One of my favorite healthier chain restaurants. This was a new location for me to try, but as expected, everything was great! We dined in mid-afternoon when it was a bit quieter. I like the restaurant layout and decor. It's always a great vibe when dining indoors and equally chill outdoors on the patio. The food is always delicious. Grass fed burger and kale salad totally hit the spot. For the first time, I tried the lavender matcha. I enjoyed it, but thought lavender flavor could have bern a bit stronger. I like how they have seasonal menu items. The dumplings were made with white truffle oil, dashi, thai basil, and sesame seeds. It had a cheese-like quality to it the way ravioli would. They have a kids menu as well. The bad: It was sunny outside and hot. First time dining at True Food Kitchen, Century City on a Saturday night with the family. Great atmosphere and large open space inside the eatery. Plenty of tables and chairs for dining. The place was not as busy on a Saturday so there was no wait time for seating. The hostess took us to our table as soon as we arrived. Great customer service by our waiter. We informed our waiter that one of our family members have food allergies to peanuts and tree nuts. They made sure to let the kitchen know. When the waiters brought out our food, they informed us that the Jambalaya Pasta was peanut free and nut free. They assured us it was also free of cross contamination. During this dinner we ordered Jambalaya Pasta, All American Burger, Grilled Chicken & Mozzarella on Sourdough Panini, Lemon Oregano Chicken Wrap, Teriyaki Quinoa and Tuna Poke Bowl. The food was good and well prepared. The vegetables served were fresh. The burger was tender and medium well. Jambalaya Pasta was flavorful and had just the right amount of sauce. Grilled Chicken & Mozzarella on Sourdough Panini and Lemon Oregano Chicken Wrap, the chicken were both tender and not overcooked. Teriyaki Quinoa was good and the Tuna Poke Bowl was yummy and fresh. Food was OK, service sometimes great, and the environment was just right. With so many places at the mall that can be in the middle of everything and therefore overly crowded with shoppers, or at places that have a huge following, it was nice to find a place a bit more under the radar. TRK is all the way on one end, so you either find it right away, or you have to seek it out. The menu has lots of variety, with many things that sound promising and/or unique. We tried two burgers and a winning appetizer. The appetizer was probably the most interesting thing we had. EDAMAME DUMPLINGS (white truffle oil, dashi, thai basil, sesame seeds) have a good Unami quality to them. Flavorful and easy to share, there are about 5 or 6 to an order. The flavors pop nicely. Though our first glasses of water were fresh and cold, it took awhile for a refill. It also took awhile for the appetizer dish to be removed. It stayed with us (empty) throughout our entrees. The two burgers we tried were fine. A little underwhelming but not bad. The ALL-AMERICAN BURGER (Verde Farms organic 100% grass-fed beef, aged white cheddar, TFK special sauce, butter lettuce, tomato) was nowhere near the medium rare requested. The flavors seemed a little hard to distinguish - maybe too much going on in the burger, or perhaps a bit more care was needed in the execution. Similarly, GRASS-FED BURGER (Verde Farms organic 100% grass-fed beef, roasted wild mushrooms, caramelized onions, organic arugula, parmesan, umami sauce) was served more medium well than MR. Kind of a smash of flavors that seemed buried by an average tasting burger. The kale salad I got as a side was a welcome shot of life. Bold and crisp, I was a fan of that. With plans for afterwards, there was no dessert or coffee this time. I might return, and I do really like the overall layout here. All the food here was incredible! The service also was very attentive. I wish they validated parking as it can get quite pricey but their service was quick. They have so many veg options it was hard to choose! Our favorite dish was by far the edamame dumplings - So so good! The mushroom pizza was good too though I'm not a huge fan of wilted spinach. The halloumi and watermelon salad was good too - the watermelon sweet and the halloumi nicely charred, just wish there was more in there! I wanted to take my dogs out to lunch and ended up at True Food Kitchen at Westfield Century City last Monday, March 23. I've been to this mall many times but didn't know this place existed as it was a little difficult to find but we found it! The overall experience was pretty good. I did feel a little weird about the guy greeting us when we walked in for a table----it was empty as it was a little before 3pm and after their lunch rush. My roommate and I walked in with two dogs (one in a stroller). He asked if it was just us two and then asked whether we wanted to sit inside or outside. I told him wherever we could sit with our pups and he said 'There's not that much shade outside.' I repeated that I had my dogs with me and pointed to them and he led us outside. He gave us a table that was half shaded and there were maybe two other parties scattered on their patio. When the server greeted us, we asked her if it was at all possible if she could move the umbrella just a little bit to give us more shade (no other tables were using it) and she did it with no problem. Our server (I can't remember her name and I'm sorry for that) was excellent. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. She gave us great recommendations. I ordered an order of air fried fries to share for the table and I was trying to decided between a couple of things but ended up deciding on their Jambalaya and got a side of shrimp and a side of chicken for the pups. I ordered an iced tea to drink and that was refilled promptly. Portions are perfect, flavors are clean, prices are reasonable. I finished everything and felt very full by the end of the meal but not gross. I'm kind of upset I didn't know about this place before. My dogs very much enjoyed their time----the location was very peaceful. On the website and other photos I've seen of the menu for True Food Kitchen showed photos of a lunch menu but when we asked, this location only seems to have one all day menu. Not an issue, just to be aware if you were looking at one of their lunch menus and thought something on their looked good. I've been to Westfield Century City countless times and somehow never realized there was a True Food Kitchen tucked inside the mall. I'm glad I finally gave it a try! I always look for restaurants with outdoor seating, and True Food Kitchen has a great patio area that's perfect to eat together with my dog. I ordered the All American Burger, and it was absolutely delicious + perfectly juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. I also ordered an extra unseasoned patty on the side for my little dog. It's not as juicy as their other locations, maybe it was just for that day. Nonetheless, the flavor is still very good. Patty is seasoned well and the veggies are fresh. The side mac & cheese goes well with the burger. Nice and cheesy. I also ordered their salmon salad, which was by far my new favorite in addition to the OG burger. If you need a food spot or bar with TVs to catch some of a sports game, True Food is an excellent (and possibly the only) option for you. I had a Lucy Liu Q&A at the AMC at Century City Mall and HAD to quickly catch the end of the LA Rams game with 30 minutes left. Thank the heavens for True Food Kitchen! I was able to belly up to the bar and watch my guys clinch a Playoff spot. The staff was friendly and great the whole time, with one guy knowing wassup as we quipped about old man Rivers being back in play. The grain bowl last night was missing pesto so we asked the server if the chef could put some on the side. We ordered the watermelon and halloumi salad but would not order again. The cheese had grill marks but was cold. The slices were only 1/8" thick. It was like eating shaved Parmesan. Watermelon was fresh and juicy. The Century City location has a fun vibe and friendly staff. In spite of it being not so crowded, they accommodated our request to sit on the heated patio (another restaurant that shall not be named at the mall didn't do this even though all their heaters were clearly on). We went on a Tuesday evening and were told about the week day dinner duos, which I was excited to hear about. We both opted for the half market salads as starters and then salmon for one entree and the poke bowl for the other. With a sulfites allergy we were able to swap out the dressing for the salad but for some reason the kitchen didn't fire both salads at the same time. So while three dishes came out at once, one salad was tardy (our server George was apologetic and did discount the late salad). I was glad to have very healthy, sustainable and tasty options and would love to try to go to their happy hour in the future. read more
