I found out about Truce Spa from a Groupon offer many years ago and have been going ever since. I have seen Phuong and Amber for facials and Thuy for pedicures. The facials have been one of the best I have ever had. Thuy, by far, gives the best pedicure ever. I have gone in there with rough, dry feet and come out looking amazing. I love the intimacy of this spa versus one of the bigger ones (not to mention any names). They use the best of products and everyone is always friendly and welcoming. Visiting Bellevue from out of state. First time at Truce. Sign in was easy and smooth. The locker room is very clean, very nice. The robe and slippers provided are very nice, though not particularly luxurious. I've had more luxurious elsewhere, but for my purposes, not needed here. Massage room was clean and neat and there was a lovely tray of massage oils presented to me. I chose lavender. The massage table was heated. Nice touch. I have been getting massages either once a week or once every other week for years. Patrick is, by far, the best massage therapist I have ever known. We've been going to Truce for over 5 years, and it's one of the best places on the Eastside. The staff is always courteous and friendly, and the massage therapists and nail technicians are very good. They use the highest quality Epicurean products, and the place is inviting and very peaceful. They offer annual, and semi-annual plans. Yesterday I went for a Tropical Massage at Truce and it was AMAZING!!! Everything I had hoped for and more! My masseuse was Mila and she was incredible and so sweet. She focused on my right shoulder which I had sprained last year and it feels so much looser and less tense now. The other staff were amazing too, including Megan at the front desk. I received one of the longer robes but I could see how others would think the shorter robes that I saw some women wearing were too short. The cucumber water was refreshing and they also offered hot tea. The rooms were nice and the massage table was comfortable. They also had a relaxing and quiet lounge room. Truce needs to revamp their online booking system to better service to out of town guests. Instead of a real system, they try unsuccessfully to communicate via blind email from a generic website and are completely ineffective. I would recommend using Yuan Spa (a block away) where they have very good service, late hours, and a direct, online booking system. read more

This review is overdue. I love Truce, if you can make it past the flaky, awkward, often unwelcoming front desk staff that is. Much like the 1st episode of a soon to be cancelled sitcom, you'll endure painful banter, ignorance and confusion by the front desk staff but if you can make it through you will enjoy the best facial of your life with Phuong! She is so kind, talented and skilled. I started seeing her while pregnant, and she treated me like the growing, swelling goddess I was - recommending safe products and having patience while a squirmed to get comfortable like a tall, leggy person on a long haul flight from San Francisco to Dubai. Good experience. They opened early to let me relax in the lounge area before my massage. The massage itself was amazing and never felt rushed. She focused on my problem areas but still gave other areas plenty of attention too. It was great. I really don't spend much time in Bellevue but will be back to this spa soon. I have been to many spas both in the area and when I travel and I have to say that this one is definitly in the top three. The menu has a tropical feel to it offering facials, mani/pedi & massage. I went in with my husband and had the romance ritual in the couples suite which the most memorable part of my spa day. It started with a full body massage and then a full body turmeric scrub with yogurt application. After we went and took our shower (which they went and already had the showers turned on with a fresh robe waiting), we went back in the room and the massage therapists gave us a jasmine lotion application. After the first part of our day we enjoyed lunch in the lounge which was ordered and waiting by the time we were done. We then went for our facials and ended the day with a couple of pedicures. Overall the spa was fabulous, tranquil and everyone so attentive and caring that we felt like we had been on vacation for a week in a Bali by the time we left. I will be back soon. read more

I tried to use a Groupon at least 3 weeks prior to the expiration date. First I was told I could not book appointment on weekends because that time was reserved for hotel guests, that currently there were no openings between when I called and the date my Groupon expired. I left contact info so the staff cound contact me if there was an open time slot. I called back every few days and different staff said the weekend was not reserved but there were still no openings. At the time my Groupon expired, their best offer was I could now book at the regular price of service, in other words pay the difference between the cost of the Groupon and the service price. Is that a bargain? I didn't get the impression the spa wanted new customers and the staff were not very well informed on their policy. The Groupon businesses I have dealt with extend the time frame for obtaining the discount when there is an availability problem. Truce should have done this as a courtesy, expecially considering I contacted them well ahead of the expiration date. I may be just one potential customer but Truce lost my business. read more

