Wowza, these tacos are amazing!!! I was looking for a quick bite before we hit up a bar, and these were perfect. It's about $2.75-$3 per taco bursting with flavours and quality meat. I had trouble finding it and circled the parking lot 2x. It's a ghost kitchen inside Jewels Bakery & Cafe. I love that I can directly order through Grubhub for quick pick up and prices are the same as their menu. I ordered each type of tortilla, Doritos, prickly pear and corn. The flavours of the tortilla are very subtle and I didn't notice the difference between them. It has a nice chew and holds the taco up well. I ordered one of each sauce, salsa verde is my fav. Cucumbers and limes on the house for the perfect finish. We wish we ordered more.

I first heard about Tru Tacos through social media and decided to give them a try. I would say that their tacos are good and they come with fresh tortillas. I also love the vibes even though this pop up shares the space with Jewel's Cafe. I wasn't too impressed with the horchata but perhaps I'll try a different drink next time.

As a lifelong Californian who has never liked Mexican food outside of California, I never thought I'd say this, but: these are the best tacos I have ever had in my entire life. Ever. I honestly could not believe how amazing they were. First and foremost, they use a HOT CHEETO TORTILLA. Are you kidding me?! The innovation is astounding, like, come on!!!!! Then, the carne asada was juicy, perfectly seasoned, and just some high quality meat. The toppings were just icing on the cake. If I'm remembering correctly, they served sliced cucumbers on the side, which, when added to the tacos just set them off! Just wow! The carne asada fries were equally delectable. They, too, had an element of my beloved snack with a hot cheeto crumble on the top. It was more than I had ever hoped for since I have been limited in the amount of Mexican restaurants I can eat after my celiac diagnosis, but it was better than any gluten-filled establishment I've been to pre-diagnosis. Since my visit, I have seen that they added a carne asada fry taco and this California girl can't help but notice how close that comes to my favorite meal of all time: a California burrito (a San Diego classic: carne asada, fries and guac stuffed into a delicious masterpiece of a burrito). If they decide to add a California burrito with a hot cheeto tortilla to the menu, fuhgeddaboudit, I am moving to Arizona and never looking back. I hope to see this place thrive so much that it becomes its own, full-time, seperate establishment, because man, what an absolute gem of a menu. You all have blown me away and over a month later, my mouth is still watering.

They make my tacos just how I ask every time I come, and I make changes! Most recently was last night after a rough rental car situation (avoid NU check those reviews eek) and the bartender was awesome. Quick service, friendly and took my order perfectly. Strawberry lemonade is my absolute favorite and if you know me I'm a lemonade girl. Tacos are perfect, the meat has virtually no weird fat on them like most tacos do. Both carne and chicken. Delicious. I'm here for five days this trip and I'm going back for sure, may end up at the Tempe location too. I should mention the great atmosphere and getting I got, a "welcome in" from the ladies behind the counter as well as the bartender I wish I got his name. Thank you for making my night :)

The weather was nice enough to enjoy seating outside in the patio area. Selections chosen: -Chips, salsa, and guacamole appetizer to start -shrimp ceviche- mexican wild shrimp, cucumber, cilantro, tomato, avocado with chips. Nice starter. -Fish tacos- beer battered fish, morita crema, cabbage, pickled onion, and pico de gallo. I enjoyed this taco. -Chicken - adobo style with avocado, sour cream and pico de gallo. -Carnitas (pork)- with onion and cilantro -Carne asada (beef) - avocado salsa, onion, cilantro -crispy tacos (with minced shrimp inside and then topped with tomato salsa, pickled onion, avocado and cabbage). I loved the first crispy taco. And then when I had my 2nd crispy taco where it was not enjoyable anymore. I only was able to eat 1/3 of this until I had the most spiciest pepper seed in my mouth that ruined the rest of the experience and had to load with 3 cups of water with watery eyes and burning mouth. I wasn't hungry anymore. A nice way to curb an appetite. -strawberry horchata- yummy - tres leches de coco - something was lacking as it wasn't as tasty as if it was missing an ingredient. I would like to come back to try the crispy tacos but will need to make sure it doesn't have the spiciest seed as I don't believe there was an indication for something super spicy.

I recommend the asada, the hazz, the Lorenza, and anything with the beans. Order at the counter, they'll call your name when your order is ready, and the seating is casual and open. This location is a standalone with a decent patio. Parking is minimal but seemed like there were enough people coming and going. I got a spot right away. Note when leaving you'll have to go right - heading North on 43rd. The staff here were really nice! It was very busy and after ordering, I was standing with others waiting for my food when the other cashier called me up to check on me, thinking I hadn't figured out the process. He was very nice! The place was packed people finished quickly so getting a table wasn't hard. They also had someone cleaning up tables quickly. I got a carne asada caramelito and a carne asada taco. The caramelito continues to be my favorite of the two. Love the roasted salsa on the salsa bar though the hot red one is really good too! I do wish their guac salsa had more tang and salt. I find it bland. These are among my fave tacos but not my absolute so thus the 4 stars.
