A little expensive, but pretty good! I've heard great things about this bubble tea brand (granted, one of many) and so dropped by when I was in the area. I ordered one of their specialties, the strawberry trupioca. Overall I was quite impressed - despite being a supposed low calorie and low sugar alternative, the pearls had a delicious chewy texture and were not at all inferior to the traditional tapioca. The drink itself was very refreshing and the strawberry flavour balanced well with the creamy milk tea. Highly recommended to give this a try! :) read more

I ordered the Grape Green Tea with Tapioca (instead of jelly) with little ice and little sugar. The sugar level was good but I regret getting little ice because the drink was not cold at all. The drink reminded me of the Korean grape drink (Bong Bong, iykyk). Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this drink unless you really like grape. The tapioca was chewy and good. read more

The FOD app is currently offering a "buy one, get one free" deal but note that the "free" beverage is limited to two options. I got the peach oolong for this free drink (it's a regular size). For my main drink, I ordered the OREO GALAXY CREME, since I didn't see the regular Oreo milk tea I had tried last time. Turns out, the full menu isn't offered via this delivery service. The drink itself was really good! I love how Tru Tea is very generous with their cookie crumbs which is the best part of their Oreo series and hence, deserves the title of the best Oreo milk tea (I've had my fair share of different ones from different shops and still believe this to be true). This version was much creamier than the regular, tasting as if they hard whip cream in the beverage itself. I ordered this at 70% sugar which was perfect. Interesting new bubble tea spot. Their price point is sort of high, but I will say they have a lot of very interesting flavours! Their mixes are actually quite delicious, and really does feel like a dessert in a cup. They use a lot of fresh ingredients in their drinks--at least from what I've seen. Their fresh taro TRU tea is probably one of the best taro-based bubble teas I've had. I came here when they had their B1G1 promotion, otherwise I'm not sure if I would come back. Their regular drinks aren't really worth getting, since they're so similar to any bubble tea joint. TRU TEA focuses on using natural and fresh quality ingredients to craft their unique drinks! I've heard of good things about this brand so I was very excited to try their drinks. This store was in a food court by the LCBO plaza, so if you drove down, you'd have to pay for parking close by (unless you know someone). The store wasn't very busy so the staff was able to help us right away. We ordered the Matcha Strawberry Latte and Double Roasted Frosty and One way you know they don't use powder is that the drinks took some time to make (5 mins for both?). Both drinks were delicious and not too sweet, but my personal favorite between the 2 was the Double Roasted Frosty as it was very flavorful, plus had that little foam on the top as well. If you taste their drinks, you can see they use real ingredients as there's a lot of stuff inside vs. Powdered bbt where it would look like liquid only. Yet another bubble tea spot in the Yonge and Sheppard area (in this plaza alone, there are 2!). While Tru does taste more or less like all the other bubble teas in the world, it does have some interesting flavours, so I'll bump it up a star. Of note are its cake flavoured creme series and pop up seasonal drinks. The one that caught my eye though was its mozzarella series (yes, you read that right), which is brewed tea topped with house made mozzarella cheese foam. I got the deluxe purple yam with tapioca and sweet barley. A hidden gem found in Sheppard Yonge area mall. Me and a friend ordered two drinks and we were blown away! I got the #8 Fresh Taro Tru Tea and my friend got the #6 Mango Sago. There was no line and we got our drinks within minutes!! The woman serving us was really nice and made sure that we were satisfied with our drinks. The drink I ordered had real taro and purple rice in a fair portion which was great! Will definitely be back when I'm around the North York area. Tru Tea has fresh, creative drinks with real fruit inside. I particularly love the Golden Mango Green Tea! The double roasted milk tea is also really tasty as they add a roasted syrup, elevating it from milk teas from other brands. Tru tea is completely overrated. The barrista manning the shop appeared inexperienced. I'm not sure if this had anything to do with the abominable wait time b/c when I went on the weekend, I had to wait over 30 min after my order was taken. Odd thing is I didn't see more than one person in front of me in line, so why is the process inefficient? I had the coconut mango soy pudding flavour which looked like their specialty. Firstly, for the price of over $7, I would have expected a standard sized drink, not whatever miniature thing I got. Second, the juice tasted like it was from a tetra juice pack. I get that they're marketed as all natural or something but it tasted so bland and medicore. There's way too many bubble tea options in Toronto to give Tru tea a second chance. read more

Trú Tea is a new bubble tea spot that has opened within the Emerald Park complex located in North York! I really appreciate that Trú Tea offers so many fresh and innovative flavours in their menu and you could tell their drinks are high-quality and a lot of thought is put into the creation of each one. For that I commend the brand. I've only tried their fruit teas but I've never been disappointed by any of them and have enjoyed my drinks each time! I recommend you give their tea a try if you haven't! So why 3 stars you may be wondering? Here's the thing: their products are great but their service at this location is a big letdown. Every time I've gone, the staff have been dismissive and hostile -- they never smile and seem to give off the attitude that they hate working there. I thought that perhaps the first or second time I went, I may have caught them in a bad mood but because this has happened multiple times that I've ordered from there, I've begun to think this is just the permanent state of the workers. I nonetheless try to be forgiving and would have given them 4 stars regardless because I still really love their teas and think that the service can be easily fixed but my recent visit left me even more disappointed. Here's the thing everyone should know: with Trú Tea, their creation process is more elaborate and time-consuming so expect to wait for your drink. I know this going there so I'm completely fine doing it since I know what I am getting into. In my most recent visit, I go there and am met with the same routine as other times: I order, unsmiling and listless cashier processes order and then starts preparing drink, I wait around 5 minutes and then get my order. This time however, I waited around 15-20 minutes. I was waiting just in front of the store and I started seeing customers who ordered after me getting their drinks before me. I thought this was weird but assumed maybe my drink is taking longer to make or maybe a mistake happened so they had to redo it but it's fine, I'm a patient person so I'll wait. I decided to go inside to make sure though and to check and see if it's ready but the cashier takes one look at me and goes back to what she's doing so I assume okay probably not ready yet. Then 18 minutes go by and I'm still waiting there. I go inside and ask the cashier if everything is okay with my drink and she says "The dragonfruit one? Here." and hands me a drink that was just next to her and ready the entire time. So you're telling me that my drink was prepared for I don't know how long and you saw me waiting in front of the store and also saw me come in the store looking around to see if my drink is ready and just decided not to say anything? You called out to other people that their drink was ready but decided not to do that for my drink for some reason? I found this behaviour very rude. I'm not a mean or confrontational person so I don't understand what I did to receive this kind of service from them but it makes me unwilling to visit the place again. I'd rather order from other bubble tea places instead or get Trú Tea delivered from Uber Eats because it's insufferable to go through the rude service yet again. Not recommended. The line-up took forever because there were only two baristas in the store and there are a lot of Uber eat orders to fulfill. The drink was overall okay like other chains, which probably have a shorter wait time. The barista's also not familiar to the tea the stores selling and which ones have no caffeine. read more