My hubby and I celebrated our first night away from our baby with a spa day! I would give 5 stars for great facial and great massage! Chris was amazing, calming and a true professional. The massage was so relaxing! The beds are really comfy and the blankets were so cozy! I felt completely calm by the end. I had to downgrade due to the mani/pedi, which I would have given 1 star. First, she was 30 minutes late to our appointment, so I was just sitting there with my feet in the water while my hubby was seen right away. When she finally showed up, she spent 5 minutes slowly cleaning in the back. There was no apology for being late, which was extremely unprofessional. She then very slowly started doing the pedi. At this point, my hubby was done with our couples appointment and went to the waiting room (which is so relaxing) until my appointment was done. It took 2 hours for my mani/pedi! She was sooooooo slow! She then told me she was late to work because she just lost track of time and then couldn't believe it had already been 2 hours and then left as soon as the last nail was painted because she had 3 hours to kill before her next appointment and complained about being at work. I will never come here for nails again and I don't recommend them to anyone. Plus, my nails got super funky later that day and look bad :( read more

I had a weird start to my experience at this spa but it ended great which made me rate it high... I was surprised with a spa day which started with a facial. Facial went well but after I was finished I was not directed on where to go (to get my next treatment). I ended up dressing all back up and going to reception only to find out my next treatment was in 15 minutes with a different person. At this point I was pretty unhappy and my relaxation was completely gone as I had to go back into the change room and change back into a robe again. But THENNNN I met JERICA, who is by far one of the best massage therapists I have ever had. She has a warm personality and she was thorough but not redundant in her presentation before we got started. We talked the entire time of the massage which was kind of nice because I didn't pay attention to the tough spots and knots she worked out. She definitely has the hands for this type of work and she knows exactly where the pressure points and tight areas are and how to release them. She seems very knowledgable in her work and is passionate about making sure you leave feeling relaxed. Highly recommend seeing her and I will be back when I'm in town again! read more

They use expensive products and have great customer service but now that I'm at home, it's kind of disappointing to look at my hands. Can I give them half a star?? I went in with friends for a manicure. My friend set up an appointment for us TWO WEEKS IN ADVANCE for herself and the three of us joining her. Upon arrival, we learned that my name was not in their reservations... and she made the reservations so early?? It took the receptionist up front 5-7 minutes to get us checked in and probably said everyone's name at least twice in that time. Not only did they have no real way of solving their mistake, I had to wait until everyone else was nearly finished to even start just getting a simple manicure because there was only one lady working! I got a half-assed nail job and the one color I liked they were out of. I FULLY resent paying full price when she was obviously rushing to get me out for her next client. I will NEVER recommend this place for nails. High prices, low satisfaction. read more

I bought a signpost coupon to come here for a shellac manicure w/parafin. Hein did an above average job on my nails - I do french tip on my natural nails. The coupon cost $30 for a $60 service. That was fine, but they charged $20 additional to remove my old shellac!!! I've never seen this before. Plus $9 for the french tip. Usually $5 elsewhere. So in total I ended up paying $60 for a shellac french manicure, which would have been $90 without the coupon. WAY OVER PRICED!!!!! Will not go back. Much nicer places out there for wwaaayyy less - about 1/2 that. Then the tip... One thing that bothered me was that in the nail room, there were these two built in bench like things against the walls that were covered with tattered, messed up old carpet. Replace that carpet please. Not a very classy thing to see. For such a simple thing, you would think they would have repaired that long ago. Plus the pedicure chairs are just regular chairs. No massage :( One thing about the manicure... she didn't go completely to the edges and you could see growth after only a day. She didn't paint in so to allow for grow out. Also there were quite a few bubbles. Now that drives me crazy. Over all acceptable but not for that price. I would expect perfection for that price! Oh well, many other places out there to find. 9/7/12 - update - they have refunded $10 to my card. I have no idea why, but maybe they read this and saw that they charged too much for the shellac removal. I mean $20 really! Still way overspriced, but a nice surprise. $10 is $10. read more

I am pretty gracious in general but this was expensive and not what we expected. I took my Mom for a late Mother's Day gift. Reception was great. The gals doing our manicure and pedicures did not know what we ordered so did not have all the services I expected. Mom and I both wanted shellac nails but they only had one tech that could do those so only one of us could get that done. We were supposed to have parrafin wax on feet and hands and they did not have it communicated to the techs. The pedicure sinks seemed a bit dirty when they ran the water- gross...The techs were very sweet girls but seemed undereducated in customer care when I brought up the fact they didn't know about the services we expected, they didn't try to compensate in any way. Mom and I were so glad to relax that we just went with the flow. Beautiful space but would not recommend- sorry Truce... read more

