Wow!! If you're looking for a spot with good vegan tacos , this needs to be a place you try! The reviews were great, so I decided to give it a try. When I arrived, I was greeted with a warm welcome, and they asked if I had ever been there before or if I was a returning customer. I told them it was my first time, and the staff immediately said, "Yay, we love first timers!" That warm hospitality got me even more excited to try the food. They explained the menu and gave me some recommendations. I ordered the birria tacos with crispy French fries, and they were delicious! The melted vegan cheese, seasoned jackfruit, and all the flavors came together really well. The ambience was great too. Good music, clean space, and they even had Bible verses on the wall, which I loved.
This review covers two visits to Tacos Veganos. During our first visit three weeks ago, we ordered three cauliflower tacos, a side of fries, and three flautas with double rice. On our second visit yesterday, we opted for two cauliflower tacos, a surf and turf burrito, and three flautas with double rice. I must say, the food is consistently excellent! However, this isn't the place for those who lack patience. It's clear they take their time to perfect each dish and infuse it with flavor. The service was wonderful, and the atmosphere is quite relaxing. As someone who enjoys meat, I can confidently say that Tacos Veganos is a great choice for anyone seeking vegan options. Whenever I crave Mexican-style vegan food, Tacos Veganos will be my go-to spot. Having visited twice in just three weeks, I can see this becoming a regular haunt for me. While the indoor seating is limited, it's been fairly busy each time I've been. They also offer outdoor seating as well. Overall, I highly recommend this place for its ambiance and delicious food. I will definitely be returning!
I was so excited to go to Tacos Veganos after reading all of the amazing reviews. I took my mom here on a Friday evening around 6pm. I was glad we got there when we did because shortly after we put our order in there was a line almost to the door. It is counter service so you kind of need to know what you are getting and everything looks so yummy it was super hard to decide. I got the AZ burrito with birria, which is made with jackfruit. It's meant to be like pulled pork. It was huge and very messy. They tortilla was very rubbery but the filling was good and I think there were French fries in there? Maybe that is what makes it an AZ burrito? Overall the flavor was good but it needed something else like beans or guac. It just tasted very one note. Also I got the horchata. It was delicious. My mom got the surf and turf taco. Again the tortilla was tough to eat so she got a fork and a plate and tore into it. This one had the "asada" soy steak and then breaded and fried pieces of cauliflower. The fake meat was not that good. It was too salty and so was the rice. The cauliflower although tasty was so big it was hard to eat. Overall it was good but not as amazing as I had wanted it to be. I likely won't go out of my way to come back.
Wow. This food was sooooo good. I've been waiting to try a vegan quesabirria for the longest time. This was definitely worth the wait. I can't even put into words how good the food was. The cheesecake was delicious. It didn't taste like those packaged cheesecakes that come from the freezer. The service was kind and friendly. Well done! I will definitely come back if I'm ever in the area again. Thank you!!!
Such a solid taco spot! The staff is super friendly, and the vibe is chill. Everything I tried was delicious. The asada taco, quesabirria taco, and sope were all really good. The horchata was refreshing, too. Even if you're not vegan, don't sleep on this place. The food is really good and I'd definitely come back.
The cauli baja taco was amazing and the special (tacos de papas) were so good too. My son and I were looking for a vegan restaurant after our first choice was closed. So glad that happened otherwise I wouldn't have tried this place. So worth the change in plans.
Nice option if you're looking for casual vegan Mexican food. It was really busy when I came Saturday night but my friends said it's usually not so busy. I got three tacos - asada, al pastor, and pollo. The "meats" all taste the same but they were good and well priced.
Absolutely love the food here, you would never know it is fully vegan. I have gotten multiple things in the past including the tacos, nachos (with homemade tortilla chips), the flautas, and the amazing AZ burrito and have never been disappointed. Especially love the AZ burrito which is HUGE! The staff are always quick and friendly. Very casual spot with both outdoor and indoor seating.
Here's the updated version: Tacos Vegonos is hands down the best vegan Mexican spot I've found, and I'm picky! Growing up on San Diego taco shop street food, I have a high bar for Mexican food, and this place hits home in a way nothing else around here does. The selection is unbeatable -- there's literally nothing on the menu that isn't good! I used to eat here one to three times a week. My work schedule changed and now it kills me that I can't get out as often, since they're in central Phoenix and I'm out in far East Gilbert. But trust me -- this place is absolutely worth the drive. The birria is my go-to on anything, and I'll often do a 50/50 split on the nachos or the fries -- both are killer! I remember when they were just a taco truck, and the food was amazing then too. Moving to a brick-and-mortar didn't change a thing -- same incredible quality, same fantastic customer service every single visit. Worth your money and worth the trip, even if you're not vegan! It may not be the healthiest ingredients, but the flavor more than makes up for it. Go taste it for yourself -- you won't regret it! Want me to tweak anything else?
This was my first visit to their brick and mortar location! My friend and I wanted to grab a late lunch/early dinner and were in the area. We were greeted warmly as we perused the menu. I was initially considering the burrito or nachos but then I saw they had a few specials. I'm a sucker for a taco salad, so I ordered that with pollo (chicken). My friend got some potato tacos and birria sauce to take home. Note: they charge a 3% credit card fee, which I didn't notice until I got my receipt. Our food was prepared in a timely manner and we grabbed a table in the back next to the bathrooms. Which btw are both gender neutral, which is nice. They also have outdoor tables, which I've sat at when this spot was a burger joint. My taco shell seemed to be on the smaller side but it was filled with lots of ingredients like beans, pollo, guacamole, onions, sour cream, lettuce, and tomatoes. It tasted great and the taco shell was freshly fried (no old oil aftertaste). The pollo was cooked well and had good flavors. I love that everything here is vegan and that there's a variety of items to choose from. I'd love to come back and try more things!
Fun casual spot for tacos with tasty "fake meat" options. They have a few types of fake meat made of soy and one made of jackfruit. I got the "chicken" taco which was tasty. They made a list of top vegan burritos, but I didn't have the chance to try a burrito. I wouldn't mind if they added a few healthier options to their menu.
Came here with a vegan friend on Friday for a late lunch and absolutely loved it! We arrived just before rush and since I couldn't decide what to order, I ordered all three things I was looking at: Abia taco, a cauli Baja taco, and the AZ burrito with " Carne Asada". In the time my friend i dined at the restaurant, so many people came and went. They do have table seating and a large menu you can review upon walking in. After that, you can order at the counter countertop and find this place to sit. I got a red and a green salsa, both paired well with my food. The burrito was also huge & the horchata was one of the better ones I've tried! The flavors were on point and I would definitely go back again! I think this is a really good spot for anyone, even if you're not vegan.
First of all, appreciate the thought of a vegan restaurant in Mexican food. Being a vegetarian this is the chance to try multiple Mexican food choices. We tried taco plate with 3 different meat substitute options. Overall food is pretty good. Decent ambience and clean maintenance. Service was quick.

