavorful or like wow. I go here because it's convenient and better then fast food or eating at home when you want a quick lunch. Their website is broken for online orders because they don't remove unavailable seasonal items, causing errors. Calling in helped, but they still got items wrong off their own menu and took forever to fix it. When we pointed out the issue, they dismissed us instead of listening. The pretentious attitude made it clear they see feedback as complaining rather than a chance to improve. Good food, but not worth the hassle. read more