He did a quick intake interview to learn my trouble spots, checked in with me on the appropriate pressure and remembered everything i told him. 90 minutes flew by and i was more relaxed than I've been in a long time. Truce Spa provided me with the best massage experience I've ever received. I cannot remember his name, but that masseuse had long curly hair and an aura that glowed. He made 50 minute Massage feel like 1 and a half hours. I never felt like he was rushing it, and that he was totally focused on giving me a truly wonderful experience. One of my favorite moments was when he used the bars above to use his feet. He provided a comforting conversation and vibe through out. I went into this massage very stressed, tense, and anxious. When the Massage ended, I felt so relieved and very grounded. It felt as if his techniques not only healed my physical ails, but his positive energy helped heal me mentally, emotionally, and spiritually as well. If I ever have the chance to go back, I hope he will still be there to provide such a wonderful experience again. I'm truly grateful for the healing that he provided and I highly recommend this spa. read more

First let me say the customer service PRIOR to our service was good. I scheduled appointments for 4 people (myself included) for my best friends 30th birthday. The Birthday girl got a massage and scalp treatment that were both incredible. That's where the good service ended. A friend and I got shellac manicures. Before her service started, she had a previous shellac manicure on that needed to be removed. Her technician just said "okay" and removed it. She was never quoted an amount for the removal. We ended up choosing the same color shellac so when her technician was waiting for mine to finish, the technician took out her cell phone for several minutes. Super unprofessional. My manicure turned out HORRIBLY. I have fingernail polish on my skin on every single finger. My thumbnail is chipping already after 1 day of having a shellac manicure because she painted my skin. My other two girlfriends received a pedicure, one of which was horrible as well, paint on the skin also. We were offered wine after my service was done, would have been better to receive that during my service. Come to find out they weren't supposed to serve it to me at all....weird After our services we paid for everything and tipped VERY generously. While at lunch, we received a phone call that the $10 shellac removal wasn't charged and that we needed to give a credit card right away. We asked to call back since we were enjoying lunch. Received 3 more calls, 2 of which left no message and 1 a VERY RUDE message threatening to charge MY card for a service that was not performed on me and was missed by them wasn't being quoted. My friend ended up calling and paying after stressing out about me being charged....over $10.... Received a promotional email at 11am while we were still at the spa, offering discounted prices. When I called to schedule our appointments (called in November, schedule for Jamuaty) I asked about any discounts. I was told not at that time and she didn't know if there would be any so I should definitely ask at the time of our services. No discounts or promotions were offered when we checked out. I didn't receive the promotional email until I got home. I tried calling a manager the next day and she wasn't in at the time. Left a message and the receptionist offered me an email address to send to. I wrote a very long email outlining everything we were upset about. I received an email back from someone other than who I sent it to (sent an email to Carol who is supposed to be the founder or owner). Received an email from a reservation person. The email response was very underwhelming and not caring. Only offering for me to come back in to have my manicure cleaned up or my polish changed and the $10 refunded that was missed. I emailed back and Carol called me at 5:30pm. She was very rude on the phone and offered a $20 credit to my account which would cover the cost of a shellac removal if I'd like to come back. She then argued with me about the promotional email saying she spoke to her receptionist and SHOCKER her receptionist never said that. I finally told her to forget it and hung up. She tried emailing me again but didn't seem genuine or super worried about us being happy, again arguing with me and still trying to explain why their service was SO horrible. Pretty sure the first rule of customer service is customer is always right. I don't appreciate it being insinuated that I'm a liar when I know what was told to me. Save your money and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!! Horrible customer care. Waste of our hard earned honest money!!!!!!!!! Now when we think about my friends 30th birthday we will think of this stress and annoyance. read more

I've been going to Truce for massages for many years and they have definitely gone down hill. On two occasions the service was so bad I had to leave early and complain to front desk. I even went down to the Westin front desk to complain as I was staying the night and was told that the spa is rented out to a third party and not controlled by the hotel. This is why the spa does not abide by the 4 star amazing customer service of the Westin. I will be taking my business elsewhere from now on and urge others who believe that they will receive a 4 star service to do the same. read more

I go to Truce specifically for one massage therapist - Jerica. She's a sweetheart of a person and a great masseuse. Jerica has strong hands and a very caring manner. I've had many many massages in my life and she knows her stuff. Each time I've seen Jerica, she's given me additional information to support my well being. If i could afford to go more often - I would. Star #5 is missing because the Westin's signage for Truce is lacking and I do wish there was more space in the women's dressing room at Truce. read more

I used an amazon local deal for pedi/mani which included a glass of wine. They never offer a glass of wine ( same experience as review from another amazon customer) Pedicure/ mani is very very quick....feet weren't cleaned at all. Nail polish chips off in 2-3 days.