Absolutely delicious vegan Mexican food. Saw this place while visiting from out of town and had to try it. Very clean dining room with nice music. Food came out in a good amount of time and the employee who took our order was very friendly. Even my non vegan mother loved her food. read more

I am so happy I found Taco Veganos, now I feel like I can still eat good being a vegan. They have amazing taco's here, they even have Birria tacos, that are phenomenal! The customer service here is great and they usually make your food really quickly, they also usually have specials going on if you want to save a little money. I have nothing bad to say about this place, it's perfect to me and everything I have tasted here has been exceptional, even the cheesecake.. IT'S ALL VEGAN! ABSOLUTELY Give them a try! I tried the special, it was 5 tacos and a drink for like $12, it was so worth it, I could have eaten 5 more, this place is so good! read more

I just had food delivered to my hotel and I feel bad because I think I got someone else's nacho sauce in my order! I got the massive Arizona burrito with birria and it's delicious! I also took advantage of the special taco plate and got two chicken and one asada. Also so delicious! Both salsas were also really tasty. I really wanted to try the birria ramen especially after reading another yelper say the noodles were good. I'll have to wait until the next time I'm back in Phoenix. A year of loyalty. Hundreds of dollars a month. And when I finally needed them to step up, they didn't even try. $70 for four burritos, and what showed up was mostly rice and beans, a fraction of what I paid for. I gave them the chance to make it right. Their response? Indifference. No apology that meant anything, no fix, nothing. I've spent $125 to $150 here every month for over a year, not because I had to, but because I wanted to. That kind of loyalty should count for something. Instead, when I had a legitimate complaint, I got treated like I didn't matter. That's on them, not me. I'm taking my money somewhere it'll actually be appreciated. read more
If I'm taking a food trip to Phoenix this is first on the list. I got the AZ burrito - the tortilla was so good/soft - like classic Mexican style tortillas not the rubbery kind - and the burrito itself was huge, with lots of fillings. I also got the horchata which was so yummy, no grainy texture and had a nice cinnamon taste. The staff was also very nice and answered all of my brother's ingredient questions (yes EVERYTHING is vegan). All the salsas they gave were too spicy for me but the food had great flavor and wasn't dry so I didn't need it. One thing to note is the tacos de papas are hard shell tacos not soft. I also got an order of birria ramen to go, and there happened to be a BOGO deal so we got 2 ramens. They were thoughtful and gave us the noodles and jackfruit birria in two separate containers. I had it the next day and it was also very good - I especially liked the type of noodle or how they were cooked. read more

I'm not vegetarian or vegan, and I can't wait to come back here! I had the potato tacos from the daily special.. so good. My husband and brother went with the classic AZ burrito, and everything was a hit. I've got to say, the burrito stole the show. Everything was full of flavor, super satisfying. Whether you're plant-based or not, this spot is worth checking out. read more
I have been wanting to try this place for quite some time so I met a friend here for lunch. I ordered the pollo (soy) street taco and a Burria (monkfruit) street taco along with a side of beans. Service was friendly and quick. I really enjoyed the pollo taco and would order that one again in a heartbeat. The texture is just perfect. I wasn't a huge fan of the birria, the texture is great but I could taste the monkfruit - it was ok, just preferred the chicken. I added a bit of the red hot sauce to the baked beans and they were yummy. Prices were reasonable and will bring hubby back here for taco Tuesday soon! read more

Having had a not so great experience with vegan tacos in LA, we had apprehensions before we went there, but let's just say we left this place with plans to come back the very next day even in the short time of our 24 hour visit to Phoenix We ordered House Tacos special (4/5) - this is a 3 taco dish with a choice of 'meats' with three of the four being soy based and the 4th being jackfruit birria. The taste was great and portions were generous. Each of the 3 'meats' had a distinct flavour with portions large enough that we made 6 tacos of the 3 double tortillas. There was a side serving of rice and beans which also made it filling. Loaded Nachos (4/5): another great dish that was truly loaded. Like the house Taco, there's a choice of two meats which makes combined with the generous portion is pretty filling. If in Phoenix, don't miss this vegan delight! read more
After reading and hearing glowing reviews from my fellow Yelpers, I knew that I had to take my husband here. For over the last 12 months he has pretty much refrained from eating beef, chicken or pork. As someone who has become newly lactose intolerant but not vegetarian, this spot sounded attractive to me. There was quick order service at the counter of this casual eatery. I selected "Asada meat" and he ordered "pollo birra." You then pick your own table and wait a few minutes until your number is called. When getting your items, be sure that you receive the two house made salsas. We both agreed that they made all the difference in the taste of our AZ burritos $13.99. The taste went from just okay to extremely tasty! These large burritos filled with white beans and soy meat were good but really heavy on the rice and fries which felt unbalanced to me. The onions and cilantro mixture were flavorful components but more of the vegan sour cream and guacamole would have enhanced this $13.99 dish. Margaritas, beer, Mexican bottled Coke and fountain drinks are available for purchase. I would visit again and try their tacos. I'm happy we finally made it to this popular place! read more

My Latina friend that is vegetarian told me about this place. I started watching some of their funny social media videos before I made my first visit. Tacos Veganos is the place to go for vegan street tacos. I got their taco plate on my first visit here and was instantly hooked. One of the things that I love about living in the Valley is that we are blessed to have great tacos here. Tacos Veganos is definitely up there as one of my favorites. The food is just as flavorful as tacos with meat. Tacos Veganos serves tacos, burritos and combo plates. The jackfruit quesabirria tacos are one of their highlights. The jackfruit is cooked in red chiles and other spices for many hours and topped with vegan cheese and onions. For drinks, they have agua frescas, sodas, horchata and alcohol. This Tacos Veganos location is on Indian School Rd in Arcadia. Arcadia is home to some of my favorite places to eat in the Valley. Even if you aren't vegetarian, check out Tacos Veganos and allow yourself to be surprised how good their vegan tacos are. They are just as good as meat-filled tacos. read more

This restaurant has been recommended to me a couple of times by some friends and family. The service was really quick and efficient! The rice and beans were amazing, although I wish the portions were a little larger. I never had birria before, and I wasn't a fan of the flavor, so I feel as though I can't give a well rounded opinion on the dish. The potato tacos were absolutely delicious, and I hope to order some again the next time I dine here! read more

Came here for dinner and finished my dinner absolutely satisfied. We order the Arizona burrito with asada and a quesabirria taco. We ordered a side of consume and queso and everything was absolutely spectacular. The restaurant is casual order at the counter and sit. The staff is friendly and quick. I'm so happy with this meal and so excited to come back. Would have no idea it was vegan if I wasn't aware. read more
